When Glenn Beck took over Fox’s 5pm weekday timeslot, Fox’s 5pm average viewership was approximately equal to its 3 main cable news competitors combined (CNN, HLN, MSNBC). He quickly opened a gap of about 500,000 average viewers, but in August his viewership began to grow rapidly and his lead over the combined competition is now approaching 1.5 million average viewers (a factor of nearly 2x).
This interesting chart was another collaboration between two of our readers. Reader Dave created the chart using the data patiently assembled by reader MikeS.

Call the President racist and your ratings go up. Great. Good going America.
Fear and smear does wonders for tv news ratings.
GLENN CALLS IT AS HE SEE’S IT. IF JUST SO HAPPENS HE SPEAKS WHAT MANY, MANY OF US KNOW.
Watching Glenn is like watching the Watergate investigation – he keeps asking questions (like those questions many viewers have been asking for a long time) and then waits for the answers – he researches and researches and tells you how and where he researched. He explains only FACTS and he supports his facts with his research.
He questions with Boldness! Knowing that the truth will set you free.
If all the other net works did this then their ratings would go up too!
During the primaries I kept asking myself where Woodward and Bernstein were? Glenn is the only one so far that is looking not for “propaganda” but just answers and the truth. I for one never knew that Tides wrote the Stimulus bill. But there was Harry Reid thanking Tides for the bill. But who is Tides?…. just watch Glenn and he will connect the truth with facts.
Well i hate Beck but sometime i watch just to see what crazy stuff he does. Probably i’m not the only one. Let’s not forget Jon and Kate got 10 millions, people love watching stupid things
I’ve been watch Glenn Beck for a while now. I haven’t seen him do anything “crazy”. What did he use to do that I missed before I started watching his program? What made him go into serious straight-forward questioning and reporting? Why did he stop being crazy? Was it no longer fun? Gee, I’m sorry I missed his zany days.
yeah baby the republic is making a comeback we are taking our country back!!!!!!!
P.S. the only time I’ve ever seen Beck is on Youtube with regards to the ACORN vids. So don’t even try to go there. I don’t waste my time with the MSMs for the most part, Fox is the closest to “fair and balanced” but -none- of them do a satisfactory job.
Beck is not a journalist and you people are f***** clueless to actually compare him to Woodward and Bernstien.
I really enjoy the people who follow Glenn Beck more then Beck himself. Average people think Beck is nuts but the nuts who watch Beck think they are the average people so no matter what you say against Beck they come back at you with things like “he is the only one telling the truth.”
Beck is the modern day pied piper and how he gets people to follow him is genius. I think he is one of the smartest people on TV, he is an amazing actor because people who watch him don’t think he’s acting. And now he is getting rich, just wait till Fox moves him into prime time, he will start beating O’Reilly.
Beck not a journalist??? Thank God! That means we can trust what he says!
We all know how this Howard Beale story ends.
Sandra Martin…. greatest.comment.ever
It would be nice to have numbers for the 5 PM time period before Beck appeared.
Beck apparently started off promising not to be partisan. (http://mediamatters.org/research/200903050029)
Apparently, this approach only lasted for three weeks, and his corporate masters were not satisfied with the ratings.
On February 6th, he starting calling the Obama administration both socialist and fascist. (http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200902060027)
This right-left, left-right attack was a standard fascist trick of the Nazis: they accused the Jews of being both capitalists and communists at the same time, thus gathering both anti-capitalist and anti-communist haters behind the Fuerher. It was quite successful and their vote count went from 800,000 in 1928 to 17 million votes in 1933.
After doing these fascistic ad hominum attacks, Beck seems to have been consistently getting about 500,000 more viewers than other cable news stations from the middle of February to the end of July.
It was only on July 28th that Beck called Obama a racist. This gave him a massive amount of publicity. He was in every newspaper and on just about every television and radio news show for about a week. This seems to have added another 500,000 viewers.
He was on the cover of Time Magazine on Sept. 17 and interviewed by Katie Coric. This appears to have added about 300,000 additional viewers.
So we can distribute the increase this way:
Use of old left-right/right-left Nazi tactics: 500,000 viewers gained.
White Supremacist name calling: 500,000 viewers gained.
Cover of Time Magazine Publicity: 300,000 viewers gained.
That’s wonderful logic Martin, use that through out history and I guess we would never know much of anything about this country.
Hehe, I knew this site was coveted by old, white America. At first I just thought it was coincidence that a ton of the comments for the late night shows smacked of ‘old’ but now, seeing that there are actually people who see Beck positively, I can conclude that it’s no coincidence at all.
At least it’s comforting to know that the ‘average’ American is the lazies person in the whole world, so no matter what insane idea Beck may convince his lunatic audience to agree with it won’t actually amount to anything. Teabaggers? What have you done yet? You realize that the rest of America, and the world, are laughing at you, right? You see – it’s hard to convince people who are infinitely more highly educated than you to do what you want them to do by shouting racism and ignorance.
[Comments closing in 3... 2... 1...]
keep calling Beck crazy… meanwhile everything he touches yields results,, ACORN, NEA Van Jones.. notice the left just calls him crazy and never defends his arguments….. because they can’t. The truth cant be denied. Only diluted. This is why they use things like ” “politically correct and hate speech or the fairness doctorine” if you cant argue on the facts, just silence the other side ….
Beck only appeals to uneducated and primitive – amazing they can even find their way to the internet *g*
Glenn Beck is awful. He’s a mascot for nutcases who just want to shut their ears, close their eyes, and be fed “the truth” by someone with zero credentials and a shady drug-filled past. Yeah, way to go.
I LOVE Glenn Beck’s show.
He has a good team and always an interesting collection of topics, and very intelligent visitors on his show.
If you do not like Beck, do not say anything nasty, just don’t watch his show.
People who bash him are the same that think GW Bush was a dope and love Keith O, and listen to Al Gore and Michael Moore and believe what they have to say. After Bush won the election, the left got together and their main motivation and goal was to trash Bush and tear him down. Well, it looked like jr high school to me on the television cable stations. esp msnbc. Absolutely silly.
Funny, I don’t hear conservatives using the word “hate.” Not resorting the juvenile name calling. Beck tells the truth and the real haters can’t handle it. Go Beck Go! It’s a free country, at least for now, and you have a choice — don’t like Beck then don’t watch him.
All of you that say negative things about people that like glenn beck.
take a look at yourselves. You voted for an empty suit hope+change guy, so keep watching your stations to quench your thirst for more leg tingles
Kermonk-
proves my point… “nutcases” responds with pure emotion and name calling. He cant defend his point of view though .. typical
Yes Glenn Beck may be a little crazy, but he keeps shining the ligth
the dark recesses that the people in power doewn’t what it whone on. Who had heard about ACORN until Glenn started to bring it to the light of day. The national spokeman for ACORN look likes and acts like a gumba from the mob. He brought out the $1 million dollor that was embezzeled from ACORN, and now we hear that is closer to $5 million dollars. Beck is bring out stories that the supposely real newspeople seem to totaly ignore. Case in point the US Teasury Bonds that were found in the possession of foreign men trying to smuggle them in Switzerland. $134 1/2 billion dollars worth. There were not front page stories about it the New York Times was there. Glenn asked the question why did it take the adminstration so long to send someone over there to look at the bonds. Now Glenn’s target is SEIU, it is going to get real interesting, considered this the former head of SEIU in LA just got convicted and sent to prison for 40 years for crimes. It is just the tip of the ice berg. There is no telling how deep Comrade Obama is involved in all this. He does come from pay and paid Chicago.
Why are comments open on these posts? Glenn Beck uses rhetoric that is often very dangerous. He’s the voice of the right wing fringe, not the actual conservative movement. Sure he speaks the truth and asks questions without answers, but when he says focuses on stories like Obama’s birth that truth looks like, “Obama hasn’t shown us a birth certificate, how do we know he’s American?” For those out there who only listen to Beck, the answer is that there are multiple sources that prove Obama was born in Hawaii, including a local newspaper announcement. Oh and btw Obama is not godless, he goes to church more often than any president in recent U.S history and he’s also not racist, seeing as how there is nothing in his history to suggest that unless you count nominating a non-white to the Supreme Court. Just because someone in a nice suit says it, doesn’t mean its true. Its just outlandish rhetoric.
Note that those ratings only really started to trend up around September 1, when the so far unaddressed question whether Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990 began to be raised.
The only people who think Glenn Beck is dangerous are those that fear the truth and can’t refute the facts.
Why are you Beck likers (or whatever you want to be called) saying that the Beck opponents aren’t arguing against Beck’s points? Beck opponents do it all the time. The idea that you have to like nut balls like Michael Moore or Keith Olbermann to hate Beck is rediculous and PROVES the division that figures like Beck/Olbermann/O’Reilly/etc create. In fact, I’ve seen video after video of old, white southerners claiming that Fox News is the only channel they watch for news; which alone is an admission of choosing to stay ignorant to an entire side of an argument. You guys don’t hear Beck opponents disproving his claims because you don’t want to have to find that info for yourselves. The sentence, “Beck is the only one telling the truth” is full admission that Beck is the one and only source of info you use – a sad and disturbing state that makes me weep for America.
Like so many other lazy Americans you want an under qualified, news radio hosting, former addict, ‘born again’ Christian (who may or may not have committed rape), who admits to not being anything more than a ‘commenter with an opinion’, all the while claiming Obama to be a racist than thirty seconds later say, “I’m not saying Obama hates white people” to tell you what to think.
I for one hope people like Beck, Hannity, and Limbaugh keep doing what they are doing. Because, as long as the republican party is dominated by hordes of uneducated, out of touch, old white men people with any sense of reality will be able to take advantage of the situation quite easily.
try ignoring his “personality” and ask yourself if the information provided is accurate…make your own decisions based on facts not his style of presentation – labeling someone a whack job so therefore discounting anything he says as invalid (communications block 101) is self-defeating if your goal is the truth of the information.
Well said Johnny, well said!
he shame of this country. But these 3 million Americans take pride in supporting that joke.
He’s*
Lets see how long Fox allows this level of nonesense to hit the air waves. Will they wait too long before he hits the fan for real?
Glen Beck relies on fear and hate to generate ratings. His show is NOT to be taken as fact or news it is purely entertainment(and it’s not even good entertainment at that). If you believe that Glen is really uncovering hidden truths than why is he on at 5pm?
The few times I have tried to watch him I am amazed at the level of inaccuracies he spouts as FACT or how he asks his open ended questions with no answer just the insinuation that he is all knowing.
He is not a journalist he is a second rate entertainer on the worst example of a news network on TV. Please America hate and lies will not help solve anything stop watching these fools on Fox News (Entertainment) and do your own thinking and fact checking – I assure you Glen Beck does not have your best interests in mind when he collects his paycheck.
Oh, and to think that Beck was the one that brought down ACORN is flat out retarded. A guy and his girlfriend did that vigilante style investigating themselves to find those instances of ACORN breaking the rules.
Beck hasn’t done jack-s**t beyond further divide Americans, promote racial tension, given a voice to the uneducated, and further disturb the very sensitive political ecosystem that he has never legitimately been a part of (all the while crying like a little b**ch).
Love the Howard Beale reference. Beck has tapped into a sentiment exactly like Beale did in Network.
Thanks, Dave and Mike S. for all your hard work. I just love visuals!
And for the record, Glenn Beck rocks! He has shamed us up off the couch, encouraging us to voice our opinions and stand up for our rights and beliefs and the America we love so dearly.
I firmly believe that when people voted for change last November they truly wanted WASHINGTON POLITICS to change for the better, not for America to be upended. They wanted all the stupid partisanship sniping to go away. They wanted the spending to stop and our economy brought under control. However, they were duped along the way. We all were.
So what happened? Did we see bipartisanship as promised? Transparency as promised? Nope! Republican suggestions were voted down in committee, never seeing the light of day. After all, the Democrats had won — “so suck it up, losers.” Yeah, some bipartisan cooperation indeed! Anyone who finally woke up and voted against spending (TARP, Stimulus, Omnibus, Cap and Trade, Health Care) was labeled an “obstructionist.”
When those of us at home finally got up off our behinds and called, e-mailed and even visited our congressmen and senators, attended Town Halls, took part in Tea Parties and marched on Washington to make our voices heard, demanding that bills be read before voting on them — we are labeled as “astoturf,” “Nazis,” or even worse, “racist.” Personally, I don’t give a damn what color the president is. He could be purple with orange stripes. I don’t care! It’s not about HIM — it’s about his policies and unbridled spending, and about the “company he keeps.” We don’t want communists and socialists in our halls of government. It’s about our arrogant Congress who keep ignoring us — the taxpayers who pay their salary — that bring out our ire. It’s about the color green — as in money — that has our attention, not race.
I want honesty and integrity in our government. I want to see ALL the unethical, unscrupulous people OUT of Washington. I want character to count, not the color of one’s skin, to borrow a phrase from Dr. King. I want to preserve our Constitution as written! I don’t need some stupid Nannystate to tell me how to live my life. I want our country strong and our military respected (and thanked) for the incredible job they are doing in protecting us each and every day, whether here or abroard. I want a secure border. I want the water turned back on in the San Joaquin Valley in California so the farmers can grow their crops and have their jobs back — and the smelt be damned! I want us all to live in safe environments and have our kids get good educations — and I want the jobs there so they can have the lives they’ve dreamed about. I want our currency stabilized. I want all types of energy resources explored, including nuclear power, ANWAR and off-shore drilling.
But most of all, I want America to remain #1 in the world as a world leader. We are, after all, the “land of the FREE and the home of the brave.” And THAT is a “status quo” that I will fight for tooth-and- nail, no matter the price. So, listen up, Washington elites — I’m an Independent and I vote (and so do all my little friends) — your time is drawing nigh — 2010 is fast approaching!
GOD bless America — and Glenn Beck, too!
Beck is a commentator and entertainer, not a jouranlist. He expresses his opinions. He has exposed corruption and presented facts that have resulted in action against ACORN, NEA, and Van Jones. Beck is effective. He presents compelling, factual information in an entertaining manner. Over and over, he states that he’d love to be “wrong” about his predictions of disaster for the U.S. economy. He’d rather the country succeed for everyone than have his prognostications become reality. He readily admits his past personal failures in a self-deprecating fashion. For those reasons, he draws more viewers at 5:00, than others draw in prime time.
Olbermann is a commentator and entertainer, not a journalist. He presents his opinions. I’m not aware of Olbermann presenting any facts that resulted in congressional or executive action. Olbermann presents like-minded buddies, such as Janeane Garafalo to parrot his opinions. Olbermann never discusses his own well-documented personal failures. Olbermann has never uttered a self-deprecating comment. Olbermann’s ego would never allow him to admit, much less hope that he is wrong about anything.
That good sir, is why the self-described “rodeo clown” with facts and a heart draws a larger audience that a pompous ass with a sneer— despite the rodeo clown’s inferior time slot.
Let the rodeo clown continue to present facts and ask questions for 2.5 million people a day. Let Olbermann and Matthews compare the respective thrills that run up their legs each time Obama utters a word for a fraction of Beck’s audience.
You guys sound so funny. Saying things like Beck brought action against ACORN – which he didn’t.
Let’s look at this in another way: What have any of YOU done? Beck doesn’t do anything himself, being a pundit and all, so what have you done with his info?
What facts did Beck report. You mean the time he tried to make Van Jones seem like he was an ex-con, with out hardly even acknowledging the fact that he was also a Yale graduate and an author who accomnplished a great deal in his life. Has he brought up Kevin Jennings yet? Yeah that’s one I love hearing the right spin. I won’t go to further into it because it would enter in the arena of politics, but lets put it this way, consenual, legal, thats it. Beck bringing in guests to joke about posoning the speaker of the house, joking about how every democrat is an idiot, and calling the president a racist, I guess that’s all part of his entertainment.
Olbermann called into question the authenticity of the townhallers. After a woman who was protesting claimed that she was not a member of the republican party, it was discovered that she was vice president of her districts party. He also fact checked Palins short sighted “death panels” remark, something the right certainly wouldn’t do. Beck is a clown who does what he does for one thing…money
I have noticed that the people on this blog are often concerned that others “talk down to them,” or maybe “call them racists or idiots,” etc. The numbers show that many people do, in fact, listen to Beck, although he, in my opinion, talks down to people more than anyone I’ve ever heard in news… I’ll give you two specific examples from today’s show:
1: “They rated that a 61 out of 100, for those of you who didn’t get red marks on your papers, that’s bad.”
2: Beck was comparing stats on different insurers regarding claims that were rejected. He showed Aetna as rejecting around 47,000 claims. (This is close, not exact because I am writing from memory.) Then he gave his coup de gras, saying that Medicare had refused some 475,000 claims during the same interval… What he DID NOT address was the other number shown on the same chart: Aetna had around 400,000 claims and medicare had around 4,000,000 claims. The percentages were very similar. (Please don’t tell me that it was 300,000 and 3,000,000; I realize that my numbers aren’t exact, it is the relative difference I am talking about. Watch the show again, if you don’t believe me.)
Glenn Beck is a very clever speaker with an obvious adjenda: He hates our government and our president. He is not Thomas Paine, he is Benedict Arnold.
Johnny wrote: “…Beck doesn’t do anything himself, being a pundit and all, so what have you done with his info?”
Tell friends, open their eyes, the sort of thing one does with useful info.
I used to enjoy watching Beck when he was with CNN. So much so that I used to DVR his show. I didn’t agree with every word he said, but he was always a little comical. Ever since he moved over to Fox, though, he changed his style too much. What used to come across as a good natured ideological debate, has turned into a Jerry Springer type environment. I guess that’s what gets the ratings now. He was averaging less than a million combined viewers a night on HLN.
Wonder why so many people are afraid
of Glenn Beck? Could it be that he
has a tsunami type explosion in his
audience ratings. NBC by comparison
is losing share every day.
Darla writes
Glenn Beck is a very clever speaker with an obvious adjenda: He hates our government and our president. He is not Thomas Paine, he is Benedict Arnold.
An expert on hate and a failure at
spelling.
Kermonk,
These uneducated folks you speak of seem to be the only ones “reading” and learning from non-fiction books.
Beck has 2 NY Times best sellers simultaneously #1 on the list. His second book “Arguing with Idiots” has only been out two weeks!
Start reading, it would do your “mind” a world of good!
BECK IS GREAT I WONDER WHY THE WHITE HOUSE PEOPLE NEVER CALL HIM AND DISPUTE WHAT HE BRINGS UP THEY WON’T BECAUSE HE HAS THE FACTS AND HOPE HE KEEPS IT UP
David; Good point I was wondering
the same thing.
These ratings are for 5:00pm EST. I wonder what his ratings would be if FOX put him on later at a more prime-time slot? There are many people like me who are at work when it comes on (2:00pm my time) and have no way to record it.
Oh, alright, I confess to my Welsh up-bringing… It is agenda, not adjenda and coup de grace, not coup de gras (either way, it sucks and so does Glenn Beck and his ratings.)
The reason Glenn Beck is hated by those on the left is the same reason they hated Rush Limbaugh when he started on radio. The left just cant accept the fact that a conservative can be popular with the american people. While I will admit that he does go over the top at times, he tells it like it is. He doesnt give them hell he tells he truth and they think its hell.
Glenn Beck is bringing back McCarthyism.
Jeff; There is one more reason. The fact
that the Republican Party has no leader
at the present time is driving the left
crazy.
The left follows Saul Alinsky’s
“Rules for Radicals” almost word for
word. Alinsky says “Isolate your opponent’s leader and destroy them”.
In looking for someone to destroy
they go from Rush to Newt to Palin
and now to Glenn with a fury worthy
of a “Pit Bull fight”.
Dang that paragraph was square when I
pushed the Submit button.
I just watched the Glenn Beck u-tube video with Katie Couric (probably spelled wrong… )and I was struck by the way Beck was so utterly reasonable. If he acted like that on his show, he would probably not raise the ire of liberals 1/2 as much as he does now. His ratings would probably fall by more than 1/2, however.
On his show he acts like a totally different personality. He rants, exaggerates, and implies that everyone on the left is “out to get him” or ruin the country. Odd.
Darla; I was not aware that Welsh
families brought up their children
to spell badly.
Darla; And yet the Obama staff has not
proven him wrong on anything.
They have been busy fact checking
Saturday Night Live.
Re: teriyaki, calling Obama out as he is and your ratings go up!
youtube.com/watch?v=lI77cU3jsFs (Obama anti-white audio via “Dreams of My Father”)
All these panty wetting libs are scared to death of Glen Beck, Olby probaly goes home and curls up in his closet crying every night b/c of getting his @ss whooped in the ratings. When GE wises up and fires Zucker, Olby=gone, _aggow=gone, it will happen sooner than later.
I actually have a JOB so I hardly ever get home before 6:00 PM. the only times I see Beck are on the Factor.
I don’t trust people who watch TV at 5:00 PM every day… what the hell do they do for a living?!?
Johnny,
If Beck didn’t bring attention APRON, who did?
NBC? No.
CBS? Uh-uh.
ABC? Fat chance.
CNN? Yeah, right.
MSNBC? Puhleeze.
So exactly how the hell did we find out about it?
Tony Dear,
You have heard of DVRs, haven’t you?
THE ENTIRE THREAD-
PLEASE DISREGARD SHARON… SHE EATS RETARD SAMICHES, AND BEATS THE SAME DEAD HORSE (MSNBC) EVERYDAY….YOUR JUST WASTING YOUR TIME TRYING TO EXPLAIN / ARGUE WITH HER….
The Welsh are rather famous for putting w’s, l’s, d’s and other letters into words at random and unexpected places for no apparent reason. I am quite proud of my heritage, regardless of spelling.
I will ask again: Do you ever break the ratings down into geographic regions? Is there any raw data available?
Glenn Beck is one of the most annoying people in the world. I’m not a liberal or a conservative, so its not picking sides. In fact Olbermann (sp?) is annoying too.
Tony; I believe that it is replayed
again at 11:00 Pacific 8:00 Eastern.
RJ; “He who plays in the middle of the
road gets hit by traffic going in both
directions”.
Darla; If they break down ratings
by region, I haven’t seen them.
Glenn’s ratings are going up so
fast, they are hard to quantify.
Nice characterization dangerous, good to see you’re taking after some of the Fox commentators. Keep at it, some day you’ll grow to be just like them. Bob-maybe we need to stop this whole, pick a side, good vs. evil, black hat white hat, eveyone who I don’t agree with is my enemy, us against them mentality of early melodrama and move forward. Instead of Beck (or any other commentator, journalist and newcaster for that metter) referring to members of the government as evil people who plan to destroy this country, maybe we should look forward and work towards actual progress, not look back and make empty accusations towards individuals just to get higher ratings and more money. Why not encourage people to do something contructive with this nation instead of dividing it?
Darla et al,
As far as I know, there is no available data broken down by region. The data I used to make this chart is simply a compilation of the numbers that are posted on this site daily (see data credit above). The guys who run this sight say they post all the data they get. If other breakdowns of the data exist, Nielsen must not release it.
Glen Beck tells the truth, he has asked the questions the “great” MSM were suppose to ask before the election but they didn’t, now we are finding out about the people that were elected and it is very scary. If he weren’t telling the truth they would have him off in a minute. But you see he got things moving when he told the truth about Van Jones and some of the other radicals in this administration!!
Danger, I agree. I stopped reading any post by Sharon because of her rantings which to me at times are quite racist. Johnny sound the same. They are all about hate. They are simple minded and single minded. Can’t argue with foolishness.
It is clear to me that nothing a politician promises commits them to do what they say. Just words. Trust Jesus
I just had to throw that in there. enjoy
WE watch Glenn every evening at 5:00. I start dinner at 4:30.
My husband retired early, and now he is self employed as a contractor for the us govt/department of defense. (he knows a lot of what is going on – and let me tell you, it is not pretty, lately)
So there are many who do work at home. My hubby has his own office and most of the time he is in there on phone conferences. He comes out every hour or so for a cheese stick or some peanuts. He sometimes takes a stroll around the house and looks out of the window to see if any of those errant dog walkers are not picking up the poops (lazy slobs)
This has been going on for three years now.
As a mother of adult daughters and a “housewife”and retired nurse… it has been quite an adjustment.
I took up ice dancing and wow it is just great fun to get out a couple days a week.
Anyway, yeah, we eat dinner and watch Mr. Beck.
btw: his show is repeated on the week-ends, Saturday and Sunday usually in the evenings
wow I just reread my previous comment and I sound like some kind of a hill billy.
I am not.
I live in northern virginia, nowhere near the hills.
There are many people that telework from home, especially here in No Va. The roads are too crowded, makes you nutty.
My hubby retired early from the DOD.
With all of this craziness in Congress and this administration doing all of this hoping and changing and rearranging…
well, we are gonna do okay.
Let me just warn everyone: it’s not over. hang on, the worst is yet to be.
Oh yeah I’m a total hate filled racist. Get real people.
Gosh I really tired of reading how Glenn Beck’s followers are a group of uneducated, toothless country bumpkins who listen to him spew hated. In fact, someone even commented they were amazed that we even know HOW to use the internet!! Get real!!
During Mr. Beck’s programs, I sit with pen in hand, writing down names/departments, etc. and research those topics after his show airs. To those who dispise Mr. Beck, I pose these questions to you: Why doesn’t the WH, DNC/RNC dispute his claims? Have you actually researched any of his claims? If so, you would find he speaks the truth. Can this be the reason his rating are through the roof? Does the average American actually have a brain that he/she chooses to use to be a critical thinker?
I think so. So put up or shut up!!! We are really sick of the pinko leftist name calling.
I just read that Obama plans to reverse don’t ask son’t tell. I’m curious to see what Becks repsonse will be on Monday. Could he possibly ask the president to reverse his decision? We’ll just ahve to tune in to find out.
Glenn Beck is a man who called a rival DJ’s wife who had just had a miscarriage in order to mock her live on his radio show. He’s scum.
Would any of you stoop to such an act? Would any of you respect a man who did that to your wife?
Corey3rd,
No, I would not respect a man who did did what you claim!
Prove it! Post a link to the audio … I won’t accept some link to a lefty gossip site who has no proof either.
Coda; Well said.
Corey3rd,
BTW, did you know that Kieth Olbermann likes to make fun of one of a rival host who has ADHD and a child with cerebral palsy? In fact he called him the Worst Person In The World!
You see, that rival host is Glenn Beck. Anyone can string together a list of unrelated truths and tell a pretty terrible, and misleading story. Get real!
Glenn Beck does not make fun of women having miscarriages.
I don’t recall Olbermann ever making fun of Beck for being disabled or for having a disabled child. I remember seeing Beck make fun of blind people once though.
Sharon,
That’s my point. Olbermann didn’t make fun of Beck for being disabled or for having a disabled child. Folks with an agenda string together half truths like I just did to slander Beck and others.
You sat Beck makes fun of blind people and mocks women having miscarriages now! Huh??? What the hell??? I need to pick up a copy of Glenn’s new book … ’cause I clearly am going to need it if I continue talking to you!
How is it you don’t like him, don’t watch him much, but you hear him say all these things. I watch him nearly every day and I have never seen or heard him make fun of blind people and/or mock women having miscarriages.
Wow … I really am at a loss for words??? You and Corey3rd need to seek help.
GLENN BECK IS A LOSER. NO ONE CARES ABOUT HIM OR HIS VIEWERS. LMFAO.
bill,
Very clever dissertation on the pros and cons of Glenn Beck, his roll in the media, and the effect his savvy followers have on the landscape of political discourse in our country. Keep up the good work! You are a fine representative for the Progressive Liberal Establishment.
How do people take Beck seriously. He is a former Zoo DJ, and is still just an entertainer, who says and does what he knows will bring himself attention. I don’t think he believes half the stuff he says because he seems way too smart for that. Sadly, people take him seriously and use his show to drum up hatred for the president and progressive causes.
BTW, the source for the miscarriage story was Brad Miller, the president of Open Stream Broadcasting. It seems pretty unlikely he’d make up that story.
Isn’t it amazing that when the American Public overwhelmingly chooses a clown like Glenn Beck they are stupid and hateful, yet when the American Public votes for a clown like Barack Obama, they are thoughtful and hopeful.
The irony is astounding.
Coda; David Brock of Media Matters is the
one that pieces together the half truths
every night for Olberdink to spew.
In a Soros, Immelt deal MSNBC more or
less turned the entire Olbermann, Maddow
and Schultz show over to Media Matters.
Immelt in return was appointed to the
Federal Reserve Bank of New York and to
Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board.
Here’s Beck making fun of the blind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0W-A801_Ws
By the way, why didn’t my fist comment go through?
Olbermann calls Beck on his bull, not his disabilities. That is why he gets the worst person card often.
Glen Beck fans are one per centers. One per centers have always been consider outlaws by the majority of US citizens. Each generation has its false prophets and its follower.
Sharon, more than 1 URL in a comment will always be blocked by the spam filter.
Thank you Bill.
Sharon,
I watched the video. He was ‘making fun’ of the stupid places that designers put braille. I myself had wondered why they place braille on a drivethrough ATM? I understand how it gets there … but it still seems silly at first. Glenn sarcastically comments about putting the word “HOT” in braille on something hot (a coffee pot). That would be similarly stupid! He is not making fun of blind people!
You proved my point. People like you who want to demonize him see a clip like this and then make the statement “I saw Glenn Beck making fun of blind people”. Huh? What a bunch of worthless crap!
Glenn may be a lot of things, but he is not someone who makes fun of blind people and women who have miscarriages. I say again … Get real! Thats just crazy talk!
P.S. I find it interesting that the entire segment in the video is about political correctness … hmmm?
you cant sit in rev wright church for 20 yrs and not hear wright speaking of whites in a racist way. speak the truth and it will set you free !
Jeez it didn’t take long to find “Media
Matters” in this supposed video of Beck
the coffee pot.
Good call Bob …
Nice statement Micheal. How about the time he mis-characterized Van Jones as being an ex-con, even though he isn’t. He was still making fun of trying to help a person with a disability and joked about getting them injured because it was too “P.C.” to put a brail sign on something. By doing that he was practically insulting there disability. Here’s Beck being a racist, at least a little bit of one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0tgvWxC_6A
Sharon,
Yep, I know the drill … I’m keeping track here. So far Beck:
1) Likes to mock women who have miscarriages
2) Likes to make fun of blind people
3) Is a racist
This debate always ends the same way … by you calling the most watched cable news network, and its viewers, a bunch of RACISTS.
“at least a little bit”
Again beautifully put Micheal.
OK here is a prediction. This time next
year the person that will be making these
same liberals who are going nuts about
Glenn, they will be absolutely skitzoid
about John Stossel because once John has
lifted the constraints of ABC’s political
correctness his research will curl the
wall paper on Soros’ office walls.
John is a World Class researcher and
he is not as nice as Glenn when reporting
on it. He will flat get in your face.
The marxists will not know what hit
them especially if they stay transfixed
on Glenn. So libs “Rules for Radicals”
says to destroy one who is likely to hurt
you so bring your lunch and get an early
start.
Beck is #1. Go cracker nation, go.
Glenn Beck, for people who can’t think for themselves.
Michael,
Go take your meds and go to bed. Maybe you’ll feel better in the morning. This is a forum is here to discuss TV ratings … and in particular, this thread is for the Glenn Beck and the charts above.
I’m not sure what set off your anti-Republican tirade … but it seems you have some issues to deal with.
Just for the record, If your looking for me to be an apologist for Bush or the republican party, you’re barking up the wrong tree.
For the record, I still don’t think GB likes to spend his free time attending KKK rallies, mocking women who have miscarriages or making fun of the disabled.
Have you and Sharon noticed that when you start hurling insults and calling folks names, they tend to shut down and stop listening? You might consider being a little more tolerant of others and stick to the issues. You are all about tolerance … aren’t you?
There is much deep seeded hatred in this country that has boiled over in the last year and yet I feel, unfortunatley, that there is still more to come. Like I said before we need to stop dividing this country and stop smearing people who we deem as “enemies.” We need to stop viewing things as black and white as a John Wayne westerner. We live in the 21st century. I’ll admit I get heated when debating these things, but I strongly feel that Beck has done this country a disservice by going after members of the administration for things in there past that hardly have that much merit, or for things they haven’t even done. What Beck does should never be viewed as accountability when he would hardly ever call out the right on there actions. At the same time though, I realize that Fox is a business, and like what Limbaugh said in a recent interview, it is all about ratings or money. This is a loyal audience that will continue to watch and contribute to there disgusting fortune. I can safley say that I never contributed to the levels in which the pundits followers have.
I do like to discuss the ratings and what is behind them.
There are plenty of sites where you can go talk politics, religion and insult everyone to heart’s delight.
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/10/08/cable-news-ratings-commenting/29925
She started it …
I’m kidding. Guilty as charged. I just hate that we can’t stay even close to on topic and keep it at least semi-civil. I don’t think it possible?
I’m going to take my meds and go to bed. Yeah, you can add hypocrisy to the list …
Night
Coda, good night.
Anyone else notice how the Glenn Beck’s curve above looks just like the famous “Hockey Stick” plot that the global warming folks always cite when discussing global temperature? The only difference is that it’s Glenn’s ratings, instead of world temperatures, that are going through the roof.
Just struck me as kind of funny/ironic

Wow, somebody’s heavy on the delete post key this morning. At least for the pro-Beck posters anyway. Did someone make Sharon a mod? lol
Glenn Becks ratings will continue to grow as more Americans wake up to the fact we’re being screwed by our government.
“Glenn Beck does not make fun of women having miscarriages.”
Coda, the incident of Beck calling the woman after her miscarriage is well documented. Look it up.
“BTW, did you know that Kieth Olbermann likes to make fun of one of a rival host who has ADHD and a child with cerebral palsy? In fact he called him the Worst Person In The World!”
According to Brad Miller “Beck proceeded to joke about how Bruce [Kelly] apparently can’t do anything right — about he can’t even have a baby.”
Maybe after you call up a woman for making fun of the fact that her baby died, Glenn Beck became a victim of Karma – as they’d say on My Name Is Earl. Maybe Glenn Beck was shown hat he couldn’t do anything right, either when it comes to having a baby.
Beck is scum. And no matter how many viewers he has, he’s scum. This is a country that has no problem “forgiving” Kobe Bryant after what he did to that girl in a hotel room.
People in America have become stupid to the nth degree. Watch Talk Soup this weekend to see the woman who called her “monkey psychic” to find out what pills her pet monkey had taken instead of visiting a vet to check the monkey.
WOW Steve Wynn speaks the truth and is
not intimidated. We need to see more of
him.
Gotta Love the Libs
Like any 15 year old, they think the World’s History began with them.
Before Obama, according to them, Presidents never had any opposition.
Whether it be by critics, muckrackers or humorists, supposedly, according to them, none of these people existed before Clinton and Obama came along?
Talk about clueless.
Study a little History. Go back and read the things said to and about our founding fathers, and every other political leader since.
This great partisan divide has always been with us, for centuries.
Only now, according to Liberals, has the opposition risen to such obscene heights?
The fact of the matter is, Clinton and Obama are perhaps, the most thin skinned Poltical leaders, the World has ever seen, and their supporters as well.
They and their supporters just cannot stand for any criticism of their guy.
Grow up! Politics, as Mitt Romney said, is a blood sport. (Yea yea, figuratively speaking, of course)
Seriously, were you libs asleep the last 8 years? The daily attacks on Bush, never, ever, let up.
But unlike Liberal Pansies, he never let it bother him. He was a man about it. He knew it came with the territory.
Take the shoe throwing incident.
He calmly ducked for shoe #1 and then, shoe #2. Both missed. And then he finished his speech.
You can tell he played Dodge Ball.
Many great life lessons are to be learned in dodge ball.
Yet another casualty of Liberal Public Schools.
And the coolness of a fighter pilot was evident throughout his Presidency.
He made plenty of mistakes, to be sure, big ones. But, he never whined about his critics. Neither did Reagan.
Obama catches a fly, (which only lives 15 days and then gets slower with age), and he is deemed All World for his action. Who hasn’t caught flies in their hands? Big Deal.
He rolls gutter balls, and can’t throw a strike over the plate, while Bush in fact, did.
We all know who is a real man and who is the girly man.
Rush predicted last fall, that if Obama were elected, the race card would be played the second Barry received his first criticism.
The cries of Hate, Racism, etc. is getting so old.
Grow up libs, get in the game and do battle. It’s the way it has always been.
Make your points and counter points with specificity, and join the debate.
Your fifth grade mentality of name calling, instead of addressing the issues, is so predictable. None of you libs could pass a tenth grade debate class.
Deep down you all know that Obama should be embarrassed to have received the Nobel Prize. And yet, is it not so emblamatic of Liberalism in general?
That is, rewarding lack of achievement and then punishing the achievers. Sounds like a famous economist of the 19th century to me.
bluto
Bluto; Good post.
To understand the left all one has
to study is Saul Alinsky.
Allan Charles: you could not be ever more wrong.
You perceive the right is mad, disappointed, whatever, you are completely misguided by your imagination. Good luck with that
It is not only the “right wing” listening to Fox news and Glenn Beck.
There are a WHOLE LOT more than that, probably more non affiliated party types that are concerned, and validly so, about what is going on and the motive of this administration.
The Shows viewing #s are growing not because they are loonies, but becuase we are not getting details on issues that are important, something that IS indeed going to effect all of us, ALL OF US, in the end
Government programs are all just fine and dandy, but so far we do not get to read the details, and we are learning that is is not our business to know, or who is implementing or devising these programs for that matter.
You should be concerned too.
have a nice day
Beck makes no bones about the fact that he was once the worlds biggest dirtbag. A drunk, a jerk and an overall miserable soul.
And now he has changed and been redeemed. So now, what’s your point?
Now, as any good prosecutor would say, “your point is irrelevent”,
Now address the issues at hand!
Beck is shedding light on the corruption of this administration and the debt Obama is imposing on future generations, and you’re hung up with what he did 10 or 15 years ago?
If I borrowed money against you and your children, what would you do?
Well, that’s precisely what Obama is doing. He is literally placing a financial burden on future generations.
Well buddy, most Americans have a problem with that, and so should you!
Beck deals in the present tense, do you?
aj
Looks like the DELETE key was working overtime this morning!
Either take the “fuzziness” out of the lines you’re drawing, leave things the way they are, or shut down the comment sections PERIOD!
Because as I see it above, you’re still leaving stuff in that appears to only suit your opinions! Because there are still posts above (as you have put it in your guidline) that have no relevence to the subject matter! It’s STILL political, and only a select few have been censored!
As I have said elsewhere, no matter how hard you try, in regards to the media as it is TODAY, it will ALWAYS end up in a politcal debate since the media has sought fit to choose sides not too long ago in our past!
Regardless of what your personal feelings are in relation to the subject matter, I would think that you would welcome the added attention your site gets. EVERYONE KNOWS it’s NOT a political views site, but we come and enjoy the rivalry AS WELL as the rest of what this site has to offer. It’s merely exchanges being made in print from the safety and comfort of ones home or workplace. People tend to be more BOLD in that kind of setting since they remain annyonomous. Would you rather have us dook it out on the streets instead?
Just my humble opinion is all. Sorry for my rant! It’s just that I have come to enjoy my daily visits and reviews of the BS being spewed here by a select few. I didn’t see you guys YET delete just half of Sharon’s vomit here! One of the biggest abusers of YOUR guidline!
MikeB WTG all true.
To Allen Charles; You just couldn’t
help yourself could you. When ever
the left can’t find a good point of
debate in their heads, they either
pull out the race card and call you
a bigot or they roll out Hitler.
Truly sad.
Ok I finally figured it out. Liberals
are attacking Glenn Beck [GB] because
they have run out of ways to blame
everything on George Bush [GB] and
they didn’t want to change the towels.
What happened to global warming?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8299079.stm
I Love Glenn Beck. He has and will continue to do great things. If you don’t like him, then don’t watch or listen to him.
I don’t like Obama, so I don’t listen to him. If he is ever on TV or on a news program, I just flip the channel and watch something worth watching. I am sorry that he is considered the president until, of course, he can no longer hide the truth about himself. He is a Joke.
Denise: my sentiments exactly.
I love Glenn Beck’s show, I love Fox News.
The advertisers that have left Fox have made a huge mistake because, many are now boycotting them right back!
here is a list of some of the advertisers that have boycotted
the Beck Show:
Do you know of others?
CVS drug store – i never did shop there
Best Buy – not anymore
Walmart – we have 2 here, stopped going to them
GMAC – government motors, no thanks
rebath- nope forget them
Broadview – nope we just got ADT
ConAgra, GEICO, Lawyers.com, Men’s Wearhouse, Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance – this company is owned by George Soros RadioShack – nope
Roche, – not me
SC Johnson, – not anymore
Sanofi-Aventis – told my friends to boycott them as well
Sargento – no big loss for me
and State Farm Insurance – we had an offer from them but stayed with our old company
Beck simply reports on the TRUTH…. something the liberals are cluless about
Rosie; Fox news did not lose those
advertisers they just moved them to
different shows. It all goes into one
pot anyway so Fox has not lost a cent.
For those who refuse to see the TRUTH about Obama…….be careful what you wished for!! Glen, and the rest of FOX and talk radio are presenting FACTS! The “regular media” is SO blinded by his HALONESS, they wouldn’t know the truth if it was smacked in their faces!! Good luck to those in your Socialist country; but WE the PEOPLE want our country back….GO USA!!! GO GLEN! GO FREEDOM!!
I think as more and more people start hearing about the questions about Glenn Beck and the rape and murder of a young girl in 1990 that more and more people will tune away from him.
We need to get to the bottom of whether or not Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990; let’s see whatever evidence there is for and against the issue of whether or not Glenn Beck is guilty of raping and murdering a young girl in 1990.
And I think it’s better to err on the side of caution in the meantime. If anyone has proof to exonerate Beck, let’s see it.
I’m not saying Beck actually did commit such a horrendous crime, but people are asking questions.
I heard that it was Deacon E.L. Mouse
who committed that rape and murder and
if you can’t prove otherwise then
you are guilty.
Bob says:
“To understand the left all one has to study is Saul Alinsky.”
This is one of the weirdest claims I’ve ever heard. Quick: When was the last time anyone had heard of (the notorious, uppity–yet, sadly, not “pinko”–Jew) Saul Alinsky before this latest cracker clusterfuck got rolling?
I’ve had a reference copy of “Rules for Radicals” for a quarter-century. It’s right up there with Leo Buscaglia’s epochal, PBS-originated “Love” as far as anachronistic baubles go. One might think that if people wanted to *really* freak out, they’d have noticed that the Wobblies are trying to unionize pizza delivery drivers. And I can assure y’all that the I.W.W. isn’t going to be pussyfooting around like Alinsky when push comes to shove.
There is this, Bob:
http://unreasonablysafe.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/untitled1.jpg
TRUTH TO POWER is what Glenn Beck is all about. The shoe’s on the other foot and you can’t stand it. How many people called Bush a racist, why you said nothing? People like “teriyaki” hear something against their Hero and get all bent out of shape and WHINE, instead of disproving his point.
The FACT is that it was Obama who first brought up HIS race in the campaign and made it an issue. (The I don’t look like presidents on money comment). I was waiting to see who would be first, and Obama was it. Everything is about race with Obama; actually, he’s a RACIALIST. However, no one has shown me how he is NOT a racist. He’s done a lot of pro-black stuff, but nothing pro-caucasian.
Rosie,
First you are not a WHITE MALE so, you can not know the disappointment experienced when a man can not provide for his family. It is ANGER and disappointment. You see, I am one of the white males that was pushed out of the workforce as far as getting employment opportunities because of being the last one considered .in hiring.
I am registered outside of the two party system and have voted third-party for most of my life
The right does express their anger stronger than others. Persons of FAITH are generally driven by the belief their FAITH, even when they get confused and make their political belief a part of their FAITH. These are REAL forces in folks lives and Beck has found the key to drawing a crowd and take advantage of the turmoil in many of his viewer’s lives. The problem with mixing FAITH with politics is what happened during 9/11/01 being caused by a sincere but deceived belief of actions within their FAITH. The sincere anger is absolutely the same but folks in our country bring change using elections, but not always. The abortion doctor’s murder not fifty miles from my home a few years ago was the misguided but sincere desire of a believer to DO SOMETHING about abortion. Being a Pro-life believer I understand the killer’s state of mind or at least his belief, but his actions were still wrong and not part of his or my FAITH.
I was very upset in 2000 when I began to realize Bush\Cheney was going burst the budget with their tax code changes dishonoring WORK and making capitol gains to be taxed at a lower rate than the earnings of working class and middle class folks. The wealthy on Wall Street were allowed to go wild while the jobs for everyone were put in at risk with their so called FREE TRADE. Bush had not been office a year before the deficits had returned and from there became the largest in HISTORY. Now Obama comes along and his first budget which a large part of it being put in place by Bush,.adding the pet projects the Democrats added and the economic future of us all is looking rather bleak. There again, Beck is using the ANGER and DISAPPOINTMENT along with some absolutely expected fear to keep his audience.
Marilynn says:
“People like ‘teriyaki’ hear something against their Hero and get all bent out of shape and WHINE, instead of disproving his point.
“However, no one has shown me how he is NOT a racist. He’s done a lot of pro-black stuff, but nothing pro-caucasian.”
Honey, stormfront.org is down the hall and around the corner.
don’t know why I bother, but the bogus rape claim is just that — bogus. Only reason I’m commenting the rediculous fake police report. Funny how the address is the same address as the Duke Lacrosse players’ house. Several really strange things on this report. Anyway, it was done as a parody although not a funny one. Glenn Beck should sue someone over this. He’s probably never been in Durham NC

Obama was also able to use the same ability Beck uses and yes Hitler used to get attention and draw very crowds and millions of votes, enough to get him elected. I do not vote for Obama so attacking me using the standard attack used by the far right calling me a liberal is not accurate.
My comments that Beck says what his audience wants to hear is proven by these attacks against my opinions. You do not want to hear anything except your political talking points, admit it? Beck is very smart in his using your FEAR and ANGER to get wealthy selling you his shows, books and other products. Good capitalist, and nothing wrong in him doing it, but he IS doing it and his ratings prove my point.
Boris and Allen in this Obama climate
everyone who does not agree with Soros
or Obama is a racist. It has now been
used so often that it means nothing.
As for that Police Report
1. Glenn did not live in Durham NC in
1980.
2. A brief review shows that there are
more than 90,000 Glenn Becks living
in the US.
3. A police report is evidence of nothing. There are approximately
1 Million more Police reports in the
US every year than charges brought.
4. Any reading of the Constitution will
show innocence attaches until there is
a conviction on anything.
5. Allen is so stupid he said rape and
murder when it was larceny and rape.
Don’t waste my time. If there were any
truth to this, Soros would have published
it many months ago.
Bob says:
“5. Allen is so stupid he said rape and murder when it was larceny and rape.”
This is a separate case from the still-unaddressed rape and murder. Such types do tend to be serial offenders.
Bob says:
“1. Glenn did not live in Durham NC in 1980.”
And to move around in search of their prey, of course.
Come on, people. get real.
http://urbanlegends.about.com/b/2009/09/03/internet-hoax-says-glenn-beck-raped-murdered-young-girl-in-1990.htm
Why not try an honest debate over why Beck is drawing so many viewers, USING FACTUAL INFORMATION, instead of name-calling from the left and repudiation of same from the right. You might just learn something and be inspired to help keep our leaders on the right path.
Blaffie says:
“Why not try an honest debate over why Beck is drawing so many viewers, USING FACTUAL INFORMATION”
OK, you start.
“This is a separate case from the still-unaddressed rape and murder. Such types do tend to be serial offenders.” WHAT???
You are definitely a danger to society.
Durham NC is where Duke Univ. is located.
We all know there are many bogus police
reports that come out of there.
Even if everything you say is true and
there is a zero chance of that, there
is another little thing in the Constitution called the Statute of
Limitations that would stop anything.
By the way Glenn was a theology student at Yale at the time.
Guys, as usual, people who THINK and VOTE at the same time, tend to listen to Talk Radio and listen to the news, not just turn it off for the music instead.
But if you think this is about racism, if you think he’s a hater, he’s crazy, or there’s any number of things wrong with him, ask yourself why you feel that way? You’ve never watched the show.
If you did, you’d see how painstakingly clear he is about the issues. How he’s not racist. How he wants America to be better, and how Obama (and to a larger part, Congress) is kicking the crap out of what made us great.
Ask yourself why you think Rush Limbaugh is fat. Why you think both of these guys are racist. It won’t be because you watched, though CLEARLY many are. That’s not a fluke.
@Boris:
Glad to. The news media has shown how Americans are responding to their need for information and details from their representatives. It has shown their concern over the way our leaders are responding to the crises before us. Many are highly dissatisfied as evidenced by the polls presented and by their comments and questions displayed in various forums such as town hall meetings.
Based on this, and the current trend in viewership so well presented in the data above, I would conclude that Americans are looking to sources that will give them some answers to why events are occurring the way they are. Beck obviously does that, as evidenced by his bringing to the surface such influences as ACORN, Van Jones, et al.
The numbers speak for themselves. CNN and MSNBC are going down and FNC is going up. Its not racism, its not hate, its not fear mongering. Its that people want to hear what FNC is reporting and talking about. You can’t deny or argue that point.
Anyways I was watching CNN last night *GASP* (yes its true). They were running a specil on Jim Jones. But several times they ran a commercial claiming they were number one in several different things including viewers. Do they really think that or are they spinning it somehow?
Also one commercial they ran implied that there were or are going to hold our govenment accountable or something along those lines. I forget the exact wording.
I don’t watch much CNN anybody want to explain these points?
Charlie; Just wait until John Stossel
gets cookin and Glenn gets the Moms
organized. The ratings will double
again.
Blaffie says:

You haven’t presented any data at all.
Boris, Blaffie presented much more than you did. Look at Rasmussen Polls, or this website if you need cold data.
Bob says:
“Even if everything you say is true and there is a zero chance of that, there is another little thing in the Constitution called the Statute of
Limitations that would stop anything.”
There’s no “statute” of limitations in the Constitution. And no state has such a limitation regarding first-degree murder. To the extent a statute of limitations is in play, it would merely prevent him from being charged with a lesser crime, such as would be the case if he had raped but *accidentally* killed someone–the charge would have to be first-degree murder.
“By the way Glenn was a theology student at Yale at the time.”
I think we all know what that suggests.
Some people are really getting their panties so tied up in knots over Beck’s recent success, they’ve resorted to smear campaigns to “fight tooth for a tooth” or whatever the actual excuse is. Imagine what they would do if Beck’s viewers were “educated” and “unlike those of Jerry Springer’s show”. They surely pay a lot of attention to folks they regard as insignificant.
Er, next time, at least validate addresses in your “documents”.
Charlie says:
“Boris, Blaffie presented much more than you did. Look at Rasmussen Polls, or this website if you need cold data.”
The data are that Beck’s ratings have sharply trended up since the beginning of September. This statement is a data-free assertion, analogous to such profound utterances as “yum-yum” or “ooky”:
“The news media has shown how Americans are responding to their need for information and details from their representatives. It has shown their concern over the way our leaders are responding to the crises before us. Many are highly dissatisfied as evidenced by the polls presented and by their comments and questions displayed in various forums such as town hall meetings.”
No that statement/opinion was made after analyzing “data” and then forming a reasonable logical thought or statement on it.
You’ve made 2 or 3 posts after telling Blaffie to provide some data with nothing other than saying Blaffie is wrong.
I guess because if you look at the “data” Blaffie is right.
Hey Boris; Who is talking about murder??
What evidence do you have of that??? I
was talking of the larceny, rape police
report.
What is a statute of limitations? It is the time limit the law puts on police and prosecutors to lay charges in a crime. The statute of limitations was put in place in order to ensure that people are swiftly brought to justice by police and to allow people to move on with their lives without fear of past deeds coming back to get them after they have reformed themselves. Murder and treason are the only crimes that do not have a time limit and many people think this is unfair to victims. Victims rights groups point out that victims live with the effects of the crime for their entire lives and that in the interest of justice criminals should have to do the same. However, as things stand now every crime has a statute of limitations attached.
Boris is there no limit to your treachery?
I have to ask, what corruption has Beck really dug up? Why does he bring up ACORN as though Obama directly influenced the corruption that it’s had? Has he at all mentioned that Obama has asked for an invesitigation into there actions? Why does he bring up Kevin Jennings past when there was nothing illegal done, really alls he tried to do was help someone in need, and when it was already mentioned during his hearings for his position. As for Jenning drug-use, Beck was an alcoholic who has since gotten sober and use his past experiences to his advantage, as has Jennings. What is Beck holding accountable?
Charlie says:
“No that statement/opinion was made after analyzing ‘data’ and then forming a reasonable logical thought or statement on it.
“You’ve made 2 or 3 posts after telling Blaffie to provide some data with nothing other than saying Blaffie is wrong.”
No, in fact I’ve made one such post. Blaffie’s original point was this: “Why not try an honest debate over why Beck is drawing so many viewers, USING FACTUAL INFORMATION.”
In his lone follow-up, the FACTUAL INFORMATION was a gob of wholly unsubstantiated sense-impressions about the contents of “Americans” heads and “concerns” and “dissatifaction” as “evidenced” by undocumented polls and “their” comments in “various forums such as town hall meetings.” This isn’t “FACTUAL INFORMATION,” it’s a payload of conclusions delivered in lieu of the promised ratings analysis.
Bob says:
“Boris is there no limit to your treachery?”
Show me a state law that limits prosecution for first-degree murder. As to the question, let me share something: On the 4th of July, I fly a 48-star flag, and the only people that will dry-clean it for me are Koreans.
Boris; Did you not see this in my post
Murder and treason are the only crimes that do not have a time limit and many people think this is unfair to victims.
My point is you presented me with a
Police report that talked of larceny
and rape, then you worked in murder
with no supporting evidence. What
game are you playing.
I am a pretty good trial lawyer and I
have no idea what you are saying about
a 48 star flag and Koreans.
I LOVE reading these responses. I wish I had time to read more, but I am just one of those old farts so many on here want to impune. I am so old that I have a company to run, payroll to make, and a life to lead. I’m so old that I have paid millions and millions in taxes over the course of my career, hired hundreds of people personally, made decisions that affected thousands of employees and millions of customers. But what do I know?
I know that anyone older than you is smarter than you. Do you doubt me? Do you really think you are smarter than someone older than you? Take my test and you will see I am right.
You are smarted than you were a year ago. That is what experience does to a person. Unless you want to postulate the theory that you are a dumber version of yourself than existed a year, decade or quarter century ago (assuming you are old enough to have 25 years of experience) you have to admit that people older than you are smarter than you.
Okay, I will take this one step further. Assume I am only hald as smart as you. (I know, you already assumed that.) Even if I am only half as smart as you, I have been on the planet quite a few more years than you – if you are under 40. Even if I am only half as smart as you, I have learned a great deal in the decades of additional experience that I have.
And let me offer that Glenn Beck is smart. He doesn’t claim to be a genius. To the contrary, he claims to be human and fallible. He asks people to point out where he is wrong. That is part of his brilliance. If you think you are so smart, get up on the dias and challenge him. Many people, including me, are only seeking the truth. But to call him names doesn’t diminish him. It does diminish you.
My favorite rant on here is from James. On 10-10-09 at 11:28 James says: “Glenn Beck is awful. He’s a mascot for nutcases who just want to shut their ears, close their eyes, and be fed “the truth” by someone with zero credentials and a shady drug-filled past. Yeah, way to go.”
The irony is that is not too far from what my opinion is of Obama. And I had a LOT of hope for him, just as I have for every president. And I even served in the military under Jimmy Carter. I met president Ford. And for the record, Nixon was as scary as most presidents because of his paranoia, but Johnson probably had the biggest ego of any president I can remember. (Imagine being in a meeting with a president of the US while he sat on the crapper!)
So you neophytes who think you know it all need to look in the mirror and ask yourself if maybe those older than you may have something to share. Recognize that even you will be a smarter version of yourself in twenty or thirty years. But we’re already there, so pay attention and show some respect.
Boris, another post where you haven’t said or presented any argument at all.
America likes what Beck and FNC has to offer. Polls like Rasmussen shows the same thing. Other cable news ratings are going down, Beck and FNC are going up.
I suspect you have no real side to present to this debate because there are no “facts” stating otherwise.
48 was the number of states the country had until 1959/1960 when the U.S. added Alaska and Hawaii as states.
TONY-
You dont trust people who can watch beck at 5 pm. (no jobs)..I watch him at 5, I just retired (army / 22 yrs) Im 40 yrs old .. I watch him at 5 .. GO BECK !!
There are polls which so Republicans approval ratings in the single digits in youngest demographics and well below the democrats overall
http://www.dailykos.com/weeklypoll/2009/10/1
Re:48
Sharon; Thanks for that history lesson,
I am sure that none of us were aware
of that fact.
You said you didn’t get the reference so I figured I would help
Charlie says:
“Boris, another post where you haven’t said or presented any argument at all.”
I have presented the argument that the argument promised by Raffie didn’t materialize, in the same sense that “America likes what Beck and FNC has to offer” is a slogan, rather than an analysis.
I find the title of Glenns to book to be strangley ironic at this point.
Sharon, what does polls showing crappy approval ratings have to do with anything? Beck isn’t about one party or the other.
Boris, I’ve scanned your posts halfway back up this page and haven’t found your presented argument explaing why Beck’s numbers haven’t gone up.
I did find the post where you said to Blaffie: “Ok you start.”
Then there is no argument presented by you other than dismissing Blaffie’s and mine’s statements. I can only assume because the numbers are undebateable, they are as hard and stone cold as a fact can get. People want to here what FNC and Beck are presenting.
See what happens when you tell the truth that all of the others refuse to tell? I love Glenn Beck.
http://www.campaignforliberty.com
@Boris:
“FACTUAL INFORMATION” is comprised of far more than data. It appears that you are having some difficulty recognizing facts when you see them. It also appears that for some reason beyond my understanding you feel compelled to prove Beck is a murderer and rapist, even though this has been debunked as an internet hoax. I feel silly for even repeating this claim.
Thanks, Charlie, for carrying on in my absence.
As a mom……If you don’t understand something you ask questions, atleast that was what I taught my children. If we don’t understand something how else do we find the answer. It seems to me thats what Glen Beck does. So far, many of the questions he has asked have not been answered. When has it ever been wrong to question our government and the motives of the elected officials? We should be grateful that he has a forum to raise the concerns that many americans should have. I am amazed at the anger and vile comments from people that don’t like what he asks, after all they are simply questions. It seems easy to me. If there is nothing to hide why don’t these people simply come forward and answer. If there is nothing to the concerns he has brought forward, then it should be easily cleared up.
I watch Glen Beck whenever I can. I think he is great.
Did I see where someone said Beck’s numbers have only been going up since September? Look again, they have been going up since mid May when they were at their low (just like all of the other networks were at their yearly low). It looks like his ratings really took off in August around the time of the summer congressional break, the town meetings, Van Jones, ACORN story, etc. Also, it looks like a small number of Becks new viewers might have come at the expense of the other networks, but most are ‘new’ to 5pm cable news scene.
Jessi; Anytime you start a sentence with
“As a Mom” you win.
Keep it up.!!!! you have the World’s
most important job.
Love him or hate him, how can even the biggest critic or skeptic deny Beck’s message? That is unless one would want to remain blind.
So why doesn’t Beck report on the other parties corruption as much as he does for the current administration? Especially if he does not represent one party. The polls show that fewer people are in favor of the republicans right now. What reason could it be for? Maybe the way that Beck, Limbaugh and company have presented the republicans. The behavior of republicans like Michael Steele. Or is it that any numbers that depict the right in a negative light are all fixed and that you can only trust one source for information? Bob-If I started my sentence off with as a mother and then followed it with I don’t want my children to listen to or watch Glenn Beck because he called our president a racist and shouted at a woman over a phone, would that get me an automatic “win” as well?
Naw that will only make you grow old
with no friends. Wait Brock and Soros
will give you a smile but since they
don’t have any friends either, no
help.
Hm, is just cause I said that I didn’t feel comfortable with my children watching Beck?
Over the last few weeks, Beck has been focusing his show almost exclusively on government corruption. In the last Rasmussen poll that asked which issue is most important to Americans, corruption placed FIRST above even the economy which has held that place for over two years.
Most have conceded that in the past, political commentators have had little effect on the outcome of elections. However, the October 4th Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 43% of the American public would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate while 39% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent. Until recently, the Democrats were ahead.
I can’t say which is the cause and which is the effect. Is Glenn causing these polls to change, or is he just jumping on the bandwagon and taking advantage of all the public outrage? I don’t know … but these sure are interesting times! My 2 cents.
Link to the referenced polls:
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics
Well for starters Beck can’t cover everything. Next the republicans aren’t in charge either. Also the republicans aren’t pushing radical changes on the country.
Please show me how or where Beck presents the Republican party in anyway. He doesn’t go on the air saying they are right and the liberals are wrong. You don’t watch Sharon, it amazes me how you can pretend you do.
Sharon ; I can’t tell you what I think
of Obama, the blog police keep deleting
me. Funny how that only happens on right
leaning posts.
Let’s see how this one works!!!
The blog police are racist!!
As Mark Levin says “Yes there I
said it”
Bob, let’s see how this works. Goodbye.
“What About Bob?”
The right and its members wanting to teach religion in schools and seperate themselves from the U.S. and demanding that people attempt suicide in protest and denying that the president is an American citizen isn’t radical or at least extreme in any way? I can kind of understand the whole Van Jones bit, granted there was more to the man then communist beliefs (which there are many forms of) that he held during his youth, but Kevin Jennings? Really? Is it simply because he’s gay and wants to teach about tolerance of gay lifestyles in schools, or that he was counseling a young man during a difficult time. Does the right wing, and FNC really want to draw out a very private and personal matter for the sake of ratings? But then again you’re right, Beck may not be aligned with conservatism, like what Mr. Graham said, Beck isn’t aligned a party he’s aligned with cynicism. And that seems to be about it. Whether or not the right is or isn’t in power, they are still are leaders and if Beck is going hold the government accountable then he should all members of congress not just one party.
For the record … I saw a lot of very ‘left’ leaning posts deleted last night. I think it’s a pretty simple rule … tie your post to Glenn Beck and/or cable news somehow and you won’t have to worry. Anything else is in danger of being deleted at the discretion of the folks who run the site.
Exactly Dave
Bill,
I apologize if I’m out of line speaking for your commenting policy. I do support your right to keep the discussion on topic and I much prefer the current policy to turning comments off … I know it distracts from your heavy workload keeping up this site.
Beck is asking questions. Lots of questions. Questions that aren’t being answered by the current administration because they know answering them honestly will uncover their true agenda and what they are trying to do to the country. That’s a fact.
Since so many Americans are waking up to this fact, Becks ratings are soaring.
Thank you dj, you just brought everyone back to the McCarthy era with Beck likley thinking of himself as “Murrow.” You wanna go a step further and demand that Pelosi be burned alive because she might be a witch.
Sharon,
I knew I shouldn’t have directed you to the Rasmussen site
Yeah, the data is mixed … I think the trend is going Beck’s way though.
You tell your story with the polls; I’ll tell mine. I like mine better though; and it fits better with the charts above.
At least people are going and looking at the facts. It beats pointless name calling any day.
Clearly they’re not affraid of him, I don’t think they’ve responded to him because they likley have bigger issues at hand then what some commentator is “reporting.” Dave-True, going for facts does beat insults. Thankfully there are people who actually report the truth in this country without having to pander to an audience all to improve there nielsen averages.
There ia no arguing that viewers are gravitating to Beck. That is not what irritates the left. What sticks in the craw of those in opposition to his methods is the effectiveness of his inquiries. Mushrooms do not grow well in the light of day.
At least Beck doesn’t pretend to be a reporter. Again, he reports facts he’s uncovered, offers his opinion, and asks questions. Yet, on MSNBC they PRETEND to be unbiased reporters and some poor people don’t know the difference and swallow the rhetoric. I’ve found the ONLY place to get non-liberal, socialist news is fox. All the rest of the news agencies (especially newspapers)report the same tilted view. Remember NOT reporting something is just as bad as lying to America. It takes two teens to uncover ACORN??? And we all KNOW there is SO much more to the lies, corruption, and influence of this organization but NO other news agency finds this important? Really? Tax dollars being stolen, voter fraud, a presidents intimate relationship with this organization….and NOTHING???!!! There are ton more examples but very little space to mention them all. But you KNOW if it was Bush (or a republican) in a similar situation it would be (and always is) top story, front page news for months, if not years. You all know this is true.
sidenote : “poor people” in previous post was not a reference to financially poor people.
Glenn Beck is opening our eyes to the real Washington, which all three houses are controlled by Democrats. Yes, they really are screwing up our country! Next thing they will be building a large metal statue of Obama in Washington in the stance of Stalin.
@dj109:
I don’t believe an unwillingness to lie will stop the opposition. However, I believe Beck will be targeted under the radar by proxy. Remember the Alinsky rule: “pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”
In my opinion, the discrediting effort is already underway. Problem is, Beck’s approach makes that effort difficult. He has laid his personal shortcomings on the table and cast himself in the role of one who asks questions while others answer.
Sharon,
ALL the political commentators are pandering to an audience for ratings. They are ALL biased and their job is to make money for their network. FOX either does it better, people like the message better, or both. Either way, you can’t argue with the results.
I’ve heard folks try to make the argument that MSNBC’s numbers are low because they don’t care about ratings so they tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Right!
Example of mainstream media BS…..Larry King has “the democratic women of the senate” promoting “healthcare reform”…..1st, having only one side of any issue is wrong, 2nd pandering to the womens voters as more women tend to be liberal AND hitting them on the “us vs. them” front. 3rd, We ALL want healthcare reform….period. Liberals have no problem identifying a problem, they are great at it. The problem (or debate) is not healthcare reform….its this administration SOLUTION to this problem that most people have a problem with. We DO NOT want a government run system or a system based on higher taxes, or any sort of government involvement. We KNOW they want a socialist government installed as they meddle in our banks, automotive industry, properties, and trying to intrude into our healthcare. Why dont they just come out and say “we want to install a socialist style government”???…..answer…..because 75-80% of America will scream NO!!! Come up with a practical solution and the masses will follow.
From MikeB
“Actually I read today that he was being considered (through Vatican sources) for Sainthood”
You might want to attach a disclaimer to this statement, like “only kidding”. Some here might believe it. (Although I did hear one late night network pundit state that they were considering revising the criterion to “potential to perform 3 miracles”.)
Enough. Good night all.
Blaffie says:
“‘FACTUAL INFORMATION’ is comprised of far more than data.”
I suppose I’m just a girl who can’t say no…. Of course, nothing is ever “comprised of” anything, but taking the common solecism as granted, what you seem to be saying is that FACTUAL INFORMATION is “made” of FAR MORE than DATA.
A careful initial analysis of this explicitly non-data-based “informational stuff” would of course first ask what it’s made of. Surely it’s not made of deductive reasoning, which is “made of” data. Is the STUFF made of (better, does it “comprise”) inductive reasoning? Surely not in the formally provable sense, in which case it would again be “made of data.”
Is it “horse sense”? Revealed wisdom? Restoration of cosmic balance?
Is this New Epistemology really *necessary* to account for a swing of 500,000 viewers? Is the putative uncovering of a hitherto disguised “group mind” and branding thereof as “what America likes” *sufficient* to account for anything? Why wouldn’t this underlying, arational yet “true American” reptile instinct cause an even greater effect? What’s the limiting factor? Where’s that curve going to be on December 3?
It is true that advertisers have been moved around the FOX network and away from Glenn Beck’s show. But, if you look I think you’ll find that FOX’s ratings across the board have went up since Beck started at FNC and that means they charge more $$$ for ad time. And myself I enjoy that fact that there 17 minutes at the start of his show with no commercials ! Every other show go’s about 6 minutes without a commercial. That must be the trust FOX has in him.
But lets face it Beck is not up against great people ether, with people like:
Rachal (Potsy) Maddcow
Keith Overbite
Larry (throw em a softball) King
And that weird guy who get a warm thrill up his leg when Obama speaks.
One question: Does anyone here ever get a warm feeling up their leg when they hear ANYONE speak? Lets face it, thats creepy!
By FOX’s standards all the other so called talent has been rendered incompetent.
wolfster38 wrote: “…One question: Does anyone here ever get a warm feeling up their leg when they hear ANYONE speak?…”
Definetely YES! Up my legs in the same vein as the famous song “speak softly, love and hold me warm against your heart…” But the warm feeling never lasted long due to thoughts of garrotes, baseball bats, and now
Chris Matthews.
Mr. Gorman, It seems you took it personally when Bob called the “blog police racist” and deleted him. Maybe you could delete all the individuals that persist in implying others are racists, nazis, idiots, inbred, etcetera, because they are Glen Beck viewers/fans. I realize that would pretty much wipe out most of the liberals on site but it’s obvious they don’t actually watch Glen Beck’s show. Therefore, technically, they are not discussing Glen Beck’s show but simply using this site as a venue for insulting conservatives that do in fact watch it. It’s just a thought.
Gotta love the haters. They watch, give the ratings, then complain about it vainly as if it really even matters or makes an outcome at all. If we, Beck’s viewers, are such ignoramuses; what does that make you half-witted morons that disdain him then?
Galahad, my deletion of comments that aren’t remotely about cable news will remain capricious. If I am browsing the comments and see one that’s off topic, I’ll delete it, but I won’t go hunting for them, it’s too much effort. And it’s a given that everyone thinks they (or their group) is the one being singled out.
It’s amusing to watch the efforts here to pin down the Beck opposition to a reasonable argument or discussion as to reasons for the trends shown above and for the issues/positions taken up by Beck. Rather than presentation of valid reasoning, the same worn-out ploys are used to attempt to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Schopenhauer’s “The Art of Controversy” has a good list of all these devices used to appear to win a heretofore lost argument.
@Boris: interesting, but invalid and trite, tactic to change the argument to one of semantics over the definitions of “data”, “comprise”, and “factual information”. I was using “data” in its more restrictive form to refer to the numerical data presented here. By comparison, the remainder of the “factual information” refers to valid premises. Data and other factual information, plus inference, plus conclusion “comprised” the argument presented.
Unless there are more lawyers here than I think, all this is putting everyone else to sleep.
Truth speaks volumes and will always prevail. AT least Beck wants answers and truth, the lib-media can’t even report truthfully it’s no wonder their viewership is tanking.
Bill,
I was just using your deletion of Bob to make a point. Bob was using “nazi” to describe an action he didn’t like and that’s fine. However, it’s tiring hearing liberals constantly impuning conservatives’ character by calling them nazis or other epithets. The term “nazi” is especially annoying because it makes no sense since nazis were socialists, the antithesis of conservatives!
Since everyone is passing by that comment, I just wanted to mention to Don Osborne that it’s incredibly fallacious to even suggest that every person older than you is smarter than you. Intelligence is made up of many things, not just knowledge, but how it’s synthesized and maintained and a host of other factors. I agree with the notion that there is much to learned from people who have been around longer, but there is a process of discriminating which people are worth listening to and have actually used their additional years in an effort to expand their minds, and those whose minds seem to have collapsed in on themselves.
Which brings me to Beck. As someone who has watched him a few times, it’s fairly obvious to see why he’s so popular. He speaks quite passionately and has a very carefully practiced style of rhetoric. I don’t think I could speak half as persuasively as him, though I am quite certain I can provide a written account of his factual errors. For example, that speech he made when introducing the 9/12 project, the infamous one where he cried while on air. That speech was completely nebulous, and it was only until after health care reform became an issue that the whole project seemed to fixate on this. He’s fantastic on fixating on arbitrary facts and using them to present an ideology.
The 9 principles from his project are probably the silliest list of rules to live by I’ve seen in some time.
http://www.the912project.com/the-912-2/
The first one is so utterly meaningless as a principal it isn’t worth mentioning. The second excludes non-monotheists (and I suspect non-Jews/Christians) from the discussion and contradicts the eighth principle. The third isn’t too bad, but the second half renders it a bit absurd. It seems to assume you will lie at least once every day. The fourth is anarchistic, obviously, and has little to do with the quote used to support it. Five is good, so no complaints there. Six comes very close to acceptable, but an attempt to deny equal rights? Aren’t all men created equally? I don’t understand seven as the government has never enforced charity, unless it’s implying tax allocation should be influenced by the people, which is the whole point in having a democratic election. Eight is a good one, though it addresses a very specific concern in its phrasing and not the broader issue I’m assuming it wants to get at. Nine should be separated from the individual, and as it stands, it’s biggest crime is poor use of English.
If someone wishes to apply these principles to their life, they have every right to. But don’t assume those who don’t aren’t thinking critically about them. And more importantly, assuming one individual has a monopoly on the truth will always lead you astray as no one is infallible.
@JG:
You stated “…it’s incredibly fallacious to even suggest that every person older than you is smarter than you…”
Agreed. That is substitution of authority for reason.
You present a well-structured analysis of Beck’s 9 principles. I would refute your claim of their “silliness”, however, and specific points in the claim.
Is there an automatic deletion of numbered lists here?
I think when it comes out that people are asking questions about whether Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990, these trends might reverse.
I know, I know, nobody’s seen the proof that Glenn Beck murdered a young girl in 1990, but Beck hasn’t denied it, and won’t let people examine evidence on his person and effects.
He has not submitted to a DNA test.
Now I don’t have any evidence that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990. In fact, it all might be some parody of Glenn Beck’s performance style of baseless accusations. But until these questions are cleared up, these questions will persist and only continue to grow.
Wouldn’t it be ironic if BOTH of these claims proved to be true?
Posting disabled?
If you actually watched, read, or listened to Glenn Beck you would know that he offers resonably logic and on what he says, claims, or questions.
I’m honestly starting to think he is simply too intellectual for alot of people to get or understand. This explains the whole “he won’t refute the claim”. The claim that has no basis, reasoning or logic behind it.
I don’t know what it is, but I can’t type today. I meant “reasonable logic”
Administrator: Please explain the problems with the recent posts that have been deleted.
If I am browsing comments and find some that I judge to be off the topic of cable news, they’ll be deleted.
This is likely to be random, since I will not exhaustively search for comments, and capricious, since I will go long periods without looking at comments.
If I end up deleting someone’s comments repeatedly, I’ll just block them entirely to save myself the trouble.
The last 2 or 3 really long comments were all about Glenn Beck though. I don’t make the rules, but I see why people can get irritated. Seems like a select few are ruining things both ways for everybody.
@Bill Gorman: Thanks for the response. However, it is much too frustrating to formulate well-thought-out, calm, non-threatening responses to assertions made about the commentators associated with the ratings, only to see them deleted while the seemingly controversial and slang-filled posts remain. It’s your site, but I will continue my search for a less frustrating venue. You might consider that if you are deleting posts I make, you have crossed the line between open dialogue and suppression — not a good thing to do if you are advertiser dependent.
Blaffie I’ve been hanging out at politicalforum.com seems like a decent place. If you go there let me know I’ll get you my user name there. Or if you find a decent place to go, let me know here.
Not that I plan on leaving this place because I like seeing Glenn Beck on top!
Charlie, an excellent idea. Folks, if you want to talk politics, go to a politics site!
It’s not very complicated. Keep on commenting on the topic at hand and don’t let the White House plants (e.g. the one spreading the Beck “story”) ruin it for you.
http://www.tvchannelsfree.com/watch/5585/Fox-News.html
These numbers don’t cover the people who like me watch Glen Beck on the internet. At the sit I use appoximately 200,000 people watch. I am sure there are a number of others.
As an independent, non-white guy, I find it rather funny for people to get all uptight about the “racist” comment Glenn made. Meanwhile, politicians on both sides have been throwing the race card almost on a weekly basis. This is after we’ve elected a president that was supposed to close the gap, the bi-partisan, post-racial president ever, remember? How is that working out?
Let’s not forget it was Mr. perfect president Obama that took a side with the cambridge police vs professor ordeal, the side of yet another black man that used the race card.
This is really funny watching one side bicker with the other, when both sides are dumb and both are using race cards. God forbid a white male calls a black male racist for a change. Why can’t we just move on and recognize everybody is racist in one way or another?
I can tell you Glenn Beck’s show doesn’t cater to the hardcore GOP folks, they cater more to the independent people, or people who are more towards the center rather than left or right. He’s the only one asking questions and talking about things that other shows, including Fox’s other hosts, don’t want to talk about. Move him 2 hours into primetime, he’ll beat out O’Reilly in a day and Bill’s producers would have to be forced to change the show intro’s and video clips.
Wow! Again I am amazed at the depth of self-delusion of The Left within these comments – or perhaps it is the special points they rack up with the White House, no matter.
When you cannot argue with the plain facts that make up the content of Beck’s show, you attack the man. Great tactic! Gives the world some insight into the purity of your motives.
Roger Ebert rules: “Glenn Beck missed the boat when it sailed toward intellectual maturity, and now he’s rowing furiously in pursuit, waving a pirate flag.”
It’s so funny to watch the libbies try and get a handle around why nobody really cares what they say. Nobody watches their pals on MSNBC, nobody listens to any one of their “personalities” on the radio. They stole the election in Minnesota with ACORN and probably stole the national election as well. They are so in-love with their repulsive, socialist vision of America they can’t see the silent majority has awaken and are through putting up with their crap.
Thanks a lot, Bill! Blaffie expressed my frustration eloquently. JB’s nonsense remained and you deleted my response. This site has two types of contributors; people that hate Beck, and proceed to insult those who watch him, and people who offer reasoned discourse. I guess only hatred and insults are “on topic”. That’s too bad.
I’ll miss Blaffie. He’s a gentleman, something very rare on this site.
I believe that many people who criticize Glenn for his sincerity and honesty are not honest themselves- even with themselves. They wouldn’t know an honest person if they saw him.
There are good, honest people out there, who really strive to be straightforward with their fellow man in everything they do. If these people will watch Glenn long enough thye will feel to exclaim- he is the Real Deal – a truth teller.
People who are prone to dimiss him at face value without serious study, are more likely (not always) those who are gullible enough to believe whatever the liberals/socialist/fascists/communists want to feed them. They have been buying into that philosophy so long, they don’t know the difference. It is an outgrowth of their personal lives. I wouldn’t be surprised that they find it no big thing to tell a “little lie”- if they think it will bring about what they suppose is a greater good.
People are not refuting Glenn Beck’s facts. Facts are stubborn things.
Since this is a post about Glenn Beck’s ratings I should point out that him having anymore of a “shady” past of drugs or alcohol than our President. And roughly 65 million Americans voted for him last November despite that fact. So what if roughly 2.5 million tune into Glenn Beck everyday? Why feel the need to attack him constently? For those who don’t like his show should find some other show to watch or stop acting like you don’t watch.
I check out this site daily to see what’s happening and the trends are about the same, Glenn seems to have found his ‘general’ audience settling in.
Glenn is mostly right on what he says but he is human and like us all we make mistakes. Unlike this left wing right wing nuts. Lets ship them all to france haha. Greed is the biggest problem in the U.S God look over us one and all no matter how riddculous these people may come people in there older days seem to see the error of there ways. Lets hope its true for our kids!
Glenn, Greta, Martha etc. FOX scores for us everytime.
You guys register on MikeB’s forum he created and let the good times roll:

Beck will likely take down Obama’s Marxist Revolution by himself.
beck makes O’Reilly look sane. Didn’t think that was possible, but many Americans love foam at the mouth kind of personalities and Beck is definitely foaming…
Notice how the liberals always think they are smarter than everyone else? They can’t stand hearing the truth, statements that they cannot defend with facts. Their response can only be attacks on people like Beck. They have nothing else to offer! The numbers don’t lie… If you don’t like hearing the truth, don’t watch (or listen)! tune into your democratic controlled network news. With their numbers tanking, soon we will be bailing them out. After the bailout you can rename network news… how about calling it PRAVDA.
@ Philosopher Jay, 0bama IS a racist. Read his book “Dreams of Our athers”. It’s pretty clear exactly what he thinks of white people in that book, including dissing even his own white grandmother who took him in and brought him up when no one else would. 0bama is a pathetic joke.
As for Glenn Back’s ratings..unmmm you forgot the little matter of his books. Back in July, Beck had the # 1 selling book in both fiction and non fiction on the New York Times best seller list. That sent his TV ratings skyrocketing. Then in September he had the # 1 selling book in both hard back non-fiction, and paperback non-fiction. That sent his ratings up even further.Sorry liberals, but Beck is simply raking in the cash. The so-called “boycott” by the crazy comminist Van Jones and his loony left “ColorOfChange” has been a monumental failure.
The loony left crazies of America LOSE yet again.
So long suckers!
@ Budo, Roger Ebert?
Who is he?
Ah yes..the same Roger Ebert who’s prpogram on BBC2(British Broadcasting Corporation) was cancelled swiftly because no one would watch him or evencould even stand the sucker.
THAT Roger Ebert?
Will you excuse me while I laugh?
Beck is a commentator and entertainer, not a news reporter. Beck would never pose a a news report or journalist. Other networks are presenting comments and views as “news” and calling these people “journalists”. At least Beck is being honest and up front with who he is.
if the best the left has is on this site, you guys are in for the political beat-down of this short century.
I think he’s sweet.
If you have a problem with Beck you have a problem with honest questions. For Gods sake America! What he is doing is what congress should be doing? He is asking questions that most of us thinking Americans simply do not have the forums with an audience this large to say the same things. Keep in mind folks… Some “Conspiracy theories” in the past have turned out not to be theories. Beck shows you FACT’s. So if you don’t like him, then you will be fine with the fact that the earth is located in the Pegasus galaxy, Barney Franks home galaxy.
I’ve been perusing this site for some time. Bill Gorman is being disengenuous. He obviously seeks out specific people and arguments he doesn’t like and delete them. Liberals have no real sense of honor so little things like being truthful, or silencing others they disagree with are inconsequential to them. Don’t waste your time on a response Gorman. Just delete. I won’t be here for a response.
Glenn Beck rocks!!!
TRUTH GETS THE RATINGS!
YOU CAN’T ARGUE WITH THE FACTS.
GLEN BEGS TO BE PROVEN WRONG.
GLEN BECK/RONPAUL; GREAT AMERICANS
