CONAN TAKES WEEK TWO IN EVERY KEY RATINGS CATEGORY

‘THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH CONAN O’BRIEN’ DOMINATES ITS SECOND WEEK OVER ‘LATE SHOW’ IN EVERY IMPORTANT DEMO – ADULTS, MEN AND WOMEN 18-34, 18-49 AND 25-54 – ALSO CLAIMS THE WEEK IN TOTAL VIEWERS

CONAN WINS THE WEEK BY 79 PERCENT IN 18-49 VIEWERS, ‘TONIGHT’S’ BIGGEST MARGIN AGAINST A FULL WEEK OF ‘LATE SHOW’ ORIGINALS, EXCLUDING CONAN’S PREMIERE WEEK, SINCE THE ‘FRIENDS’ FINALE

CONAN’S MARGIN SOARS TO 177 PERCENT IN ADULTS 18-34

JIMMY FALLON OUT-DELIVERS LETTERMAN IN 18-49 VIEWERS BY 1 PERCENT AND IN 18-34 VIEWERS BY 61 PERCENT, DESPITE STARTING AN HOUR LATER THAN LETTERMAN

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – June 18, 2009 – “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” has delivered a convincing victory in its second week on the air, with dominant wins in every important demographic – adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 – plus a victory in total viewers.

Conan won the week over all cable and broadcast entertainment competition, beating his closest rival, CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” by a 79 percent margin in adult 18-49 viewers, despite the controversy involving Gov. Sarah Palin that has boosted interest in “Late Show,” and a lineup of prominent “Late Show” guests last week that included Howard Stern and Julia Roberts. The 79 percent advantage is “Tonight’s” most dominant win over a full week of “Late Show” originals, excluding Conan’s premiere week, in five years (since the week of the “Friends” finale, May 3-7, 2004).

Conan’s lead last week soared to 177 percent in the younger half of the target 18-49 demographic, adults 18-34 (1.040 million adults 18-34 vs. 376,000). In men 18-34, the margin was 245 percent (545,000 vs. 158,000). The median age of Conan’s audience last week was 45.7, 11 years younger than Letterman’s 56.7.

“Conan continues to out-perform our most optimistic expectations,” said Rick Ludwin, Executive Vice President, Late Night and Primetime Series, NBC Entertainment. “This business is all about delivering the key demographic groups, and for Conan to dominate every important demographic through his first two weeks is a real ratings home run.”

Conan has won 10 of 10 nights to date over “Late Show” in adults 18-49 and virtually every other important demographic. Conan has also led every significant demo for the first two nights of the current week, including June 15, the night of David Letterman’s second apology to Gov. Palin, according to Nielsen’s fast national ratings.

NBC’s demographic dominance last week extended to 12:35 a.m. ET, where “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” not only beat CBS’s “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” in all key categories, but out-delivered Letterman by 1 percent in adult 18-49 viewers (1.141 million adults 18-49 vs. 1.126 million) and by 61 percent in adult 18-34 viewers (606,000 vs. 376,000), despite Jimmy’s later start time. In 18-49 rating, Jimmy tied Dave on five of five nights last week.

In its two weeks following “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien,” “Late Night” has won over “Late Late Show” by an average of 77 percent in adult 18-49 viewers, up from a 46 percent margin of victory for Jimmy Fallon earlier this season.

For the week of June 8-12, Conan’s average 2.013 million adults 18-49 topped the 1.126 million of Letterman; in total viewers, Conan’s audience of 3.771 million persons beat Letterman’s 3.669 million; and in adults 18-34, Conan’s 1.040 million out-scored Letterman’s 376,000. At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon’s 1.141 million adults 18-49 for the week out-delivered Ferguson’s 665,000; in total viewers, Jimmy’s 1.944 million beat Ferguson’s 1.720 million; and in adults 18-34, Jimmy’s 606,000 topped Ferguson’s 247,000.

  1. Juan Mariscal says:

It does not matter if Conan beat Letterman in key demos, Letterman beat Conan in Total Viewers so far this WEEK, and total viewers is what matters!!!

  2. Ron says:

    “total viewers is what matters!!!”

    To whom?

  3. Juan, perhaps that’s all that matters to YOU. But when it comes to making money (which we’re pretty sure matters more to the networks), it just isn’t so. The only thing that matters are the demos and total viewers don’t matter at all.

Even in the week above, all three shows (Tonight, Late Show and Nightline) averaged roughly the same number of total viewers.

  4. Bill Gorman says:

Ron, to the writers of press releases and wishful fans! Of course! ;)

  5. Dennis says:

Anyway, YAY for Conan! He’s so much funnier than that horny old bastard Letterman. I hope he can hold on to the great ratings.

  6. TSA says:

It’s a bit hyperbolic to say that total viewers don’t matter “at all”. And even if total viewers isn’t as important as demos, winning in total viewers would be something of a personal victory to Letterman. You know he has to want to be ahead in SOMETHING after playing second-fiddle to Leno (the guy who got the job he wanted) for so many years.

  7. TSA, fair enough as to the CBS spinmeisters. I don’t know if Dave really cares that much or not after years of being #2, but it would be hard to imagine he doesn’t care a little.

As for total numbers not mattering at all, it’s true that is something of an overstatement. But in a hypothetical where one show averaged 5 million viewers who are all over 50 and one show averages 2.5 million where half of the viewers are under 50, the show with 2.5 million is still probably going to have the higher ad revenue.

  8. KT8711 says:

Do we know yet how Conan and Dave did last night? Even though Dave beat him by a 700,000 total viewers on Monday and by 100,000 viewers on Tuesday, I’m predicting a strong comeback in numbers for Conan last night- he had Kobe Bryant on as a guest.

  9. KT8711, no, I haven’t seen anything yet. Check Hibberd’s site, thrfeed.com (he has been regularly posting them). So far he doesn’t have any info on last night, but he does point out w/regard to the info above that it was The Tonight’s Shows fewest viewers since 1995.

  10. KT8711 says:

    Thanks for the info.

I missed it earlier, but that’s a huge win for Jimmy Fallon in the demos. To beat out Letterman, even when he airs in a later time slot?

I’m really interested to see how Conan does when he has Leno as a lead-in again in September. It may give NBC an edge over CBS. Leno could potentially bring in the high numbers of total viewers again, and even provide a boost to Conan in that area, provided viewers don’t tune out right after Leno.

  11. Petrie says:

How does Conan’s demo compare to the average Leno demo?

  12. Petrie says:

‘As for total numbers not mattering at all, it’s true that is something of an overstatement. But in a hypothetical where one show averaged 5 million viewers who are all over 50 and one show averages 2.5 million where half of the viewers are under 50, the show with 2.5 million is still probably going to have the higher ad revenue.’

What is the ratio regarding demos? Like would 1 person in the demo equal 4 that are over 50?

  13. Petrie, there’s no fair way to do the comparison unless you go back and look at Leno this time last year. But early last fall Leno was in the 1.3-1.5 range.

As for figuring out the ratios. Figure there are roughly 132 million 18-49 year olds. It won’t be precise because of rounding, but if you see an 18-49 demo rating of 1.5, that means ~ 1.5% of ~132 million or roughly 1.98 million out of 3.8 million, so a little more than half, in the Conan example for the week above.

  14. Rick Holy says:

I’ll be honest and admit that I haven’t watched Conan yet in his role as Tonight Show host. But what I do know from years of watching Letterman is that he just isn’t funny (whether that blame is his or his writers I don’t no) – and between he and Paul, the “they’re getting weirder” factor has increased every year.

Letterman’s jokes mostly bomb – and then the only way he gets laughs is by making silly faces (i.e., part of the “weirder” factor) which solicit laughter probably only with the help of a lighted up “Laugh” sign or something similar. Honestly, sometimes it’s just plain painful to watch him anymore.

I don’t want to sound like an old fuddy duddy (because I’m only 45), but none of these guys hold a candle to Johnny Carson. Johnny could do it all – the monologues – QUALITY interviews no matter WHO the interviewee was – hilarious skits, etc. It’s been what – 15 years? – since Johnny’s departure. Honestly, watch old episodes of Carson and then watch ANY of these guys – there’s no comparison.

And you can’t use the arguement that “it was a different era.” In the late night talk show genre, it’s either entertaining or it’s not, whether it was on the air 20 years ago or last night. I just find it hard to believe that in all this time there isn’t SOMEONE who has come along that would be even a close comparison to Carson. Perhaps Jon Stewart, if he could also do the kind of sketch comedy that Carson could pull off.

Eventually, I’ll get around to watching Conan and see how he’s doing. Kimmel is funny enough (if a little lacking in interviewing skills) – but Letterman is just plain unbearable anymore.

  15. KT8711 says:

    Rick,

I know it may seem like I can’t possibly know what I’m talking about because I’m in my 20s, but I watched Carson when I was a very little kid, and then later watched the tons of old taped Carson shows my parents had, and clips of him on YouTube. I agree with you, nobody did it as good as Johnny. I can watch clips of him from decades ago, and still laugh my butt off.

If you asked me a few years ago, I would have said that Letterman came a very close second to Carson as late night TV talk show hosts go. But I have really changed my opinion on Letterman in recent years. I feel like he has become very crotchety and hard to watch. He used to do comedy bits that were kind of “out there” and would be energetic about them, like “Will it Float?”… I used to enjoy him immensely. I feel like lately, he’s just become rather boring to watch and seems like he’s phoning it in. I used to always watch Letterman over Leno, but in the last few years, I stopped watching the 11:30 shows all together. Until this month, I would just switch back and forth between Conan and Craig Ferguson at 12:30.

I’m going to warn you- Conan seems to be a polarizing host. You either love him or hate him. I personally think he brings a fresh energy to 11:30… other people think he’s obnoxious. He does a lot more produced comedy bits and sketches than Letterman does, and his humor is much more visual.

  16. Mike says:

CBS takes in the most ad revenue, so I guess the total audience matters to them.

  17. Mike, CBS as a whole in prime time takes in the most advertising based on estimates we saw. But that has nothing to do with late night programming at 11:30p. Though if you have any data on that, please feel free to share it or link to it.

  18. Bill Gorman says:

Mike, CBS made the most advertising money because they have the most age demo group viewers over the longest period of prime-time (22 hours/week). Their total viewer average is meaningless to their advertising revenue.

Fox actually made more advertising money/primetime hour this past season, but because they have only 15 hours of primetime, they didn’t top CBS’s total.

  19. Kevin says:

As long as Dave is still in charge of 11:30 to 12:30, CBS will never win the key demos, I think.

One thing I have observed in the past few weeks (and I believe most of you also noticed) is ABC is picking up a lot of new viewers, especially Kimmel’s show. They are the biggest winner because of Jay’s departure from late night.

I will be interested to read their spin sometime :)

  20. Juan Mariscal says:

Letterman wins in Total Viewers, Whether Conan Likes it or not, he would want to win in Total Viewers, and the Late Show brings in over 200 million dollars in AD revenue for CBS, that is a lot of Money!

  21. Sloan says:

So do I understand this correctly, Letterman did actually not beat Conan in total viewers for the week? I guess the audience figures changed quite a bit from the overnights.

  22. KT8711 says:

Juan, the Tonight Show has historically brought in ton of money in ad revenue for NBC as well. And if Conan keeps destroying in the demos, that isn’t going to change any time soon. If we’re talking about ad revenue, the demos are what adverstisers care about.

If you read the press release correctly, it states that Conan is the one winning in total viewers. That might change after this week, due to all the free PR the Sarah Palin controversy has been giving Letterman. Give it a few weeks… I think there will be a lot of back and forth in the total viewers.

  23. Sloan, on average Conan narrowly edged out Dave for total viewers for the week. Many of the numbers cited for last week were preliminary metered market numbers (which are offline this week due to DTV transition) and they might have changed, but Dave could’ve won several nights head-to-head and still narrowly lost in the weekly averages. Unfortunately these numbers lack the day-by-day numbers to make such comparisons.

  24. Catherine says:

The bottom line is that Letterman makes a lot of money for CBS, demos or not. The biggest problem for CBS is what to do when Letterman leaves.

  25. maddie8 says:

If you look at the numbers, although Conan is winning easily over Letterman in key demos, those key demos are LOWER than what Leno was getting.

CBS should put out a press release showing how many less people are watching The Tonight Show now in ALL key demos.

Ben Silverman said Conan had to get at least 90 percent of Leno’s ratings for NBC to consider him successful. He hasn’t even gotten close to that.

Also keep in mind that when Letterman went to CBS, CBS did not have a late night show. Letterman established a beachhead, and has made a ton of money for CBS over the years. It’s questionable whether Leno or Conan could have gone to another network and been a success the way Letterman was.

Yup, Letterman’s tired, cranky, and lord knows why he enjoys picking the worst monolog jokes that he gets. But he’s still the best broadcaster of the three.

  26. Kevin says:

    Catherine,

IMO Ferguson can do that job once Letterman leaves.

    Maybe even better.

  27. ryan C. says:

NBC can spin this as much and for as long as they want but the real story is that the Tonight Show had its lowest rated week since 1995 and Conan is doing worse in all key demos than Leno did.

Does anyone really think that if Zucker had it all to do over again he’d still fire Leno in his prime? Not even Zucker is idiot enough to do that twice.

The only thing better about Conan vs Leno is the show. Conan is trying to be funny. Leno was trying to do what he thought would get the most viewers.

  28. nkinsey says:

If total viewers were even ALMOST as important as 18-49, CBS would have kept almost all of the shows they cancelled this season (not counting the sitcoms). Without a Trace had a HUGE HH number, and Eleventh Hour did higher than a lot of prime shows on other stations. Alas, 18-49 rules the day; so those shows went away…

  29. bertholobert says:

Conan is just not funny. His ratings will fall and NBC will have to find a replacement!!!!!!

  30. Julia says:

I checked the press releases on this site from January through now and Leno was almost always at 1.4. He was at 1.5 twice in March, and went down to 1.2 or 1.3 a few times. There was no 18-49 reported for Leno’s last week, which had a big ratings surge.

Edit: And the earliest ratings on this site are from June 16-20, 2008 (so the week after these ratings) and Leno was at 1.3.

  31. prada says:

You can find the daily ratings here.
    http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/06/late-night-ratings-conan-week-two-letterman.html

They show both the ratings in viewers each nite and also in demos each nite for the first 13 days of the Tonite Show compared to Letterman. The last three days are based on preliminary numbers.

  32. gerrylovesme says:

i’m rooting for conan… so YEAHEY CONAN!!!..

  33. Rick: “between he and Paul, the “they’re getting weirder” factor has increased every year.”

That’s why he’s still funny – to me, anyway. Paul has always been a hoot. The weirder they get, the funnier they are.

The problem with both of them is very simple – they’re getting OLD and SLOW! You can’t expect Letterman to be dancing on the roof any more, there’s no energy there. He’s 62. Paul is 59 and overweight. Conan is 46. Fallon is 34. It’s that simple.

Carson was definitely better than Letterman in terms of range: monologues, skits, and interviews, and the skits are mostly what made him better. “Teatime Movie” in particular was the best repetitive skit he did (I still remember some episodes of that), and Letterman never was a big skit guy.

I don’t think Carson was all that better in interviewing than Letterman in his earlier days, but Letterman seems to be less interested in some of his guests these days. Whether that’s because of him or the guests, I’m not sure.

I think it boils down to energy. Carson was very energetic in everything he did, Letterman less so, and even less so now, due to his age. He’ll be retiring in the next three years, probably.

  34. fleadog99 says:

What about people who watch the shows online, and do not watch it during airtime, how is that factored in. This is the age of internet based everything. I think the crowd that follows conan is more younger and more tech savy, to either record it or watch it online. Who ever says Conan is not funny, is prob. over 40.

  35. Tyson says:

I love Conan, and I’m glad to see him kicking some @$$. Of course, I love Letterman too, just not enough to actually watch him. (Would someone please get rid of Paul?) Leno was just painful. I never understood his success. Maybe it’s because his show had brighter colors than Letterman. There’s that segment of the American population that’s always going to go for bright colors and flashing lights.

I’ve watched a few of Conan’s new shows, and I think he’s still finding his feet. I do remember when he started on Late Night, he was a bit awkward for awhile. I think he’s still trying to figure out how to be himself while also being that 11:30 guy that the network needs him to be. I expect him to improve, and then build ratings steadily, same as he did on Late Night.

  36. Jay says:

“Conan is just not funny. His ratings will fall and NBC will have to find a replacement!!!!!!”

What is it about certain people on these boards that want Conan to fail so badly? These poor people with no sense of humor must hate him for some reason. I mean, I don’t watch Letterman but I certainly don’t hate the guy. Same for Kimmel and any other late night host.

And is it just wishful thinking or do they actually think he’s going to get cancelled any day now? Because I can tell you that is not going to happen. If you want proof, just come back in a year and tell me how he’s doing.

  37. 3.8 million viewers a night for The Tonight Show? That’s it?

  38. Do you mean 3.8 million households? Then that boost the total viewship to about 8 million or so but 3.8 total viewers seems very low to me.

What did Carson get in his prime?

  39. Chris says:

Letterman always seems angry or bored, or a combination of both. He’s just not funny or relevant anymore. CBS should save the $30-something million a year they pay him and get Kimmel or someone else to replace him.

  40. D. B. Wells says:

Maybe Letterman needs another “scandal”, Who should he insult this time?

  41. JohnQPublic-Age22 says:

Rick Holy says basically that “Letterman is unfunny”
    June 18th, 2009 at 11:25 am

Well, I pretty much agree with that, but I’d watch him a THOUSAND times before I would tune in to the “EVEN LESS FUNNY” Conan.

What you describe about Dave is the EXACT same issue with Conan – and NOBODY at CBS or NBC seems to be “getting that.” BOTH of them are patently “unfunny.”
Conan had that fake “traffic thing” with cars that looked like a Playskool prank, and he continues to have unfunny crap like “Conando” – I am not THREE YEARS OLD any more – it is NOT funny! They rely on Conan’s stupid expressions just like they rely on Dave’s – that’s about the ONLY thing funny about those two guys.

Jay was okay, but I never found him funny either. Feguson and Kimmel, even when they are corny, are funny. Jimmy Fallon is monotone and boring, but sometimes funny (mostly not, though). He falls very flat, much like Conan and Dave.

Dave should retire and let someone else step in. Dude had heart surgery for heaven’s sake! Retire now instead of dying during the taping of his show!
And I NEVER COULD STAND Paul Schaefer! And Conan’s band needs to be put of of EVERYONE’S misery, as well as that stupid Richter dude – he make me want to vomit. Kevin was the coolest band person. That Max Weinberg crap is on par with Paul Shaefer’s crap – it STINKS! Now, that cool black lady chick on Dave, she can sing some amazing notes!!!

Get rid of Dave, and move Conan back to his old slot – they both are unfunny, mostly boring, and Rick Holy, you are right – Dave & Paul get weirder all the time!

I put my age (22), because I’m in the so-called ‘key demographic,’ but they seem to have at least two takes on that: 18-39 and 18-49, and they use whichever “feels best” at the time. Also, total viewers DOES MATTER – you NEVER heard one word about “demographics” when it was Jay vs. Dave – just basically who had the most viewers (okay, granted, we did get occasional details on the demographics) but, bottom line, it was who had most viewers, which Jay blew away Dave all the time, so naturally, the demographics were on Jay’s side, even without any mention of them.

BUT, you didn’t see NBC say, “Dave beat us in overall viewers,” but last week, you saw just that, “Blah Blah, Conan had the most viewers, blah blah.” And this week, since Conan LOST, all they can do is try to, as it says, “SPIN” the numbers to make themselves ‘feel good’ and feel as if they didn’t lose – well, they LOST. Period. I don’t think Dave EVER will get that younger demographic, but still he will consistently beat out Conan, UNLESS NBC TAKES ACTION and moves Conan back to where he should be!

I think it might start getting to a “dead heat” / virtual tie, since both those flatly unfunny guys are now competing – BUT, if CBS talks Dave into going ahead and retiring, they can ALWAYS WIN against the “more boring” Conan, no matter who they put on.

For 3-year-olds to 5-year-olds, Conan obviously is funny – but, if you’ve graduated high school, you should be past his Crayon pranks, and looking for something TRULY funny.

  42. JohnQPublic-Age22 says:

    Tyson -

Conan “steadily built ratings” on his later slot, but only because of Jay’s lead-in – and because people left there TV’s on.

And to ‘Jay’ above, I will come back in a year and see – just like you said.
Only thing that will save Conan is if CBS leaves Dave on the air, Conan MIGHT have a chance. Other than that, if he TRULY tanks, which it looks like he’s starting to do, then they will have to continue to rally all the kids with the pimples (I still have plenty ;-) to start tuning in to Conan more; and NBC will try to keep EATING THE COST, even if Conan is losing steadily, because they HATE to admit they’ve made a mistake.

Give it year, but I don’t think Conan will do any better – he sucks as an interviewer – so does Dave, btw, but Dave is better at that part than Conan.
I expected Conan to get better, and he did get a bit better at interviewing, but then he hit a plateau and has stayed at that “corny stage” ever since. Dave, as bad as he is, and corny as he is, got better overall, but seems to be at the point of being SENILE now – he stutters and forgets where he is and just is kind of like the way Bill Cosby is now – WONDERFUL PEOPLE – both Dave and Bill – but they are just “past their prime” and need to just retire. Cosby was on one of the shows (Dave?) a few nights back, and he virtually didn’t even know where he was and was painfully unfunny – and he is one of THE MOST FUNNY PERSONS WHO EVER LIVED (when he was in his prime and on the Cosby show).

It’s like CBS cannot work-out a “contract buy-out” with Dave? I mean, are they stupid? I think they want to wait and see how Conan does against Dave, but really, people are just going to stop watching BOTH shows, because they are both horrible! Who wants to watch Conan with that stupid “brushing his hand past his hair and grasping at staws to try and be funny” and his stupid “jump” that he does; that’s as bad as Dave trying to “spin around” sometimes when he comes in!

I will be at the “Fire Dave” rally every night this coming week – please join me.
The following week, I will be at the “Give Conan back his Old Slot” rally.

Okay, kidding a bit, but Dave joked that they had protestors outside trying to push the network to get him fired. Heck, with his ratings (LACK OF) over the past 5+ years, the network doesn’t NEED any extra push to fire him!

Heck, hire him on as a consultant or something – just PLEASE MAKE HIM RETIRE!
    I’ve had enough of Gap-Tooth-Old-Guy-With-A-Bad-Toupee and Red-Headed-Unfunny-Boring-Wannabe.

I’m tuning out altogether but, when I DO tune in, I’m watching Dave – sorry, I just loved Conan in his old slot – even as unfunny and boring as he is – he has his moments. And well, I definitely tuned in to the episode with Michelle Pfeiffer – come on, she’s 51 years old, and looks better than most 20-year-old women!

FIRE DAVE, MOVE CONAN, FIRE DAVE, MOVE CONAN! :-)

One thing I really dislike about Conan’s monologues is that they’re so SLLLOWWWWW — he says one joke, then has to practically do a skit about the joke. At least with Leno, it was full of a ton of little jokes/observations, so people probably found at least some of them funny. With Conan, there’s like 6 jokes, and the rest of the time is wasted with him doing facial expressions and roaming around the studio like a loose monkey. It worked REALLY well on his 12:35am show…not so much at 11:35.

I used to Love to watch Letterman over Leno or anyone.I Used to be his greatest fan but in the past few years he has gone way to the Left and to Political and thats not his Job as a Comedian.Carson never did that.Carson would be turning over in his grave. No=One was as funny and as classy as Carson. What happened to Dave in the past few years. He is not funny and has gone to left in his politics and it has turned alot of my friends off.I will never watch him again and im not that political.I wish he would go back to being that cool guy he used to be.What happened to him…

That whole thing about CBS bringing in more ad revenue?

Olive Garden’s contract with CBS for programming during the Letterman hour ends as of July 1st, and will not be renewed. For the rest of CBS, yes. But for Letterman, no.

Hellman’s/Best Foods has removed all advertising on CBS network properties.

Embassy Suites has also removed all advertising on CBS network properties.

That’s three that have removed or did not renew their advertising and/or are going to NBC with their business. So, the total viewers issue is going to be a non-factor when there is less amounts of ad revenue to speak of.

Juan Mariscal is an imbecile, and knows nothing of ad revenue.

  48. Dumb and Dumber says:

Watching Conan is like watching a dog die in the road. Letterman is no better. The people who watch Conan have their heads where the sun doesn’t shine, how can anyone with a sense of humor think this (chit) is funny, he is boring, stupid and should be taken back to the cellar where he belongs, so all the late night stoners have something to laugh at while smoking their weed. That is the only waqy Conan could be funny. Letterman has been a loser since he lost to Leno for the Night show. This is from a 61 year old man with a since of humor and knows the difference between funny and garbage.
