Just as the autumn leaves fall from the trees, it’s the season for desperate fans to engage in quixotic efforts to save their doomed shows. The latest, fans of the ABC drama Eastwick. They’ve started the trendy Twitter group, and, of course, a useless petition. Of course, none of that will work. The show’s ratings have already doomed it.
If they’d been listening to commenter Harold, they’d be really original and go for a little skywriting!
Join them, mock them or pity them?
Pity them. Don’t get attached to a show in its first half of a season. If the ratings aren’t there, the show sucks and will be put out to pasture.

I will join them gladly. It’s a great show and has gotten better with each new show. No more reality crap. If eastwick goes there’s just castle and lost. On CBS I only watch medium. USA, TNT showtime hbo and the cw get most of my veiwing time now.
I have to admit, the sight of Rebecca Romijn sans blue skin is very disturbing.
If the Dollhouse, Chuck and TSCC fans can do it, why no the Eastwick fans?
I love the show too but I wont bother with these petitions because they wont work. really sad to see this might get the axe, it has great potential….
as far as I know, the petitions and stuff have only worked twice. Once with Family Guy after season 2 (the first cancellation) and then again with Jericho. However, in the case of both shows they only ran for one more season anyway, to terrible numbers. (Family Guy was cancelled again after season 3 and was brought back due to DVD sales and Adult Swim, not a petition).
Will it work for Eastwick? the most I can see it doing is making the show last the whole season.
Potential that, if the writing I’ve witnessed is evidence, will never be reached.
Surprisingly, especially to me, the show is actually quite entertaining. It’s a shame that no one watches it. Bill is right that the show’s ratings have already doomed it, even if someone at ABC considers the show a “quiet success.”
Pity them. It will probably be a lost cause. Best advice: enjoy the show while it is on the air.
Actually, a petition is what initially side-tracked Family Guy in a negative way. The person whose name was used for Peter was peeved at the creator for using it, so he created a fake petition to get the show off the air.
ABC is pleased with Eastwick calling it a quiet success. They will keep it.

If ABC would want to try to save it the doomed-anyway Forgotten should be sent on hiatus, Brothers and Sisters should be in its slot behind DWTS results show -it could really give a hard time to The Good Wife and a sure improvement on the slot – and Eastwick should be tried out behind Desperate Housewives. Just for a week. If it works, great, if not at least they tried.
Btw if it isn’t extremely expensive, Eastwick would fit in perfectly for CW or Lifetime and for them it could be great ratings wise.
Both Eastwick and The Forgotten are done, both will hopefully air all episodes but I cant see either lasting past December.

Its the sad legacy of JERICHO. Fans of dead shows trying stunts to keep their dead shows from being, well, dead. After the Epic Fail of Jericho fans efforts where when the show returned ratings tanked another 25%+. That sort of thing will never work again.
E is reporting that ABC is not yet giving up on this show. There are no details, but ABC is going to give the show one more promotional push. We’ll see…

It could very well turn into a success. Cheers and M*A*S*H were both sleepers in the beginning. (If I’m not mistaken, Cheers’ first 2 seasons had horrible ratings – but was a favorite of one of the Executives so they kept it on.) Lo and behold M*A*S*H’s and Cheers’ audience finally found them and they both became huge successes. (There are a number of other shows that have a history like this, these are the only two that I can think of off the top of my head).
While I have no personal investment in the show and I agree that it’s probably doomed, I don’t think it’s appropriate to mock. I think it’s easy to understand the feeling of wanting to save a loved show. We all know that feeling. After Dollhouse, I say, anyone has a shot. Dollhouse was a sure cancelation, and look what happened there. Extenuating circumstances? Maybe. But I think everyone should have an opportunity to campaign for their show. The petition is not the way to do it, but getting a strong following and starting to talk about ideas is a start. I’m not about to join them, but I’m not about to mock them either.
after charmed there were no shows like this out, and this is as great as that show was, I do not see why it would be canceled, its the only show like it on tv right now. This disturbs me, if it is canceled than I have lost all faith in the networks.
I find it fascinating that someone would take the time to post negetive comments about a show or someones love for a show, that they dont even like. Yes, you have a right to voice your opinion, but why waste your time?? I also think people should have the opportunity to campaign for their fav show. Why mock them? If you dont like the show, dont watch…
I was totally disgusted when ABC family canceled Kyle XY and left a dumb cliff hanger ending. I am sick and tired of these networks canceling good shows. I am at the point where I don’t feel like watching tv anymore because it is just a waste of my time. Do we all have to wait and see if the shows last, then buy the series on DVD? Eastwick is an awesome show and does get better each episode. I don’t know what they expect when they put a show in a 10:00 spot. Put the show on earlier.

It’s ashame because Im really into this show. I think if it was paired with a better lead in( exp Desperate Housewives) it would get the ratings it deserves. Its a cute show. People should check it out and it’s only getting better week to week!
I love, love, live Eastwick!! After ABC did away with 2 of my favs (Pushing Daisies & Dirty Sexy Money) I didn’t see much need to stick around until Eastwick!! It is so funny and clever, great acting and a great re-make, please ABC give it a chance!!! Save Eastwick!!

Fan Campaigns — the reason that Nielsen families’ identities are shrouded in secrecy.
On CBS or Fox there would be NO HOPE at all. On ABC there’s a glimmer – who knows, they might enjoy the buzz of a good fan campaign — have they ever had one directed at them recently? CBS & Fox, CW and NBC all have had them. ABC might feel left out . . . .

I love this show – It’s nice and light and keeps your interest. It’s better then all of the crime shows out there now that shows us how to kill people and get away with it. This one conjures up some fun!!
It is a great show which is why it probably will get cancelled since that how it so often works. And if it does go off they’ll probably replace it with some reality crap. It is a shame but I’m thinking this is just deja vu Pushing Daisies all over again. Sure Dollhouse got a second season but sadly knocking it off until December sounds like the final nail is about to be put in its coffin. I hope I’m wrong about that because I’d love it if both shows survived. There are too many cop shows so it is refreshing to have something that isn’t.

Eastwick has some wit and style, but the ratings keep trending downwards. Viewers are clearly losing interest week after week. Unless ABC chooses to nurture this show and reverse this trend, sorry to say it’s a goner.

Eastwick is getting better week after week. It is holding it’s own inspite of no promotion on ABC’s part. Although the ratings are weak, what do you expect if it get’s no promotion. People need to watch the show now because it is getting even more interesting. Truth is there are a lot of people who DVD and watch it later. The actors are great, especially Paul Gross and Lindsay Price. I love Lindsay. She was great in Lipstick Jungle and has a very funny, quirky character to play in Eastwick. She is a great actress and deserves to be in a show that has a chance to succeed. Please give Easwick a chance to grow it’s story and audience.

Really, aside from Trauma, which is already canceled and 3 Rivers, which is bombing and will be canceled soon, there are only 4 hospital shows on broadcast (Grey’s, PP, House, and Mercy). That hardly seems excessive.
There are more shows dealing with magic/the supernatural (GW, Medium, Eastwick, Supernatural, Vampire Diaries) than dealing with medicine.
Why do you always have to cancel the great shows. First Lipstick Jungle, now Eastwick. I swear, I will stop watching scripted shows if Eastwick gets cancelled!

Sure I was pissed when they canceled Kyle XY and deliberately tried to do my best to save the show, i realized the chances of that are very slim and I just started to get used to eastwick already because it truly is a good show. Please don’t cancel the show and please give every show a proper ending!
Its highly likely Eastwick will air all 13 episodes. Its doubtful ABC will schedule repeats of the series if their not gonna order more episodes and it seems unlikely ABC will air specials.
