I’m really shocked that its taking CW so long to pick up Vampire Diaries for a full season
I thought it was already picked up for a full season. WTF are people talking about!
^ No there are no official pick up news meaning CW has not issued a press release. CW ordered additional scripts. They will pick this up definitely but just wondering when will they make if official
maybe there are some problems with the production and they’ll have to cancel it?
There’s no way they would cancel their best rated show. If there are production problems they’ll find a way to overcome them.
I’m glad I was wrong about this show. I thought it was going to be complete garbage, and instead it’s a very well written and acted program that deserves to go up each week. Last night was great!
Especially since Smallville’s ratings are down, there not cancelling this.
Such a success for Supernatural. Yeah, right.
Supernatural ratings for season one. When it was still a great show on the WB, about two brothers WHO LOVED EACH OTHER hunting things WITHOUT JESUS CHRIST AND DUMB ANGELS.

Why did Vampire Diaries female teen rating drop so much this week while all the other demos increased? It was 3.0 last week, down to a 2.5 this week and a series low.
Jon K, if it makes you feel any better it rose to a 2.7 in the finals (the above were the prelims — 3.0 was last week’s final numbers). Still down 10% week over week.
KillCastiel,
As a huge Supernatural fan, I, too, have had a tough time with the last couple of seasons, especially as Season 4 went along and Sam and Dean got further and further apart. Last season it was Sam and Dean breaking apart at the seams.
With this season’s attempts at bringing them back together–different than before, but hopefully wiser and their bond stronger, I’m liking this season more. Last season had some amazing, amazing episodes but overall I don’t like it when they fight with each other and that’s practically all they did last year.
This year they seem to be trying to find their way back to each other again and that’s a good thing. It still is a great show. It has changed and matured which is better than a show that stays stagnant and never changes. There has been huge character development with Sam and Dean and J2 are playing their parts brilliantly as always.
I’m sorry you don’t like the direction the show took…I was surprised when it was revealed that an angel had rescued Dean and that Lucifer was trying to break the seals. I hope you keep watching and have faith in Kripke. He hasn’t let me down yet and, while that may be totally contradictory to what I said above, let me clarify. I may not have liked the direction the show went last season in terms of Sam and Dean’s relationship, but I did understand his (Kripke’s) reasoning behind it and was able to applaud the performances of J2 as well as the rest of the cast and crew, without whom the most amazing show on television would not exist.

Well, I’m happy Diaries isn’t as bad as I thought it would be, too. Damon is sufficiently bad to satisfy, even if Stefan is a bit of a bore. And ALL the women are hot. And Nina’s character isn’t a psycho idiot like the babe in Twilight, she’s actually smart and together.
Vampires, vampires, vampires! And now Ashley is a teleporting vampire on Sanctuary! Cool!
I’m happy to hear that Supernatural is doing well. It is a very solid show that has stayed consistently good through out it’s run for the most part. Most shows have trouble pulling that off. The thing that keeps Supernatural going strong is it’s willingness to embrace change. Every season there is a new threat and higher stakes. Yet all everything connects and ties together very well. Also Supernatural is very good at remembering little things from other seasons and giving them all pay offs later down the road. There are things happening in this season, new twists and revelations, that have been set up since the first episode. The only other show I can think of that does this as well is Lost. Most shows aren’t this well crafted or collected.
Also obviously the great chemistry that Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki have together really makes this show shine. These guys really play off each other so well and they totally nail the acting responsibilities that they have. They are just as good with the comedy as they are with the action as they are with the drama. They are great actors. I think that they both have the potential to become big actors one day. Especially Jensen Ackles who has just as much on screen charisma as some of the biggest actors in the business.
I don’t know why some people are complaining about the darkness in the show. How the conflict in Dean and Sam got worse and worse. I think that the show kind of set up the fact that there was going to be conflict way back when John Winchester told Dean that he might have to kill Sam. The fans should have expected things to get heated for a while now. Personally, I welcomed the conflict because it was well constructed conflict which leads to good drama. It raises the stakes and it invests the audience more deeply. First they make you care about these guys and now they are making us worry about them. That’s what good drama’s do. I’m actually impressed with the WB’s willingness to take things as dark as they have. Supernatural feels as mature and adult as an HBO series practically. The show takes chances.
Personally, I’m looking forward to the direction that the show is taking. I’m really invested and, if the the ratings are any indication, many of other people are invested as well.
I’ve watched SUPERNATURAL since day one, and have enjoyed every single episode, even those that Kripke himself wasn’y thrilled about. Each has its own gems to share, including “Bugs” and “”Red Sky at Morning.” I consider it to be the best-written, acted, produced, filmed and directed series on television. You can’t compare season 1 ratings with what’s happening now (and when you add in DVR numbers, we’re over 3). SUPERNATURAL debuted on Tuesday and was NOT up against powerhouse hits CSI, GREY’S, OFFICE and this season, FRINGE. The CW is a network that isn’t even available in all markets, so that’s another strike against any show on that network. SUPERNATURAL fans are amongst the most passionate, intelligent and caring I have ever seen. Jensen and Jared have appeared at so many fan conventions and given so much to us. All I can say is, if this is SUPERNATURAL’s last year on the air, it’s been a fantastic ride, and I have no doubt the conclusion will be one we will never forget. Forg – I agree, for a fifth billionth time, where is the full season order? Did The CW just think they ordered a full year or forgot?
Hey KILLCASTIEL, quit acting as though your damn opinions are “facts”.
In my humble opinion, I suspect that because Vampire Diaries and Supernatural are the CWs warships at the moment, they want to renew both shows. However, while it’s pretty freakin’ obvious (at least everyone but the CW brass) that Vampire Diaries MUST be renewed, the problem lies with Supernatural. Creator Kripke stated right from day one that he had a 5-season plan/story arc for the show, and that after 5 season, he was done. Jensen (Dean) and Jared (Sam) have stated that unless the CW backed a Brink’s truck up to their doors, they wouldn’t want to do more than that themselves (notwithstanding the fact that they signed a six season contract). The two actors are the full-time leads in an hour-long show and are probably a bit exhausted from the workload, plus are now being forced to decline lucrative projects from film studios that obviously appreciate their charm (Jared) and charisma plus talent (Jensen) far more than the CW does.
Very likely the CW is negotiating with Kripke to stay on for a sixth season (he only signed on for five) and is begging the two leads to remain as well. Hence, there is a delay in announcing anything until Supernatural is locked down. Just a thought.
Supernatural continues to be a marvel. I hope it continues after season 5.
Oh and KillCastiel – don’t be a hater.
