Alan Sepinwall is the TV critic of The Star-Ledger, but he has a separate blog, What’s Alan Watching? that I’ve been hooked on for months. I don’t know why I never added him to our links list sooner (I have now) but I tremendously enjoy the hard work he poors into his craft.
I don’t always agree with Alan, but then again, I don’t always agree with anyone so that’s not saying much. But it’s just a manifestation of how unique individuals are. For example, I pretty much always agree with Alan down the line when it comes to his critiques of Battlestar Galactica, where I typically agree with him more than I agree with Maureen Ryan (another blog I highly recommend for fans of shows) but when it comes to, say, Lost, I find myself usually agreeing more with Mo.
I did however agree 100% with Alan’s write-up on the Burn Notice season finale, including especially perhaps:
This is a show that started off as a diversion at best, then became a fun summer lark, and now I consider it essential, terribly engaging viewing. It feels epic in a way that I never would have expected at any point in season one.
But I knew I was hooked on Alan’s blog like a crack addict when before bed last night I went there in hopes of seeing his write-up on last night’s BSG. When it wasn’t there, I was annoyed! It’s there now.

Are you getting paid by the Burn Notice plugs?
I wish!
Sepinwall posts all of his reviews, etc. on both sites (well, occasionally he will merely post a link to a Star-Ledger interview), but his Blogspot site is much more heavily commented on because so many people have Blogger accounts.
I agree: I love reading Sepinwall and Ryan’s blogs. I also like James Poniewozik of ‘Time’ magazine’s site and read the blog of Matt Roush of ‘TV Guide’ before ‘TV Guide’ magazine sold TVGuide.com.
Oh damn it! I don’t want to hear that BN’s improved hugely since I dropped it after about six episodes. I’m watching too many shows as it is.
Alan is a big fan of HBO’s greatest show ever, The Wire. His reviews of The Wire were the thing that hooked me to his blog. One of the best places for TV reviews on the net.
Alan’s blog is second to none. Every review is well written, he covers the best shows, and the commenters are great. Def check it out if you haven’t already

The Office was far worse than 30 Rock in 2008. The Office is still far worse than 30 Rock. I realize though that it’s all a matter of opinion. And props to this Alan guy for having Chuck on his list.
I read his blog on Chuck weekly. He’s always on point, I pretty much agree with everything he says.
[blang] Another hijacked thread… gotta keep the chuck synergy inside people.
But it is a great blog… and alan does like chuck/the office.
Bookmarked.
That blog is very funny and the guy is right in what he said about alot of those shows.
