For those keeping score at home here’s a review of President Obama’s previous television press conference viewership and ratings.
Tonight’s television address is not a press conference, it is an address to a joint session of Congress. Whether that makes a difference in the TV ratings or not, we’ll find out tomorrow. Congress or not, I’d expect average viewership in the 25 million range.

I think ratings for this will be much higher. Everyone has been hyping this a gamechanger with Obama finally detailing exactly what he wants instead of the vague comments he previously had.
One point: this is not a press conference. It is a speech.
Yes. Just like Bill says in the first sentence of the second paragraph.
I do what Mr. Obama says too. I am a bot
I am watching “So You Think You Can Dance” instead of Obama in “So You Think You Can Lie”.
Obama’s just the latest ‘face’ on the Congress. It’s them we should have watched, not Obama, as they put impediments into the health insurance industry. That’s what got us here. Clear those out, and we might be fine. As it is, a handful of congress-friendly orgs get all the business and there’s no competition.
The problem isn’t ‘not enough federal control’, it’s too much. And no number of speeches or covers of TIME will change that.
Amen brian
I’m just mad that they voted down the proposed amendment that any public option they pass, Congress has to use as their insurance option. They killed it in committee. Those guys don’t just have cadillac insurance, they have diamond encrusted, platinum cadillac insurance all 100% paid for by us.
Back to the numbers, I’m going with 25 million households. I think most people have their minds made up on healthcare and won’t watch, but I do think it will get more than the 100 day, random press conference.
After watching Pres Obama address to the nation, I have changed my mind. I liked what he said.
This was the most partisan speech ever delivered to a joint session of Congress. I don’t hate this country enough t support his government run health care plan. Anyone who votes for this should be voted out of office in 2010.
ANTM should benefit from last night’s address to congress.
