What a month of December for the soaps. These ratings are positive, there’s not one thing bad about the soap ratings right now even GL, which is expected to stay around 1.6 and 1.7 with its horrible timeslot. The ABC Soaps could be doing better, but even they reached 3 million viewers this week.
DAYS has made the biggest turn around for soaps since the whole genre started its decline in the 90s. This is huge for DAYS and NBC. I think the word got out about the renewal and how great the show is becoming and people are slowly coming back each week. DAYS hadn’t had a week like this in two years where they had 2.3s and 2.4s in 3.2 million viewers all in one week. THIRD PLACE, if they keep this up they might be fighting with B&B for second place later this year.
Y&R has officially improved and its helping out the rest of the CBS Daytime lineup. Back to 4.0s as this soap is so hot right now.
On my Guiding Light Message board, there are at least 10 women over the age of 49 that watch the Guiding Light everyday. Why are you cuting the women’s age group off at age 49?
As a loyal GH fan for decades, I have been through bad stories, bad writers and bad actors being shoved down viewer’s throats. But I stuck with GH through it all with the hope things would get better. That is until last month when I finally (and for the first time) turned off GH completely. Brian Frons has made it clear that Liz and Jason fans don’t matter to him and I made it clear that his vision of GH doesn’t matter to me. As an ex-Media Buyer, I know how to read ratings up and down and sideways. And it seems clear to me that many Liz and Jason fans have done the same since GH has lost viewers every week since the break-up with the exception of Christmas week when all soaps increased viewers. That’s a pretty strong statement the fans are making and if the trend continues, GH is only weeks (and a mere .2) away from seeing itself fighting with GL for last place.
I’ve never done this before, post a message about the soap opera I watch or the couple I like to watch but I just read what “liasonfan” wrote and I just wanted to say that I completely agree with you 100%. I stopped watching and turned off GH completely for the very same reason. It’s so disappointing. If they ever put back Liz and Jason back together then I will most likely watch again.
I have also STOPPED watching General Hospital. I refuse to be disappointed again and again by this show. I am tired of it. I also agree with the Liason fans who posted before me. How can there not be a payoff for a fan base who has hung around for 10 years waiting for there couple to be together, to see them happy as a family? Does GH even care? Obviously not! That’s what makes me even more upset. They don’t care about their veteran fans. Why would I expect anything more? They obviously don’t care about their veteran “actors and actresses” either!
A lot of us Liason Fans finally woke up. Enough is enough! People may ask,why we’ve stopped watching because of one couple. In my opinion, I would have been long gone if it was not for Jason and Elizabeth’s potential marriage and family. The writing is just that bad. Even the writing for Jason and Elizabeth was terrible. But,it was the veteran actor Steve Burton and the veteran actress Rebecca Herbst working together and the history, friendship, loyalty and love that Jason and Elizabeth shared…..is what kept me intrigued.
