Rating: Adults 18-34 2.6/8 3.0/9 2.1/6 2.3/7 1.7/5 1.3/4

It’s an NCIS world, we just live in it. CBS’ NCIS, NCIS:Los Angeles combo came out strong Tuesday night with premiere ratings up to all time highs for NCIS, and a strong debut for NCIS: LA. The debut ratings for The Good Wife were good, but ABC’s the forgotten premiere ratings barely beat Leno.
Against premiere competition, Fox and Hell’s Kitchen managed to win the night in adults 18-34 and finish second in adults 18-49. Hell’s Kitchen at 8p (3.2/9) and 9p (3.4/9) combined to match its prior average this summer (3.3 rating) among Adults 18-49 and grew +3% among Adults 18-34 (3.0 vs. 2.9).

CBS’ drama premieres each grew from last year’s time period openers, and the network had its largest premiere week Tuesday audience since 1993. NCIS (4.6/13) was above its 08/09 premiere (3.6/10) and the series debut of NCIS: LA (4.3/11) was up from the Mentalist’s first episode (3.5/9). At 10p, new series The Good Wife (3.1/9) opened higher than last year’s Without a Trace premiere (2.8/7).

ABC’s Dancing With The Stars (3.5/9) delivered its lowest rated Fall Tuesday premiere ever, dropping -15% from its night one performance on Monday (4.1/10) and -26% from its Fall 2008 Tuesday premiere on the same night last year (4.7/12). At 10p, new drama the forgotten posted a 2.5/7, down -29% from its DWTS lead-in, but above last season’s time period premieres of Eli Stone (2.2/6 on 10/14/08) and Cupid (2.3/6 on 3/31/09).

For NBC, The Biggest Loser was down about 20% in its adults 18-49 rating from its competition-light premiere last week (3.1 vs. 3.85). The Jay Leno Show’s 18-49 rating of 2.4 was down from last Tuesday’s of 3.3, but up from Monday’s (9/21) 1.8 rating. It only lost to the premiere of the forgotten by 0.1 18-49 ratings point, Jay may have found his first night where he won’t end up finishing third!

The CW 90210 held up, it was flat in adults 18-34 from last week (1.5 rating), and down just a tick (0.1) in women 18-34, and adults 18-49. Melrose Place continued to sink, down 20% in women 18-34 (1.4 vs. 1.75), and 15% in adults 18-49 (0.8 vs 0.95), but effectively flat in adults 18-34 (1.1 vs. 1.15).

Definitions:

*Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted ViewingProgram ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

170 Responses to “TV Ratings Tuesday: NCIS Storms Back, The Good Wife Looks Good, the forgotten Nearly Was”

  1. Scott B says:

I was one of those 19Million+ viewers. Both episodes of NCIS were excellent.

  2. Bruce says:

“NCIS” is a monster that grows each season. It’s a tremendous, well-written program with some of the best characters on TV. And it’s often hilariously funny. My favorite character is the Goth lab nerd Abbs! The critics are usually lukewarm, but nobody listens to critics these days. “NCIS” kicks total ass!!

  3. Kevin says:

    W 18-34 for CW?

  4. Gypsy898 says:

I’ve got to say it, even though I’ve said it a thousand times before. Why is Dawn still employed??? I really don’t get this. Her decisions are absolute FAILURES…

  5. Holly says:

Is “the forgotten” supposed to be all lower case?

  6. Joe R says:

20 million for NCIS and 18 million for NCIS LA is huge but NCIS LA is probably going down to 16-17m but NCIS has a chance to go 20+ with dancing and HElls kitchen gone in a few weeks

  7. Gypsy898 says:

0.8 in the demo for Melrose Place? PATHETIC!

  8. John says:

I loved NCIS:Los Angeles. Hope it gets a full season pickup, the decrease in ratings during the second half hour has me a little worried.

  9. j says:

So: great #’s for NCIS – just below Big Bang, almost as great for NCIS 2, good ratings for all 3 of the reality bonanzas, relatively good for Good Wife (which got an avg. of B from critics vs. C+ for NCIS 2), ouch for Jay Leno almost tying the debut of that forgotten show.

    Very, very boring schedule, though.

  10. chrisjozo says:

Wow, those are some horrible numbers for Melrose Place. That makes me happy.

  11. Tom says:

Good Wife’s numbers are only okay. While it was one of the best reviewed shows of the Fall, it probably skews heavily older and womanly. CBS borderline renew/cancel for the rest of the year, ahoy!

Forgotten’s numbers are weak. Will probably air all 13, but that’s it. At least one Monday airing sometime in November.

Leno numbers are surprising. I don’t think it has anything to do with lead-in, and I’m not sure it has much to do with competition. I really do wonder if it isn’t simple 10-11pm DVR viewing: people had Monday shows stockpiled yesterday, and didn’t today. I guess we will be able to tell if Mon. Leno numbers are consistently weaker than Tue/Wed numbers. (Thur. numbers will be difficult to draw any conclusions from, given the stronger competition at 10pm that night.)

When does Fox get around to starting their ill-conceived Fall Dance season? Commenting about their ratings is pointless atm.

CW: Err, what were the 18-34s? Not that I expect much.

    (Wrong thread before, durnit.)

  12. j says:

Hrm, if looking at retention, actually, Good Wife isn’t that much stronger than Forgotten.

For 1st half hour vs. end of previous show, down 1.1 vs. 1.2.
For 2nd half hour vs. end of previous show, 1.3 vs. 1.5.

  13. Chuck Tranberg says:

NCIS is incredible. Good job CBS! Interesting, too is how “The Biggest Loser” went up each half hour. Leno did a good job of retaining what was on before it and it’s 2.6 18-49 rating is (for that show) pretty impressive.

  14. Petrie says:

i agree holly what is up with all the lower case, apparently abc could even pony up to upgrade the t and f to their rightful size.

  15. Julia says:

J, good thing we here at TVBTN know that retention is completely unimportant. :)

  16. Jim says:

I don’t know if you can say ouch to Jay Leno tying with the forgotten. It seems like the other way around. Plus, Leno’s demo is way above the 1.5 18-49, even with tough competition.

  17. Samuel says:

You know what the funny thing is? Fox actually made it to the second position with hell’s kitchen… Against all that competition. That’s impressive…

They should have left Hell’s kitchen on thursday, it’s doing better than Fringe… Now Fringe is just gonna get completely destroyed by the biggest competition ever, and they’ll cancel a good show when they could have kept it…

  18. Holly says:

Dont’ forget that the forgotten also has 1 or 2 minutes of Dancing figured into that first 1/2 hour. That could drop it a tenth or two in the finals. No guarantees on that, but it happens pretty regularly for the 10 pm shows on ABC.

  19. j says:

I was actually saying ouch for ABC, leaving out the words “the fact that,” which I guess made it confusing.

Actually, of the 10 o’clock shows, Jay Leno had the best retention.

  20. Bryan says:

omg 90210 is getting less viewers every week, they should do a cross-over between 90210 and melrose plece 2.0, soon !!

  21. Chris says:

    Everyone is thrilled but CW.

  22. Bill Gorman says:

I went with ABC’s all lowercase on “the forgotten”, although I admit to not always adding the TBL to The Beautiful Life: TBL. Maybe because it’s more, not less, work!

And I agree with Jim (and others), the news at 10pm was good for NBC/Leno, bad for ABC/the forgotten.

  23. S. says:

The Forgotten was really insufferable. Amazing that it lost only 11% of the demo from one half to the other, considering that Castle lost 16%.

  24. craiguk says:

‘the forgotten’ is ‘just without a trace’ reworked.

UnGrabbableTV is the phrase that springs to mind.

  25. TommyK says:

Granted we knew there would be good flow from NCIS to NCIS: LA, but did anyone really expect CBS to take 18-49 for the night? And by a huge margin? Boy, do they have reason to crow today!

  26. fox nonsense channel says:

    NCIS!

  27. Andrea says:

Bruce: “NCIS” is a monster that grows each season. It’s a tremendous, well-written program with some of the best characters on TV. And it’s often hilariously funny. My favorite character is the Goth lab nerd Abbs! The critics are usually lukewarm, but nobody listens to critics these days. “NCIS” kicks total ass!!

Only thing I agree with is the first sentence.

  28. Scott M says:

    So Tuesday had:

    3 hours of procedurals
    6 hours of reality
    1 hour talk show
    2 hours of teen drama
    1 hour drama

    I think I’ll pass

  29. TommyK says:

Yah, Bill, I guess the margin of victory is the real shocking part. And too, what drama series just keeps smashing its own viewer and demo records in its seventh season? Is there even a precedent?

  30. sabah says:

    hope melrose gets axed

  31. Bill Gorman says:

TommyK, we don’t have good show by show history comparisons, so I couldn’t say. My guess is that the nightly average race on Tuesday will tighten up a bit as things move ahead. Biggest Loser typically grows during its run, and rerun periods for the dramas will relatively boost Leno.

  32. nkinsey says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if NCIS:LA gets the second full-season pickup of the season (first was Glee).

  33. hmm says:

i think NCIS can be the new nr 1 show. I hope so, anyway. Idol- with 2 blah judges, an unfunny comedian and somebody who seems to be counting down the days until his contract expires so he can finally leave- doesnt thrill me. I will definitely be watching NCIS over Idol next season.

  34. Dave says:

So CBS have now effectively “locked up” Tuesdays as well as Thursdays (Survivor/CSI/Mentalist) with Fridays (Ghost Whisperer/Medium/Numb3rs).

3 down, 4 to go then, with a very honourable mention for Monday’s comedy block.

  35. Dan says:

Both NCIS series did amazing as did The Good Wife. WIfe seemed to hold up Tuesday as I expected. Jay Leno also will probably get its highest rating of the week due to its Biggest Loser lead in. Loser did pretty good as did Hell’s Kitchen. 90210 and Melrose continued to to badly. Even though The Forgotten looked forgotten, if it holds up, it will get additional episodes.

  36. Alex says:

NCIS had one of its best episodes ever, it didn’t disappoint. NCIS LA shows potential.

  37. Cath says:

I had no doubts CBS was going to win this night . With NCSI and NCSI LA…well this was expected. The Good wife did very good too , the show got lucky having all those NCSI as lead in…Let’s see next weeks.

  38. Jake says:

CBS scores again with mindless procedural crap.

  39. Matt says:

So of the big 4 nets only 4 of 11 hours were scripted… gross.

  40. cool says:

Thursdays? ABC will be very competitive with FF/GA

  41. Bill Gorman says:

Dave, don’t just think about the fall, Idol and 24 return in the spring. Even with CBS looking good, I wouldn’t expect them to stop Fox from taking the seasonal demo averages again, as they have for many years.

  42. steve says:

NCIS All the way!! Id like to allways no that what TommyK has asked has there been a tv show thatr keep smashing its viewer and demos record so far into a series.

  43. Aaron says:

I was impressed with the pilot of The Good Wife. It’s nice to see Julianna Margulies give a nice “F You” to the prosecutors in that show.

Hopefully it’ll do what Judging Amy did for CBS and not suffer the fate of the past few 10pm dramas.

  44. Joe R says:

Tuesday for the rest of the season
    NCIS 19-22m
    NCIS LA 15-18m
    The Good Wife 10-13m
    Shark Tank 4-6m
    DWTS results 14-16m
    the forgotten 7-10m
    The Biggest Loser 7-10m
    SYTYCD 7-10m
    Leno 5m

  45. Dan says:

Here’s my guess on new Tuesday series

NCIS: LA – will without a doubt get a full season
The Good Wife – If it continues to hold up, good numbers and retention rate out of NCIS LA, it will get additional episodes.
The Forgotten – This series is 50/50. If it retains a good portion of Dancing, it will get renewed. If not it will be axed. ABC needs dramas so with Flashforward, and Castle getting a full year this one needs to do better.
Melrose Place – will get a full season no matter how bad ratings are.

  46. Chuck Tranberg says:

Joe R–Leno will be up and down. Some nights he may be at that 5 million but other nights he could be at 6-7 million or even more.

  47. TommyK says:

Bill, I’m sure you’re right, the Tuesday race is bound to tighten up a bit through the fall. But talk about a terrific premiere-week start for CBS. I’m still expecting year-to-year declines for CBS on Wednesday and Thursday due to greater competition and aging shows, but then, what do I know?

  48. Dan says:

Also because there was no House this year, that could have helped NCIS’s ratings boost. Unlike other CBS tuesday 10pm series I dont think it will be 3 and out for The Good Wife.

  49. Mega64 says:

CBS is a juggernaut. Between the NCIS’s, TBBT, and potentially The Mentalist, CBS may have yet another increase over last year.

  50. Alex says:

    Prediction for Weds.

Criminal Minds vs. Law and Order SVU- Criminal Minds

They will be battling for the same audience

Glee vs ABC sitcoms vs TBL – It will come down to GLee or ABC sitcoms

CSI NY wins their timeslot over Eastwick and Leno

  51. Alex S. says:

I’m so happy to see 90210 continue to slide…

What The CW did with such a great iconic franchise of the 1990s is truly saddening.

I really hope the show gets cancelled this season; watching the original is a million times better anyways.

  52. Tdot says:

As well rated as dancing with the stars is, I don’t think it makes for the best lead in for procedurals such as castle and the forgotten

  53. TommyK says:

Aaron, I too was impressed by The Good Wife. In fact, it seemed very much in the Judging Amy “mold”; maybe four years after the premature cancellation of “Amy,” CBS has finally gotten it right. I hope it continues to grow creatively and hold on to its ratings, and sticks around for a while. For that matter, I enjoyed NCIS: LA as well. I started watching purely out of curiosity, but stuck with it. I had expected the two leads to pretty much command all the airtime — given what I’d heard about it becoming more of a “buddy” show — but I liked the supporting cast as well.

  54. Dan says:

Tommy – With FOX airing 2 hours of SYTYCD starting mid October, the Tuesday competition will be intense. I think Criminal Minds and CSI NY will still be strong on Wednesdays (and both will win their time slots easily) However I’m expecting Dancing and SYTYCD do win tomorrow at 8 with the CBS comedies hopefully getting around 8-9 million. If the CBS comedies can pull that, then atleast their a step ahead of last year. Once ABC’s comedies come into 8:00 wednesdays then CBS comedies will likely do better and could place second to FOX. Not sure how Mercy will do tomorrow but SVU will likely get a healthy second to Minds.

  55. Kevin says:

90210 won’t be canceled so you can stop with the hate

  56. Vicki Pieper says:

I really like the new series The Good Wife. Julianne Marguiles (sp) did a really good job and yes, it might appeal to an older female crowd due to the fact she is going back into the work force after giving up her law career to take care of the kids and be the support for her husband during is rise (and fall) in the political arena. It’s a show that has heart. I really hope it does well.

  57. Brittany says:

I was really impressed with The Forgotten last night, and I hope it continues to earn stable ratings/demos.

  58. CP says:

I think 90210 is a more watchable show now that its had a little more time to develop. I must be the only one still liking the 90210/Melrose lineup, even though neither will be as good as the originals. I feel like its 1995 all over again. All I need is some Boyz II Men and Hootie and the Blowfish!

  59. Dan says:

Alex – Your right Criminal Minds will beat Law & Order SVU, but SVU will still hold up well. Both Minds and SVU will have to build on their likely weaker lead ins. Glee will likely beat ABC’s comedies do to having a better lead in. Here’s my guess on average for 9pm and 10pm wednesdays.

    Criminal Minds – 14 million
    Law & Order SVU – 10-11 million
    Glee – 7-8 million
Modern Family / Cougar Town – 6-7 million

    CSI NY – 13 million
    Eastwick – 7 million
    Jay Leno – 6 million

With a poor lead in, Eastwick will likely fall flat

  60. Anonymous says:

Tuesdays and Thursdays, IMO, will probably be the best outings for TJLS because of their youthful-skewing lead-ins. Monday/Wednesdays are a bit of a question-mark…and Friday’s will likely be soft like everything else.

  61. House Addict says:

Let me just say as an House fan.. I’m so glad House doesn’t have to compete with NCIS anymore! And it seems NCIS fans are happy with that too: excellent numbers for NCIS. I’m really impressed, I think NCIS is the only show who actually gains viewers every season in stead of slowly losing them until it gets canceled

  62. Dan says:

Brittany – While The Forgotten did better than Eli Stone did in the slot. Keep in minds that it has less competition than Eli did. (no Without a Trace or SVU). The Forgotten could either continue to drop or do moderately well and hold up. Its 50/50 and it all depends on whether or not ABC wants to keep the show around.

  63. Dan says:

House Addict – Everyone wins there I guess. House is on Mondays at 8, NCIS is on Tuesdays at 8, and both shows and networks seem to get amazing results out of it.

  64. H.C says:

The Biggest Loser should be up next week after viewers sampled the new shows, and I fully expect Jay Leno to do better than ABC in the demos.

The Good Wife should also come back to earth since there is no way NCIS:LA will stay in the 18 million orbit for 2 weeks running.

CBS will win the night, but it won’t be averaging 17 million viewers.

  65. Jon says:

I reckon CSI:NY will do very well tonight coming off the cliffhanger ending of last season and weak competition, it has a steady audience of 12-13m but I reckon it will hit 14-15m tonight, it is one of the few shows that has got better each season.

  66. TommyK says:

Dan, I hope you’re right: that New Christine and Gary Unmarried come out the gate ahead of last year. (I guess, thinking about it, they couldn’t come out of the gate much worse, could they?) Christine remains one of my favorite sitcoms, and I think Gary still has potential. When they started to show a little ratings momentum last spring, I was hopeful that was the beginning of a steady upward trend, but that never happened. Hopefully, as you said, they’ll get off on more solid footing this year.

  67. emily24 says:

    Hi Bill,

Congrats to CBS Development turning NCIS into a franchise…while FOX gives us a…”Glee”…instead of the next “24″.

Over at ABC…the procedural-challenged network…”The Forgotten”..lost 1,300,000 viewers by 10:30pm and had a paltry demo in the 2’s…they should pair this with “Castle” for those suffering with insomnia.

ABC has lost more viewers since 2006 then any other broadcast network…Stephen MacPherson and that team of lady development execs he surrounds himself with who never gave him the NCIS or CSI franchises he craved…are on their way out. With “Cougartown” sure to fail…Stephen has a lot riding on that stiff “Flash Forward”…which I expect to be fast forwarded by audiences.

“The Good Wife” lost 825,000 viewers by 10:30pm…and soon…will drift into the 2’s so I hope its cheaper to produce then “Without a Trace” cause it sure aint gonna run for 5 years.

Working way past their expiration dates: Julianne Margolis, Christian Slater and Courtney Cox. Enuff already with them!!!!

    Love,

    Emily

PS- third week of “Glee” and you can expect more audience/demo erosion again tonight…remember…”Glee” lost 850,000 viewers and 9-11 percent in demo depending on whose numbers you were looking at.

  68. Bitey says:

Is NBC just going for total cheapness now? Last week Biggest Loser wasn’t even in HD. The commercials were but not the actual show. Didn’t catch it yesterday though.

    Imaginary NBC quote:

“If NCIS is going to beat us anyway, why bother spending the money on a widescreen camera?”

  69. DMP says:

Looks like I am going to be in the minority here but I found NCIS
Los Angeles to be very choppy and uneven – not all that impressed. However, the original was Fantastic ! I enjoyed The Good Wife and echo the positive remarks already posted. DVR’d The forgotten – I see potential here but fear it won’t get a full season to get the kinks out.
Poor CW – when are those folks going to realize they need a change at the top ?!

  70. JT says:

CBS is going to leave everyone in their wake this year, but in the 18-49 demo, Fox may emerge as the #2 network. And then when Idol returns, well… ABC may find itself in third, NBC a distant fourth, and TheCW will never be relevant. They get ratings TNT would be disappointed in.

How dominant is CBS? They can axe shows like Without a Trace.

  71. johnthemon says:

NCIS could not fail. The original NCIS viewers are already brainwashed, and most of them are also watching all the “different” CSI shows. Most of them are connected to feeding tubes as well.

  72. Bill Gorman says:

    emily24,

I’m completely in agreement with you (gasp!) on the scrutiny ABC deserves over its collapse, but it doesn’t largely get. NBC gets pounded (rightly so) for its failures, but ABC, in large part, seems to skate by the critics even though they’re not far behind in the collapse department.

“Working way past their expiration dates: Julianne Margolis, Christian Slater and Courtney Cox. Enuff already with them!!!!”

Margulies (43), Slater (40), Cox (44) are children. Are you going ageist on me? ;)

Older than all of them, I am,

    Bill G

  73. Jon says:

I wonder how long Dawn Ostroff has left at the CW, with only one hit show in the Vampire Diaries and the rich teen shows going to pot, I think a change of leadership is needed and a change of plan to widen their audience.

  74. Dan says:

TommyK – I really hope the comedies do better. Besides SYTYCD, Christine and Gary have an advantage to airing against all new series: Mercy, Hank, The Middle. Mercy is the only drama of the hour so people may tune in to that. However they may not and CBS’s comedies could place second to FOX like last year. Both comedies are in one of the least competitive hours so they should hold up OK. However if Gary starts to slip, it could be replaced by Rules of Engagement as early as March. It all depends on how well Accidentally does. One of those 2 new series will be replaced by Rules.

  75. Buzz says:

NCIS proves what happens when you let a show grow, now it’s more popular than ever.

  76. Dan says:

Jon – CSI NY will hold up well, especially with no competition and a good lead in.

DMP – NCIS: LA could improve over time. Its ratings started out really great. The series should be around for a while.

I remember reading an old article about when NCIS started. http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=6217 It was considered less impressive compared to other series. But now its grown to one of CBS’s highest rated series.

  77. Jon says:

The thing about NCIS is that it’s had similar growth in countries. In the UK for example, it was bought as a filler on Saturdays before episodes of CSI:NY getting over a million viewers and when it was moved to Fridays it really took off and it regularly get 2m+ for new episodes and 1m+ for repeats.

I was really impressed with The Forgotten last night, and I hope it continues to earn stable ratings/demos.

“why?” The show was boring, the plot predictable, and the characters didn’t stand out. Slater runs around… The fat guy looks stupid and the degenerate doens’t want to be there and needs to show humanity.

    *YAWN*

“NCIS could not fail. The original NCIS viewers are already brainwashed, and most of them are also watching all the “different” CSI shows. Most of them are connected to feeding tubes as well.”

Hey now, my parents watch that show and they aren’t hooked up to feeding tubes…

Haha, I agree about the show though. All of those procedurals are so boring and predictable. Why do we need 3 CSI’s and 2 NCIS’s? I understand it from a business perspective but from a consumer perspective I’m tired of that trash. It’s nearly as bad as all the reality shows. Nearly. I guess I’ll always be a serial-fanboy with it’s added depth and usually strong character development (if done right).

  80. Tom says:

Yeah, ABC’s recent scheduling leaves a lot to be desired:

The only surviving shows from 08/09 are the shoulda-been canceled Castle & Better off Ted.
The only surviving show from 07/08 is Private Practice, a spinoff that only survives when aired directly after the original. (New slogan: Private Practice- Not everyone bothers to change the dial after Grey’s Anatomy!)
The only surviving shows from 06/07 are Brothers & Sisters, which is also heavily lead-in, and Ugly Betty, which only survives for syndication numbers.
Not a damn thing survives from 05/06.
04/05 (and summer 05) is the last time ABC had any luck, launching Lost/Grey’s/Desperate/Dancing.

So from the last half decade, ABC still has three shows that should be canceled, and two more that are all lead-in. It’s only the train wrecks of NBC & CW that disguise their problems.

  81. Bill says:

“I must be the only one still liking the 90210/Melrose lineup”

You’re NOT the only one, although we seem in the minority.

  82. Carly says:

NCIS was amazing. :) So proud of them. I hope there are many many many more seasons!

  83. nkinsey says:

CBS will win HH this year, FOX 18-49. Again. I dno’t see this changing for awhile.

  84. Chucksmom says:

Wasn’t ‘V’ the new reboot from ABC going to premire on Tuesday nights?

If so, I don’t expect the ratings to be very high.

  85. Dan says:

Tom – I agree, its only because NBC and CW are doing so bad, people dont see how ABC has no dramas. How long are their veteran series expected to last Housewives/Grey’s before they run out of steam. Did you notice Brothers & Sisters and Private Practice are likely still around just because of the good retention for their higher rated lead ins. Ugly Betty is around for a fourth year, due to lack of dramas and syndication needs. Castle was renewed because of retention out of Dancing, and it was the best performing new drama on ABC from 08-09. Ted and Scrubs are back not because of ratings but in order to hide the fact that ABC has no comedies. (Even Samantha Who was axed last year due to budget issues).

My bet is that Castle will get a full year, Flashforward will get a full year. Eastwick will flop and The Forgotten may either get more eps, or get axed (50/50). On the comedy side Modern Family and Cougar Town are the best reviewed so its likely they will both be renewed, while Hank is axed and The Middle may or may not get renewed.

For ABC here’s what may be back for 10-11
    Desperate Housewives
    Grey’s Anatomy
    Dancing With the Stars
    America’s Funniest Home Videos
    Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
    20/20
    The Bachelor
    Wife Swap
    Supernanny
    Brothers & Sisters
    Private Practice
    Castle
    Flashforward
    Modern Family
    Cougar Town

With Lost gone, and Betty likely gone too, it would seem that most of ABC’s other new dramas would likely be axed unless ABC can find another surprise hit midseason.

  86. Dan says:

Chucksmom – V will premiere on November 3 after Shark Tank finishes. I expect it to be a limited 13 episode series like Day Break. Hopefully all 13 episodes air.

  87. mjblaser says:

    go ncis and la

  88. Tom says:

At the moment, V is scheduled to air at 8p Tuesdays starting November 3rd.

I (and ABC, given the November scheduling) expect it to premiere quite well due to nostalgia value (see Knight Rider & Bionic Woman) before collapsing (see Knight Rider & Bionic Woman). (Also see ABC’s attempt at getting a 6 episode initial order). Whether the show collapses before or after ABC grants it a backorder remains to be seen – that, and how much of ABC’s existing schedule gets tossed. I suspect Forgotten, Eastwick, and two of the comedies will be axed, with the other two moved to Dancing padding.

So ABC needs to come up with four hours in Spring to cover. Lost & Happy Town cover two (and a Lost repeat eventually covers another), so, essentially, Castle/Forgotten/Eastwick/V/new midseason shows are fighting over two hours of air time.

If anything will live, it is Castle & new midseasons, due to producers and cost/ratings comparisons.

  89. Sean says:

I really am enjoying 90210, I look forward to it a lot more than I did last season.

I’ve given up hope on Melrose Place.

This season I’m going to watch – 90210, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Lost, Brothers & Sisters, Parks and Recreation, Glee and I might start a new show, I just don’t want to get involved in a show that will most likely flop but I also want to enjoy a show. I’m probably going to give Cougar Town a go and possibly Flash Forward

  90. Jeremy says:

Yeah yall def aren’t the only ones liking the Melorose Place 90210 combo. 90210 has kicked it up this year. I almost gave up last year but it’s much better. And I daresay some of the people who hope MP gets canned haven’t seen it. It’s getting hate from people byt actually getting good review…that’s unusual for the CW. It really is very good….I didn’t expect it to be that good. Hopefully Heather Locklear can make lightning strike twice when she comes back in Nov. Here’s hoping….

  91. TesserT says:

I LOVE NCIS but was not impressed with NCIS:LA – I actually left the channel where it was as there was nothing else I wanted to view at 9pm. Will have to ck out a few more episodes before I commit.

I liked “the forgotten” – ‘course I liked Slater’s My Own Worst Enemy too. Didn’t have any desire to watch The Good Wife even though I like the actors in the series – wasn’t drawn in by the show’s premise. ABC though should have beat us over the heads with ads for tf like CBS did for TGW.

By the way, give me Castle & Better Off Ted :D any day!

  92. The Statton Family & Friends says:

I watched a few minutes of The Forgotten and my family and I looked at each other and we all said “what?” Not only was it boring but the token ethnic lead female was horrible in the opening and my friends sensed that she was going to be very unlikeable. They could have done more ethnically diverse casting and made a better choice at that.

I hope they replace Forgotten with just about anything that isn’t reality TV ASAP. We made the switch over to CBS and we all enjoyed the rest of our evening. And that’s 14 of us who get together for premiere nights. It was unanimous.

  93. Mandi says:

Yeah… have to join the chorus and say I can’t believe I’m typing this… but Melrose is actually good. I never watched the original, generally hate the CW and don’t watch any other of their shows regularly. So I was shocked by how good Melrose is. The cast is attractive and actually decent actors and they toned the ‘bitch-fest’ factor way down.

CW paired Melrose with another floundering wannabe– 90210– so they shouldn’t be surprised more people didn’t give it a chance. With VD looking like the only new CW show to get good ratings, I hope CW will keep Melrose around for awhile. But now with Heather Locklear and what I’m assuming is her ridiculous salary, it may just make the show more expensive without ratings results which = early cancellation.

  94. ken says:

Another night of ratings drops for reality tv, DWTS down 25% from last year, Biggest Loser down 10% from last year. Also Survivor and SYTYCD also are down 15-20% from last year. Granted some of these shows have totals that are nothing to be sneezed at but could this be the start of a trend away from reality shows. If so then the two NCIS’S are set to make big gains.

  95. KLE says:

Well I remember The Eleventh Hour had high consistent ratings for Thursday’s timeslot and what they do they pulled it, so I don’t think top ratings matter to most shows, as long as they stay out of the 0 and 1 points, they will keep what they want.

I liked NCIS LA ( Chris, LL and Linda Hunt are great together) and The Forgotten ( Christian Slater is solid for the lead role and the cast has good chemistry with each other.) Those two I will continue to watch. The Good Wife I had no interest to watch from the summary, a scandalous politican who cheated. Please. I can see that on the nightly news.

  96. huddy80 says:

    Ouch NBC, just ouch!

  97. Joe R says:

Castle should be on mid-season on Tuesday at 8pm and V on Monday at 10pm or V should be on after lost

  98. Julia3 says:

WOW! Almost 20 million viewers for NCIS! LOVE it! My favorite show right now!

Bill Gorman, is that NCIS’s best rated episode EVER? I think so!

I recall NCIS getting like 18 million at most in season 6.

But now in season 7, almost 20 million! I think that’s a record for NCIS? Right? Or did NCIS ever get higher than that?

  99. Bill Gorman says:

KLE, your memory of Eleventh Hour ratings is mistaken. They were borderline. I guessed the show would be renewed, when it was cancelled I was not startled.

  100. Holly says:

    @Julia3,

Based on the overnights, yes, it is a series record. The finals might be slightly different.

  101. Julia3 says:

    Thanks Holly for the info!

  102. idizzle says:

So it’s no secret that I looooooooove NCIS, but damn, little show that could, what a start into a new season! Not only is it the one and only scripted program to grow in viewers every last effing season, but now it has also proven the second season in a row that it is CBS’s most valuable drama program to launch new shows out of.

  103. Fin says:

Well it seems that The Forgotten was at least up against Eli Stone but I don’t really see how The Forgotten is a ABC-type show. Oh well, NCIS + LA did especially well. It seems that even without Sundays The CW is destined to go down in its network average, Melrose Place and TBL were massive flops.

  104. Lizardman says:

NCIS was terrific last night. Unfortunately NCIS: Los Angeles is not NCIS and has a log way to go to be in that category. I expect it to get better but I will be interested in seeing how the numbers work out the next few weeks.

Also the forgotten was a little weak and dragged some but again it was the Pilot episode. It is basically a rehash of a number of other shows that were semi-successful. I don’t see it getting better ratings than it did last night long term.

I like the idea of putting Castle, Eastwick, and the forgotten in that order on a single night and seeing how they would fair. Castle and Eastwick seem like earlier prime time fare and at this point are playing filler for ABC’s reality shtick and Comedy Block. Maybe a Wednesday night grouping then moving the ABC comedy’s to Monday and Tuesday late night slot. Overall this might be a stronger ratings run for ABC.

    Lizard

  105. Vader says:

Holy cow, NCIS is a beast now. Both of the NCIS’s were good last night, though I was a bit worried at one point with NCIS: LA, but it improved in the second half and next week looks to be good as well. Looks like CBS is saying “bring it on!” for Tuesdays.

  106. j says:

Innnnnteresting. On MC, Modern Family is the best-rated show. The top comedy previously, 30 Rock, last got an 84. Modern Family has 87, with the lowest single review being 80. And as for Sons of Anarchy & Mad Men? 86.

The rest of those w/at least B+ based on their most recent score (83 for their site) are all also first-run cable dramas: Rescue Me, Friday Night Lights, Breaking Bad, In Treatment. Might 30 Rock finally have competition? Of course, the other 2 new ABC shows premiering tonight have mediocre, slightly below-average reviews, so those might be miserable failures that help to bring Modern Family’s demise. Dancing with the Stars is a good lead-in, though, hypothetically speaking, given its #’s.

The closest a new show has to Modern Family is Archer, currently at 78.

  107. Holly says:

Finals are in, NCIS was up slightly in viewers (to 20.60) and the demo (to 4.8)

  108. derrick says:

I loved the forgotten and NCIS:L.A.

i will keep watching both shows

  109. Gerry says:

    An NCIS steamroller!

Also, can hardly wait until next Tuesday to see what goes down between Tony & Ziva. Sparks my fly

  110. Chucksmom says:

I like the idea of a LOST- Flashforward-V all on Thursday night.

I really don’t think V will survive on Tuesdays.

  111. Don J says:

The only way Melrose Place gets the axe is if it continues dropping and goes below 1M viewers. With the announcement that Heather Locklear is returning to the show November 17th, I think things can only get better. I think The CW will be patient and stick with it.

NCIS: LA is a virtual lock for a 22-24 episode season. I think if The Good Wife manages to keep most of NCIS: LA’s audience, it also has a good shot for a full season. It has an advantage being a CBS/Paramount show. If it were a WB show like Eleventh Hour last season, then maybe I would think otherwise.

As for the fogotten, I think it’s 50/50, Jerry Bruckheimer is such a big name producer and ABC probably wants to have some type of relationship with him.

  112. Sam says:

It seems that CBS, FOX, and NBC are all off to respectable starts this season. Meanwhile ABC and CW just continue to sink. CW is a goner by the end of the season. If ABC’s wednesday comedy lineups don’t premiere well and “Flash Forward” tanks, the network will be in trouble because both “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Desperate Housewives” will continue to sink this season as many of the main actors are departuring.

  113. tom says:

I actually thought the Good Wife’s Numbers Were Excellent, almost 14 million average in total viewers. I dont care about the demo ratings, I always feel this site puts way too much emphasis on that. I only care about total viewers

  114. tom says:

I remember the Good Old Days When Hit Shows used to get over 30 million viewers on a regular basis. Now a show gets 20 million and its a huge deal. tv viewership has really gone downhill

  115. Lu says:

I liked The Forgotten too, can’t wait to watch the 2nd. episode. TGW, blah, I don’t really like Juliana Margulies.
And yes, I still remember Eleventh Hour had good ratings, it might’ve had a decline at the end of the season but still they were good, maybe not good enough for CBS but still not bad. I mean, who airs the season finale against ER series finale??? Cold Case had similar if not worse ratings…

  116. Don J says:

Eleventh Hour had good overall viewership, but the demos were low and it was a WB show instead of CBS/Par, so it got the axe.

  117. TVBill says:

@Don J – Don’t forget the last big name producer ABC let develop a procedural for them, and how that ended up. THE EVIDENCE, John Wells. I’m just sayin’… :-)

  118. Don J says:

    @TV Bill

Well, I think having Christian Slater as the lead is a bigger advantage than having Orlando Jones & Rob Estes. And if I recall correctly, before it even premiered (midseason) ABC cut that episode order from 13 to 8.

  119. Bruce says:

I think the comparisons between “Eleventh Hour” and “The Good Wife” are apt but, as has been stated, the one big advantage “The Good Wife” has is that it’s a CBS production and not a WB show.

“Eleventh Hour” numbers were good but, since it wasn’t a show that CBS owned, good wasn’t good enough. For “The Good Wife”, “Eleventh Hour” numbers may keep it on the air.

  120. Julia says:

Don J, Slater sure helped with My Own Worst Enemy, didn’t he? ;) (Note: I like Slater, but was originally only interested in The Forgotten due to Rupert Penry-Jones, so lost all interest when Slater was cast.)

  121. Don J says:

But then again Julia I understand why ABC recasted with Slater as he’s a much bigger name than Penry Jones, who I have never seen or heard of.

the forgotten has a much more simpler crime procedural premise that should make it much easier to follow than Slater’s My Own Worst Enemy, which already had a far-fetched premise and was serialized.

  122. pedro says:

Leno will fail. The show is horrible. He’ll go back to 11:30 and Conan will be the biggest loser. Sorry, he deserves better

  123. ohiogirl says:

Biggest Loser should be back next week with ratings closer to last week’s. Those who have been following Hell’s Kitchen probably dvr’d BL. to watch HK.’s finale. You hate to watch a finale recorded, as you may hear the results before you get a chance to watch the show. Next week they’ll be back live. HK. wasn’t on last week, and next week the same audience won’t be tuning into ‘SYTYCD’. They’ll be back with BL live.

  124. Jon says:

With NCIS’ fantastic ratings, in theory they should give it the post Superbowl slot but I think it is more likely to The Big Bang Theory, The Mentalist or How I Met Your Mother.

I wouldn’t be surprised if another NCIS happens in a few years.

  125. Jon K says:

Except that it wasn’t the Hell’s Kitchen finale – that’s not until Tuesday 10/13.

  126. TVBill says:

Granted, Don J, EVIDENCE was a mess from the beginning. I’m just saying, I don’t think it will matter that JB produces FORGOTTEN – it’s gonna be based on the numbers. And the fact that it’s produced by Warner Bros. and not ABCS (like EVIDENCE was).

I actually liked it more than I thought I would. Wasn’t anywhere near as bad as some of the reviews I read. :-)

  127. Mark says:

I’m not surprised Melrose Place’s viewers are falling…It’s pretty boring, I dont know if I will continue to watch after next week. I actually liked The Forgotten and thought it was a good crime drama, I will continue to watch. i recorded The Good Wife but havent watched it yet.

  128. Shem says:

CW is dead- Dawn will be saying c’est la vie very soon.

Jay is doing okay. Dancing is going down and down.

  129. DW says:

CBS: Dominating the ratings with the buzz-free hits no one ever talks about or admits to watching. I guess that’s something to celebrate.

  130. Don J says:

    DW:
NCIS: LA was hardly a buzz free show. It debuted as a backdoor pilot on NCIS in May and CBS has been plugging it alot, especially the Saturday Night Fever spot with Abby from NCIS.

Out here in LA, lots and lots of billboards for The Good Wife, NCIS: LA and Three Rivers, even though most people are predicting it’s doom.

  131. charlene says:

    the forgotten was great.

  132. Nick says:

I’m glad The Good Wife did well. It was actually a very good show. I was going to give it ONE episode and if it wasn’t awesome I’d give up (it really isn’t the kind of show I’m usually attracted to), but it was. I’ll keep tuning in. And I think that it will retain the vast majority of its viewers for the weeks to come.

  133. rich says:

I cant see CBS being ecstatic with those Good Wife numbers, considering it was a premiere and the critical acclaim it has received (I know critical praise doesn’t always translate to ratings), CBS should and would have a larger initial sampling. It was only up a smidgen on it’s predecessor and numbers are bound to head south for future episodes.

Poor numbers for the forgotten but I really enjoyed it, I tuned in for Slater as I thought he was fantastic on Enemy. I don’t normally watch crime procedurals and I’ll probably won’t continue the series but I thought there was enough curve balls to keep viewers on the edge of their seat. Yes you can drive a truck through the plot holes – Jessica killing Tracey/Vivian for lying to her was ludcrious but it was enjoyable.

  134. Chaz says:

Holy Shit! Look at The Biggest Loser’s ratings! Can we confirm this is a series low??? Wow.

Melrose Place’s numbers held up pretty steady from last week. Im giving a a huge amount of credit because it got literally bombed with every other show on every other network.

I am extremely nervous for what to expect for Thursdays numbers. The numbers are going to be INSANE!

  135. rich says:

Damn I wish you could edit your comment :( , typing on an iPhone is really difficult!

  136. Jon K says:

Melrose Place’s numbers held up pretty steady from last week.

Dropping ~20% in total viewers, 18-49, and in the targeted W18-34 is hardly holding up steady.

  137. RW says:

My prediction: The Good Wife will fall week by week and CBS will end up moving it by January to shore up the night before Idol returns. CBS will replace it with a action show more geared to male demos, possibly flip-flopping The Good Wife with Numb3rs on Fridays. After all, I think the Good Wife would be a better fit with Ghost Whisperer and Medium than the NCIS duo.

  138. jeff says:

Heather Locklear comes back to MP in November (Doubt she’ll save it.) and I think the CW will wait to see how she does for ratings till they renew. If the show gets anywhere in the 2 millions with her on it, it’ll be renewed. As long as it never dips below 1 million, I see them giving it a back 5 order or something.

  139. Dan says:

RW – CBS will never flip flop, Numb3rs with the Good Wife. Numb3rs is one of the few series that has stayed in the same slot its been in since it premiered (CSI Miami, CSI NY, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Ghost Whisperer) CBS has found a good combo with Ghost WHisperer, Medium and Numb3rs and they wouldnt mess with that. My best guess is that CBS will order 18 episodes of The Good Wife, and let the episodes run out, and then replace the series with either Miami Trauma or The Bridge (which ever one, Three Rivers isn’t replaced with). Good Wife is good enough to last a full season but probably not to be renewed.

  140. RW says:

Dan – Good point. But I have a feeling Numb3rs might be at a point like “Without a Trace” where it may become too expensive to continue producing, even though it’s a hit, for a show that usually finishes 25th to 40th in ratings. CBS might to looking to replace it with a fresher show with lower fees.

  141. daniel l says:

damn tv numbers are getting exciting again

  142. Dan says:

RW – I personally dont think Numb3rs is at that point. If anything the next veteran series to get the axe is Cold Case. Which will probably decline severely in ratings following Three Rivers.

  143. tara says:

HORRAY for NCIS, they did really well Tuesday night, I am glad for that. But does anyone know what choice Gibbs will make concerning “Ziva’s fate is in Gibbs’s hands”? Does anyone know if Ziva will leave NCIS or anything like that, please I need to know, I am dying to know; cause I REALLY, REALLY HOPE THAT ZIVA STAYS, SHE IS MY MOSTEST FAVORITEST CHARACTER IN NCIS, IT IS TOO SOON FOR ZIVA TO LEAVE, I HOPE GIBBS MAKE THE RIGHT AND WISE DECISION!!!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

  144. vsaint says:

i’m a huge NCIS fan, total viewers was not a surprise, but the demo spike is a little surprising.
Are people a little tired of reality?
It was against Dancing, Biggest Loser and Hell’s.

The NCIS promo’s i saw were very generic, nothing about last season’s cliff hanger.

  145. angelsgal says:

RW I actually think its a good Idea, here is australia, Numb3rs was put after NCIS and the 2 became a dominate dou and were very compatable. I think it will fit with CBS Tuesdays very well. Ten then destroyed the dou, by moving Numb3rs to post House (which was on the decline) and was taken off the air 2 weeks ago. Fans are scraming cos NCIS LA starts here on Wednesday and Numb3rs would of got the lead out slot. Instead it will be an NCIS repeat. Lie to Me now airs after NCIS and they are another strong combo, but i would perfer that Ten coppie Fox and Put Lie to Me with House. NCIS LA will get the post MasterChef slot starting next wednesday (which would be the equivilant to Post Amaerican Idol here) and is expected to be bigger than NCIS which has a harder slot here on Tuesdays

Also BBT airs after 2 and a Half Men and does well out of it and many TV followers here were wondering if CBS would follow Channel Nines lead with these 2 shows and they did.

  146. Riff Rafferty says:

The Curse of Bruckheimer On Any Network That Isn’t CBS continues. Obviously, not everybody who was missing “Without a Trace” bothered to check out “The Forgotten.”

“The Good Wife” got sampling, but it won’t hold. Show’s got no pulse. Neither does Julianna Margulies. I would have accused her of being over-Botoxed, but then I remembered she only had one expression to begin with — constipated grimace. Tech credits were low, to boot. But I do give Nina Tassler credit for putting a completely and totally unhip show on the air which is about a woman who isn’t a complete and total slut. Why, I believe that’s a first for her!

And I don’t even think Heather Locklear could save this “Melrose Place.” If this is the future of The CW, it’s time to break out the toe tag.

  147. TV Me says:

NCIS was fantastic, as usual, but am I the only one who dislikes these flashback digressions and would prefer the show in normal mode.

I’m tempted to do a remix! No, on second thought, Don can do it and present it as a new episode during first repeat.

  148. BIG DADDY says:

Write it down take a picture…..
Whether you personally like it or not

The Forgotten will be one season and done.

  149. nkinsey says:

    Dan-

I agree Cold Case will be on the bubble again this year. The writing was on the wall last seson when CBS was publicly debating to keep Without a Trace or Cold Case. If their ratings don’t improve (though they’ll probably get worse after Three Rivers), this will be their swan song season.

  150. Dan says:

nkinsey – I already know that this is Cold Case’s last season. I had a strong feeling that Without a Trace would be axed last year just because it was a season older. Despite Trace performing actually well for tuesdays at 10, it ended up being let go due to budget reasons. With a Three Rivers lead in and airing at 10pm, Cold Case will likely dwindle, and even axing Three Rivers wont help the series. Cold Case may likely revert to its 9pm slot but ratings will still be down. I expect that CBS would axe Cold Case next season and renew every other veteran drama as well as new series NCIS: LA and Medium. If they do that, then 3 slots will be available (Sundays at 9, Sundays at 10, and Tuesdays at 10) depending on if CBS decides to move any shows. I dont think The Good Wife would get a second season, and also likely not the two midseason dramas.

The Forgotten wasn’t very good, but it did get 10 million viewers. I don’t get why you said it was “nearly forgotten”. 2.7 in the demos isn’t horrific either.

  152. Stephen Judson says:

Melrose better hope that Heather locklear can pick up the stinking ratings.

Big Daddy is such the expert for things to come. Where is your crystal ball? Just a lonely poor soul looking for attention.

  154. KLE says:

No, Bill I’m not mistaken. You like to think you know everything.
I checked up on Eleventh Hour’s ratings every Friday, on the zap2it site. They did not have excellent ratings but they had decent ratings for Thursday’s night and combined with CSI’s high ratings ranked CBS as number one in households for Thursday nights. The point is it got cancelled.

  155. Bill Gorman says:

KLE, I don’t need to rely on my memory (god help me if I did), I have the numbers!

Eleventh Hour’s season average 18-49 rating was 2.8.

CBS’ season average 18-49 rating was 2.88.

If that’s not the definition of borderline, what is?

I still thought it would get renewed vs. Cold Case and Without A Trace, but CBS picked Cold Case instead.

  156. Dan says:

Bill, I knew Eleventh Hour and The Unit would be axed, but I was 50/50 on Without a Trace and Cold Case. Despite Trace having the bigger numbers, CBS axed it possibly because it was slightly more expensive than Cold Case. Cold Case will be axed in May, I dont think any other veteran series will be cancelled this May. Besides CC, I think Three Rivers, The Good Wife, Miami Trauma, and The Bridge will be axed by the end of the year. One of the midseason shows could continue. I also don’t think Flashpoint will return after the 9 episodes but its really cheap so anything can happen.

  157. Chris says:

I don’t see how The Good Wife skewing female is something negative?

    Melrose Place will be cancelled

The Forgotten is in danger. Right now ABC aren’t good with the ratings when it comes to cop dramas.

    NCIS/NCIS:LA are hits.

I hope The Good Wife succeeds.

  159. nkinsey says:

    Dan-

I agree with you about Flashpoint. With its inexpensive episodes, anything goes with that. Hell, even if they don’t air it this year, I could still see them bring it back. It’s not like the production company is waiting for their meager ep order; the show is still doing well in Canada.

  160. Sue Maple says:

    One word on NCIS: TIVA!!

  161. Leslye says:

I loved NCIS this week. I’ve watched from the beginning and it just gets better and better. Tony gets funnier and funnier as time goes by and I think he and Michael and Mark Harmon make the show.
Criminal Minds was so much better than L&O:SVU this week and I’m a regular viewer of both.

  162. bert says:

NCIS is a great show , has both serious and comedy in the original as for the LA, well its not the great show we thought it might be. Will stick to the original and say wait and see on the LA version..

  163. Dan says:

nkinsey – If CBS axes a series early, new Flashpoint would at least be better than repeats of another series (likely NCIS LA) They have 9 episodes to test out. After that CBS could either order another Flashpoint season or cancel the series. They’ll probably axe the series but airing 9 episodes as a replacement (especially if The Bridge and Miamia Trauma arent ready yet) is not a bad idea.

ABCfanatic – Oh and Melrose Place wont be cancelled.

  164. Billy says:

I enjoyed the forgotten. I hope it gains ratings so it doesn’t get canceled.
