A Second Great Pumpkin To Pre-empt Hank On Oct 28

TheWrap.com’s Josef Adalian is reporting that the October 28 episode of Hank is being pre-empted for a 30 minute version of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. That’s even though a one hour version of Great Pumpkin had already been scheduled to air the day before, and still is.

When 2x Charlie Brown > Hank, the fat lady’s singing.

ABC’s online assets do not yet reflect the Oct. 28 schedule change, but I just got off the phone confirming it with ABC.

Poor Hank, at least he won’t be waiting up all night in the pumpkin patch.

man i love the charlie brown specials every year. My favorite is the thanksgiving one.

  2. Joe says:

Thanks for the link, but the name is Josef, not Joseph! (Only mentioning cuz you’ve changed my name once before!)

  3. Bill Gorman says:

    Joe, my apologies! Fixed.

  4. CSM says:

I believe that is the night b4 sweeps actually begin… so likely next week’s episode of Hank will be the last one until at least December – fat lady is definitely singing. Guess this gives them an extra week to figure out what to slot Wed @ 8 in November.

  5. dsfjr1190 says:

Good. Charlie Brown is always great to watch around the holidays.

  6. Bobby Brady says:

It’s not fair that sophisticated comedy like Hank is being pulled for a cartoon! Now when will they air the episode where Hank opens a pumpkin patch and dresses up in a big pumpkin costume to attract business?

  7. mark-allen says:

    poor kelsey grammer…

first he is stuck in this thankless show and then he is prempted by a pumpkin…

  8. mark-allen, like Charlie Brown, Kelsey can say, “I got a rock.”

  9. Sam the Butcher says:

Since when is Hank sophisticated? Or a comedy?

  10. Mike says:

Hopefully this will give a bigger lead-in and additional exposure to the remainder of ABC’s Wed comedies…especially “Middle”.

  12. Tony says:

  13. don says:

say goodbye hank another failed sitcom just like back to you next the ax is going to eastwick and the forgotten thank you abc for trashing these jokes of shows abcyessssssssss

  14. rob says:

If The Middle end up improving with this lead-in, ABC will pull Hank from schedule.

  15. romo says:

    Pumkinhead defeats Egghead.

  16. forg says:

How do Charlie Brown specials do in the 18-49, around what range?

  17. last year Great Pumpkin did a 3.4/9 w/18-49

  18. ABC could run Peanuts specials until Scrubs is ready. Wiki says there are 30 of them.

  19. forg says:

Oh, I hope Great Pumpkin will get a 3.0 at least and hopefully The Middle will get boost

  20. Jeremy says:

This also happened to Pushing Daisies last year, so yes, Hank got a rock.

  21. Samantha says:

Pushing Daisies was preempted by DWTS and the CMAs last fall but not Charlie Brown.

  22. Dan says:

I knew Charlie Brown or some kind of Holiday special would eventually preempt Hank, this is step 2 to the series cancellation.

  23. Chuck Tranberg says:

Good, love Great Pumpkin and then can watch the Middle.
