TV Ratings: NFL and Grey’s, TBBT win week with adults 18-49; NCIS, DWTS and NCIS: Los Angeles lead with total viewers

Posted on 27 October 2009 by Robert Seidman

CBS' Big Bang Theory

Update: earlier (for roughly an hour) I had the 18-49 data table sorted incorrectly.  It has been fixed and I apologize for any inconvenience.

NFL Sunday Night Football, post game NFL coverage on FOX and Grey’s Anatomy was the top scripted show with adults 18-49,  followed by The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men and  NCIS.   House was down from its normal heights due to MLB playoff action pushing back its start time on Monday October 19.

As ever, NCIS led the pack with overall viewing followed by Dancing With the Stars, followed by still more NCIS with spinoff NCIS: Los Angeles as last week’s third most-watched show.

FOX aired baseball on Sunday night so there was no animation domination this week, but its replacement, game 6 of the ALCS was fifth with adults 18-49.

As has been the case all season with these lists, outside of Sunday Night Football, all NBC has had going for it is The Office and The Biggest Loser.

On to the lists!

Weekly cable show ratings and overnight broadcast show ratings are also available.

Woot for Modern Family making the top 25!

Dangit, Big Bang Theory is a hit….I just might have to watch an episode.

  2. Chris says:

Despert is right behind Gryes and congrats to Big Bang like all three

  3. RJ says:

Once football is gone, TBBT will probably be the #1 show among 18-49 year olds. Hopefully Grey’s can fall!

  4. Samantha says:

    You forgot about AI, RJ.

  5. romo says:

& SNF last game isnt until january 3.

  6. romo says:

& january 9 NBC has an NFL playoff game at nite.

  7. tom says:

Big Bang Theory Doing Very Well This Season. Shocked to see that a New Episode Of House only came in at #21 in total viewers. I think House is better than ever so I dont now why their ratings are falling

  8. tdot says:

House will never be as good as the first 3 seasons

  9. girl says:

House is down because of the playoff game running late. many people tuned in, saw baseball and assumed it wasn’t on or decided not to wait for it to be over and just watched it online. Oddly enough accidently on puropse and HIMYM were both up that night. guess thats what people turn to when House isn’t on. AND i agree this season of HOuse is AMAZING!!

  10. aleph19 says:

but who’s the real winner here? I think it’s grey’s because it’s the only scripted show to be in the top 10 for both categories.

  11. Lucy says:

    aleph19,

NCIS is also in the top 10 for both categories #7 for demos and #1 for total viewers.

  12. tom says:

girl, your explanation about House makes alot of sense. hopefully once the games are over with, it The ratings will pick up. I didnt care for House in the last couple of seasons with all those new people on it But I am really loving this season and glad to see that the old gang is back together

  13. tom says:

aleph, I agree with you , Grey’s is actually doing alot better than I would have thought,. I stopped watching last season when Denny’s Ghost started appearing, couldnt take it any more. I did watch the first hour of the two hour premiere because I wanted to see how they handled the death of george but after an hour, I gave up , I just cant get into the show anymore .

Saying that, I am impressed with their ratings this season, they are way up from last season

  14. bryan says:

grey’s anatomy has now kind of soap opera thing, a merge of drama/soap-opera
there isnt any excinting patients like in season 1 2 too bad
thats my opinion. but im happy for grey’s :D

  15. AprilFox says:

It’s sad to see what’s happened to CSI Las Vegas. Without Grissom the show is tanking, big time. :(

  16. girl says:

TOM ur right, although House wasn’t bad in the last 2 seasons, it is definately better. and actually the ratings are up, with the exception of last week with the baseball incident. it has been in the top three of adults since its premier and i believe in the top 10 overall viewers. viewership is also up about 2 million. LONG LIVE HOUSE!!

also, those talking about Greys, i totally agree. i can’t understand how the ratings are so high. I stopped, along with everyone else i know, watching last year and tried to get into it this year but it just SUCKS!

  17. tom says:

April I agree, I was watching CSI LV last night and was thinking the same think, it just isnt the same without Good Old Gil Grissom

  18. Gavin says:

The only good show on either lists that is not sporting related is The Office. TV is just so bad nowadays. Although I’m happy to see the number of reality shows slightly dipping.

  19. bvb70 says:

House returns November 9th. You will then see his ratings go up.

  20. cool says:

Desperate Housewives is also in the top 10 in both lists.

  21. Gruel says:

Wow, really happy for Greys! I feel like it’s gotten a bit better from last season, at least the first half of season 5. Got better towards the end of season 5,imo. Hopefully Nov. 5th’s episode will keep on improving the show…i was so cose to giving up on it a coupe of times, but glad i didn’t. Great news!
