Disney Edges USA To Top Cable Prime-time

Posted on 30 June 2009 by Bill Gorman

The cable TV week was anything but typical with a number of big shows scrambling the usual network prime-time rankings. Boosted by the debut (and repeats of) Princess Protection Program, Disney Channel nipped ahead of perennial leader USA by just over 30,000 average viewers with 3.339 million to take the #1 spot for the week of June 22-28.

The BET Awards ‘09 propelled BET into the #3 spot, far above its typical level with an average of 2.371 million. And Jon & Kate Plus 8 kept TLC in the top 10 with 1.587 million viewers.

Nickelodeon, as usual, took the #1 spot for Total Day cable viewers with an average of 2.210 million.

Note that we are currently in discussion with Nielsen Media about our use of their data. One element of that discussion is limiting our lists to 20 items. Sorry.
