Cake Boss Renewed By TLC

Posted on 29 July 2009 by Bill Gorman

In recent week’s when Jon & Kate Plus 8 was making all the ratings noise on TLC, Cake Boss was benefiting from its lead in. Now, with the future of J&K+8 in doubt, Cake Boss may have to step up big in its second season.

TLC is whipping up a second season of “Cake Boss.”

“Cake Boss” first launched on May 25, and has averaged 2.3 million viewers since its launch. Show has been helped by its lead-in, “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” particularly given the media frenzy surrounding episodes of that show earlier this summer.

I like how Kate’s birthday surprise at Charm City Cakes was featured on both J&K+8 and on for a brief second on “Ace of Cakes” on Food Network. TLC is not very big on network synergy? I don’t watch Cake Boss at all. Saw the commercial and have seen the guy on Food Network Cake Challenges. Not someone I’m interested in.

JON AND KATE IS NOT THE REASON FOR THIS SHOWS RATINGS!!!THIS SHOW IS GREAT NO MATTER COMES ON BEFORE OR AFTER IT.YOU REALLY NEED TO THINK ABOUT NOT SHOWING JON AND KATE SHOW ANYMORE. IT IS NOT A TLC FAMILY SHOW ANYMMORE. I DON’T WATCH IT NOW.CAKE BOSS IS A FAMILY SHOW AND I WILL ALWAYS WATCH IT NO MATTER WHAT TIME IT COMES ON.

i see it as the poor man’s ace of cakes

Well this news just takes the cake.

Why do people watch some guy making cakes? I dunno. Now if he threw a knife across the room and skewered an employee, that would be interesting. At least shows like the Repo Men show with the morbidly obese family of Repossessors are somewhat interesting watching people get cracked with crowbars and hit with a taser and peeing their pants. I keep waiting for the obnoxiously loud fat repo-woman, who is wider than she is tall, to keel over from a heart attack. Plus its just fun watching dead beats lose their vehicles.

OMG… I love Cake Boss. Compared to “Ace of Cakes” “Best Wedding Cakes” and any other cake show out there Buddy’s cakes come out of his bakery with perfection! Way to go Carlo’s Bakery!!! TLC keep Cake Boss #1!
