  1. Tyler says:

it’ll be interesting to see what happens to y&r when victor leaves. good for days! glad that one life isnt in last place! maybe days could become the number 2 soap soon!

  2. DenverDean says:

    It’s interesting how big gap is between 1 & 2; 2 & 3 & the rest (4-7), which all within 52K (over 5 episodes each no less).

  3. rodshooter says:

Days of Our Lives was in huge trouble back in 2007 and look at the huge turn around in 2009. It has a shot a catching B&B for second place making history.

NBC would be a damn fool to not renew DAYS past September 2010. ABC is already hot on replacing One Life to Live with it. I believe DAYS’ renewal will be a ownership decision once Comcast takes over operations on NBC next year.

Y&R might be on its way to 5 million everyday once Victor is gone.

ABC Soaps need a huge turn around. They need to go the DAYS route and completely rebuild their shows although OLTL is actually the best of them right now.

  4. AprilFox says:

Former Guiding Light viewer here, I have been watching Days of Our Lives as my replacement show. I used to watch years ago and am really enjoying it. The main reason was because of Crystal Chappell. The other reason I was trying out soaps over the summer and the only one that interested me was Days.

  5. ohiogirl says:

…interesting point about Comcast buying syndication of the “Housewives of” series…perhaps it has nothing to do with Days, and everything to do with Comcast wanting to pocket the money from this cable series, and decide which channels it will be seen on, and what availability it will have to it’s competitor networks, and satellite providers. It seems the powers that be at NBC may be a little nervous about Comcast’s intentions. Could be ‘Housewives’ may wind up on NBC primetime if Jay or any other of a myriad of shows isn’t renewed.

  6. Rob R says:

“Days of Our Lives” has really turned itself around and is running a lean mean operation with good writing and story now, but not a lot of frills (limited musical scoring, repeated use of the same sets over and over, no location filming). But the show looks good and is performed well. DAYS is proving that the ratings for a soap opera do not have to remain in free fall.

  7. tyler says:

ohiogirl, you asked if Days could become a primetime soap, and i had the same question. does anybody know if soaps would improve if they moved into primetime? does anybody know?

  8. Shem says:

I think Y&R would make it primetime but maybe only on cable.
If NBC had Days in Primetime that would just be crazy:

    Mon-Fri

    8 or 9pm- Days
    10pm- Leno

  9. caren cummins says:

it totally unfair that eric braeden is gone I will be watching the rating s from here on out as far Y&R is concerned it stinks to high heaven as I could really careless about this new character named tucker

  10. Jordan says:

Braeden’s re-signed with Y&R and Victor will be with the show for 3 more years according to some terms released. Hopefully Y&R ratings will continue to improve this season as the show has really gotten back to its roots, and Sony can thus stop trying to cut the Y&R budget.

  11. BF says:

Good week for ATWT, +133,000… That’s pretty good!

  12. Rich says:

General Hospital needs to re-focus the show and stop with the Mob stuff….Maybe focus on Doctors again…

Maybe even have Jason begin to regain his old memory as Jason Quartermaine….he can then have a conflict between two realities, his Jason Morgan persona vs his Quartermaine persona…
