As Its Late Night Stumbles, NBC’s Today Show Extends Ratings Lead

As badly as NBC is doing in late night so far this fall, they’re still doing very well in the morning:

For its most recent week ending, NBC’s “The Today Show” not only continues to lead all comers, but it has pushed its lead over ABC’s “Good Morning America” by 1.5 million total viewers. That is the largest margin the “Today” show has had over “GMA” in three years.

“Today” has 5.5 million viewers, according to The Nielsen Co.; “America”, 4.0 million; and CBS’ “The Early Show”, 2.8 million for the week ending Oct. 16. Among the key adults 25-54 demographic, things also went NBC’s way with a 2.1 rating; ABC at a 1.3; and CBS at a 0.9.

NBC used to be able to tout three areas of broadcast ratings leadership, morning show, evening news and late night.

Now for NBC, I guess two out of three ain’t bad!

@ cool – yes they are, by about 1 million viewers.
(8.7 million vs. 7.7 million last week for ABC)

i love TODAY. Meredith, Matt, Al and Ann have great chemistry with each other. This is a sign of how it was before in the 90’s. #1 in both morning and evening news, #1 in primetime and #1 in late night but this shud be still enough for NBC to shout about

    Keep up the gud work!!
