GHOST HUNTERS CONTINUES RATINGS SUCCESS

#1 Cable Program in 9pm Hour

#2 Most-Watched Episode Ever Among Adults 25-54

New York, NY September 3, 2009 Last night, Syfy’s Ghost Hunters built on its successful fifth season with a 2.0 Household rating, 1.7 million Adults 18-49, 1.9 million Adults 25-54 and 2.8 million total viewers. The episode, airing from 9-10pm, out-delivered a new episode of TNT’s Leverage in the timeslot head-to-head by +17% in Adults 18-49 and +7% in Adults 25-54. Ghost Hunters was also the #1 program in the 9pm hour for both key demos.

Underscoring the series’ popularity among women, this was the series’ #2 best-ever delivery among Females 25-54 (1.1 million). This also marks the #2 best-ever performance for any Syfy series telecast among Females 25-54 (behind only the 10/22/08 episode of Ghost Hunters).

In addition, Ghost Hunters was the #2 cable program for the entire day among Adults 25-54 and and #3 among Adults 18-49. This was also the series’ second-highest Adults 25-54 delivery ever. Compared to last week’s new episode, this is an increase of +3% in Adults 18-49 +7% in Adults 25-54, a second consecutive week of growth for the series since it returned with new episodes on 8/19.

Next week, special guest star Josh Gates joins the team for an investigation at the abandoned Essex County jail in New Jersey, followed by the 3rd season premiere of his adventure travel series, Destination Truth, at 10pm.

In October 2004, Syfy introduced Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson plumbers by day, Ghost Hunters by night! The success of its spin-off series, Ghost Hunters International, cemented the Ghost Hunters brand as the top paranormal franchise in cable. The franchise just expanded further with the greenlight of a brand-new pilot, Ghost Hunters Academy. Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International and Ghost Hunters Academy are produced in association with Craig Piligian’s Pilgrim Films and Television (Dirty Jobs, The Ultimate Fighter, My Fair Wedding). Piligian and Thomas Thayer, along with Rob Katz and Alan David, serve as executive producers.

So let me get this straight, Eureka has wonderful ratings, Warehouse 13 ratings are amazing, Ghost Hunters is doing well yet Syfy (according to TV by the Numbers) ‘appears’ to be down 9% from last year and the difference is no BSG or SGA, if they were even on? Something is very odd with Syfy. They were apparently down in the second quarter of this year 12% from last year’s second quarter yet they had their best July ever.

    I guess they can’t catch a break.

Sorry, not to shatter any bubbles here, but there is a huge difference between a press release and a stock report.

NBCs Stuck truly lacking which is a clear indication of its leadership.

    Thanks a lot HOWE!

Jay and Grant stunned me posing as video analysts on Destation Truth. I was floored. Hey, ratings are fine. What ever floats your boat. They are just good salesman in my opinion. They DO make good money saying what you want to hear.
