Tuesday night Sons of Anarchy averaged 3.76 million viewers and a 1.9/5 A18-49 at 10pm Tuesday, almost edging out the broadcast competition on ABC (The Forgotten – 2.0/5 with adults 18-49). That’s up in viewers from last week’s 3.49 million, and flat with adults 18-49.
So far, the show is outperforming, and by a fairly wide margin, the 2009 performance of FX’s Damages and Rescue Me.
One thing we hear a lot about with some of the other cable networks is the # of additional viewers during encore broadcasts. Last week (9/22) in addition to the 3.49 million at 10pm, another 1.53 million watched the 11:02 encore, and another 975,000 watched a Sunday night at 11pm airing. A Friday at 11pm airing averaged 841,000 and Tuesday 1am airing another 739,000. By the HBO math, that’s almost 7.6 million for the week, so FX is getting pretty good mileage out of the show.
To me, most impressive #’s from last night for a show not called NCIS.

By far the best show on television. The only show that leaves me wanting more and more! I often watch the new episode 2-3 times during the week, awaiting the next new episode.
Great written show! Show takes place near my hometown of Stockton, CA (Charming being a fictional town of course).

SofA is a pretty decent show I enjoy it. Jax is an Australian actor? Never knew that. Also found out Rose Byrne of Damages is also Australian but she does a terrific American accent.
Our tv shows are being invaded…lol.

Yeah best show on right now, much better than the sex crazed Nip/Tuck. I wish Henry Rollins would get more screen time which is the reason why this season is much better.
Reminds me of my childhood being raised around 1%ers in Tujunga/Sunland/Sun Valley. Many of the exteriors are filmed in the area, so the look and feel is dead on…
I hope FX stay commited to the series, it is by far the best thing I’ve seen in years. Too bad it is too hard for the Emmys.

Nice to hear! Definitely well-deserved ratings. I’m shocked that it gets such good numbers on replay! Don’t know why I’m surprised because SOA is one of the few shows on tv right now that is actually better on rewatch. You get to notice the nuances and enjoy the fantastic acting. Not sure why it doesn’t get more love from the Emmys.
