Season-to-date, “Nightly” is the Only Evening Newscast to Increase in Total Viewers and Rating A25-54
NEW YORK – June 9, 2009 – According to Nielsen Media Research data, “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” was the most-watched network evening newscast, winning the week of June 1-7, 2009. During the week, the Williams-led newscast grew to 7.964 million total viewers, +815K more than ABC “World News’” 7.149 million, and +2.787 million more than CBS “Evening News’” 5.177 million – its lowest delivery ever. Season-to-date, “Nightly” is the only evening newscast to increase in total viewers (up +2%) and tops “World News” by +760,000 viewers.
“Nightly” has won for 34 consecutive weeks in total viewers, and for 28 straight weeks in A25-54.
Among the key demographic adults 25-54, “Nightly News” delivered a 1.9 rating, ahead of ABC’s 1.6 rating and CBS’ 1.3 rating. “Nightly” led “World News” by +352,000 A25-54 viewers for the week. Season-to-date, Nightly is the only evening newscast to increase in rating A25-54 (+10%) and leads World News by +300,000 A25-54 (000) viewers.
In homes, “Nightly News” won with a 5.3 rating and an 12 share. In second place ABC drew a 4.8/10, and CBS posted a 3.6/8.

All time low for Couric.. ouch.
Maybe the new game should be how low can CBS news go in the ratings. Summer or not, this is abysmal and pathetic.
Maybe a new hairdo will improve the ratings for CBS and Couric. I’m curious to see how long Moonves will continue keeping Couric in the anchor seat. She should have been booted long ago.
Can’t stand NBC, ABC, or CBS. However, CBS is the last evening news channel I will watch due to giggly Katie acting out her hatred for pro-choice views.
I miss the days of unbias/no opinion evening news. My 82 year old mother-in-law refuses to watch NBC, ABC, or CBS due to their opinionated reporting. But, it doesn’t seem to matter to the executives of these networks – it seems to be getting worse not better.
Maybe if Katie would broadcast away from her NYC elite friends and actually broadcast an unbiased news she would improve her ratings. She just a political hack like her perverted Dirty Old man Late Night counterpart.
