- MTV’s The Hills premiered with a 2.35 P12-34 rating and an audience of over 2.3 million total viewers
- The Hills was the #1 cable telecast of the day among both P12-34 and F12-34.
- The Hills was #1 in its time period versus all television competition (including broadcast) among P12-34.
THE CITY:
- MTV’s The City delivered a series high 2.06 P12-34 rating and over 2.0 million total viewers.
- The City’s season premiere is up versus its January series debut by +43%.
- The City ranked as the #2 cable telecast of the day among F12-34 and the #3 cable telecast of the day among P12-34.
The City was #1 in its time period versus all television competition among F12-34 and across all cable competition among P12-34.

MTV should be calling LC back. She never put up miserable number like this, she usually gets at least 3+ millions.
wow!! i´m really surprised with The City´s ratings!!From last season it grow up a lot (and i think they will cotinue growing,Mtv has re-created the show and is really amazing, more than The Hills)!! Almost doubled their audience!!
And, if i´m not wrong, this is their best ratings to date!!!
Why they even bring back Kristin. Thought she was to good for reality tv. Thought she was trying to do darker – deeper roles.. LOl her movies go straight to DVD. What a loser.
Just removed The Hills from my DVR recordings. Kristin is useless, there is enough drama on The Hills without her. If she wasn’t on the show I would still follow Lo, Audrina, Brodie (sans that moron he’s dating) and the original crew. I guarantee that the numbers were only good for this first viewing and won’t be sustainable with the embarassment of Laguna and the Cavalarri family.
Um, I predict that next week’s numbers for The Hills will drop substantially. The episode was truly awful. Those other girls are nowhere near as interesting as Lauren was.
MTV promoted this season like no other and this is the end results?
The hills was pretty good. I dont like that Lauren is gone, however, i never thought she was that interesting. Reminded me of Jennifer Aniston. Cute girl, amazing body, but not that interesting.
Kristin was ok had a different feel than when Lauren was on but I wil still watch. Never watched The City until Tuesday and I love it. It revolves around fashion and shows alot of cool spots in New York like the Hills does for LA. love it. I hope the go to Paris that would be cool especialy since its fashion week here

Kristen was TERRIBLE, along with her “acting” she even did an interview and said its all fake, that they want her to start drama and she just has fun with it, there is a reason why all her movies go stra8 to dvd, but Lauren is greatly missed, and had way more viewers then this, lauren never droped below 3 mill and was as high as 5+ at one time, so this just shows the hills is on its way out, Although i did enjoy The City, much better premiere then the hills had
The City is waaayyy more interesting than The Hills. Given how completely lame the season premiere the Hills was, I will not watch the show going forward. I don’t care to see the manufactured drama of Kristin C and co. Who is even interesting to watch on that show? Stacie, Lo, Steph, Heidi? meh. The show has really gone down hill….no pun intended.
As for The City, the show is way chic, fashion forward and definitely more interesting. It involves people actually having jobs and doing things other than creating drama around their ‘love’ lives. Olivia is absolutely gorgeous. She is the reason I watch the show…I think she is inadvertently bitchy..unlike Kristin who tries to stir things up. And that psycho Roxy who is Whitney’s new frenemy…her candor makes the show fun too. Go City!!!
I hope next week the City ratings will grew up or at least delivers the same than the premiere, it was amazing!!Not the same for the Hills…….Lauren was The Hills!!
i didnt even watch the hills this season and dont plan to. kristin just seems desperate and in need of attention from the commericials. the drama is so staged more than ever. and we know why she hasnt wasnt offered her own show, i mean shes already had her own show on upn that got canceled, straight to dvd movies, so she had to jump onto laurens leftovers. can we say loser? i heard audrina is going to have her own show. i cant wait
i think i might start watching the city. classy chicks who arent desperate. and seriously mtv promoted the hills like crazy and this was all they got rating wise? lol thats sad!
I didn’t even watch the hills and don’t plan to, but I did watch the city and will keep watching it. I want their ratings to go way up and I want the hills to get canceled so lauren can know we only watched for her. The hills is just like laguna beach now. These people are in their mid twenties now and are still bickering like teenagers and creating high school drama. I’ll pass. it was fine when they actually were teenagers but now they just look pathetic and immature. and i don’t plan on making any of them more rich by watching this show. they need to go out and get real jobs.
I was happy to hear Kristen was returning but I thought her character was way overdone and fake. City was much better. I always disliked Lauren and don’t think she will really be missed by me.

I refuse to watch this show as long as Kristin Cavallari is on it, it’s so trashy now. I’d at least watch for Lo if they hadn’t brought Kristin on, but they really should just cancel it. Lauren made that show and she left, so MTV needs to cancel it. I’m really interested to see if the city beat the hills this week, I’m loving The City.
