There’s not much more to say about Three Rivers. It is certain to be canceled by the end of this season, the only remotely interesting thing left is when CBS pulls it from the schedule.
Cold Case was pre-empted by a football overrun this week, but because CBS’ average ticked up sharply (thanks again to football!) its Index sank. “Oh woe is CC, it can’t catch a break” wail the fans!
The Good Wife ratings continue to slip. It’s now at least in some danger of being canceled at the end of the season, particularly if it continues to slide.
New Adventures of Old Christine and Gary Unmarried are stably pitiful, but what’s new? If CBS is determined to weather their terrible ratings to establish another night of comedy they may be fine for yet another season.
Numb3rs ratings are again close enough to those of Medium and Ghost Whisperer to put its future in less doubt. Last season Numb3rs was renewed with a gap between its Index and that of Ghost Whisperer of 0.10. At that gap or less, I figure the show is safe, above that gap there’s a risk it gets canceled.
This is a breakdown of CBS scripted shows and their renewal and cancellation prospects. Here are links to the other networks:
-
Notes:
The Renew/Cancel Index is a show’s Season To Date adults 18-49 rating divided by its network’s Season to Date average 18-49 rating. If a show’s season to date 18-49 ratings average equalled its network’s 18-49 average, the show would have an Index of 1.00. Without special factors, scripted shows that were more than 10% below their network’s average are typically canceled by the end of the broadcast primetime season.
Factors that could cause a show to be renewed with well below average index:
- (F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays have been renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.
- (S) – Syndication: Shows nearing syndication (66-88 episodes), often have economic factors that trump ratings leading to renewal.
- (T) – Third Party: Shows that have a portion of their cost underwritten by a 3rd party can be renewed with substantially lower ratings.
- (P) – Produced by the network’s production company – For shows on the bubble, being produced by the network’s corporate production company can be a survival advantage. For real losers, it’s unlikely to help.
While I initially tried to designate shows with “plum” timeslots, I think that’s hard to make that call at this point in the season. It’s likely still a factor, but will have to be an “after the fact” call.
What’s the History of the Index and How Did It Do In the Past? Check out the results from the 2007-8 season and the 2008-9 season.

I think Cold Case will end this season but will air 22-23 episodes in its entirety, Three Rivers I think has a week or two left before CBS decides its fate, it’s the lowest rated drama and with midseason replacements plus Flashpoint, I don’t see CBS being patient as it’s unlikely at this point to grow its audience.
The comedies either should be axed or moved to Sundays because the ratings are hurting Wednesdays. Moving The Amazing Race to Wednesdays or have a drama or a reality at 8pm would boost the already strong CM and CSI: NY.
does NCIS only have 9 episodes this season?
They should have the hospital be sucked into a vortex into Pittsburgh’s legendary secret 4th River for the final episode. Whooooooooosh! Sort of the way the LOST Island vanishes.
numbers safe and the good wife not…
hmmmm
Numbers Friday and The Good Wife Tuesday. Not so hmmmm.
Though I think it is an open question whether either returns next year, and suspect we’ll continue to see their names pop up in these index titles.
Numbers back to green yes!!!!!!! come on Goodwife get back to green!
I hope djm is joking. NCIS has a full 22-ep season this year, and pretty much every season for the immediate future.
Cold Case is done after this year’s full season run.
Good Wife will also be done after this year.
‘Three Rivers’ did bounce back this week in retention of households (up from 77% to 78%), A18-49s (53% to 59%) and viewers (70% to 72%) out of ‘The Amazing Race’, and I think that will earn this well-written show respite for further chances to establish itself during the November Sweep.
Even though it has yet to air precisely within the 9-10 pm timezone (on the east coast at least), ‘Three Rivers’ demo as a percentage of ‘Desperate Housewives’ demo (its drama competition in the hour) has been showing growth, going from 38% for episode 1 to 37% for episode 2 and 42% for episode 3. Given that CBS pitched ‘Three Rivers’ as a drama alternative to ‘Desperate Housewives’, this slow build against its major competitor is notable.
Dumont,no offense, but did you ever notice than whenever you praise a show, it goes off the air? Maybe you should keep quiet if you want these shows to stay on the air.
TBBT is produced by WB just like Two and a half Men is though, isn’t it? I think there was some talk about it getting a two year renewal, because of some other Chuck Lorre/TAAHM/WB legalities, so it seems odd that suddenly it had a (P) indicating a CBS Paramount TV production.
idizzle, I admit to 100% reliance on IMDB for producer data and they have CBS and WB as the producers of TBBT.

That is more myth than fact. Amongst my favourite shows are long-runners such as ‘Lost’, ‘Supernatural’, ‘How I Met Your Mother’, ‘30 Rock’, ‘My Thursday Night Movie’ and even ‘Chuck’.
For the few fence-sitting shows that I watch (’Castle’, ‘Three Rivers’ and ‘Dollhouse’ in particular), I think my arguments in some way mirror the difficult hand-wringing decision-making going on at the network level.
For ‘Three Rivers’, its performance vis-a-vis ‘Desperate Housewives’ is the trend to keep a careful eye upon, and so far after 3 airings, it’s been positive.
Well, as weird as that is to me, it would explain how CBS stopped Cuoco from appearing on Grey’s Anatomy while apparently A-OK with Wanda Sykes doing a show for FOX and Holland Taylor being on Monk repeatedly. Sooo – I guess I am buying that imdb info.
TBBT is definitely a Warner Bros production like TAHM — here’s a B&C story on the renewals from last March:
http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/190270-CBS_Warner_Bros_Renew_Two_And_A_Half_Men_The_Big_Bang_Theory_.php
The Futon Critic is usually easier to use to find studio information. IMDb seems to include the network for most shows, at least on CBS.
http://www.thefutoncritic.com/showatch.aspx?id=big_bang_theory
OK, the (P) after TBBT is no more!
Not that they wouldn’t be regardless based on the numbers anyway, but both TAHM and TBBT are not only likely to be renewed through the 2010-2011 season, the already are!
But I understand those sorts of designations wind up being color coding/notational nightmares.
Well one thing to consider is that CBS does get to see how the show does at 9pm (they do get all that data from the West Coast) both in viewers and demo. And while shows do perform in different levels in various regions, it does give CBS an ability to see how the show does without interruptions week to week.
if CBS truly wanted to shore up its Wednesday night comedy block, they could try BigBangTheory repeats instead of Old Christine and/or Gary Unmarried repeats as a test run for a fall 2010 shift to lead off Wednesday nights.
CBS would have 2 strong shows in 2aaHM and BBT with solid HIMYM anchoring 3 comedy hours.
or, in a ‘don’t fix what’s not broken way’, is BigBangTheory simply set-up to take over 2 and a Half Men once it becomes too expensive/ends its run?
also looking down to Fall 2010, where does a Criminal Minds spin-off land, Sunday or Tuesday Nights? i doubt moving an established show (like CSI NY) will happen again as that kinda damaged a previously solid Without a Trace or maybe didn’t do as well as hoped like the Mentalist this year ?
It’s so weird that CSI is their #7 show, and behind 3 different spinoffs that it helped originate.
I am surprised Bill that The Good Wife is in the Orange Zone.I reckon the ratings will get better and i hope CBS will support this show for as long as possible and not ditch it for another Criminal Minds spin off or some garbage.
Nick C is announcing that Three Rivers has been canceled.
http://behindthescreensblog.com/2009/10/20/three-rivers-canceled/
THREE RIVERS is canceled. A producer I know was informed today. Should get media verification shortly.
@j, there are only 2 CSI spinoffs. If you’re referring to NCIS, that was a spinoff of JAG – different franchise.
About time, CBS is cutting it close on setting up the promo for the new November schedule.
CBS just issued a couple of press releases. In one of them it noted Three Rivers’ growth: THREE RIVERS (10:15-11:15PM) posted a 5.0/09 in households, 7.83m in viewers, 2.4/06 in adults 25-54 and 1.9/05 in adults 18-49 at 10PM. Compared to last week (with a 9:43PM start time), THREE RIVERS was up +6% in households (from 4.7/07), +4% in adults 25-54 (from 2.3/05), +12% in adults 18-49 (from 1.7/04) and added +500,000 viewers (from 7.33m, +7%).
The second press release announced the November 8 episode, “Where We Lie”. As I posted yesterday in another thread, CBS is planning to air original episodes of Three Rivers on October 25 (”Code Green”) and November 1 (”Alone Together”) and Mandy Patinkin will be guest starring in another upcoming episode, “The Luckiest Man”. I remain cautiously optimistic about TR.
Amy V.
Amyvil- Press releases are designed to spin anything into some sort of positive. And schedules can be changed anytime, so I wouldn’t put much stock into that either.
Three Rivers “growth” this past week is probably because, airing at 10:15 pm on the east coast, it was competing against the weaker Brothers & Sisters and not Desperate Housewives.
hmm CBS must not like “Code Green”, its episode 3 and they keep pushing it back. So now the airing order will be 2, 1, 4, 5, 3.
I know the (F) means Friday, but what do the (P) and (S) mean?
Rick, from the post:
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays have been renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.
(S) – Syndication: Shows nearing syndication (66-88 episodes), often have economic factors that trump ratings leading to renewal.
(T) – Third Party: Shows that have a portion of their cost underwritten by a 3rd party can be renewed with substantially lower ratings.
(P) – Produced by the network’s production company – For shows on the bubble, being produced by the network’s corporate production company can be a survival advantage. For real losers, it’s unlikely to help.
the more i watch ncis LA the more I think it is just as much as a spinoff from the unit as it is the original ncis……might be why it has had such surprisingly high ratings
even uses some of the same actors
@fred
even uses some of the same actors
Who?
GOOD WIFE IS ORANGE?!? why would it be like that right now. If none on you realize it has been stable since its debut. Its been average around 13.5 million views and over a 3.0 in the demo. It was slightly under 13 million last week but that means nothing. It is doing great and to me not going anywhere. I love the show.
This site is reporting that rumors of Three Rivers cancellation (today, anyway) are a hoax:
http://www.tvovermind.com/three-rivers/three-rivers-canceled/11583
Why do you have Medium listed on renew? I thought it was pretty clear CBS swung it back to the mother ship to get in the fifth season for syndication.
I think that even if Three Rivers got a little more viewers it doesn’t matter. Still awful numbers and awful demo for CBS. Three Rivers is never going to get a second season. The only question is when it is going to be canceled or if CBS is going to air all the 13episodes, after all CBS does love the producer of this show because they keep giving her shows even if all of them tank.
By the way I read in THR a few days ago that CBS has plans for a new Medical show for next
season, so another hint that Three Rivers won’ t be coming back
I mentioned on last week’s index that I was told “Cold Case” had gotten a 13-episode renewal. (Cynthia Littleton of Variety and Cynopsis had reported the same thing last May.) According to the writers’ blog on the CBS website, this is incorrect. “Cold Case” got a 22-episode renewal. Just cross your fingers that CBS doesn’t pull a “Yes, Dear” on it.
“Rules of Engagement” is the CBS show that was only renewed for 13. They wrap in December. Probably for good.
How is it, when the CBS Friday lineup is pullling really low demos, like 1.8, 1.9, when-at least the veteran shows-once pulled up in the upper 2.0’s, and had about 2 million more viewers, that you think they will survive? Do you think that CBS is finally getting it through its corporate head that Friday is a sinkhole, and it is now settling for worse demos than it has in the past? Or, is it because all of them are produced by CBS in some capacity, so they get some extra grace?
On October 26-28, there will be an article “Three Rivers Axed”. Sinking numbers for Rivers brings down Cold Case (which also will be axed in May) Enough said, I dont see The Good Wife getting a second year. When you factor in ABC’s midseason dramas and limited timeslots, Good Wife is going to have a lot of competition. I think NCIS LA will be the only drama from this year to last into 10-11. With Good Wife and NCIS LA given a full year and Rivers soon to be axed, that leaves Accidentally the only bubble series, which in my opinion will get a full season but a second is 50/50 (especially with another Rules of Engagement season waiting in the wings).
What? CBS is rebroadcasting its Three Rivers episode on Saturday at 8. Is CBS really trying to save this series?? http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=8345
Dan, most likely they are trying to make back a bit of the money they have lost on Three Rivers.
I hope Good Wife could go up again, I like that show so hopefully it will stabilize om the 3.0 level
Julia – True, Im just so used to CBS pulling a series after 3 or 4 episodes anyway that they wouldnt bother saving it. Rivers is scheduled to air on October 25, November 1 and November 8. I doubt the series will make it past October 25 but stranger things have happened. If Rivers makes it to November, it will be the first time since fall 2005 that CBS has waited until November to cancel a drama. Whats even more ironic was in 2005 CBS had 4 new dramas on the schedule so youd think it would be more likely theyd dump 1. But they renewed 2 early (Ghost Whisperer and Criminal Minds, which are both still airing) and they took some time to make a decision between Close to Home and Threshold. Had CBS axed Home when it initially did badly tuesdays at 10, they would have never found out its success fridays at 9 but they took their time that year. This season its clear that Three Rivers will be axed.
Well is it possible that Three Rivers will be relocated to Saturdays like Harper’s Island?
Riff Rafferty – Yes Dear and Still Standing were both cut in November 2005 but both were into syndication (which is the most likely reason both were kept for 2005-2006 (as well as both comedies from the season before being axed). CBS hasnt done that to a drama in a while. Cold Case has stablized sundays nights and will continue airing until May. The creators should write a proper finale so the show doesnt end Cold, since it will be axed.
lainey – Friday nights are generally given more leniency. All 3 CBS dramas win the night however, so CBS should be glad about that. All 3 are consistent and for once the 9pm series isnt the weak link. Numb3rs is starting to slip, and I admit has a slight chance of being axed in May, but its more likely CBS will keep the friday trio for 10-11. I still thought it was funny when last year, Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs were down airing with The Ex List but as soon as NCIS repeats went into the slot, both dramas improved considerably.
No CBS , wants Three Rivers and Alex to gain viewers. The show got backluck with football and the delays. The show will get more viewers with the Saturday rerun and on Sunday with no delays it will get over 10 million viewers.Next week Three Rivers won’t be in the same color in your list
forg – No, if it aired on NBC or ABC Three Rivers would likely be relocated to saturdays (if it was doing really badly in its current slot like last years Crusoe and Kings), but CBS doesnt do that. Harper’s Island was the exception because it was a mini series, and if pulled actual viewers who followed the series would be more annoyed. CBS would just pull Rivers and never return it like Threshold, Love Monkey, Smith, 3 lbs, Viva Laughlin, and The Ex List
Maybe CBS should schedule another NCIS rerun on a Friday even for just one time to see it it could boost up the numbers for the line up, I know they are still winning but they are struggling to get to 2.0 these days. B
I think they’ll burn off Three Rivers on Saturdays because if Harper’s Island viewers can scare CBS into airing out that series, CBS will tremble in their boots at the thought of angering Alex O’Loughlin fans.
I just want to note that it’s still not too late for “Three Rivers” fans to conduct a strong skywriting campaign to save the show.
That site says the both Three Rivers and Cold Case will air on Saturday, so it seems that they want to see what they would do if they aren’t affected by things like football. What do they have to lose if both shows are already in trouble?
Don’t forget that part of CBS and Three Rivers’ partnership with Donate Life America is tax-deductible. http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=20091001cbs02
If part of the production cost is tax write-offs, TR may not be that expensive to make and CBS is happy with that.
Forg – CBS would normally add an NCIS repeat to fridays but they wouldnt want to disrupt their Ghost Whisperer/Medium/Numb3rs combo. The combo may be down, but its atleast working well enough. Numbers should pcik up though, its not like the trio has any competition. My guess is after CBS pulls Three Rivers, CBS sticks an NCIS repeat in its slot for November and then moves Cold Case to 9 and adds Flashpoint to 10.
Shaz – It wouldnt hurt CBS to burn off Three Rivers on saturdays, they just wont do it.
Why would the Good Wife Be Cancelled? It is Consitantly in the Top 20 and is the second highest rated new show of the season
Tom – Possibly if the series goes down by the end of the year, CBS can opt not to renewing it. This happened with last year’s Eleventh Hour. The Good Wife has a good chance of coming back though.
Tom, you are looking at total viewing, not demos. It’s not even CBS’s second highest new show in the 18-49 demo. It is CBS’s lowest rated drama from Monday-Thursday. Even if it is doing decently (and it pretty much is) CBS has to cancel shows every year to bring in new shows in the fall. That’s how TV works. Right now, it looks like The Good Wife is a good candidate for cancellation.
I can’t see Three Rivers growing its ratings and double counting ratings doesn’t count, I have no doubt CBS likes Alex O’Loughlin but a show about organ donations is the last thing people want to watch on a Sunday. I imagine the ratings will be nearer 6m than 10m.
Although I think it is likely that Cold Case will shift back to 9pm, isn’t it also possible that a new show airs at 9pm and CC remains at 10pm?
3R is a horrible premise holding fantastic actors hostage. I like the entire main cast and would much prefer to see them in something else. CBS should resuscitate Moonlight, lol! I think few could argue that in the midst of vampire mania going on right now that the show would do well.
Shame that the Good Wife is heading for cancellation. Perhaps if it had a stronger lead in rather than NCIS LA, which is dropping steadily, clearly an inferior program to the original. Is it possible that CBS has a deal with the producers similar to that of Gray’s Anatomy/Private Practice?
The Good Wife’s problem isn’t its lead-in…it isn’t even its ratings. Wife is getting respectable ratings and it has remained quite stead. It’s problem is that CBS has such a solid schedule that they end up canceling shows with decent ratings just to open up some spots for new shows. I definitely think its possible at this point for Wife to get a second season, but I wouldn’t be surpised if it didn’t.
I love the Good Wife, but it can be boring as heck at times due to the slow speed it can take. I imagine it’s boring some viewers away.
I hope more viewers tune in, for this drama is pretty great!
“Don’t forget that part of CBS and Three Rivers’ partnership with Donate Life America is tax-deductible. http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=20091001cbs02”
Where does that press release say that CBS is getting to writeoff part of Three Rivers’ production cost?
I wonder if The Good Wife gets a bit of extra help from being from Ridley & Tony Scott’s company. CBS seems to like doing business with them.
Tax benefits, if there are any, aren’t going to save a show with ratings as woeful as Three Rivers.
Yeah, I don’t think it would help Three Rivers, but I’m curious if this is something TV productions (especially scripted ones) can do — partner with a charity or nonprofit for some joint marketing and get to writeoff a portion of production costs.
With the positive Nielsen trends last Sunday, plus the extra airing that CBS skedded for this Saturday, ‘Three Rivers’ looks safe for now, and has broken through the “three and through” hurdle that has afflicted so many CBS dramas over the past few seasons (e.g. ‘The Ex-List’, ‘Smith’, ‘3 lbs’).
Yes dumont you are right , a show at CBS with 7.8 million viewers and 1.9 in the demo…I am positive CBS and advertisers are so so happy. You’re right I am sure CBS will give this fantastic show 10 seasons. And I will even say next year they will put Three Rivers in the NCSI spot, because this show has so much potential.
Three Rivers is dying , Who cares?
Noone wants to watch a show about Transplants.
Whoever decided to kill the sexy Vamp and turn him into a Transplant Doctor had not had taken his medication that day.
Is anyone really thinking it is going to be a Save Campaign for this one?
Well at least CBS hit the Jackpot with NCSI LA.
No Hanna, you’re the right one. I’m sure at upfront Mr. Moonves guaranteed advertisers an NCIS-like 20 million viewer 4.0 demo for a brand new show up against ‘Desperate Housewives’, ‘NFL Sunday Football’ and ‘Family Guy’. Or he would have, had you been his sageworthy counsel.
Dumont- a 1.9 in the demo is horrible, no matter what the competition. Even Fringe manages to stay above a 2.0, and it’s in the toughest slot of the week.
Three Rivers’ chances of getting a pickup is slim at best.
Not cancelled yet going to reply ep 3 on saturday and ep 5 on sunday then ep 4 the next sunday
For the past two weeks, Three Rivers has been plagued by late starts which have no doubt impacted the ratings negatively.
Why not a show about transplants? They are part of life; and frankly, if it increases awareness of organ donation, it has merit. But I guess that is too much reality for some of those “reality show” aficionados.
It really is unfair to start discussions about cancellations with so few episodes having aired – two which aired at the wrong times.
Kate, the numbers are the numbers and that has proved to be the case in the past, particularly for one hour dramas, and regardless of extenuating circumstances. I get that it doesn’t feel fair, but it is fair whether it feels fair or not
Kate, actually this past week, the late start IMPROVED Three Rivers’ ratings because it wasn’t up against Desperate Housewives on the east coast.
So it looks like late starts can giveth and taketh away depending on how late the start is.
I remember last season how football really helped CBS Sundays, then it went away and almost all their shows fell. Three Rivers without any football…I don’t think CBS is going to want to find out.
Quick CBS! Transplant this show with something else!
Wow can’t believe it’s survived this long. I mean there probably filming episode 8 now?
Why continue to waste money, with these horrible ratings. Amazing Race is a solid lead in, and Cold Case does better after Three Rivers.
People don’t care about the Transplant procedural stuff in general.
It’s about the characters, stories. Check CSI, William Peterson left, now it’s ratings are only good, not great.
Bad acting, bad stories, horriblly filmed, unrealistic. This is worse than the stuff NBC has on the schedule.

They could rename the show to NCIS: THREE RIVRERS, place it behind NCIS at Tuesday 9pm, promote the show like hell and it still would get the ratings it’s getting.
CBS is rebroadcasting Three Rivers’ “Good Intentions” episode this Saturday at 8 p.m. and will broadcast the next epi “Code Green” this Sunday at 9 p.m. The sides for epi 109 of Three Rivers were released yesterday (October 21) and they’re still in production so I remain cautiously optimistic.
Could CSI:NY come under pressure?
It’s dropping in the ratings and as we know CBS is ruthless. This could be the show they drop next Season if they need the spot to bring something new through.
I doubt CSI: NY will get axed any time soon, it’s still a solid performer and it’s still making money plus it’s a CBS production. The CSI Franchise are still a moneymaker for CBS and I think they’ll be trying to get at least enough episodes so they can be stripped 5 days a week for about a year in syndication.
if CBS cancels the good wife, then Im done with CBS.. if they are willing to cancel a show that does 13.5 million/week for another stupid show like NCIS..its means they really don’t care about their audience..
Julie, NCIS gets 7 million more people then The Good Wife…… Btw NCIS is a great show that nicely combines Military Drama with Crime Procedural, not only that it makes Over the Top Cheesyness Look not to cheesy and over the top
I watched part of two different Three Rivers.
The patients on the show seem to be the most obnoxious, ungrateful
lot I have ever seen. I taped saturdays and it starts out with
the Doctor wanting a cocaine etc guy to get the transplant.
They should have made it a Rock star like Crosby and show us why some famous rock stars seem to get aheard of the line or how they decide that. (I will admit I have not watched a whole episode so maybe they did)
I think the tone of the show is so depressing that it is hurting it.
I like all the actors in Three Rivers but when the nicest people are the ones who die and the patients are stupid idiots its hard to watch.
I am not even going to finish watching this.
I think they should get some of the writers from Faulty Towers
or SCTV and make it a more interesting show. Faulty Towers could show how being obnoxious can be funny and entertaining.
This show the way it is now should be on Lifetime if they change it
to more humor than keep it on CBS. I suggest they take Carol Burnett out of retirement and let her have a go at a Hospital show, add
Bernadette Peters and Cloris Lechman as nurses. I would watch the whole show.
The only thing “Three Rivers” needs is a better day and time slot. For the past 2 out of the 3 weeks it’s been on, it has been delayed considerably by overtime football games. I do not see how a network can determine the success or failure of any program after only 3 episodes. That is not enough time to get to know the characters or the storylines. As far as it being “depressing” – life itself can be depressing sometimes, especially for people who are quite ill, maybe in need of transplants, a subject that is not your run-of-the-mill topic of conversation. Maybe it is not as “action packed” as the 800 spin-offs of CSI or NCIS but there is an audience out there, if CBS gives “Three Rivers” the chance.
I wonder why Three Rivers hasnt been pulled yet. It may be early in the week, but last weeks numbers couldnt have been goon enough for CBS to keep the show on for sweeps. Rivers may last into November but Im not sure why CBS would keep it this long. Accidentally should get a full season soon.
I’m glad that Three Rivers isn’t doing that well. That’s what CBS gets for cancelling Without A Trace to make room for Three Rivers. They should have bumped the renewal of Without A Trace instead of cancelling it. I hope another network picks it up. I used to love CBS but now that they are cancelling good running shows, I’m very disappointed.
@Tracy,
Without A Trace is over. If someone else was going to pick it up, it would have already happened. It had run its course and was far too expensive for anyone else to consider picking up.
CBS for several years has been in the position of having to cancel shows with OK ratings simply because they didn’t have enough shows with horrible ratings.
Yeah Trace at a good run but 7 Seasons and 160 episodes is good. Unless a long running CBS drama is part of a CSI or NCIS franchise its a likely contender to end. Look for Cold Case and potentially Numb3rs to be axed by May. I’d say
Cold Case – 100% chance of being axed in May
Numb3rs – 10% chance of being axed in May
Most people thought why not shift Trace to sundays at 10 like in the 2006-2007 season but its less expensive to axe a veteran and develop a new drama. It seems Three Rivers may make it to November, but I really think it will be gone after the November 1 airing.
Cold Case is likely to be axed by the end of the season, I imagine CBS has told the producers already when got picked up for the seventh season, at least they’ll have time to write a series finale unlike Trace.
Has anyone here watched Three Rivers? It’s a great show! It does raise awarness of transplants and is very well written. Shame of the network for not giving this show a chance. Sticking it on Sunday where football always runs overtime, shows are unpredictable for starting on time. They need to stick this show in a better time slot during the week. As far as I’m concerned any show they put in that time slot is going to fail until football is over.
It does raise awarness of transplants
Why do people keep saying that? Who didn’t know aboot transplants?
^Probably the same people who apparently don’t know about AIDS, breast cancer, etc. and need the constant “awareness” campaigns.
