It’s pretty hard to gauge the impact of the DTV transition when it’s happened in the middle of weak summer programming, reruns, and burn-off.

And again, viewership has been dropping anyway, and I expect this fall to have lower numbers than fall 2008 regardless of anything else.

It’s a Friday night in the summer. What did you guys expect? People are out living their lives. Besides now that Dollhouse is renewed, I thought Nick C proved once and for all that your index doesn’t work for either Friday or Saturday nights.

Numb3rs is the best! Seems it always gets the most viewers of the CBS friday night repeats.
So glad it’s coming back for season 6. Its numbers at the end of season five were going up, so maybe they’ll continue to go up next season!

I WILL watch Dollhouse when it comes on, I’ve decided. Reruns of Buffy allowed me to see just how well Whedon eventually uses his female leads and secondary characters – Sarah, Charisma Carpenter, Allyson Hannigan, Michelle Trachtenberg ( sp?) are a who’s who of attractive juvenile female actors from the late 1990’s. Elisha Dushkin could have the career Elizabeth Berkely didn’t quite have, if its done right, because her’s is one beautiful, aloof, domineering yet sweet persona. I had to hunker down when the feminists lobbed a few shots into the trenches, but I’m glad the show was renewed and look forward to seeing it for the first time.

Privileged numbers are very strong for a friday rerun of a cancelled show. I think CW is making a mistake. And btw i don’t like the show haha

No, but Eliza is – and one of these days I suspect Summer Glau will be. I’ll take both of them along with Yvonne and Sarah – especially since Yvonne and Sarah won’t be back for MONTHS (unless I download season one of Chuck, I’ve got season two).

In the meantime, while I’m waiting for both shows, I’ll take Gabrielle Anwar and Anna Paquin on Burn Notice and True Blood, and Gina Bellman (THE sultriest babe on TV today) and Beth Riesgraf on Leverage.

One thing I like about Burn Notice is that the show is mostly a “procedural” but it has a nice serial overall story arc that they keep moving along a bit every week. Very well done.

Although certainly not the only factor (especially considering OTA viewership is only 15-20% these days, I believe), having a couple of their O&Os being virtually impossible to recieve OTA doesn’t help. A couple of the stations have already petitioned the FCC for more power, and hopefully will get approved in short order.

Go figure – a VHF frequency, an urban enviroment, and a low-power signal (even for VHF) adds up to a greatly reduced coverage area. Couldn’t see that one coming!

Alex, just those 2 episodes last night — I think along the same lines of “it’s never too early to market” CBS wanted to go early (and perhaps often) with promoting the spin off, but I think the rest of the 2008-2009 season will wait for late September before beginning to air on USA. USA also somewhat heavily promoted on-air 3 episodes of NCIS that it ran from 8p-11p on Wednesday night describing them as “never before aired on USA”, but I believe those episodes were all from last season (or possibly even the season before).
