Definitions:
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Well, Kings did a little better- not that it could do any worse.
I missed both of the last two episodes of Kings, but neither aired on the NBC affiliate in SF due to SF Giants baseball. And rather than air them later on the NBC affiliate they just bounced them to an independent (KICU) where they aired at 8pm. None of that viewing is counted in the numbers above — not that it would’ve gotten Kings over the 2M hurdle if it was.
Well Harper raised from 3.15 mil to 3.75 mil.
wow, those are really strong numbers for kings. KINGS FOR A SECOND SEASON!!! please visit http://www.bringvictory.com to support us! (click the link even if you dont support kings!)
Ian McShane in “Burger Kings”
“Would you think fried potatoes be a wise counterpart to thine sandwich?”
Seriously, the show is unwatchable.
I love kings. And let’s see the bright side. It did increase 66,6% in this episode.
Next week we can even pass 2 million.
djm……i really hope your kidding its canceled already move on
ahhhhh RICK ROLLED
I didn’t even realize they were showing Castle last night. Oh well. At least I got to watch Kings. Looking at the ratings Kings is getting, I’m not sure why they would leave it on. I do hope if they decide not to show the remaining episodes, they put it on their website or on Hulu.
should i try Merlin?
haha sam, you didnt think i was serious with that link?
Kings will be on hulu.com starting June 24 with episodes on til the end. Hulu and NBC are partners so if NBC decides to pull it, it will continue on there. But considering there’s nothing else to air, Kings will most likely run its course. Harper’s Island is a really good show and knowing that CBS planned on it JUST being a 13-part mystery event, it is easier to accept it won’t be back.
why don’t people like Kings, i love that show
Kings may be too intelligent for American audiences. I’ve watched from the begining when it was on Sunday Nights. I love the way they film the show and it looks great in HD. Wish they had more viewers and the show had gotten picked up but thankful that they will air the remaining episodes that were filmed.
Oh, come on. Kings is one of the few examples where American audiences are more intelligent than the show. It just missed the mark badly, and good riddance, as far as I’m concerned.
I found Kings utterly pretentious, dull, and incomprehensible, not to mention that the actors playing David and Michelle couldn’t act worth a damn. But some people love the show.
Christoper, definitely give Merlin a shot if you’re a scifi/fantasy fan, and even if you’re not, try it anyway. It’s very well made and very highly entertaining, even if it feels like Smallville set in the middle ages.
alright i will give it a try
i bet ratings from Merlin will be off cause its not aring on the west coast and thankful to see it here on the on east coast
Poor Harper’s Island =(
Yet still one of the better watched shows of the night! =)
djm, was that needed? No!
Harper’s Island did show growth from last week and did grow from a repeat of Without a Trace, so it wasnt all that bad.
sam does the rick roll ever end?
Caught Kings – a power failure? Dull and plodding episodes like that is why people arent watching it. Then the Home Alone kid pushes a button and turns the power back on? People walking around, flashbacks (this isnt LOST), Wow, that was exciting! No wonder NBC is 4th place network. I was hoping Day One would succeed where Jericho failed – now? Im pretty much expecting it to end up like Kings.
MikeJA, for the love of all things please dont bring up the “Americans are stupid because they dont watch my tv show” argument. it gets old reeealy fast.
Harper’s Island has sort of hit its tacky stride as we get down to the end. I find it much more honest than Kings which is pretentious nonsense as oppossed to good old fashioned slasher-movie-mayhem-lite of Harper’s.
There are more new episodes of Eli Stone? Someone please email me with the scoop?

Jim, the series finale of Eli Stone will be broadcast on July 11 at 10pm. All episodes will be on the DVD.
The Cinematography on Kings is very well done and personally I enjoy it quite much. If you get a chance check it out looks great in HD. The show is ambitious and for what its worth I found enjoyment in it thru the cast and the weaving in of the stories from the Books of Kings found in the Old Testament of the Bible. I admit the writers did change many things to try and update the story but still all is within the frame of the books. Perhaps the requirement to fully understand the show, knowledge of the Books of Kings from the Bible, is what was lacking and maybe even some found the source of the material too heavy. But I will watch the remaining shows and enjoy whats left.
I’m loving Harper’s Island…but then again…I love slasher movies…My co-workers talk about it at first break Monday mornings…We think we have kinda figured out who the “KILLERSS” are…It has definitely gotten better and better each week. I think it would have done much better following 48 hours but that’s just me..Scheduling can “kill” a show (no pun intended)..and this type of show requires better scheduling in order to keep the viewers following week after week. I do love the concept of a “13 week mini-series” for Saturdays..
shelly: you don’t like Kigns but you like Merlin??? lol
There’s been a lot of remarks about CBS not getting outside their comfort zone of procedurals such as CSI, Criminal Minds, NCIS, etc. They at least tried something different with Harper’s Island instead of cheap reality stuff. They may be the network of old white people, but they seem willing to test diffeent concepts. I like the idea of the closed-end 13 week series. It might not make sense from an economic standpoint if you can’t put it on DVD or syndicate it later on. Maybe they should have shown it on consecutive nights over a shorter period.
Glad I could amuse you, Ricardo. Taste is the most subjective thing there is – one person’s trash is another’s treasure. Like I’ve said in other posts, I happen to love scifi and fantasy and BBC shows. And I know I’m not the only one who found Kings utterly mindnumbingly boring. That’s the great thing about America – you can like and dislike whatever you want.
Btw, for anyone who wanted to watch the Castle pilot and didn’t know it was on, it’s back up on ABC’s website:

Love Kings, it honestly should be on a station that would do it right like HBO or Showtimes. When I first saw this show on Hulu, I had never heard about it and watched an episode and loved it. Definatley a show thats not working due to apsolutley no promotions or advertising. I can understand people not liking it but I really think if more people knew about it more people would like it then not. Sucks if your not a hulu user or a friend of someone who likes kings because you’ll never hear about this show otherwise.
Really? Going to bring up that “it didnt get enough/right advertising” argument? And to MichaelJA, I haven’t heard from anyone who thought the show was “too heavy”. That was not a reason it failed.
I honestly didn’t hate the show, it was merely ok I thought, but I only watched the first two or three episodes. What really irritates me is hearing from people who still believe it can come back/think it was too smart for its audience. It really wasn’t.
It’s the truth, have you seen any commercials promoting it? yeah me neither. And you name a show on NBC besides The office that is above average. I think this show is better then 90% of shows out there and 95% better then any show on NBC. You also forgot to explain or prove your sentence about it getting advertisment.
The weeks before it premiered, and especially, especially the week leading up to the premiere it got heavy promotion by NBC. I watch The Office, 30 Rock, and Chuck all on the broadcast station, not the internet, so I remember seeing several dozen ads for it, at times it was at every commercial break. I decided to watch just from how much press it was given.
And then it bombed, and kept dropping week after week, and I saw less and less ads for it, because it had done so poorly even through the promotions.
So your right, I haven’t seen any promotions for it; not in like 3 months, because thats how long its been dead. No point in promoting it.
I honestly didn’t think Kings had much more then a miniseries in it. Regardless of my opinion others on here argued my thoughts were wrong and that Kings had tons of storyline it could offer because of what the story is based on. Regardless of any of that BS I stand by my original thoughts Kings was a miniseries and the ratings show that. If it has a good ending I’d consider buying the DVD.
I’m just really glad CBS is letting Harper’s Island run it’s course. To be honest, it’s not really a great show, and it took forever to really get going. I mostly watched it out of a feeling of obligation: as a huge horror fan, I feel the need to support horror on TV. That said, it is entertaining, and some of the characters are quite compelling. I would be pretty bummed if CBS pulled it early and left me hanging until the DVDs released. Thanks for following through despite the ratings, CBS! I am one of those few that are watching.
It’s so sad to hear about Michael Jackson. As a dancer, I’m performed almost every one of his hits in some form or another. A lot of celebrities have died recently, but he’s the first one that had a big impact on my life personally. It’s a really weird feeling. Anyway, nice post.
KIngs is doing terrible even though its running its course, it tied with a Smallville repeat.
KINGS! KINGS! KINGS! it’s a great show! If you’ve watched it and didn’t like it, fine, you’re done w/ it & no one’s making u watch it. If u haven’t seen it tho, you should! The plot is getting thicker every episode. People aren’t watching it now days bcs I think they want light, brainless, humor now when times r tuff for many. But, if YOU are looking for something that’ll make u think a little, intrigue u a little, scoot u down to the edge of your seat a little… KINGS!
