  1. WOLFSTER38 says:

FOX once again defeats the KOOL-AID networks in the rating wars hands down!
Maybe soon they will understand people want the truth!
I can’t understand how companies buys AD-TIME from networks
that only a handful of hateful people watch!

I guess I should not say ratings war.
    I should say “ratings whipping!
!!!!FOX is the only network that rates!!!!

    LMFAO………………………………………………….

  2. DeniseVB says:

Soooo, didn’t Olbermann have his Special Comment “Obamacare or Die” last night ?

    How did that work out?

  3. Kenny says:

Who cares let me get this straight you should like a channel just cause it’s popular I call that jumping on a bandwagon I prefer to watch what I want and not just follow the crowd

  4. mhenry says:

One only needs to watch Olbermann and Maddow for entertainment and comedic pause, because they are so incredibly biased, it makes me wonder if they don’t get their talking points from Gibbs. Olbermann’s incessant attacks on Sarah Palin are a case in point. Palin makes a few campaign gaffes and Olbermann still is railing on her. But Keith doesn’t ever focus on Biden’s constant stream of serious faux pas’, or Obama’s touring of “57 States”. Further, PMSNBC didn’t report on the Van Jones or ACORN stories, indicating they are incapable of non-biased coverage. They are totally in the tank with BO, and have surgically joined themselves at the hip with him. As the country reacts negatively to BO’s agenda, so too will they stop watching MSLSD. You’re witnessing that now. There are many news agencies that have egg on their faces because they didn’t connect the dots prior to the election, (or didn’t want to), and refused to vette Obama during the primaries…Fox is not one of them. My only regret is that Beck wasn’t part of Fox News prior to the actual election.

  5. Jeff says:

The reason no one watches Olbermann is the same reason most people do not watch porn. Who wants to see Olbermann make love to Lawrence O Donnell and the rest of his kool aid drinkers.

  6. Kenny says:

Actually quite a few conservatives who watch porn and go to strip clubs not that there’s anything wrong with that

  7. db says:

I think Olbermann’s special comment is tonite.

Happy Birthday Fox–no.1 in all time slots. Can’t argue with that fact libs.

  8. Roland says:

mhenry: I think any person who took off their ideological glasses would gladly admit MSNBC lineup is liberal, and I have not found any liberals who deny this fact. However, as MSNBC is liberal, FNC is conservative [although, their viewers are less likely to claim there is no ideological bias presented in FNC].

The fact of the matter is that none of these cable news channels do substantive news, and when they do (cause sometimes they do–but its less than 1% of airtime) they spin the news with commentary and opinion.

Cable news shows (all of them in my opinion) should only be watched for entertainment and comedic effect. All of the cable network news have failed in doing the real news for as long as I can remember–yes that includes FNC.

  9. manny2066 says:

Honestly,my day will never end without watching Glenn Beck show.

  10. Kenny says:

I’m a libertarian and I agree with alot of you in the fact I want limited government my beef with the conservatives is they are controlled by the religious right I don’t want people telling me how I should live my life keep religion out of politics

  11. db says:

Roland, you need to watch Glenn. He had several “substantive news” stories today. His report on Free Press is a real eye opener. Btw–he was the lead in the Acorn story, van jones and he is now going after Mark Lloyd and several other Marxists in the Obama admin. Sorry your claim that Fox is just entertainment is baloney.

  12. db says:

Kenny –the more you take religion out of politics the more immoral and corrupt it becomes.

  13. AppleStinx says:

The mainstream media will launch a campaign to quench opponents of Obamacare by reporting “news” of increased public support for it – wink wink “in spite of your best efforts, protests, Beck et al, the People by and large wants Obamacare”. It’s like announcing victory for democrats before voting is over, so republicans give up and stay home.
To make a long story short, let’s see what impact such quenching “news” will have on protests and Beck’s ratings.

  14. Kenny says:

Ever heard of seperation of church and state?

  15. Sharon says:

db-explain that to me please about religion and politics, don’t we have a seperation of church and state in this country for a reason.

  16. wolfster38 says:

Separation of church and state really means the Government cannot tell us how to worship, Thats is it! In God We Trust!

    Separation not seperation

  17. dave says:

glenn is right all our congress is corupt

  18. shane2813 says:

Separation of church and state is to keep the government out of the church not to keep the church out of the government. They pray before each session of congress. You Leftist are so stupid. The president puts his hand on the Holly Bible when he is sworn in. “SO HELP ME GOD”! The Fricken lunatics have taken over the democrat party. All you guys worship is DIRT. The dirt worshiping democrat party. And that’s why we are destroying your party so easily. When you build your house on a foundation of sand it’s very easy to knock it down. And we are. Wait until we get started on SEIU. You guys wont be able to organize jack squat. We have a very detailed plan for destroying your party. VAN JONES,ACORN,NEA,Charlie Rangel. We have a list. Isn’t this fun? MARXIST=DEMOCRATS=TERRORIST All the same. Ask the Perverts in the whitehouse.

  19. db says:

Wolfster–couldn’t have said it better myself. Separation of church and state was to keep the gov’t out of religion, not the other way around. The reason for sep of church and state has been twisted beyond all recognition by progressives.

  20. db says:

    Shane–you too–well said and true.

  21. OkPatriotMom says:

The high ratings at Fox prove that people (regardless of party affiliation) are going there to get the news because they know they aren’t getting the facts elsewhere. I used to watch CNN, but they don’t stay on current events like Fox does. You can argue politics all you want, but the ratings speak for themselves. God Bless America…

  22. wolfster38 says:

Also, so we never get anything like the Church Of England.
    A Government created church.

  23. wolfster38 says:

db said: the more you take religion out of politics the more immoral and corrupt it becomes.

    db
    You are right on target!

  24. Sharon says:

What if he swor on the koran? Would you still believe what you’ve said. There’s no need to have religion and politics coincide with eacht other the way so many seem to think they need ot be. We don’t need a theocracy.

  25. you are exactly right wolfster!

  26. I used to watch MSNBC when it had some more balanced programming. Actually lost interest when Dan Abrams left and then Tucker left and it got rediculous. Could never stand Olbermann. He and Nancy Grace are quite a pair — both sound like histrionic personalities. Olbermann it seems is narcissistic as hell. And after the tingle went up Matthews leg, I deleted the station on my tv.

  27. wolfster38 says:

    swore = swor
    ot = to
    eacht = each

    LiB sChOOls ArE gREat!
    Watch FNC, and learn

    LMAO

  28. wolfster38 says:

This is a real great website/forum! Great data!
Right or Left, click the ads and use their service if you can!

    Thanks for great data!

  29. Sharon says:

I don’t care enough about you to give proper grammar wolfster. Just watched Kieth’s comment it was excellent you might learn something from there, like how there were’nt any death panels. Would you still think the same thing if obama swor on the koran?

  30. Julian says:

Im amazed you guys have something to say about the same ratings everyday!

  31. wolfster38 says:

    Kieth = Keith

    ROTF LMAO

  32. wolfster38 says:

    were’nt = weren’t

    You can teach us

    hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  33. Sharon says:

    Still won’t answer my question.

  34. wolfster38 says:

    Your question makes no sense.

  35. Kenny says:

So u think the Christian right has a right to tell me what to do like telling me I have to live a certain way where’s the freedom in that my sex life and what I do in my life is none of their business I do not want to live under a theocracy!!!

  36. Sharon says:

You said that Obama swears on the bible, if he swor on the koran, would you still defend the right to religions involvement in government?

  37. wolfster38 says:

I never said that. wrong poster

  38. Gibson says:

Hell…..hell, the gangs all here!!! Jesus, you people need to take a break from this relentless crap and get out in the sunshine occasionally…

  39. Tony says:

Palin’s death panel statement was to make reference to the government intrusion between doctors and patients– not literal death panels…libs love to take her words out of context or mistake Tina Fey’s words for hers…Palin never said she could see Russia from her house–but most think she did, because if you repeat the lie enough– it is true. Death panels was figurative not literal and everyone knows it…unless they only watch PMSnbc tools like Obamaman and Madcow

  40. Russ says:

@Sharon……so you still bobbing up and down for Olbermann’s apples? I thought that was Katy Tur’s job.

  41. tarheel-pck says:

I’m a proud member of the religious right, southern baptist, the church ( all evangelical churches ) has done more to help out people in need than our joke of a government, the NC baptist men arive at disaster areas before the red cross even. Liberals say they care for the less fortunate among us, yet they turn to government who can’t get anything accomplished to fix the problem, conservatives give to charity organazations at a 3 to 1 rate over liberals, those organazations produce results. This country was founded on religion, and religion is the ONLY hope to get us out of the mess we are in, the founders are rolling in there graves b\c of this socialist administration, so go ahead and sling your insults at me, just remember, JESUS SAVES! ( wonder if my comment gets deleted for that, we’ll see )

  42. Charlie says:

SHANE2813, what is your avatar of? Looks like some fancy scienetific pics of a bullet being shot into ballistics gel.

  43. Jeff says:

Like Fox News MSNBC is also 13 years old. Unlike Fox News 13 also matches the number of viewers they have. At this rate the sun will burn out before they beat fox in the ratings.

  44. PaulDPearl says:

Just watched part of Oberman’s “Obamacare or Die” hour long sob-fest… it looked to me like he was trying to fire up some Glenn Beck-like tears for Health care… LOL

Then Ray MADCow shows her hypocrical side.. pushing for the use of “reconciliation” to pass HEALTH CARE – when everyone on the left was threatening civil war if the republicans used it to approve judicial nominees.

  45. Kenny says:

Religion is a neurological disorder only a moron would believe in that superstitous nonsense

  46. wolfster38 says:

I just saw Rachal (POTSY) Maddcow she was talking about Bush’s use of reconciliation, saying Bush used it for taxes. Witch it was. So why not use it now she said they used it before.

But Potsy, It was used for a tax cut not to raise our taxes.
    (WALLET RAPE)
Got to love the lib spin. If you can’t see through this you are a blind follower.

And why are MSNBC ratings so low? Maybe it’s the lowlifes on MSNBC!

  47. BornintheUSA says:

Shane2813 – in your dreams!!! Get a grip will you, we are all Americans and we value our individualism. You want to destroy what you don’t agree with. We need dialogue and a willingness to work together to get things done. You and your ilk are the terrorists!

  48. BornintheUSA says:

To you guys who are so afraid of socialism but are for the insurance companies. What is socialism, listening to you it is the redistribution of wealth. What do you think paying into insurance is? You pay in and if you need it you take out! By gum, redistribution of wealth!

Only in reality it doesn’t always work that way, you pay in and if you are lucky you get to take it out when you need it.

  49. Philosopher Jay says:

Good Tuesday for Fox, but a better one for MSNBC. Versus one week ago:
Fox Daytime up 7,000, MSNBC Daytime up 40,000
Fox Primetime up 74,000, MSNBC Primetime up 342,000.
At 8 PM, O’Reilly was down 264,000, Olbermann up 393,000.

The rise in Fox ratings on Tuesday this week may be attributed entirely to Michael Moore being on Hannity. His program was up 307,000.

  50. BornintheUSA says:

Wolfster38, CONGRESS used reconciliation to pass a Bush tax-cut. Bush didn’t, get your facts straight.

Besides, Obama has said repeatedly that he wants the majority of funding for healthcare reform to come from smarter use of existing funds. Will that happen, probably not but you are acting as if it is written in stone. And if it comes from taxes it will be from the repeal of the Bush tax-cuts to the wealthy, back to Clinton-era taxes and if I remember correctly most people were doing pretty darn well in those years.

And speaking of spin, don’t kid yourself, both sides are plenty guilty of that!

  51. wolfster38 says:

You know what I mean. Congress Bush, Congress Obama same thing in the end.

  52. wolfster38 says:

My point was it was for tax cuts not to raise taxes.

  53. Blaffie says:

@BornintheUSA: Buying insurance (so far) is a personal choice. That differs from socialism in that no choice is given to you in how the money taken from your earnings is spent.

However, if some of the health care proposals make it through, we will either have to buy insurance or be fined. That isn’t socialism?

  54. wolfster38 says:

And wasn’t it a Democratic Congress that was in control for one of the tax cut? And they couldn’t stop it? Or did some vote present?

  55. wolfster38 says:

And voting present is a great why to hide what Congressman or Senators true agenda is. Ya know, when they do it all the time!

MMM MMM MMM Wonder who did that?

  56. AppleStinx says:

BornintheUSA wrote: “We need dialogue and a willingness to work together to get things done.”

    Agreed. Tax cuts, for one.

  57. Darla says:

I just watched Keith Olbermann give his very moving speech regarding health care. I am left feeling a bit like a bug on its back, flailing helplessly against an impossible predicament. I wish I had a nice big living room, some easy chairs, a huge pot of coffee and all of you sitting around to discuss this issue. AvatarI, you are a delightfully agile writer. The same could be said of many of the people on this blog. I enjoy it immenseley.

However, having just listened to Mr. Olberman, as I stated above, I feel the need to take this out of the arena of intellectual discourse and “do” something. I’ve written to my congresspeople, I’ve called the DNC and my Senators. I watch FOX, MSNBC,CNN, and NBC news each night to the point that I am getting bleary eyed, and angry at all of them.

This is not just an intellectual exercise any more. People are dying. Children are going without medical care and we are doing nothing about it. I misspoke previously that America is number 49 in health care. We are, in fact, now rated 19. That is just below Portugal. Every day at least one person dies because they don’t have health care, often the one person is a child.

I want Glenn Beck to stop nit-picking and put his resources behind figuring out health care. We all agree he is a brilliant speaker with a large audience. AvatarI reminded me that the president has far more power, but remember, a tiny mosquito stopped the powerful Panama Canal project in its tracks for a very long time. (Please excuse the dimunitive metaphor). I don’t want the Right Wing to spend any more time on death panels, birth certificate questions, forced payments for abortions, or illegal aliens getting medical care… Our citizens are dying every day we pause to bicker.

AvatarI, after all your study, have you come to any conclusions re: God? I have also invested over 30 years in everything from “The Golden Bough” through The Koran, The Egyptian and Tibetan Books of the Dead, the Dead Sea Scrolls, I was in Seminary to study The Book of Mormon, I have read The Torah, parts of the Talmud, literally everything I could find. I even studied Wicca, Rosacrusians, Christian Science, and years and years of Bible study.I was going to become a Franciscan Nun but I was already married and it would have taken much from my daughter’s needs. I spent two years drumming with a group of shamans, learning to leave my body. After all that, I am left confused but relatively certain that life does, indeed, continue after this existance and that some form of intelligence is guiding our process. I don’t really believe in any one church so I say I am a Christian, I am baptised Episcopalian. But I am closer to Japanese Nature Religion or even Native American beliefs in actual practice.

I tell you all this because I think this issue is far more than just about insurance. It is a moral and ethical issue. It defines who we are as a people. If there “is” a purpose to life, then surely it is not just to amass as much money, furs, jewelry, cars, etc. as possible. Maybe like in quantum physics, we make our own reality. That would explain how someone as obviously intelligent as you and some of the others are could watch Glenn Beck and not be put off by some of his less than stellar tactics. And that could explain why I can think Rachel Maddow is a darling, smart as a whip young woman who tells the truth as she sees it. Maybe the observer is influencing the process… now there’s an idea… maybe those who watch SpongeBob are taking the wisest tack.

Anyway, I still want the public option. I still want guns to be not allowed in public forums. It doesn’t require a semi-automatic to take down a deer or a moose. There are no bear, deer,or moose at public meetings. Only the occasional donkey or elephant. For safety sake, we should outlaw firearms within a 1-mile radius of such a meeting.

I wish you would watch keith Olberman’s one-hour speech about health care. He did a wonderful job, even used most of those orator’s tricks that I spoke about earlier. But, he also made me think and realize rhat this is fun for me to talk to you. It is not, however, fun for someone who has no insurance and their child is dying. If you have any ideas how to get our Senators to do something right for a change, I would love to hear it.I have written to all of them and called the DNC and my two Senators. Any ideas? Take Care

  58. wolfster38 says:

Who needs a one hour speech? It’s going to take an hour to read all the crap you just posted.

    Darla, are you keith overbite?

  59. BornintheUSA says:

Wolfster38, I noticed you were a stickler for spelling. I am a stickler for fscts. Say what you mean and mean what you say. We are not mind-readers.

Blaffine, do you not have to buy auto insurance if you drive? Do you not have to buy Home Owners insurance if you finance a home? Is that socialism? Is Social Security socialism? Maybe these things are a form of socialism, that does not make them evil. Is there a better way? Let’s hear it instead of demonizing something that clearly helps so many. Besides, one of the basic functions of our government is to look out for the well being of it’s citizens, to “promote the general Welfare”.

Wolfster38, there were a few Dems that voted for the Bush era tax-cuts.

  60. Philosopher Jay says:

Regarding Jeff’s statement, “Like Fox News MSNBC is also 13 years old. Unlike Fox News 13 also matches the number of viewers they have. At this rate the sun will burn out before they beat fox in the ratings.”

Please remember that Olbermann has only been on for six years, whereas O’Reilly has been on for thirteen years.
If we go back to Oct 2005, O’Reilly averaged 2,678,000 viewers; Olbermann averaged 381,000.
Compare that to the ratings above: O’Reilly 3,263,000; Olbermann 1,132,000. O’Reilly has gone up about 15%, while Olbermann has gone up about 300%.
Olbermann has cut a 7:1 lead down to less than 3:1. The 25-54 demos look even better for Olbermann
Just as David Letterman never caught Jay Leno, it is possible that they will both continue to be successful with O’Reilly in the lead until O’Reilly retires. O’Reilly is 10 years older than Olbermann, so Olbermann will certainly outlast him.

    yes, none o’clock

  62. Blaffie says:

Darla, do you have any information on how many Americans are “dying in the streets” because of our shoddy health care system?

I thought we had a requirement that no one can be turned away from an emergency room. I also thought that our emergency care system was one of the best in the world.

Did Olbermann provide any sources to back up the claim that Americans are dying because we haven’t enacted health care reform?

I have tried to find data to back up this claim, but have not been able to do so.

  63. BornintheUSA says:

Wolfster38, after reading your brilliant answer to Darla’s obvious heartfelt post I have to conclude that you are an intolerant ass!

You don’t have to agree with her points, you don’t even have to read what she felt moved to post but do you have to be such a jerk?

  64. wolfster38 says:

General Welfare means: Keeping our Country safe! Not giving away money.

  65. BornintheUSA says:

Blaffie, yes there is, as far as I know, a requirement to Emergency Rooms to not turn away those who need it’s services. Guess who pays for that if the patient cannot?

  66. BornintheUSA says:

General welfare means JUST THAT! What you are talking about is “provide for the common defence”.

And the fix for that is to simply take my money up front, as is currently being proposed? And that will cost me less? I think not.

  71. BornintheUSA says:

What I am saying is that even though there are certain aspects of a system that is socialistic it does not necessarily make it socialism.

And yes it is your choice, as it is your choice as to whether you live or die.

  72. wolfster38 says:

Yes I am intolerant of those who attack those who they disagree with.

So you can come here and talk bad about FOX and all the stupid people who watch FOX, but the numbers don’t lie!
Obama’s numbers go down and the FOX numbers go up!
THAT IS THE TRUTH! Spin that!

I was very touched by your message. Being moved so deeply by an issue that it calls you to action is an incredible feeling. I was similarly moved to action earlier this summer– except, I was on the other side of the issue. I went to my first ever townhall meeting, and called my senators and congressmen as well. Unfortunately, it didn’t end so well for me. For my participation in the process, I was labeled a racist, a Nazi, a thug, an uneducated rube, and AstroTurf.
I will not do the same by labelling you with denegrating language that is meant to minimize you and keep you quiet. Darla, you keep fighting for what you believe–as will I. That is what America is all about. In the end I believe we will all come out winners, however the healthcare debate ends.

  81. BornintheUSA says:

BTW, My personal investments I am sure are out performing yours I’ll wager, at least percentage wise, and I’m still for SS.

Besides railing against it is butting your head against a wall, it is far too wildly popular a program, like Medicare. Incidentally, at least a few republicans have come out as defenders of Medicare! Who’da thunk it?

  82. Blaffie says:

I repeat. Nobody forces me to buy home or auto insurance. As proposed, I will have to pay for medical insurance even if I don’t want to.

The Constitution, The Intellectual High Ground by wolfster38

    Thomas Jefferson wrote:
“In questions of power, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.”

Today the Constituion is used by our leader to bind the people. The Constutution was written as a contract that all elected leader swore to follow. It was the chains that binded them. The Constutution was the promise that the people would always be the true power of our great Country. The Federal Government was put in place to keep the Country safe from ememys. Also treaties with other Country that had nothing in them that would impede the people of this Country, And help the people of this country down a path of the peoples choice and not choosing a path for them! All other power would go to the states.

If you look at how the Constitution was written, it was written in such a way that all literate people could read it and that they could explain to the nonliterate citizens. This was the hopes of our forefathers. Now, the lawyers in Washington try to interpret it’s true meaning. The truth is, there is no more perfectly written document that came from the hands of man. This was a document made so the people could hold it up in the face of our elected leaders and tell them when they are wrong! Our leaders should never tell us what it means and should never be interpreted by the Government for it’s own advantage.

This is a truly great Country, We (for the most part) do not have riots when we disagree we have intellectual riots a real fight for the hearts and minds. Most of our elected leaders in Washington would argue that they have the intellectual high ground because theY went to Harvard. In part this might be true they may well be more intellectual than alot of us but, we are the ones who really hold the intellectual high ground for this reason. The truth is with us as is The Constituion.

To the people of The United States of America I say, “Every American should have a copy of The Constitution and The Declaration of Independence you should learn it’s true meaning so that the Government never has to tell you what it means. The first three word of the Constitution are – WE THE PEOPLE. Not, We the Government.”

To the Government I say, “Follow our rules! WE ARE THE PEOPLE!”

    Amendment X
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

  84. Blaffie says:

I actually see how SS has in the past benefited those who would not otherwise save and invest. Medicare probably has, as well, but it’s a tax on employers. My problem with each is my loss of personal choice. I really don’t want the government making that kind of personal choice for ME.

  85. BornintheUSA says:

Well Blaffie, I’m all ears as to how you can come up with a better system. There are what, almost 400 million people in this country? To be frank, most of them don’t really want personal choice, they want a system that works and will follow it instead of working one up from scratch for themselves.

And don’t kid yourself about it being a choice about driving or home ownership. if you don’t live “off the grid” you are paying somehow, someway.

It was a pleasure talking and expressing ideas with someone who is respectful of others even in disagreement.

It is late for me and I must go.

    Good night all!

  86. Blaffie says:

I guess I’ll have to wait for that information on how many are “dying in the streets” due to dragging our feet on health care reform. Maybe if I keep watching Olbermann he will relay some factual information to back up this claim. Strange thing, though. A bill could be passed tomorrow by Democrats if they really believed they had the answer. So just how is it that this is being held up by Republicans? Maybe it would be better to keep tuning in to FNC to find out.

  87. Blaffie says:

Good night. Enjoy your cable news!

  88. Darla says:

Blaffie, I have a dear friend whose husband took a higher paying job in the Seattle area (They were living in New Mexico). All was going okay for a week or two when they realized that she was pregnant (A pre-existing condition according to the new insurance- pre-existing by about 2 weeks). They were stunned, but ready to give it a good old fashioned try by paying monthly payments throughout the pregnancy.
To make matters worse, they laid off her husband after three months. The business was going under.

He got another job, but no insurance would pick up the baby because there were some complications. When the baby was born, he had what is called trisomi 19 (3 instead of 2 of the 19th chromosome.) That meant that he would live about 2 months at best, they would have to intubate him, use intervenus feeding, and have 24/7 care.

The baby did, in fact, die after about 6 weeks. It was awful. It was also very, very expensive. They will probably never pay the bill off. They have three other kids and are paying all they can each month. They may have to sell their new house because the combined medical and funeral costs were simply too high for them to deal with.

That is one example. I think I could find some stats on the internet somewhere when I have time. I know that I hold off on going to the doctor sometimes because someone else in the family has to go and I don’t want to pay 2 bills in one month. My neice is waiting to see what happens with this bill before she gets her operation that would cost her $60,000 with her current insurance because of co-pay…. These are solidly middle class people. I can hardly imagine what people are going through who make $20,000 at MacDonalds.

  92. JC says:

Darla, that’s a very sad story. Pre-exisiting conditions is certainly nothing new. Twice in my life I’ve had to deal with that. You know what, we paid the hospital and it took years. We never considered it was anyone else’s responsibility. (not saying your friends did either). My husband was teacher and in the summer he bagged groceries and did whatever else he could. While I would like to see the pre-existing conditions go away, I do not want to sacrifice freedoms of choice when it comes to keeping my doctor I’ve had for 20 years, or feeling confident my chosen physicians are free to take care of me and my family without restriction and punishments put on them by the federal government. While Pilosi wants to tax all kinds of equipment right down to medical kits, ie, pap smear kits, who do you think these costs are going to be passed on to? Interesting how many in Congress like extremely wealthy Pilosi, never have to worry about how they can get to the next paycheck, or that higher taxes will never change their lifestyles.

My thoughts and prayers are with your friends and your niece. My thoughts right now to take care of any needed surgeries now or you may not be approved to have them if this health care reform goes through. We should fix what is broken NOT break what is not broken.

  93. KD says:

    @Darla

Because you seem to insist on implying our healthcare system isn’t up to par versus the rest of the world, here are some FACTS about our HEALTHCARE SYSTEM. Please note, a nation’s HEALTH is not solely affected by a nation’s HEALTHCARE SYSTEM. In fact, the LARGEST affect on a nation’s HEALTH comes from BEHAVIORS (40%) – e.g. lack of exercise, alcohol/drug/tobacco use, eating habits, etc. Only 10% comes from the quality of the HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.

    Here are the facts:

Mortality rate for major trauma: US 8.2%, Germany 14.3%, Great Britain 16.5%, France 17.1%. Thus, you are 2x more likely to die from a major trauma in the Great Britain than in the US.

Mortality rate for heart attack: US 6.5%, Germany 8.1%, Great Britain 9.4%, France 9.2%. Thus, you are 50% more likely to die from a heart attack in Great Britain than in the US.

Mortality rate for infants born with a weight less than 1500 grams: US 12.2%, Canada 16.4%, Germany 21.1%, Sweden 22.4%, UK 24.5%. Thus, a newborn less than 1500 grams is 2x more likely to die in the UK than in the US.

Five-year survival rate for breast cancer (the number one cancer in women, 33% of all cancers in women): US 90.1%, Europe 79.0%. Thus, 11 more women out of 100 die in Europe from breast cancer than in the US.

Five-year survival rate for prostate cancer (the number one cancer in men): US 99.3%, 77.5%. Thus, 22 more men out of 100 die in Europe from prostate cancer.

Fiver year survival rate for all cancers: US 66.3% (men) / 62.9% (women), Europe 47.3% (men) / 55.8% (women).

Clearly, our HEALTHCARE SYSTEM is not the problem. What is the problem is our BEHAVIORS.

FWIW, NONE of the networks or politicians are address the REAL ISSUE with HEALTH in the US. The issue is NOT the HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, it is our UNHEALTHY LIFESTYLE.

How did we get to the point where anything factual or issue-related is “conservative”? I’ll tell you exactly how.

The major networks (ABC, NBC, CBS) don’t do news anymore. They tell you “The Republicans say THIS, but the Democrats say THAT.” and they end it there… WHAT INFORMATION DO YOU GET FROM THAT??!?!? And most cable networks (CNN, MSNBC) don’t even go that far. They just tell you “The Democrats say THAT”, and that’s all you hear…

Fox get’s labled “conservative” because they say “The Republicans say THIS, but the Democrats say THAT.” and THEN do some ACTUAL reporting to analyze which is more correct. It turns out that it’s frequently the Republicans – which makes Fox APPEAR conservative because they’re telling you the Republicans are correct. Incidentally, the ALSO do it if the Democrats are correct but, let’s face it, with Pelosi, Reid, Obama, Gibbs, Biden, Rangel, etc. it’s pretty rare these days.

America is falling apart all around us and people believe Fox is unfair and conservative because that’s what they’ve been told. Here’s a thought: WATCH FOR YOURSELF. There is no better way to prove whether it’s true or not. Remember, if America collapses – there isn’t any way to get it back. Until the day you die, you and your family will suffer because of it. Are you really going to just LET that happen because a couple dozen people on the internet told you not to listen to what’s going on around you?

I’m sitting here waiting to be attacked… fyi, I’m 40 years old, balding, and I wear glasses… I’m sure if you throw in some comments like “4-eyed cueball” or something, that will help to prove me wrong… ANYTHING other than what’s really going on.

  120. Blaffie says:

    @Darla,
My heart goes out to anyone who has to endure personal tragedy. I still believe that neither our health care system nor our government is the cause of that personal tragedy. (Not yet anyway.) I do think that the system could be better. It will not improve, however, by devising a plan to appease special interests as is currently being done. What is needed is tort reform, removal of interstate restrictions on buying policies, and, something that can be done any time, reduction of corruption/waste. None of this will be accomplished until we invoke campaign and lobby reform, however. Most people have no problem with paying for the care of the truly deserving. We have always tried to look after our widows and orphans, but are understandably reluctant to help people who will not help themselves. We are tired of giving our money to people who cheat and lie and waste. That has been our history since the advent of “The Great Society”. Enough.

By their town hall behavior and the gravitation of viewers to FNC, more and more Americans are saying, “enough”.

Bill Gorman’s admonition about this being a cable news ratings post and not the place for politics confuses me. Beck, O’Reilly, Olberman, Hannity, etc. are political/cultural commentators. Their shows are not news shows. So what exactly are the parameters of this site? Could you clarify this for me Bill? I don’t want to mess things up for others.

  123. Bill Gorman says:

Feel free to talk about cable news shows, but take the discussions soley about, for example, the US heathcare system elsewhere.

I don’t know how many people are interested in analyzing tv ratings data. It would seem from the discussions on this site that most people would rather analyze and debate the issues raised on the various shows. But rules are rules. So adios! Sorry Darla, I would have liked to continue our discussions.

  125. Darla says:

AvatarI, I shall miss our discussions also. The ratings are tied to the political beliefs of the viewers. That is why I wanted a geographical breakdown when I originally visited this site… But,as you said, rules are rules. Take care.
