Posted on 27 September 2009 by Bill Gorman

Reader Dave has whipped up another chart in response to a recent commenter’s question. As it turns out, Glenn Beck had more average viewers than all his timeslot competition combined each day over the most recent week.

  1. Dave M says:

From 26 September 2009 Post Comments:
“And as far as who ever is doing these charts, lets do a chart that shows total viewership of conservative cable news (Fox) vs. liberal cable news (CNN, MSNBC, HLN, CNBC). We want to be fair and balanced dont we?”

  2. StphenMartin says:

Quite a differnce from HLN where he got around 350K a night. I was so glad when he signed with FOX. Beck can get a little out there at times, but most of the time he’s right on. He’s a very brave and courageous individual. I admire him greatly.

  3. Dave M says:

Truth in advertising: I’m pretty sure this is the best evening match up for FOX. I just don’t have time to chart others. Just by eyeballing the numbers from last Thursday, it looks like O’Reilly and Van Susteren might also handily beat their combined competition, but by a lower margin.

The situation for Sean Hannity apears more tenuous … nearly a tie at first glance.

  4. johnthemon says:

i think it’s morbid curiosity. Glenn Beck is an idiot and everyone knows it. They just want to see his next big blunder.

  5. The1337 says:

    @Dave M

    CNBC is fairly conservative.

  6. Chris says:

Unfortunately johnthemon I don’t think that’s the case. I really think there are a lot of people tuning into his show and soaking in his every word like it’s gospel.

  7. AC says:

And they have a lower combined IQ.

  8. Dave M says:

    @The1337
You may well be correct … I don’t watch CNBC enough to take a side. I’m sure someone lurking here will take issue ;-) However, they only make up about 15% of ‘the competition’ in this time slot. Taking them out would only make things a slightly better/worse depending on your point of view.

  9. Denise says:

Go Glenn Beck! I am telling everybody I know about him, so just watch his ratings go UP UP UP!

  10. Ron says:

    Some don’t believe Beck,
and some don’t believe The Bible.
The Left wants’s a war, They will get one.
The conservative Right Wingers have been nice
    for a long time.

  11. Shawn M says:

Too bad all of his advertisers have pulled out from his show, given that he’s an insane, abusive drug addict who will say anything to get an audience. An audience, that surveys show, know distressingly little about the world around them.

  12. Mumbo says:

Sad how much people enjoy watching a grown man cry and have epileptic seizures on the air.

Moments like these are why I’m glad to be a Canadian.

  13. Tucker says:

Kind of sad when a ratings site starts to become a turf war about things other than ratings, shows, etc. I wonder if some of the above are actual readers of the site. It would surprise if they were.

  14. VA says:

“I wonder if some of the above are actual readers of the site. It would surprise if they were.”

Why would that surprise you? The majority of hits from this site come from actual readers, but they don’t post all the time. I check this a lot everyday and only post on stuff that interest me. Glen Beck is an idiot, but I don’t care about his ratings, so I don’t usually even view these topics. I was curious today though, lol.

A lot of the usernames are even posters that I’ve seen post on here before, so I’m not sure how you came to your conclusion.

  15. shane2813 says:

See you can’t compare Beck to O’Reilly you need to compare them to their competition. Now you clowns starting to see the numbers? LOL!!! Poor little leftist just can’t figure how to coverup all these stories. It just keeps getting harder and harder to do. That’s what this is all about. Not telling people about big stories happening around the country is like lying to them. If you lie to people why will they buy what you have to sale? They won’t! It’s OVER! WE THE PEOPLE are the mainstream media now. You Old Leftist Dinosaurs can just go away now we have it all covered. 40 years of stories covered up by you clowns. This could take us awhile. But we’ll get through all of them one by one. DRIP DRIP DRIP The worm keeps turning. Don’t you just love free speech? Some people do. But others are kind of scared of it. You did yourselves in. Self inflected wounds. Death by a thousand LIES. Can never take back lies NEVER! MARXIST=DEMOCRATS=TERRORIST All the same Ask the DEAD old media.

  16. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

So right-wing half-truths and propaganda beat out left-wing three-quater-truths. I don’t see how that helps this country.

  17. John M. says:

Funny someone like johnthemon says Becks big blunder? What like taking down Van Jones? Exposing Lloyd at FCC, Exposing ACORN? Humm maybe his next big goof will be topping 4 million viewers. IF Fox would put Beck at 7pm he’d hit 4 million most nights!

  18. shane2813 says:

NEW YORK TIMES stock has dropped from 50 dollars a share to just under 8 in 10 years. Looks like you guys at the Times are going places. LOL! It’s ok Uncle Rupert will save you. MARXIST=DEMOCRATS=TERRORIST All the same Ask the DEAD times.

  19. infantryman says:

who let the welfare crowd in here… shouldnt you libs be sitting at the mailbox waiting for your checks? You ppl make me sick.. bunch of state funded, worthless ” I cant so it on my own” so gimme everybody elses hard earned tax dollars.. NO Job, six kids and your sitting on the couch playing nintendo or watching BET… disgusting POS!!

  20. gbd says:

I guess all the gangsta and misogynistic rap music, since it outsells evertyhing else, is the best the music industry has to offer? The tools that buy that “music” are no better than the fools that swallow the fake news the Fox News Actors sell. Hate and Ignorance masquerading as morality and coommon sense is still hate and ignorance.

  21. spursbox says:

    Glenn Beck is winning.

Just note those that criticize him resort to name calling and slander.

Those that imply he has numerous blunders, never seem to name any.

Beck has been on a roll for the last 6 months. Most every significant story he has reported on has proven to be true.

If only the NY Times or WAPO had that level of accuracy, the country might just be a better place.

  22. preditorytaxesarewrong says:

I don’t get why people are so upset at Glen Beck or Keith Olberman or any of these guys and gals who are on TV. With a government (both repubs and liberals) don’t we need this media to keep them on point. I mean I can’t stand Olberman and Hannity, can enjoy Beck and like Anderson Cooper…more importantly in a time where government has gotten so large and so controlling of daily lives…i don’t get why hating FOxNews or MSNBC or CNN is in anyone’s best interest. Our anger should be at the polerizing figures on both sides dividing this nation every day. These guys are all just entertainers…and darn good at it. Let’s be thankful both sides have there ‘entertainers’ informing us every day of the misteps and mishaps our government try to get the tax payers to pay for.

  23. Stephanie says:

    preditorytaxesarewrong: I completely agree.

  24. Sam says:

Per reader Dave’s chart, the combined viewship of ALL of these programs is 4-5 million. Given the current U.S. population of 305 million, that means that 300 million people in the U.S. are NOT watching. Further, I wonder how many Americans actually consider themselves to be either “right-wing conservatives” or “left-wing liberals”? I wonder how many Americans instead consider themselves just that — simply AMERICANS — moderate, perceptive, generous and neighborly within their communities, but also skeptical of BS (from government, business and media at all levels). And I wonder how many believe that overwrought, one-note cable news blowhards such as Beck, O’Reilly, Olbermann, Maddow, etc., stir up hatred and controversy not in the interest of good journalism, but in the quest for both self-aggrandizment and ratings, in order to become rich/famous and to sell soap, as the saying goes, or Viagra, or cars, or whatever their ad departments can snare. I’m not buying.

  25. Felix says:

Hey, folks, the elite media could get rid of Beck’s audience quite easily. All they need to do is start reporting on the major stories. But as long as they continue to bury any news item unfavorable to Obama, Beck will have a huge audience.

  26. JC says:

Shawn — and you are soooo worldly I’m sure; Mumbo — your comments are so sophmoric and we are happy you are Canadian too. Just love how tolerant the libs are when other disagree with them or actually expose the crooks for what they are, i.e, ACORN. As for Obama — ONE MORE TIME — it’s not about the color of his skin; it about his POLICIES!!!

  27. SEEING RED says:

THIS NANA IS SILENT NO MORE..I’M STANDING UP AND SPEAKING UP FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE. EVEN WITHOUT ALL THOSE ADVERTISERS (WALMART)esp. GLENN BECK IS ON THE RIGHT TRACK. IT FEELS GOOD TO KNOW I’M NOT ALONE. DON’T STOP.. KEEP THE INFO COMING.

  28. mike d says:

I wish I was as dumb and stupid as Glenn Beck. Year to date he has made over 30 million dollars from his T.V, Radio shows and book sales. There is only one way to gauge success in his medium and that is thru ratings, and he is at the top. You can call him all the names you want, he is laughing all the way to the bank. haha

  29. mike d says:

Wasn’t it great to see Beck get Van Jones fired and Acorn brought to its knees. What an idiot that Beck is. Ha Ha…

  30. Philosopher Jay says:

This is kind of like saying the Roman Catholic Church got 30,000,000 people and all the other protestant churches together only got 20,000,000. Therefore the Catholic Church is doing really well. It leaves out the fact that 200,000,000 people didn’t go to Church in the U.S. at all last week.

Number of U.S. adults not watching Glenn Beck — 250 million (99%). Number of Americans adults watching Glenn Beck 2.5 million (1%)

  31. Dave M says:

    @Philosopher Jay

I plotted Beck vs. Mathews and someone said:

“as far as who ever is doing these charts, lets do a chart that shows total viewership of conservative cable news (Fox) vs. liberal cable news (CNN, MSNBC, HLN, CNBC). We want to be fair and balanced dont we?”

I complied and generated the chart above. Now you want Beck vs. “The World” … you are going to have to type in the data in for that one yourself! Your point is valid. On any given night approximately 1% of the population watches Beck. Make of that what you will. Some here will say that is significant, others will say it’s not. Some will just say that the ratings are all together useless. I find this latter group to be the most interesting because they come here and look at the data anyway … then complain about it?

  32. Charlie says:

Philosopher Jay again reporting on useless numbers. Compare the number of people watching Cable News to the number of people watching Glenn Beck. That is a more fair comparison. I’m sure it would still be a small precentage of the total, but it would probably be one of the biggest precentages. Not to mention how many people read his books, and listen to the radio that do not watch him on TV for whatever reason.

  33. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

Just remember, when the most watched cable “news organization” is actually a propaganda station, then 1984 is just around the corner.

  34. mike d says:

1% adds up to a lot of cash for Beck…and Fox News.

  35. mike d says:

Can we get some real arguments here Mr. 1984 and Jay…

  36. Charlie says:

Anybody want to do one of those charts that compares numbers over a year or so for Glenn Beck and the competition? It would be interesting to see when his ratings really began to take off.

  37. Annie says:

Hey all you posters! Get a life. Glenn Beck is simply Entertainment.

  38. mike d says:

Where is Jay getting his numbers from, I think there are more than 252.5 million people living in the U.S., not even counting the illegal’s, and they all go to Church..Don’t they…

  39. Dave M says:

    @ Charlie
I would like to analyze a year, but I can’t find the data. Besides, I don’t think Beck has been on FOX for a year? If I don’t get distracted by something else, I’ll have your chart a year from now.

  40. Charlie says:

I don’t know the exact date he started. I’d like to see his ratings over the whole time he’s been on though. I’d even settel for somebody telling where to find that info if we can’t get a chart done easily.

  41. Dave M says:

He left CNN October 16, 2008 and started the “Glen Beck Show” on FOX January 19 2009.

  42. John M. says:

Beck has been steadily increasing his audience ever since the show started, I don’t have the exact numbers but August was his biggest month and sept is almost as good!

  43. DMP says:

…have never watched him…. will never watch him…. garbage TV at its best – like the saying goes,” Fox News: we deceive, you believe !”

  44. Charlie says:

DMP, do you not see how wrong what you said is? You don’t watch, never will, yet you know without a doubt that its garbage? We’re supposed to take a statement like that as having some sort of basis or merit?

  45. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

Lots of whores, loan sharks, and drug dalers make a lot of cash from a millions of customers too. If that’s the measure of success, I can see why a lot of people admire Beck.

Why is Fox News a propaganda station instead of a fair and balanced news org? From 2000 to 2006 Bush and the Republican Congress (and Bush to 2008) ended PAYGO, ran up $5 trillion in debt, deceived us on the yearly deficit by excluding war costs and including SS surpluses, started a $3 trillion unnecessary war, did nothing as health care costs rose from 13% to 16% of our economy, further crippling our competitiveness, ignored the impendig climate change catastrophe, and drove our economy over a cliff. How did Fox News cover these mistakes and disasters? By staunchly defending Bush and the Republicans every step of the way.

Now we have a new president who is trying to solve these problems. How does Fox news cover this attempt to save this country? By staunchly criticizing and fear-mongering every step of the way.

  46. Charlie says:

Bush is no longer Pesident 1984. FNC didn’t “staunchly” defend Bush either. Glenn Beck certainly didn’t, even though he wasn’t even on FNC then.

As to whether Obama is trying to fix Bush’s mess, most people would say he is continuing most of what people blame Bush for.

  47. StephenMartin says:

I’m amazed at those that think calling people and FOX names is going to alter the truth and sway people’s opinion’s. What I have found is when people start calling other people they disagree with names it means they cannot further their argument. Not to mention it’s plain childish. But then again, it is one of Alinski’s favorite tactics. That might have been effective at one time, when most weren’t aware of the Alinski method. But since most informed people know of this little ineffective method, those tactics are now simply entertainment.

  48. mike d says:

1984 is living in 1984, your drug dealing comparison makes no sense, lets compare lefty shows to foxnews, oh that is right, they all dont add up to foxnews ratings combined, and that makes liberal’s very mad. Do you realize Obama was an Acorn attorney. He comes from Cook County in Illinois, which is the most politically corrupt County in America. His Czar’s are all radical lefties, hope you enjoy Beck’s show tonite, you may learn something about the real world.

  49. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

If you don’t think that FNC staunchly defended Bush and the Republicans during the past 10 years, Charlie, then you are in the business of rewriting history. Did you ever watch Hannity or O’Reilly or Fox and Friends? FNC is basically a propaganda arm of the Republican party.

If you think Obama is following the same policies as Bush on health care, climate change, the environment, taxes on the wealthy, or regulation….. Obama is also trying to get us out of Bush’s Iraq fiasco ASAP without terrorists taking over the country.

  50. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

Mike D, Obama is guilty by association of exactly what? Go practice your McCarthyism on some other blog.

Liberals are such nice, thoughtful and open-minded people arent they? ;-)

    -/-

  52. StephenMartin says:

“Liberals are such nice, thoughtful and open-minded people arent they? ;-)
Inded. They’re flowing over with acceptance, tolerance and free speech. Oh that’s right, only if no disagrees with their open minded view of the world that is.

FoxNewsStarts1984 It’s obvious you’ve not watched O’Reilly much for if you had you’d know he disagreed with Bush many times. In fact his stance on the war on Iraq aligns with those who think it was a mistake.

  53. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

    Let me get this straight.

About 1 in 20 Republican (McCain) voters had the time and inclination to reinforce their opinions by watching Beck.

About 1 in 40 Democrat (Obama) voters had the time and inclination to reinforce their views watching the competition.

What does that say? I guess fewer Democrats had nothing more important to do.

  54. CAT7722 says:

I like fox news simply because they report ALL the news. When a liberal is off base, corrupt, or in the wrong…they report it. AND when a conservative screws up they report that too! WOW, imagine a news station that reports ALL the news. As for the conservative shows they broadcast…why not? When the liberals control and run ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, HLN, CNBC and every major newspaper in the country, people with middle or right leaning views need at least one outlet to get THEIR news. Yet, FOX is attacked and denegrated because it wont subscribe to a leftist, socialist format??? Ridiculous. I say we need at least 2 or 3 more right leaning news stations to offset this socialist media “monopoly”.

  55. StephenMartin says:

    FoxNewsStarts1984.

Could we see your sources or are you simply blowing smoke? I’m guessing smoke. You remind me of the little kid who really cannot rebutt, so he says,” Oh yeah, well your mother is a ________ (fill in the blank).

  56. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

    StephenMartin,

I’m sure NOW O’Reilly thinks it was a mistake. A lot of Republicans probably feel that way now that a Democratic president is stuck with it. But when it counted, when we were electing Congressmen and Presidents, somehow FNC didn’t come through for Kerry or Obama.

Has O’Reilly changed his stance yet on global warming? Probably not. He will probably wait until southern Florida is underwater.

  57. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

    CAT7722,

I say that conservatives control and run ABC, NBC, CBS, (not MSNBC), CNN, HLN, CNBC and every major newspaper in the country, so why do we need an even more extreme conservative propaganda station like FNC?

I have evidence to support my claims:

Not one of these news organizations investigated the statistically near impossible results from southern Ohio counties in the 2004 presidential election that handed GW Bush a second term.

Global warming, the greatest threat facing mankind according to the majority of scientists (according to Bush friend Tony Blair) and now believed by Rupert Murdoch (head of News Corp/Fox), is only occasionally reported on and never reported as the serious threat that it is.

  58. gobeck says:

What is really sad is all of the morons on here who think that the FOX viewers don’t represent the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of the people in this country! The liberals are completely destroying this country with their anti-God, anti-morality, Obama-worship mentality. These so called “people” want everything good about this country to change. If they didn’t like the country the way it was, they should get out and they can form their own corrupt, crime ridden, drug induced, atheist society where they can teach their own kids their brand of simple mindedness.

  59. Lazlo Toth says:

What’s also sad is the lefty whiners who can’t argue issues and just resort to name-calling and condescending ad hominem attacks like those above, acting shocked that non-leftists can actually protest peacefully (without massive vandalism and mass arrests) but also acting shocked when they see the silly “Obama as Hitler” types of posters that were just fine with the left when applied to Bush. Attempts to demonize and dehumanize huge numbers of conservatives AND moderates is backfiring and it’s funny to see the other side drowning in its own vitriolic spittle.

  60. StephenMartin says:

    FoxNewsStarts1984

Like I said, if you’d watched BOR you’d know that he went against the war about the same time the MSM did. Also, he believes in global warming.

You say your opinions can be verified? Show me. Talk is cheap…guess that’s why you’re an Obama supporter.

Why don’t you just give it up. You’re making an ass out of yourself.

  61. Coda says:

Does anyone remember this in the mid 1970’s?

    http://denisdutton.com/newsweek_coolingworld.pdf

A number of other news outlets were constantly talking about it then too.

I was in the 5th grade and was told to go home and plead with my parents not to use any aerosols because they were causing global temperatures to change drastically.

The media held on to this popular belief for a few years after the trend changed … then strangely went silent for about 20 years. Now in the last few years we find ourselves at the other extreme.

What I find really interesting is that all of the impending doom being forecast in the article sounds almost exactly the same as today. The only difference is that the first derivative of temperature has a positive sine now instead of negative sine. Huh?

  62. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

Be careful gobeck, when you wrote:

“The liberals are completely destroying this country with their anti-God, anti-morality, Obama-worship mentality. These so called “people” want everything good about this country to change. If they didn’t like the country the way it was, they should get out and they can form their own corrupt, crime ridden, drug induced, atheist society where they can teach their own kids their brand of simple mindedness.”

according to StephenMartin, the intolerance you expressed above is a “Liberal” characteristic:

“Indeed. They’re (Liberals) flowing over with acceptance, tolerance and free speech. Oh that’s right, only if no disagrees with their open minded view of the world that is.”

Actually, gobeck, you could sub for Glenn Beck anytime and the show wouldn’t miss a beat.

  63. Sam says:

Ah, feel the love! Feel the love! :^)

  64. Tucker says:

I guess I was hoping there’d be less daily readers posting on this. It appears to have grown feral, and if the thread were on another site, perhaps humorous.

  65. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

Coda, I see your point. When I was in college in 1975, during summer vacation, I climbed to the top of Mt Whitney, and believe me, the earth is FLAT!!!

  66. Coda says:

    FoxNewsStarts1984,

Don’t shoot the messenger. I didn’t produce or promulgate the hypothesis that we were entering an ice age in 1975. My point is that is what we were being told about it by Newsweek, Meteorologists and Scientists from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, researchers from Columbia University and the University of Wisconsin, my 5th Grade Science Teacher, etc., etc. According to the media and scientific community at the time, this was ’settled’ science; and we needed to act fast to save the planet from turning into a ball of ice. If you let your mom use an aerosol hair-spray, you were unpatriotic and didn’t care about ‘global cooling’. There were a few scientists who did not believe all that ‘ice age’ stuff … but they were crazy fringe scientists.

Just thought I’d see if anyone else remembers the days we were being fed that story. I do. You just can’t make it up …

  67. Steve says:

This exemplifies freedom of “choice” and puts into perspective what the MSM has fought so long and hard to hide–that is, conservative values best represent the majority of Americans. It’s just the way it is, and it ain’t over yet…now that we’re awake! Yawn…. GOOD MORNING AMERICA!

  68. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

    Coda,

I have a vague memory of the global cooling theory, but I was in college then and was busy with studies. I guess scientists had some reasonable evidence back then for global cooling, but today’s evidence for global warming is so overwhealming that NASA, our Pentagon, every foreign government, many oil company executives, and even GW Bush have acknowledged it as a serious threat.

But even as the earth warms overall, the disruption of ocean currents that carry warm water northward could mean some areas experience extreme cooling. Parts of Europe are very concerned about that.

In hindsight, it’s a tragedy that Gore wasn’t elected in 2000. Just think how much further along we would be fighting global warming and avoiding all the other Bush catastrophes.

I know Hannity is still a global warming skeptic, but what about O’Reilly?

  69. James says:

Global warming is just an opportunity for people in congress to create a crisis so they can step in and “fix it” by creating new laws, restrictions and regulations. To most people in congress, global warming is a pathway to MORE POWER.

  70. James says:

Can anyone deny that “global warmng” has given people like Al Gore fame, power and fortune. Therefore can anyone be sure that all the information Gore recieves supports his theory, or does only preach the information that will support his argument.

  71. AppleStinx says:

Well said, James. It’s a good thing that self-serving Al Gore didn’t succeed in stealing the 2000 presidential election. Any man or woman owning a Nobel Peace Prize would have gone to N. Korea negotiate the release of captive reporters working for his/her compamy. Not Al.

  72. Coda says:

    James,

The ‘Scientists’ say they have it right this time. I sure hope so, because we are poised to invest a lot of sweat, money, and tears into fixing it.

I’ve done quite a bit of research lately and over the course of the last 100 years or so, scientists have almost continuously warned that the climate was changing … and at least through the 1970’s they were always wrong. I’m not sure which side to root for. If global warming is as bad as they say, we are basically hosed. If it’s not, our economy is still hosed, because were about to throw a lot of money down a big rat hole. I don’t really like either outcome ;-(

  73. James says:

The Heartland Institute, which consist of 10,000 scientists, 3,000 of which have PHD’s, all have concluded that global warming is either extremely questionable, or non existant. Though the media will say the experts have agreed that global warming is happening, it’s just their way of lieing to the audience and silencing debate.

  74. Communist News Network says:

“I climbed to the top… and the earth was flat.” WTF? Wow. I bet you made the eighth grade debate team, right? Such a rebutal! The commenter was simply observing how in the 70`s “scientists” thought we were entering a new ice age, and how they were wrong about it. So, and i know this is tough for you to understand, but his point was that those same “scientists” are probobly wrong now, too. Just like they were wrong about the “population explosion”, “nuclear winter” during the Reagan years, and the earth running out of food, ect., ect. All the good little Liberal scare tactics that never came true. And yet your rebuttal is “the earth is flat.” “… All the news organizations never investigated the near impossible election results from Ohio in 2004… this shows that they are conservative.” Oh, please. Is that like how they investigated Van Jones and ACORN and Rev. Wright and all of Obama`s crooked Chicago pals? Did they investigate the 2000 Washington state Governor`s race where the Dem candidate found some “new votes” in a re-count? Using your “logic”, i guess that makes them Liberal. ” Global warming, the greatest threat facing mankind according to a majority of scientists… is only occasionally reorted on by Fox.” Here, I`ll clean that sentence up for you. “Scepticism or any data going agaist “climate change” is almost never reported on CBS,NBS,ABC,MSNBC, ect. There. And as far as a “majority of scientists”, that number is dwindling while the sceptics are growing. Science is never about “majority rules”, anyway. Remember, a majority of “scientists” thought the earth was flat, as you say. And tell me again why it was warmer during the Middle Ages than now, with no industry? Explain why during the Ordovician Period about 440 million yrears ago, co2 was about 16 times higher than today. Because until you or anybody does, nothing is proven. Science is about proof, not making predictions, and MMGW is all about predictions. And those predictions never said we`ld be cooling now, but we are. Please try and keep up. Swing and a big miss.

    I like Glenn Beck.
Yeah, he is a bit nutty and silly but he does talk about things you would never EVER find out about on other news shows.

FOX NEWS if the best. I could not listen to any other news station, ever. I tried, switched around… it was bad, nauseating actually.

    FOX ROCKS

  80. Communist News Network says:

And please tell me, Mr. (or Ms.) Fox 1984, who in the hell decided, and how they decided, that this temperature, right now, is what the Earth is “supposed” to be. How do you know that? You don`t, of course. Through out history it`s gotten warmer , and cooler. But now it`s not supposed to get warmer? Says who? Early man weathered the ice age, storms, droughts , floods, insects, ect., with no technology, and survived. But we will perish. What utter bullshit. according to StephenMartin, the intolerance you expressed above is a “Liberal” characteristic:

Once again you got it wrong. That’s what the liberals CLAIM to be. It’s their creed. But far from how they live. As you exemplify.

  83. StephenMartin says:

Nearly every time you post, FoxNewsStarts1984, you show how uninformed you are. Still waiting for those sources you claim you have. I won’t hold my breath.

  84. Glenn / CA says:

I’m not sure I would include CNBC in the cable news group, since it is a financial channel. A separate catagory containing Bloomberg, FBN, CNBC and any other financial channels might be more appropriate.

  85. Dave M says:

    @ Glenn/CA
I would tend to agree with you Glenn, but that is how this site, and I assume the Nielsen folks, decided to group them. Bill or Robert, please correct me if this is wrong.

  86. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

OK global warming skeptics. Let me get this straight. You all think that a global warming conspiracy exists that includes NASA, the Pentagon, GW Bush, Rupert Murdoch (head of News Corp/Fox), the science departments/ministries of every foreign government (including Russia, China, India, Japan, all the EU countries, Chile, Peru, South Africa, etc etc), climate scientists around the world, many oil company executives, etc. For what purpose would all these various countries and people of varying views and backgrounds conspire on this subject? What do they gain from this? How and why did such a group of conspirators ever form? You global warming skeptics must be living in the twilight zone, or watched too much FNC. You all need a reality check.

  87. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

And yes global warming skeptics, add Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and John McCain to the list of global warming conspirators.

  88. Dave M says:

I’m not interested in taking sides in these ‘hot’ topic issues, but I suspect the skeptics would deny believing in any conspiracies and, would instead, suggest there are many respected scientists world wide who are themselves skeptical about various aspects of GW. Below is one of the lists they will direct you to. I must admit it does include a lot of scientists with impressive, and relevant bios who have lots of letters behind their names.

    http://www.heartland.org/books/PDFs/LegislatorsGuideGW.pdf

  89. AppleStinx says:

People with common beliefs aren’t necessary conspirators.

  90. AppleStinx says:

However, any subset of a group of believers may well be conspirators.

  91. shane2813 says:

Hey 1984 the scientist say the globe is cooling. So you may want to rethink your “agenda”. Like people can change the temperature of the earth. Look! EARTH could wipe all of us off in a second. How did people start worshiping dirt? The earth will never stay the same Never has Never will!!! The main reason Temps change on earth is because of that big bright thing that comes up every morning. THE SUN!!! Sun spots are what make temps go up and down on earth. NOT PEOPLE! These IDIOTS are selling carbon credits. You PAY ME money and it’s ok if you pollute. Talk about a SCAM! They just want to take money from one person and give it to someone els. Sounds like Communism dosen’t it? So it must be the Democrats pushing this right? YEP!!! MARXIST=DEMOCRATS=TERRORIST Ask the Lying Scientist. P.S. They lie because if they don’t they wont get grant money. Scientists are a bunch of whores.

  92. gg says:

  95. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

So Shane2813 says first that “scientists say the globe is cooling” (I’m sure there’s a few) and then he says “scientists are a bunch of whores.” I think I was wrong about GW skeptics living in the twilight zone. For Shane it’s more like the Dark Ages, where science was generally dead. Is he typical of you Glenn Beck fans? Intelligence may be lower than I thought.

  96. Joe says:

Go Glenn congrats. Thats what you get for reporting the truth.
I dont get the negatives, these guys just got out of college where they have been endoctrinated by liberal professors.

  100. FoxNewsStarts1984 says:

StephenMartin. You have been deceived by people like Glenn Beck and FNC and are deceiving others.

    http://solveclimate.com/blog/20090806/climate-deception-revisited-whats-behind-signatures-31-478-skeptical-scientists

For me the most important part of the article states:

“At this point it’s literally impossible to know because the names and degrees on the list cannot be verified by anyone outside the OISM. We can only take the OISM’s word that they’re all real names, that all the degrees are correct, and so on. This does not stand up to the most basic tests of peer review and scientific credibility.”

You have to hide this information when you are deceiving people, like OISM. The climate science that supports the GW hypothesis is overwhealming and peer-reviewed.

  101. Dave M says:

    Guys,

The battle over global warming is not going to be resolved on a forum dedicated to Cable News Ratings.

The ‘funny’ thing about science is that everybody can find data, statistics and experts that agree with their point of view. No one will ever be satisfied with the amount of data, or number of experts their opposition puts forth; especially when the topic is as politically charged as GW.

A wise colleague of mine once told me “If you want to resolve a problem quickly, find an expert. If you never want it resolved, find two experts”

  102. CAT7722 says:

    foxnewsstarts1984:

you’d be wrong. The reason these things “weren’t investigated” is simple…..they WERE and there was nothing to it. You know if there was every single news outlet would’ve jumped all over it. C’mon now….EVERY news entity (including FOX) was all over Bush. If he didn’t recycle his cans it was front page news. As for Global warming….thats not an issue. Most scientist agree the earth is in a warming trend. The question is, is it “man made”? NO scientist can prove that so it makes it a theory and NOT fact. One thing that has been agreed on is there is nothing man can do to change the climate. I find it suspicious that the founder of the weather channel diasgreed with the “man made” theory and so did alot of the meteorologists at the station. They were all fired and let go after G.E bought the station. (Note: GE is the leader in selling “green” technology AND owner of NBC, MSNBC, and CNBC) Hmmmm, suspicious to me. Last point….saying that all those media outlets are contolled by conservatives takes all credibilty away from all your posts…you know thats not true, I know thats not true and everybody else knows thats not true. C’mon now, really?! :)

  103. mike d says:

1984 says that conservatives control abc, nbc, cbs etc. what planet r u on and where is the so called smokin gun, they didn’t even cover the acorn scandel, 1984 is living in dream world, fnc is successful because they r the only conservative mouthpiece…wake up,

  104. mike d says:

The reason FNC is successful is because their is debate, In fact I learn a lot from guests on O’reilly like Juan Williams and guess what, sometimes I am wrong on issues, The problem with lefty shows like Maddow and Oblerman is that there is no debate, it is one way, Maddow is so afraid of confrontation. I would love to see her have guys like Ron Paul or Peter Schiff on, they would rip her to shreds…because they r much smarter than she is…
Remember the piece she recently did on car safety, and that because of car regulation, cars r safer and that the govt is awesome. The real world suggests that consumers have driven car safety and that American Car companies have been so behind the curve as far as inovation, that is why they suck. You think 10 years ago that Germany was forcing companies like Mercedes to make thier cars safer and that is why they did it or companies like volvo, they did it because the marketplace was demanding it. Give me a break…

  105. ted says:

“Too bad all of Glenn Beck’s advertisers have pulled”

Just another indication of how challenged the left is when it comes to economics. In a free market system like we “still” have, when one advertiser pulls for what ever reason from a popular venue like the Glenn Beck Show there are three who have studied the demographics and vie to take their place. Lots of advertisements for Gold and other investors taking their place.

This may be an oxymoron, but please when posting from the left view point try and not be so stupid- you are making your kind look foolish.

  106. ted says:

Sorry but the argument supporting “Cap and TAX” (Cap and Trade) as being based on science is in fact incorrect. The overwhelming scientific evidence is that Global Weather Change, (notice the media / government no longer calls it Global Warming as the Earth has actually been cooling for 12 years running) is part of a long term and natural phenomenon which is based in large part on Sun spot activity and its effect on the Earth’s environment (as well as all other planets in our Solar System- do our SUV’s effect the temperature of Mars? No and they don’t effect the temperature of Earth either). Cap and Trade (TAX) is noting more then a scare tactic to push people into accepting the highest tax on the average American since the Federal Income Tax. Luckily we have the internet so this may fall flat- we can only hope for the sake of our economy and for the future of our children and our children’s children.

Google “Sun Spot Activity Global Warming”

I see a dim futuer for the united states. ive lived here 22 of my 22 years of life, amd never thought id be thinking of moving away. When kids (young adults) take center stage look out. i feel really bad for your kid, over time in life people seem to discover the truth like i said in my last post iam only 22yrs. And i have lots to learn, And so do you.
