Good news for Shonda Rhimes, ABC and anyone else fretting over what impact a few Meredith Grey-less episodes might have had on Grey’s Anatomy’s ratings, Ellen Pompeo is headed back to work ahead of schedule.

via Kristin Dos Santos:

Ellen Pompeo’s early return to set after having a baby means not a single Anatomy episode will air sans Meredith Grey

Sources confirm that Ellen Pompeo is expected to return to the set of Grey’s Anatomy “very soon” after giving birth to baby girl Stella Luna on Sept. 15. Thanks to her early return, as well as her willingness to pre-shoot scenes before the birth (most of which took place in bed after Meredith’s liver surgery in last night), it appears to be working out that not a single episode will go Meredith Grey-less.

that was fast congrats on her new baby and i coulnt get enough of my greys

  2. DenverDean says:

They may have discovered that Meredith-less episode were higher — kind of like the Regis minus Kathie Lee effect! Not into the show, but glad that she’s able to return. (Plus, right now, I want all scripted dramas to do well.)

  3. Sean G says:

Well that sucks, I was looking forward to some Meredith free viewing!

  4. Andrew says:

I love that shes returning so soon.
    she IS the show.
and I can’t wait to see her adorable baby :)

  5. Dina says:

    EXCELLENT
    Ellen Pompeo rules baby

  6. Jesse says:

Loving this. Ellen is a trooper for doing this for her fans.
I hope we get alot of Meredith Grey centric episodes come 609 and after.

  7. S. says:

She is not doing it for the fans, she is terrified of the idea that it can survive without her. LOL. To bad. I might have watched out of curiosity, now there is no reason.

  8. Mike says:

The show is FAR better without her. Meredith has to be the worst character on the show by far.

Crap actress carried by her supporting stars.

They have another Grey shining far brighter now.

  9. j says:

The massive amount of hate for her I have never gotten. Now, Katherine Heigl I understand…

My favorite character and actress are Christina/Oh but I still like Mere. I wonder if Mere still will get less screentime on account of the burdens of motherhood though.

  10. Susan says:

damn! I was hoping for some less Meredith forced drama.
It’s bad enough that we’ve had to put up with her and Dempsey this long! time for cast overhaul!

  11. scott says:

Yaaaay!! I’m so happy I love Ellen Pompeo!! Episodes without her would make the show weird.

  12. Julie says:

I love Ellen Pompeo! Give the woman an EMMY already!!!!!!!

  13. za's mom says:

So soon, what about Stella? But I believe in Ellen, she will do well in mixing career and motherhood. Especially ABC and Shonda Rhimes seem to be very accommodating for their show’s leading lady.
Thank you Ellen!! It would be weird watching Grey’s without Meredith (I would have not watched at all!!). Meredith is a very inspiring character. She is a story of survival and beyond!!!
