The Renew or Cancel Index sadly saw this coming, but we’re surprised to see ABC cop to it so early.
ABC is giving fans of “Life on Mars” some closure.
The network has told producers that it won’t be ordering any additional episodes beyond the 17 currently in the works for this season. But rather than play the usual “Let’s-wait-until-May-before-we-make-a-decision” game regarding the fate of “Mars,” ABC brass have admitted to producers that they won’t be ordering another season of the show.
That means that, rather than letting “Mars” drift away with no resolution, producers will be able to write and film a definitive ending to the saga. Production is expected to continue for at least a few more weeks, with the finale expected to air no later than early April.
“We felt it was the right thing to do for the producers and the fans and creatively,” ABC Entertainment Group President Steve McPherson told TelevisionWeek.
ABC took heat from critics and loyal fans for the abrupt endings to its well-regarded dramas “Eli Stone” and “Dirty Sexy Money” last year. By giving “Mars” a chance to complete its mission, the network is hoping to avoid any similar “controversy.”

Life On Mars was TRASH! McPherson has a BONER for Jason “very mediocre” O’Mara!
Smoke Monster Strikes Again!
Props to ABC for not leaving the fans hanging.
well it was inevitable, but I still feel for fans of the show. Glad they at least get a decent ending to whatever is going on in the show (I haven’t actually seen the show myself)
Yay. I’m sad it’s going, but at least it gets a proper ending. It’d be great if all networks would allow that especially with their longer running shows.
i love the show and the acting. i just got my son in law into watching it. really sad
It is a good show that really should have been a miniseries and probably on a cable channel. I never saw the original UK version but it did not seem like a premise that could continue.
well at least ABC lets some shows get a chance to get an ending.
The show had terrific actors, but the UK version was better. I know they said that the answer to why the US Sam was in 1973 was not the same as the UK’s Sam’s answer, and that is partially where they went wrong. Conspiracies and huge agenda just bogged the show down. I love Keitel, but he his Gene Hunt is a pipsqueak compared to the UK Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister). Casting Micheal Imperioli as Ray Carling was inspired – but why make him married? You can see what a sexist he is without having the repressed wife at home. He was a womanizer, and a clueless one at that in the UK and that was part of the fun. Sam also should have been less open about the time traveling thing. It doesn’t make sense that they kept ignoring the wackness when he would talk about the future. And in the UK show, a respect and friendship grew between Sam and Gene. I didn’t see that happening in the UK show. The growth of their relationship was very important in the UK version. The producers of the US version really missed the boat. On a positive note, with all that is wrong with it, it is light years better than the version David E. Kelley wrote. That was so off the mark it was shameful.
Ha — 17 episodes is one longer than the original ran. The major difference being the original ended because it was supposed to, however.
This one was OK but the original was GREAT.
I watched it but to be honest i am not really upset….
I’m gonna miss Life on Mars shame it did not get a second season unlike Pushing Daisies and Eli Stone.
wow it’s only March 2nd and ABC has already cancelled half of its scripted shows
and people say FOX is bad at cancelling stuff…
I heard this a few weeks back as a real possibility, but I’m surprised they jumped this quick. Good for them.
Well I was having a hard time imagining how Life on Mars could go on for years and years.
So it’s actually kind of nice that it’s going to end with a miniseries feel and the show won’t overstay its welcome with the fans.
Well the writing’s been on the wall for some time now. So it’s the right thing to do to let them know in advance so they can wrap up the storyline. It will play out better on DVD.
This might be the least surprised i’ve ever been.
I hope other networks do this with series they intend to cancel. As noted in the post, it gives the writers a chance to “finish” the series with a definitive ending.
ABCFanaticWows: Pushing Daisies and Eli Stone had two seasons, with Daisies having 3 episodes left to air, and Eli 4 (per The Futon Critic website). I wonder if Daisies would have done well on A&E or Lifetime, though?
DoghouseReilly: BBC tends to make shows with much shorter runs than US versions do – for instance, neither As Time Goes By or Are You Being Served? (both bellwethers for local PBS stations around the country) made more than 12 episodes per season. You’re absolutely correct about the miniseries angle – it would have been easier to promote Mars that way – and could have been a new form – the “maxi-miniseries”.
BCT: If the US producers had merely copied what the BBC version did, can you imagine what the critics would be saying – think Kopeckny in the 12th Precinct holding cell…and Yemana calling, “Barney! BARNEY!!!” The Mars producers and writers may have done badly, and been lazy at doing that – but at least they didn’t commit one of the cardinal sins of television production – plagarism.
Oh well.
At least it’s not coming out of the blue.
I’m glad TPTB are allowing a wrapped up episode. I too hope that the writing team comes up with something differnet than the BBC verison. My only fear is that it’ll end up as some flufftastic thing.
Josie, the BBC ending was amazing. But Americans can’t take somewhat open endings, so I highly doubt they’ll keep that. But, seriously, the American fans would be lucky to get an ending as wonderful as that.
Thats about as suprising as finding out that Clay Aiken was gay.
Julia, I watched the BBC version…long before the US version. Yes, I know the BBC ending. I also know the Ashes to Ashes beginning. (IMHO niether was that unpredicable.) But that was the BBC version. This is the US version. It was unfair for viewers to compare the two. I believe that’s why the US version failed. It was doomed from the beginning because was a stateside remake thus totally plebeian.
I saw the BBC original and this version was crap compared to it. Can’t say I’m sad to see it go, but I’m glad they are giving the fans some closure.
Putting it up against 11th. Hour (Another rewrite of a UK product, but done MUCH BETTER) was a bad choice on ABC’s part. My recomendation is to look to new avenews for material and stop rewriting old or overseas market product. The UK version of LoM did not need to be “Americanized” and I thought from the first blurb I heard that it would all end in tears. PLEASE Hollyweird, read some books and realize that their are original ideals out there and go that route. Preferably before you give us “Plan 9 from Outer Space” directed by Q. Terentino!
I have a feeling that ABC will move Lost to 10, with repeats at 9, because of Fox moving American Idol to 9 on Wednesdays and got this cancellation out of the way to prepare for the move….
Jack, ABC only ordered 13+4 episodes this season. There was never a question of more episodes this season since the 10pm slot was already alloted for The Unusuals in November.
Sorry to see LoM go, but with the dismal ratings, I knew it was going to happen. I’d like to see the original series but for some reason, it’s not available on NetFlix.
Merlin has a great idea in terms of reading books. But that’s too much work for Hollywood. They would rather recycle an existing series, and not take a chance on any new concepts.
“Sorry to see LoM go, but with the dismal ratings, I knew it was going to happen. I’d like to see the original series but for some reason, it’s not available on NetFlix.”
So far the orginal series has not gotten a DVD release. BBC America will air the last LoM UK episode right before the American premiere of Ashes to Ashes.
“Merlin has a great idea in terms of reading books. But that’s too much work for Hollywood. They would rather recycle an existing series, and not take a chance on any new concepts.”
NBC should just move it to sister network Sci-Fi. It should do fine their. I can’t see Merlin doing as well as Heroes on NBC.
Either than or find out someway to hand the rights to BBC America since its a BBC show.
Thanks Deadbeat and Don M. Weather it is to much work or not they have to change their model to remain a power in media. The GenPop might be ok with endless recycled pablum but the GenPop is not buying the product, and with this derth of new concept neither are the fanboys/fangirls unless it is beacuse of a specific teen crush/idol image they are buying. -Sigh- Oh so much more to say, must bite fingers to prevent typing. Argh!
Don, LOM has not gotten a region 1 release, but it is available on region 2 at least. Probably doesn’t help someone who has access to Netflix, but if you are really desperate, you can buy it off Amazon UK and watch it on a computer, since most will play any region.
I really enjoy this show, and I’m glad to be getting a final resolution. You know, the show never felt like it should have been a short-term series anyway, so it’s probably for the best. I look forward to finding out why he’s stuck in 1973 and whether he gets to return home.
The original LOM was fantastic and I really think the ABC version is good too. Let both versions exist as seperate things, no need to compare them. It might actually be a good thing that the show is getting an ending in one season. At least some of the original magic of the show can be retained without stretching it out for the sake of several 22 episode seasons by which time it would have been totally drained. I’m quite happy that we’ll get an end, so it’s not he worst news.
Yet another notch in ABC’s gun.
If I were a fan of LOM I wouldn’t believe them when they say they’re going to air the rest of the episodes. We’ve so heard that one before.
Was the best show on TV.
I am very upset Life On Mars is going off the air. I think it is the best show on TV today. It is well written, it is funny. All the actors are great. Everything about it is “Great”!
There are so many stupid shows on the air, all the reality shows, these shows insult people’s intelligence.
ABC should have advertised, with advertising I believe viewership would have significantly increased.
They actually moved the show to Wed. from Thur. evenings and never announced the change or when the new season was going to begin.
I hope another network or cable station picks this show up and gives it the credit it deserves.
Very upset!!!!!!
I really enjoyed the show compared to the CSIs and the Law & Orders. It was different and refreshing. The BBC one was cool also. This one probably should have been on cable. Thats unfortunate. What a great cast!!
BCT I agree completely. I have read about the UK version and it still sounds better than the “twist” they are using with the US version. I think our Life On Mars should have been a limited run to begin with.
Come to the UK and watch the real thing, Not the imitation.
Then again David E Kelley has made some good shows in the past.
I am very disappointed that ABC is canceling this show. I have really been enjoying it and wondering each week what more we would learn. For those who love this show, tune into BBC America on Saturday night for the premier of Ashes to Ashes, the British sequel to their “Life on Mars” series. I hope there is another station out there that finds a way to pick up Life on Mars and keep this show going.
Watch LOM at abc.com.
Tell all your friends.
It’s our only hope.
Anyone else notice that every show that has been on ABC the same night as Lost has gotten canceled? Lost is a horrible lead-in because all its fans pile onto the internet to discuss the episode as soon as its over.
LoM was already doing poorly after GA. It actually improved to less embarrassing retention values for the first airings after Lost. Some Lost viewers did sample the show when it moved, what the downward trend in retention tells us is that they didn’t like what they sampled.
Invasion, Eli Stone and LOM all had Lost as a lead-in. If you add Pushing Daisies to the list as being on just before Lost then it doesn’t look like Lost adds much value to shows its paired with.
When was Pushing Daisies before Lost? I don’t seem to recall that ever happening, and Elli Stone during the season that got it canceled was after DWTS, not Lost.
Eli Stone premiered on Thursday 10:00 Lost. Ten it was moved to after DWTS for a while, then on Sunday, the on after ATJ on Tuesdays.
I’m pretty sure Pushing Daisies was on just before Lost the previous season until they yanked it because of the writers strike.
Sorry my keyboard is giving out. That should read:
Eli Stone premiered on Thursday at 10:00 just after Lost. Then it was moved to after DWTS for a while, then on Sunday after Desperate Housewives. Then it was moved back to tuesday after According to Jim.
I’m pretty sure Pushing Daisies was on just before Lost the previous season until they yanked it because of the writers strike. Pushing Daises was at 8:00, Lost rerun was at 9:00 and Lost at 10:00. The was only for about seven weeks before the strike happened.
During 2008-2009 the Wednesday line-up up to when they ran out of new episodes due to the writers strike, was Pushing Daisies, Private Practice, and Dirty, Sexy Money. Lost started on Thursdays at 9pm, and moved to 10pm when GA returned with new post strike episodes.
Last season Lost was always on Thursdays, and Pushing Daisies always on Wednesdays. So, yes it went before Lost, 24 hours before Lost…
Actually, PD was out of the schedule by the time Lost returned to the airwaves. The last episode of PD was aired December 12, 2007. The first episode of Lost’s S4 aired January 31, 2008.
Ok, can you name me shows that were successfully paired with Lost?
… and by “successful” I mean one that is still on the air.
When 80% of new shows get killed in their first season, I doubt lost that occupies 1 hour of the schedule, can be blamed for the fact that people don’t want to see them.
In 2005 17M viewers of Lost tried out Invasion, it is not like they didn’t give it a chance, the show was just not good enough.
In 2006 it was The Nine that followed Lost. That was so bad that it would have tanked anywhere. Pretentious, and poorly acted.
In 2007 Elli Stone actually managed to get a renewal, and end in the overall season ranking high enough to get it picked for a new season. Ahead of Cashmere Mafia, in total viewers, and of Woman’s Murder Club in the demo.
I’m not blaming Lost per se (Geez, these fans sure get overwrought, don’t they?). I’m blaming ABC’s mismanagement of it’s scripted dramas. This is just an example.
Sure you couldn’t think of a show?
Elli Stone survived Lost. It died a year latter after it was placed behind DWTS. So there is one show that was not killed by Lost, and actually helped by Lost. Lost has higher demo numbers than DWTS, and Elli Stone benefited from those in the season it was renewed, over Cashmere Mafia, that aired after DWTS, and WMC that had a 2nd chance, after the strike, in the same time slot. What killed ES was airing after DTWS, that can’t provide a great lead-in in the demo, and requires a show to retain a huge amount of it’s total viewers to remain competitive.
I am not a Lost fan. I just came in because you blamed Lost for Pushing Daisies, and they never even aired in the same week. B
There’s no need to call me a “B”, dear. Get a grip. It’s only the internet.
That was not an insult. It was bad deleting. I was going to add
“Because I get a little tired of people blaming everything, but the fact that the show has no mass appeal, to the demise of show.” But censured myself because I didn’t feel like elaborating.
IMO, a good lead-in, or a good time slot, can only help a good show, and it may save some promo money to the Networks. In the long run, a bad show, will always end up dead in spite of the lead-in, or the time slot. Last year WMC proved it. It’s poor numbers where being blamed on it being on Fridays, and it was moved to Tuesdays after DWTS, where it did the exact same numbers it was doing on Fridays.
Good! Now, I’ll start watching it again… I stopped watching when I knew there was no chance this show would last. If they would do this more often, I would tend to buy the series dvd’s, but when they just stop mid-story, what’s the point? I would love to have, say, a Eli Stone 2 season collection, but why buy and watch something without an ending? What if a movie stopped in a theater 2/3 through. Wouldn’t you demand compensation of some sort for your time and money? We probably would settle for a free pass, but with television, we have to settle for that fact that we just wasted hours and hours that we could have wasted elsewhere!
Yea I’m with Gary on the going back to watch. I’ll always prefer the UK original but this US version had its plus points and with a guaranteed ending it will gain extra DVD sales I think to boot. Networks should be honest and brutal more often, this means more canceled shows can get resolution *cough Odyssey 5 and TSCC cough*
Rats. I became a fan of the BBC original LoM with John Simm, and didn’t expect much from the ABC version. However, I immediately really liked the ABC show–the casting, the writing, everything. The storyline is refreshing, and not the usual cookie-cutter drama, or inane and unrealistic “reality” shows that are all over the TV. I don’t know whether to be more disappointed with American television, or American television viewers. I mean, honestly, how does a show of this quality not get good ratings? Oh, well. You lot go back to your “Celebrity Apprentice”, or whatever, and I’ll just go back to BBC America.
THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS NEXT TO ELI STONE! I guess I have lousy taste in TV viewing —BUT COME ON GREAT actors GREAT music
how can something as stupid as LOST keep going on and these 2 great shows be gone?
At least they are letting them air a finale! I am so sick of shows being pulled and the viewers are left up in the air
ABC screwed this up from the beginning. The originally shot pilot with Rachelle Lefèvre and Colm Meaney was something decent till they destroyed it by recasting it. The only outstanding part about the new cast was Michael Imperioli the rest were simply sub par. I definitely give ABC props for giving the show an ending. Frankly most TV execs are morons letting shows end on a cliff hanger or without some form of closure. After all who the hell wants to buy a DVD of an incomplete show.
I hate that they are cancelling this show it is great. I heard everyone talk about how much better the UK version is. Watched it don’t get it. Maybe it’s because I watched the US version first, but I think the UK version isn’t half as good as US version.
Here in the west coast San Francisco California I love the show, but I have to tevo it as it comes on too late at night. If the show was in an earlier time slot it would capture a larger audience here. I have told many people about the show, but most responded with “oh, it on too late for me to watch it, but it seams like it would be good.” Audiences seem to love the era of the 70’s, look at the success of the 70’s show. If abc would move the time slot to 9pm they would grab a much larger audience put lost on after Mars lost is established enough to hold on. I am tired of good new shows coming out and not given a chance to succeed. It seems that the most creative shows get canceled or I should say the shows that make people think intelligently get canceled. Its a shame. They should give the show another year in a time-slot suitable for people that have to work every day.
Maria, the lower HUT at 10 pm is something all 10 pm shows have to deal with. Yet they almost all manage to get more than Life on Mars in the demo.
What a bummer to my day. This show is the only interesting thing on TV aside from AMC’s Mad Men. I think it suffered from being on so late and on a competing time slot with Top Chef. Does ABC actually watch some of the shows out there and did execs actually watch this one? Very shortsighted move. I have to wonder what drivel (e.g. Ugly Betty) they’ll replace it with.
The ending in the UK version sucked majorly. I really hope they don’t do the same thing with this version.
Wow….what a shock..didn’t know the show was going to be cancelled. I think it is a good show. I lived through the seventies, albiet young, I felt this show gave me some insights into some things that I was too young to grasp. I can always reference the sci-fi cancellation blunder of “Star-Trek” way back when and know that hasty decisions don’t always yield the best results.
H.Keitel, M.Imperioli, jason O’mara, Gretchen Mol, and the others were a well cast group. I think this team could have taken this show to a higher rating given more time!
God, there are so many bad TV shows on these days and they go and cancel this. Brutal. My wife and I both were really into the show and that’s why I thought it had a chance. It really should get a chance at an earlier time slot. ABC should stand for “Always Be Cancelling”.
I watched the entire BBC series, and I think it was crap! The American version was much better. ABC really screwed up by cancelling it!
I’ve seen both shows and I have to say, the British version is not quite as satisfying as the American version. Harvey Keitel absolutely rocks. Don’t get me wrong, the British version is very good. I’d be happy to have both on DVD in my archive. But for me, the American version is just a hair better. I’m sorry to see it go. I think the way the American version was going that 25 episodes would have been the sweet spot.
I LOVED this show and my family did, too. I wish I’d known about the cancellation early enough to do a write-in campaign to save it.
Don’t worry, Suzanne, finding out now just means you don’t have to waste the postage. Write-in campaigns do not work.
Life on Mars is the best show on televison. For those of you who dislike it are those that don’t appreciate it or are too young to understand what its about. If it comes out on DVD I will definatley buy it. The cast, story line, props, and the music made this show top. ABC cancelling it just tells you that the generation we live in would rather watch s*** than a good show.
Life on Mars was my favorite new show and wish they were not ending it. I eagerly awaited each episode and would watch it before Lost most weeks. I am glad they are giving the producers a chance to end it as Eli Stone and Dirty Sxy Money just ended with questions not answered. But I think that networks do not give shows a chance to build an audience today. If it is not an immediate hit, they take it off the air and leave fans who are talking about the show to friends feeling empty.
I am soo sad that they are taking this show off =/. I look forward to it each week and they hav a great cast =]. I am glad that they are giving it a proper ending though. I think they should have given the series up to a 3rd season and put it on sci fi, that might have helped.
I love the bbc version; I really liked this version. It’s good that it’s ending: the first one did too…
I’ll miss it, but Ashes to Ashes is completely amazing and I’d love to see the Manhattan version of that, too.
It’s OK to have a story, run with 2 seasons and wrap it to make sense. The best sci-fi runs that way and this is some of the best out there.
The US cast was really American; the bbc cast SO Brit. I have to say Philip Genister is completly awesome. His character in Ashes is almost-gasp-sexy.
How can they cancel such a great show???? I watch exactly 2 shows every week–Lost & Life on Mars. I hate to see that half of my television schedule is about to be gone. Poor decision ABC…
Life on Mars is a show that not only entertains but, also provides twists and turns with a challenge for intriguing thought on the part of the viewer. The ever evolving thought of time travel and influencing the future for the better has been an item that has brought entertainment to the movie and television viewers for decades. In this series there is an appeal to the baby boomer generation that bring the good things in life, and the bad in some cases, from the past to the forefront of our current day lives. The show also has a way of showing us, even if the outcome is not as we expected, or a rosy as we remember, life goes on and we get through it all.
With the looming world economic crisis and wars that affect the lives of so many, here you have given us a view of how our generation got through what we viewed as our toughest times. With the Star Trek SCI-FI twist, and the passion and emotion of M.A.S.H., you have opened a door to the past for our children to understand the world their parents grew up in. To remove this show from production would truly be a shame.
I think Steve McPherson, of ABC’s Entertainment Group made a big mistake for allowing Life on Mars to get cancelled. Obviously he doesn’t know what’s best for the fans. Everyone I know that has watched it loves the show.
I have the reverse experience Ray, I’m the only one I know who watches the show!
I believe the group responsible for canceling LoM is somewhat akin to
the GOP– if it doesn’t show immediate instant gratification to a focus
group it MUST be worthless….. Morons.
Please, AMC or SciFi– pick this show up before its too late.
This is the best show (especially drama) that has debuted on network TV in years! I do not watch a lot of TV and this airs a little on the late side for me, but I always make a point of watching it. I thought it was fabulous – wonderful casting, great characters …. it’s definitely a shame to see it go.
I am very disgusted at ABC for cancelling this fantastic show. It is a great show and one of the few ABC shows I actually watch. I have been so put off by Grey’s and DH, that in my opinion have jumped the shark. The cast is spectacular and the show is extremely intriguing. It’s a great mix of fantasy, sci-fi, action, historical pop culture, and mystery all in one. If they didn’t spend so much time promoting dying, dull, has been shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate House wives….or on their terrible reality shows….perhaps Life on Mars could have had a chance. I hope ABC wakes up and sees how disappointed the fans are…OR…one of the cable networks picks it up and runs with it. Either way, I am extrememly disappointed.
What a shame that they are cancelling this program. For all of those who stated that the show was done in poor taste must be teeny boppers. If you had grown up in the 70’s then one would appreciate this show. ABC you are messing up here here!
Please don’t cancel this show!
Im heartbroken they are canceling this show! I love both versions UK and USA and watch ashes to ashes and cannot wait till it continues next month.
Its the first time in years (too many actually!) that I have found a show I love and now they are kicking it to the curb.
I wish there was a way to have it continue like they are in UK anyone know how to get in touch with them? would it help if fans wrote to them even? Im so sad and just keep watching them all just to keep happy to see them.
My boyfriend and I were dismayed last night when we watched this week’s episode and saw the preview for the “series finale”. Say it isn’t so! This was such a fun show. I loved when it went into it’s shout out to the cheesy 70s cop dramas I used to watch as a kid. The premise was really cool and I was just developing my opinions about the characters. It’s a shame it didn’t catch on, but I guess it’s the nature of the business.
Donna, bobbie, I agree completely. I just discovered the show three or four weeks ago and was immediately hooked.
I wonder if they considered moving to a cable network. There is a lot of first-run programming there now.
I enjoy watching the show. I believe that ABC is making a huge mistake. Reality shows are getting old and boring. Please do not cancel this show. If so, I would hope that another network would pick it up.
I’m so sorry they are canceling “Life on Mars,” and I’m sick of the shows similar to this being taken off, too–Journeyman last year or the year before, Eli Stone, talk about “Medium” maybe in its last year, Pushing Daisies–all right, it wasn’t the greatest but still. I try to pick shows that are given a halfway decent review. I don’t have a lot of time to add new shoes to my viewing schedule. But come on!!
That would be “new shows”
so TYPICAL tv watchers.
no sence of good entertainment.
just reality crud and more crud
If only my one vote counted I would KEEP
Life on Mars On. The show, the stories, the actors
are all entertaining. It is really fun to be
taken back to the 70’s. ABC makes ANOTHER blunder.
Why watch all their shows….too disappointing not
entertaining UGGGGGGGGGGGG
Sell the rights to the SciFi channel!!
I can’t say that this has come as a surprise. However, I am still disappointed. I absolutely loved the UK LOM. BBC Americas airs some wonderful shows. I was actually glad the US did not try to copy the UK version exactly.
I think this past weeks episode was showing the relationship between Sam and Gene grow…too bad they are going to have to rush it now.
I don’t know why such terrible shows can make it, but quality, innovative programming is canned.
I really feel for the actors..they were doing a great job.
I wonder if we could flood ABC with emails to get them to keep it for at least one more season
It’s unfortunate that ABC execs cut a show off without give it a try. Life on Mars was one of the best new shows to come along to ABS since Lost. ABC has very little shows of interest, and now they have lost Life On Mars.
Very disappointed. This was the best new show in a long time. I will use the only leverage at my disposal to show my displeasure . . .no more ABC for me under any circumstance.
LOVE THE SHOW. SORRY IT HAD TO GO..
I’m so sad this is ending! I just got into it about 5 episodes ago and poof! Gone. Rats.
Fantastic show….big mistake. Maybe FX or someone else will pick it up as happened with Scrubs. I heard they were cancelled, and ABC picked them up. Previously I thought it was on NBC.
Very disappointed. The character development continued to get better each week. Never missed it. Dumb move, ABC.
I am so upset that abc is taking this show off the air. I cannot believe that tv viewers would watch singing/dancing/bachelor & bachelorette stupid boring pre-made shows rather than a great show with unbelievable actors. This show was truly entertaining and so campy and well written. I got married in 1973 at age 20 so I could not get enough of everything including the clothing, the cars, the music and 1970’s NY City. I will just be going to bed a little earlier on Wednesday nights from now on.
i live in the area near lodi new jersey of where the patrol cars and the 69 rag top gto are stored, so real treat for me to still see them to this day (3/31) out front behind the fence. even got to follow the red and white caddy ambulance and one of the patrol cars through the lincoln tunnel one nite when they brought them back into city (queens) to shoot in january!
i wonder what they might’ve done to sam if he tried to convince somebody of comming attack of wtc? probably send him to the funny farm.
i like the concept of traveling back 30 years. tell myself wher i screwed up, and try it allover again! to bad it was only the best sci-fi since origional star trek! t.v. was fun again for at least a season! i would gladly blow my fifty bucks on a dvd!
see that? fouled my spelling! rats! can’t go back in time to fix it either! where’s sam’s magic hit’n'run crown vic from episode one when 1 need it?
Im glad they ended it. im a huge fan of this show so im glad they ended it before they started just making episodes for the sake of making them and start making the fans dislike the show
it will go down as something great
i know ill buy it on DVD
Sad to see it end…liked the chgaracters.
But so glad it had that great ending…like Wizard of OZ revisited!
VERY, VERY, VERY sad to hear Life on Mars is cancelled. Wednesday 9pm became my husband and my “at home date night.” This is one of the few shows we both enjoyed. (along with Eli Stone and Dirty, Sexy, Money) Maybe we should like the non-origional/redundant shows like “CSI this and CSI that” and “Law and Order 1,000,000.” I guess thinking outside the box has become unacceptable. Please bring these new and ORIGIONAL shows back!!!!
I will never forgive ABC for cancelling my favorite show. Yea, yea, the UK version was better, more raw and less produced, but the US version was good too. My favorite part of all of it being the music and Michael Imperioli. I’m going to miss it terribly. A big F*CK YOU to ABC. Grow a backbone and stand behind the shows that are quality, good ratings or not.
After reading some comments I guess People are alright with (Life) being canceled, but I’m still a big fan of the Life on Mars’ entertainment and think along with lots of people at work the show really worked and I am sorry for fans it was canceled.
I was a HUGE fan of Lost in the beginning, but it lost me a long time ago. I liked Life on Mars and didn’t know it was cancelled till the last episode. Great cast and I liked the flashback to the 70’s, it was great to see that again. I think ABC should’ve given it more time given the many shows we have to watch on all the cable channels. Too bad.
I loved this show! I cant believe it’s going away
This is bullshit! Im sick and tired of people canceling the good shows and leaving the trash stay on the tv. Bull Shitting a last show together isn’t right. Writers sit in dark rooms for days months even year to write this work. Finish the first season at least that so you can make money off then box set jerks. People do like this show, it’s just a bad tv slot.
ps burn in hell…
thank you
