Because of the date, it’s now too late to call the number we pointed to in the original NBC press release, and I’m not one to steer people to buying them off of Ebay or other outlets if you can possibly get them for free! It’s definitely not too late to get the glasses from a retailer with the Sobe Life Water display. But where to find one?
Here is the list of participating retailers per Sobe:
- Kroger
- Ralphs
- Frys
- Safeway/Vons
- Supervalu
- Food Lion
- A&P
- Pathmark
- Coburns
- Fairway
- Fresh Brands
- Hy Vee
- Nash Finch
- Roundy’s
- Winn Dixie
- K-Mart
- Dollar General
- Hess (Select Stores Only)
- CVS (Select stores only)
- Meijer (on 1/31)
- Target (on 1/31)
I can’t vouch for the list, or whether they’ll be available at any of these retailers that are local to you. But hopefully one of them will work for you. In my own experience as of 1/27, I had not seen the glasses in my local Safeway (even though Sobe doesn’t list Safeway as “selected stores only”) . Note that the glasses are not scheduled to be available at Target and Meijer until 1/31 — so those look like great last minute ways to get the glasses. Good luck!

Thank you Robert!
Well, it looks like i’m going to Dollar General tonight.
There’s a sentence I never thought i’d say.
I was able to get them at my local Smith’s Grocery Store (a chain mainly in Utah, parent company Kroger). I walked right to the refrigerated beverages aisle and there was the display!
I just checked with my local Dollar General (Granbuy, Texas) They confirmed they should have a shipment today or tomorrow.
I asked my local Target folks about these glasses today and everyone said that they had not received them. If, indeed, they will be available on 1/31/09, then I will check back. What bothers me is that, if they are to receive the devices, then they should know when to expect them. I’m not a lawyer, but do I smell a class-action suit here?
Michael B. Shepperd, LCDR, USN (Ret.)
Mike, I think for a class action lawsuit there would have to be damages of some sort. Not being able to watch an episode of a show is not damaging. The only people who will get hurt by this is NBC, who will lose viewers (LOTS of them) if the show is not watchable without the glasses.
All during NBCs “Dancing Stars Competition” shows for past 4 weeks were commercials for these glasses but it went by so quick and the announcer was to unintelligable I had to do masses of research to even find out what he was talking about. Then I went to Albertson’t and the manager didn’t know anything about it, even though I bought a bottle of SO BE. A class action law suit, yes indeed. TO think that they spent millions on those commercials and seem wasted as nobody knows about it or what product it was advertising. Now I suppose they will bombard us with even more tasteless and obscure ones.
Since the Target campaign was always planned as the day before the game availability, there’s no point in getting on Target’s case unless they aren’t there on 1/31. They should expect to receive them before 1/31.
Albertson’s isn’t on the list so I’m not surprised the manager didn’t know.
Class action suits? That’s funny! Even the greediest of lawyers isn’t taking “The Case of the missing 3D Glasses”.
Just picked a bunch up at Kmart in Gresham, Or had a big stash 4 pairs of glasses per sheet.
I’m local to Orlando, FL. Checked two Winn Dixies in the area and neither had the displays. HOWEVER, our local grocer, Publix, seems to have them in select locations. For those in this area: I got some at the Winter Park Publix (located in Winter Park Village) and the K-Mart across the street (on 17/92) had them as well.
Target will have a demo agent/worker going into the store that day and working the store, along with passing the glasses out. The glasses go to the demo workers, NOT target. THEY (demo workers) bring them to the store, the store does not have them. This law suit stuff is a bit much. geesh! I, in fact have 400 pairs and I will be passing these out from 12-4 in the Palm Springs area. workers.
So Sorry…FORGOT TO ADD
They (demos workers and 3-D) will be in the Target stores on Saturday, the 31st.
Nice list of stores (except for the fact that there are none of the listed stores in many parts of the U.S. while other parts of the U.S. have multiple places to get them). Great… nothing like getting up early on Super Bowl Sunday to go to effin’ Target and hope that the jerks who have diverted half the glasses to bootleg on websites haven’t got then all already. You would think that Pepsi would be able to work out a better distribution network since you can get their crap drinks everywhere under the sun.
Here is my anecdotal experience in the chilly wilds of the Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC.
1. Wegman’s & Target @ 28 & Waxpool Road near Dulles. No one had any idea what I was talking about.
2. Small Giant Food at Spout Run & Lee Hwy in N. Arlington. Pepsi delivery man knew of the promotion, but that Giant Store didn’t have it.
3. Large Giant Food store on Gloucester Rd. in Ashburn, VA had them, in the tiniest of displays that I almost missed. There were far larger Super Bowl displays at all stores I went to for Coke products, Tostitos products and Budweiser products.
im amazed at how confusing and difficult it is to get these glasses. i live in chicago and all those stores listed above, except for target, dont even exist in my area. To top it off i work the 31st and wont have time to go to target cuase it’s very out of the way. i’m just really upset and now i have to watch my favorite show with no glasses and a weird picture. thanks NBC for doing an amazing job. sorry but only airing your 3d ads on a terrible dancing show, which i refuse to see, was stupid.
I work at SCHNUCKS… a local store in the midwest, and we have the glasses too. No ones getting them and we’ve had them out for about 2 weeks now. lol
Bill, you make me long for home. I’m stuck living in Utah for now, but besides the Arlington Giant, I know exactly what stores/locations you are talking about because those are close to where I grew up. I’ll pass along the info to my friends that still live in the area so that they can go get their glasses!
Strange thing about the store that I got my glasses at is that there really wasn’t much Superbowl promotion stuff out at all, and the SoBe display was easy to find and looked exacted like the picture posted.
For people living in Hawaii, this article was in our local paper
http://www.starbulletin.com/columnists/kokualine/20090128_OK_to_scatter_ashes_at_citys_Lanai_Lookout.html
Q: Do you know where we can get those 3-D glasses for the Super Bowl and also for the “Chuck” TV show that has “Dom” from “Lost” in it?
A: The 3-D glasses, for viewing two 3-D commercials during the Super Bowl game on Sunday, as well as the NBC TV series “Chuck” on Monday night, are available for free at SoBe Lifewater displays at several retail outlets on Oahu.
According to PBG Hawaii, distributor of SoBe in the islands, the glasses will be available at all Safeway stores, beginning today, as well as at these locations:
Foodland Super Market — Market City, Beretania, Hawaii Kai, Aina Haina, Kaneohe, Dillingham, Kailua, Ewa Beach, Laie, Pupukea and Waipio; Sack N Save — Stadium and Nanakuli; and Times Super Markets — Liliha, Waimalu, Aiea, Kunia, Waipahu, McCully, Beretania and Kahala.
Also, at Kmart — Stadium, Nimitz and Waikele; Longs Drugs — Kamehameha, Wahiawa and Mililani (although there may not be displays in the two stores in Mililani); and Tamura’s — Waianae and Wahiawa.
My experience in Safeway today (in San Francisco’s east bay)was this:
Me: um, 3D glasses for the SuperBowl?
Safeway: and Chuck!! You’re the gazillionth person to ask, but we don’t have any, at least not yet.
I will try again tomorrow.
um, will any 3d glasses work? for instance the ones i got with journey to the center of the earth 3-d?
Shatten, no, not any glasses will work. Whether the ones you have will work though, I have no idea.
I work on the CHUCK stage crew at WB Studios. The production people treated us to a lunch and screening on Thursday, the 3D was great. Don’t miss the lead-in before the opening credits. Have your TV on NBC a few minutes before Chuck starts. Hope you all enjoy it, the crew and guests at the screening did!
PD
Yeah there are no 3d glasses to be found in TAMPA either. I love how the city thats hosting the superbowl has no glasses. Looks like I’ll be trying target tomorrow.
As of 1 pm, 1/30/09, the Pathmark in Hopelawn, NJ had a whole case of these glasses. The two A&Ps in our this area, did not have any.
NO LUCK IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE .. I ‘ve been looking since first of the year ,and none of the people coming to my house have had any luck either ..In the last three days I visited and called over a dozen outlets : Krogers (4), Dollar stores ( 4 ) , Kmarts (4 ) Foodlion (1) Target to see if they were going to have them Saturday 31st (1 )…No one seems to know anything about it ..after I called , I was told over TWO WEEKS ago I was getting mailed a page of 4 ..OF COURSE , NO SHOW… ..looks like the gathering of 14 plus people on Superbowl Sunday at my house are going to be disappointed.. sounds like BS 2 me !!
Found 3-D glasses at Bi-Lo grocery in Chattanooga,TN.
I found the glasses at a Safeway in Rockville, MD. They were in a plain brown box on the floor next to a huge display of Lays chips and Pepsi products, nowhere near the Sobe life water display that was on the other side of the store.
I ordered the glasses via the number in the original NBC press release a week ago Monday. They arrived in today’s (Friday’s) mail. Kind of annoying that the glasses aren’t fully perforated on the sheets — you really do need to break out the scissors! But I’m happy they arrived in the mail, my local Safeway still doesn’t have them and I was really dreading the prospects of trudging to Target on the Saturday before the Super Bowl!
what about in canada can we get them somewhere in canada?
A heads up to those of you in the San Francisco area (Robert included, though I see you ended up ordering the glasses over mail): the Castro Safeway (Market and Dolores) had plenty of them stock as of Friday evening. They’re located at the front of the store near the Wells Fargo along with a bunch of other Super-Bowl-related promotions.
The Food Lion store in Cramerton, NC (just outside of Charlotte) had a huge box of them, and it looked as though only a handful of them had been taken. Being greedy, I took 4 sheets (16 pairs), ‘cos I’m having a party Sunday (Go Steelers!).
The store didn’t have a SoBe display – they were located on a random endcap near the frozen food. Apparently someone just used a box cutter to open the box they were shipped in and wrote “Super Bowl Glasses” on it with a marker.
Jim, my experience was similar. They were randomly located and could easily have been missed.
I just went to Target and they had NOTHING! I am so effin’ mad that I have wasted hours of my effin’ life on this bullcrap. Pepsi Co is full of lazy, incompetent jerks who do not deliver their products. Instead they all stole millions of the glasses so they could sell them. Effin’ corporate trash whores!
My local Publix in Port Orange, Florida has em. I picked up a dozen for my Church’s Super Bowl Party. I also found a pair of glasses a couple of weeks ago on the street while I was walking my Dog!
I found them today, 1/31, at Target. They were available from a “sample lady” who brought them to the store with her and started her display at about noon.
Walked right into Kroger here in the midwest right after reading your website and found a big bin of glasses!!!
I found a nearly full box of them at the SoBe display inside the South entrance of the Giant grocery on Rockville Pike, ROCKVILLE, MD. I am getting together with my girls and families and saw the story on NBC Nightly News tonight. I am the gung ho one of the family and went out at 8:00 to try to find them. I went to Safeway in Rockville because of Jack’s comment. No luck so I started back home thinking “this is crazy; you have better things to do with your time.” On the way back, I stopped at the neighborhood Giant that was much closer than Safeway and….there they were, being totally ignored. I bought some SoBe (0 cal) too ’cause I’ve never tried it or even heard of it. It garnered at least of sale of two bottles.
Picked up several sheets of 4 at the Ssafeway on Little River Turnpike in Annandale.
I also visited Target first since there’s one close by my house. I asked the lady who was working there, she had no clue. She said they didn’t have any 3D glasses, but they do have reading glasses, so I walked right out. Next I went to Safeway and asked the customer service, she said they ran out and told me to check out Longs&Drugs nextdoor. So I went there and they had a box full of 3D glasses. Looks like since it wasn’t listed in the list of stores, probably nobody bothered asking for one. So if you have a Longs&Drugs nearby, check them out.
i don’t know in the u.s has any because i live in riverside but im gana check target or cvs or even k mart im gana go before the super bowl and i need to know where there gana have some so i could watch CHUCK with the glasses and not miss out the fun
BD
They have a box at the service desk of the Eastway Wegmans on Empire Blvd. in Penfield NY 2/1/2009
You are a life saver, thank you. I have been to 5 places and no one knew what I was talking about or had them. I finally found them at Kmart :–) thanks agian
FYI……Dallas area……Carrollton Target has piles of them (4 to a sheet).Go to Guest Services, right by register on the right side. Was there today (2/01)9:30.Enjot the game!!
My local Walmart had them this morning. No big display, there was just a stack on top of the stack of cases of Pepsi.
I guess they don’t want people in Boston to be able to watch. Only three of the stores on the list even exist in New England, to my knowledge, and two of them are already limited by date (Target) and location (CVS). There aren’t many Targets or K-Marts near Boston, either.
I’ve watched every episode of Chuck from day one, and now this!?!?
BULL. SHIT.
Service desk at Target, South Bay Shopping Center, Boston has them.
BOSTON-area locations:
Finally (after calling a bunch of CVS stores – it looks like they don’t have them anywhere in the area) found some at K-Mart in Billerica, MA and Target in Watertown, MA. Neither is a short trip for me, but it’s better than nothing. I’ll definitely go with Target. I try to avoid K-Mart at all costs.
I still think they could have at least put the displays up at ONE of the major supermarket chains in New England, but no where on the list do I see Shaws, Stop & Shop, Hannaford’s, Market Basket, etc.
Thank you, though, Laura C!
This afternoon I went to my local Target, liquor store and Winn Dixie. Nobody knows anything about 3-D glasses at any of these places. I’m disappointed.
I got mine at Wegmans in Fairfax, VA today (nothing like cutting it close, huh?) What upsets me is that there was NO advertising for Chuck on either the glasses or the stand. Just the Monsters vs Aliens’ thing. That could have been a great advertisement for Chuck. Ugh.
Feb 1st 3:15 pm. Went to Walgreens, CVS, Publix and QuickStop in Sarasota, FL and no one had the glasses and it seems it is a mystery to most folks here. Pepsi has really dropped the ball on this one. Shame on you, Pepsi Co! Leaves a “bad taste” in this consumer’s mouth.
Pensacola Area – After getting “No” from every other store, Winn-Dixie said “Yes”. The manager was handing them out as I came in. He told me they quickly ran out earlier and that he demanded Pepsi send his store more. They did. Perhaps the store managers need to pick up the phone to their Pepsi distributer. If they don’t communicate the need, how does Pepsi know that they should send more.
This comment is to “mike” who said “do I smell a class action law suit here”
you are what is wrong with our country today.
You can’t find 3d glasses so you believe that entitles you to sue?
Uggh, your a self absorbed opportunist. You know.. like a disease.
Thank you THANK YOU to kryptongirl18 about the tip about where to get glasses in the Boston area. As of 6:30 this evening, there’s still at least half a box of them at the Target in Watertown. Ask at the service desk, which is between the entrance and the exit doors.
They gave me two sheets of them, which means I’m all set for watching Chuck tomorrow.
if ur in irvine. the ralphs by tofu house, aka kobe house has ALOT
Absolutely no one has them! Obviously not enough were sent out. This sucks!!!
cannot find the glasses ANYWHERE in Orange County……HELP
need 2 sets of 3d glasses. Please ?
Does anyone oknow which stores have it in Alberta??
Well, watched the superbowl without the glasses, but since today my fave tv show Chuck starts back up, I’d like to get some.
Anyone know of any places that had any left over or anyone willing to part with a pair in STL?
go to the movie theatre and pay the 14 year old kid 5 bucks for like 10 of them. Im positive AMC has them because of those idiotic movies that are now in 3D. I got some for free yesterday, I just asked the person at the ticket counter
In South Pasadena, the Ralph’s at the intersection of Huntington/Atlantic/Garfield has a ton of them, but the display is set up in the back corner by the Dorito’s Superbowl display.
Don’t waste your time driving around to find them. Lots of stores are out. I used the store locator on Ralph’s website and called around to different stores. They all knew what I was talking about, but I had to call several stores before I found one that had any left.
Whew. I went to three CVS stores and had no luck at any of them before learning that CVS was by geography only. Apparently not in Connecticut. After reading that other folks were finding the glasses at grocery stores I went to the Shaws in the next town over about twenty minutes ago and was able to get two. I think NBC could have done more to promote the fact that the 3D technology is NOT the regular blue/red glasses because until Saturday I thought the regular 3D glasses I have would work fine.
I was able to pick up a lot of them at Longs Drugs in Huntington Beach. They had a huge display that was very poorly placed so I don’t think anyone knew it was there. Good luck!!
Can’t find them anywhere. This might be the worst promotion of all time.
Still haven’t found them in northern NJ or NYC. I forgot to check K-Mart at Penn Station, so I’ll stop there on my way home, but I wonder if the display would have been removed after the Super Bowl.
I haven’t found the glasses yet so I’m going to DVR the episode and keep trying
Still need the glasses, even tho missed out on super bowl
anybody know where to get them in the Denver/Englewood CO area????
Just came back from Target in Lafayette, IN. They had about 3 sheets (4 in each sheet) of glasses left
Orange County, CA: Huntington Beach
Longs Drugs
5925 Warner Ave, cross street is Springdale
714-377-0995
as of 5:05pm Pacific, they have ‘em. Whew!
Thanks to the original poster, and to Laurie. Based on her post, tried my local Ralphs – they were out. S. Pas still had glasses at 4pm PST, and the Ralphs on Live Oak in Arcadia had some. As others have mentioned, a very POOR promotion – this Ralphs had them at the check-out counter.
I’m vacationing in Pismo Beach, CA. Could not find glasses anywhere.
Most didn’t know what I was asking for. (Vons, Scolari’s, Albertson’s, K-Mart, Longs, local markets and liquor stores) Walmart did have them but had ran out 3 days ago. Losy job of promoting and following through!
Tried five stores in Chattanooga, TN, including Food Lion, Target, and Walmart. None of them had the glasses. AFAIK, none of them ever did. Off to eBay …
There were stacks of sheets (4 per) were I went shopping just yesterday. No one seemed interested. I now know why – it was a terrible episode – and they didn’t work very well at all. Three TVs in the house; 1080, 720 and standard TV tube… not one gave a decent 3D effect. Even at max brightness – still too dark.
Thanks a load! Have been looking for these. After seeing your list I started calling around and within 5min found some.
Has anyone seen them in North Houston area? I have the episode of Chuck DVRed and want to watch it! I have a friend looking in Chatanooga.
For cripes sake… get out of the house. I think that the movie WALLE is showing true the stereotype of the AMERICAN COUCH POTATO. You wont die if you dont get to see the silly trailer. And for what it is worth 3d is only a fad to make crappier movies look better. SHREK lost it at 2. So now lets try 4 in true3d….
comon people get a life
