Godfather, unfortunately these fast affiliate numbers are not good for looking at viewership of live events as you tried to do.

The numbers, for example, for 8-9pm measure that time period in each time zone separately. So 8-9pm was the first innings in the Eastern time zone, but nearly the end of the game in the Pacific time zone.

I love how almost no one here was talking about the actual events of the Allstar game. I’m actually a little surprised the numbers improved in the 8PM vs. 9PM hours. Basically, most of the scoring was in the 1st 2 innings, with the NL getting all its runs in the bottom of the 2nd. The AL tied it in the 5th, then won it late. There was a big lag in the 3rd, 4th, and most of the 5th. That’s about a 30-45 minute block of game time with little action. You’d think it would affect ratings considering its sports, but I guess not. Is it normal for audience levels to drop with nationally televised sports if the game is boring or a blowout?

ken, my guess is that both Fox and NBC are happy with last night’s numbers. The All-Star Game was the most viewed since 1999, and you are correct that it gets heavy ratings in the male demos.

And AGT is very, very cheap.

I’m going to guess that AGT cost a lot less than whatever Fox is paying for the all-star game to achieve similar results both in total audience and demos, although baseball probably skews male and AGT probably skews female.

Family Secrets did pretty well at 10pm considering it was against the All Star Game and it had the terrible 0.8 demo as a lead in.

AGT won’t be coming out of the summer spot, but NBC has a spin off called America’s Got No Talent coming to the 10pm slot Monday – Friday this fall.

I wouldn’t be surprised if NBC moves AGT out of the summer spot in 2010.
