ABC ANNOUNCES NOVEMBER SWEEPS PROGRAMMING

The ABC Television Network announces highlights of its upcoming November sweeps programming, including hit drama series “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Private Practice” and “FlashForward” as well as new comedy series “Modern Family” and “Cougar Town.”

“JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE” — Throughout sweeps, Jimmy Kimmel hosts an all-star lineup of guests including, Charlize Theron, Paris Hilton, Dominic Monaghan, Pamela Anderson, John Stamos, Charles Barkley, Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson, Manny Pacquiao and the winner of “Dancing with the Stars.” Additionally, in an unprecedented event, all three leading stars of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, will join Kimmel for an all-Twilight JKL episode with a musical performance by Death Cab for Cutie. November also brings musical performances from Rod Stewart, Slipknot, 50 Cent, Carrie Underwood, Weezer, Leona Lewis, Slayer, One Republic and Switchfoot. Jimmy Kimmel Live airs on ABC, MONDAY – FRIDAY (12:05 a.m. – 1:05 a.m., ET).

“THE MIDDLE” — “The Block Party” – Brick’s teachers tell Frankie and Mike that Brick tested as “socially challenged,” so Mike thinks basketball is the answer to help Brick interact with others. When that fails, Mike enters the neighborhood block-party lawnmower contest and discovers that Brick has a talent for souping up machines. Meanwhile Frankie joins the booster club to raise money for new football jerseys for Axl’s team, but Axl refuses to give his old one to her, on “The Middle,” WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28 (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

“MODERN FAMILY” –“Run for Your Wife” – It’s the first day back at school for the kids and, at the Dunphy house, Phil oversteps when he misreads how Claire is coping with an empty nest. Over at Jay’s, he and Gloria are in disagreement over Manny’s interesting choice of outfit for his first day of class, and Mitchell and Cameron freak out after Lily gets her first bump on the head, on “Modern Family,” WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28 (9:00-9:30 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

“COUGAR TOWN” — “A Woman in Love (It’s Not Me)” – When Josh tells Jules he’s in love with her, she knows the time has come to break things off with him, on ABC’s “Cougar Town,” WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28 (9:30-10:01 p.m., ET). Unfortunately for Jules, she’s not the best at ending relationships without hurting people’s feelings, but thankfully she has the expertise of friends Laurie and Ellie to see her through. Meanwhile, Bobby, Grayson and Andy hit the links with money and pride on the line.

“FLASHFORWARD” – “Scary Monsters and Super Creeps” — Mark, Demetri and Wedeck try to find a connection between Janis’ attack and a separate attack made on them. Meanwhile, as Halloween approaches, Olivia confronts Mark about his flashforward, Demetri and Gough track down a clue that was foreshadowed in Mark’s flashforward, Lloyd’s son, Dylan, goes missing from the hospital, and the elusive Simon makes contact with a reluctant acquaintance, on “FlashForward,” THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“GREY’S ANATOMY” – “Give Peace a Chance” — When Isaac, the hospital lab tech, has an inoperable tumor wrapped around his spine, he turns to Dr. Derek Shepherd to do the impossible, and Derek tests the Chief’s authority when Richard objects to moving forward with the risky surgery, on “Grey’s Anatomy,” THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. This episode is directed by Emmy-nominated Chandra Wilson (Dr. Miranda Bailey).

“PRIVATE PRACTICE” – “Strange Bedfellows” — Addison must deal with the return of Naomi’s former patients, Zoe and Amelia, whose embryos were accidentally switched, and a serious complication that may end up jeopardizing both fetuses. Meanwhile the time has come for Katie’s (Amanda Foreman) trial, as Violet struggles with whether or not she can face her attacker in court, and Charlotte is determined to convince Addison, Sam and Cooper to let her join Oceanside Wellness Group, on “Private Practice,” THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“UGLY BETTY” – “The Weiner, the Bun and the Boob” – Betty is overwhelmed with her editorial work, so Wilhemina assigns Marc to be Betty’s temporary assistant on ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET). Betty’s story idea to cover the worst jobs in New York goes south when she must dress up as a hot dog and do a Bollywood dance number. Meantime, Marc frets that he’ll never be taken seriously by his idol at Vogue magazine, and Hilda gets Archie’s campaign in trouble. Daniel hires a gorgeous but inept assistant (supermodel Brooklyn Decker), and Natalie (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) introduces Daniel to the Community, a group whose charismatic leader (Dylan Baker) zeroes in on Daniel.

“EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION” – “Mattingly Family” — Country Music star Clint Black will “Get on the Bus” as the celebrity volunteer in Kentucky for the “Mattingly” family, on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET). Two years ago, volunteer fireman Steve Mattingly was responding to a fire call at a neighborhood home and asked to direct traffic around the site. Steve’s wife, Melissa, was driving by the fire when disaster struck. Steve was hit full speed by a car that didn’t see him. An EMT herself, Melissa immediately ran to her husband to give him care. To date, Steve has had seven surgeries to try to repair the damage. Most of his problems with pain, balance and memory are not repairable, and he will probably never be able to work a full-time job again. Although Steve has regained his ability to walk, and retains his humorous personality, his family knows his life has changed forever. They live in a small 700 square foot crumbling trailer and Melissa is now the sole wage earner. They cannot afford to fix the home which they also share with their two growing daughters.

“DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES” — “Don’t Walk on the Grass” – Rules were made to be broken, on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives,” SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET). Bree begins to fall for Karl and drifts further from Orson; Katherine continues her sad attempts at seducing Mike, as her conflict with Susan grows; Gaby gets Juanita expelled from school; Lynette learns Tom is cheating on his mid-term, and Angie hides the truth about her mother.

“BROTHERS & SISTERS” – “Zen and the Art of Making Mole” — In the throes of chemo, Kitty is thrilled when a surprise visitor comes to town, while Sarah finally realizes that she has to tell her kids about Luc (Gilles Marini as Luc Laurent). Meanwhile, with Ryan and Rebecca’s help, Holly finds a way to keep her financial future from unraveling, and Kevin and Scotty finally agree on a possible surrogate (Roxy Olin as Michelle), on “Brothers & Sisters,” SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“CASTLE” — “Famous Last Words” — When an up-and-coming rock star’s body is found staged in a scene straight out of her hit music video, Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) delve into the world of obsessed fans, sleazy managers and jealous band members. But it’s only when Alexis (Molly Quinn) uncovers the true meaning behind the lyrics of the final song that the clues to the killer’s identity begin to surface, on ABC’s “Castle,” MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2 (10:02-11:00 p.m. ET).

“V” – “Pilot” — With huge spaceships simultaneously appearing over 29 major cities around the world, the Visitors (or V’s) promote a message of peace. Through their generous offer to share advanced technology, the V’s quickly build a following that may actually hide a more malevolent agenda. The series stars Elizabeth Mitchell as FBI Agent Erica Evans, Morris Chestnut as Ryan Nichols, Joel Gretsch as Father Jack, Lourdes Benedicto as Valerie, Logan Huffman as Tyler Evans, Laura Vandervoort as Lisa, with Morena Baccarin as Anna, the leader of the V’s, and Scott Wolf as news anchor Chad Decker.

SERIES PREMIERE, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET).

“THE FORGOTTEN” – “Railroad Jane” — After a female skull is discovered near a railroad track, The Forgotten Network canvasses the area in search of the remaining bones on ABC’s “the forgotten,” TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3 (10:01 – 11:00 p.m. ET). Information retrieved from an artificial kneecap takes the team to the Doe’s only remaining relative, her sister, who is in a coma as a result of a horrific attack. Further developments lead the team to believe that these sisters may have taken on false identities. If they were leading new lives, whom were they running from? What secrets is the coma preventing Jane Doe’s sister from telling us? And will the person responsible for these vicious acts come back and finish the job?

“HANK” – “Hanksgiving” – Hank’s worst holiday nightmare comes true when his mother-in-law comes to visit for the first annual suburban Pryor Family “Hanksgiving,” on “Hank,” WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“THE MIDDLE” – “The Front Door” — Frankie is caught in the middle when Axl accidentally breaks down the front door, and Mike insists that he fix it – which could leave the Heck house wide open for days. Meanwhile, Frankie must sell a car within a week or be forced to wear a dog suit outside the lot, and it’s school picture time for Sue, who has never had a flattering photo taken of her, on “The Middle,” WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4 (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“MODERN FAMILY” — “En Garde” – The whole family comes out to support Manny’s newfound interest – fencing. It turns out he’s quite masterful in this sport, but Jay’s prideful enthusiasm triggers an old childhood wound for Mitchell. Meanwhile Phil is determined to find where Luke’s hidden talents lie, on “Modern Family,” WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4 (9:00-9:30 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

“COUGAR TOWN” — “Don’t Come Around Here No More” – A reluctant date with an older man leads to a bet between Jules and Grayson, on ABC’s “Cougar Town,” WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4 (9:30-10:01 p.m., ET). When Grayson tells Jules she can’t spend an entire day by herself, she’s determined to prove him wrong… Unfortunately for Jules, this challenge is amusingly impossible to overcome.

“EASTWICK” – “Red Ants and Black Widows” — After Chad visits her one last time in a dream, a grieving Roxie resolves to fulfill his last wish — if she can figure out what it is. Hounded by Max (Jason George), her replacement at the Gazette, about her kidnapping ordeal, Joanna grapples with her own lingering questions while dodging his. And Kat, startled by a newfound ability, realizes that Bun’s old friend, Eleanor Rougement (Cybill Shepherd), may have answers for both of them, on “Eastwick,” WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“FLASHFORWARD” – “Gift” — Mark, Demetri, Gough and MI6 agent Fiona Banks (Alex Kingston, “ER”) investigate a Blue Hand club and its possible connection to some recent suicides. Meanwhile, Aaron receives a surprise visit from a former army buddy of his late daughter’s, Demetri comes clean with Zoey (Gabrielle Union) about his lack of a flashforward, and Nicole helps Bryce uncover the mystery of his flashforward while volunteering at the hospital, on “FlashForward,” THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“GREY’S ANATOMY” – “Invest in Love” — A generous donation is offered to Seattle Grace by the parents of Arizona’s 10-year-old patient. “EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION” – “Terpenning Family” — This week’s “Get on the Bus” celebrity volunteer will be Kellie Pickler in Ohio for the Terpenning family, on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET). James Terpenning, a wheelchair sports champion and mentor to disabled Iraqi War veterans, is a computer specialist at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Known at work and in the community as an inspirational role model who always helps others but never asks for help for himself, James was nominated for a new house by a Three-Star Air Force General who believes this humble man’s selfless service and patriotism deserve to be rewarded.

“DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES” — “Careful the Things You Say” – Susan believes Katherine may be Julie’s assailant, on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives,” SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET). Meanwhile, Angie invites a reluctant Bree and Orson to dinner; Gaby struggles to home school Juanita; Lynette has her own suspicions as to who attacked Julie; and Angie confronts Nick about the secret he’s withholding from her. “CASTLE” — “Kill the Messenger” — Castle and Beckett investigate the hit-and-run death of a bike messenger, brutally murdered to prevent him from delivering a package the contents of which could free a wrongly convicted man from prison. In a surprising twist of fate, this tragic death links to a murder case that Captain Montgomery (Ruben Santiago-Hudson) investigated a decade earlier. To solve the present murder, Castle and Beckett must dredge up the past by uncovering the secrets and scandals of a prominent New York family, on ABC’s “Castle,” MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9 (10:02-11:00 p.m. ET).

“V” – “There Is No Normal Anymore” — Erica and Father Jack, having quickly determined they’re both against the arrival of these Visitors, suddenly find themselves being tracked by a “Seeker” from the V’s on ABC’s “V,” TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET). “GREY’S ANATOMY” – “New History”– When Owen recruits his fellow Iraqi War vet, Dr. Teddy Altman (Kim Raver “24,” “Lipstick Jungle”), as the new cardiothoracic surgeon, Cristina questions Teddy’s abilities in the OR and the nature of their past relationship. Meanwhile at Oceanside Wellness, Charlotte, Cooper and Violet treat a newlywed who, out of nervousness for his wedding night, has taken too much Viagra, and Pete and Sheldon hit the bar scene together but fall for the same girl, on “Private Practice,” THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“UGLY BETTY” — “Backseat Betty” – Hilda’s bad-boy high school flame and Betty’s schoolgirl crush — Bobby Talercio (Adam Rodriguez) — teaches at Justin’s school, causing the sisters to both doubt their feelings for “nice guys” such as Archie (Ralph Macchio), in Hilda’s case, on ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET). Justin struggles to fit in at high school, and Marc advises him to befriend the mean girl-type cheerleaders, including Ava (Bonnie Dennison). “EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION” – “Stott Family” – Actor David Duchovny will “Get on the Bus” as the celebrity volunteer in Illinois for the Stott family, on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET). Thanks to a bone marrow transplant from an anonymous donor, Joey Stott miraculously survived leukemia and made a miraculous recovery. She and her family then pursued their dream of life on a self-sufficient organic farm that they’d fantasized about for years. But just as they’d made their dreams a reality, an electrical fire from faulty wiring threatened to destroy them permanently. The fire department arrived quickly enough to save the house, but warned that the same thing could happen again if the wiring wasn’t totally replaced. However, the family cannot afford to replace the home’s wiring. Joey, her husband, Philip, and their three children are terrified that they will have to leave the farm they love and abandon the dream they fought so hard to realize.

“DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES” — “The Coffee Cup” – Susan discovers a surprising connection between Mike and Katherine, which leads her to question her relationship with Mike, on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives,” SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET). “CASTLE” — “Love Me Dead” — The murder of an Assistant District Attorney thrusts Castle and Beckett into the world of ex-cons and escorts. But when Castle’s desire to help a vulnerable call girl endangers the case, Beckett is forced to decide between honoring his promises and putting the killer behind bars. Matters are complicated even further when Castle’s daughter shares a potentially explosive secret with Beckett instead of her father, on ABC’s “Castle,” MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16 (10:02-11:00 p.m. ET).

“V” – “A Bright New Day” – Chad reports from the Peace Ambassador Center as 100 diplomatic visas are being issued to the first wave of American Visitors, with Anna getting the 1^st, but not everyone agrees with the decision – Erica has started tracking a death threat while paired with a V officer, as she actually has to protect the V’s. Meanwhile, Ryan starts reaching out to his old friends to build up opposition forces and help fight-off the V’s, on ABC’s “V,” TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET).

“THE FORGOTTEN” — “Prisoner Jane” — The Forgotten Network takes the case of a Jane Doe found strangled to death in a warehouse, on ABC’s “the forgotten,” TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET). Her journey leads the team from addiction support groups to the inner workings of the legal system and ultimately to an inmate who may have been falsely imprisoned for murder. But was Jane Doe so blinded by her convictions that she got involved with the wrong people? Or was she trying to free a truly innocent man?

“HANK” – “Got It” – Hank has had it with Tilly’s annoying habit of saying “got it, got it, got it,” but is afraid to discuss the issue directly with her, so he recruits his ever-so-subtle brother-in-law, Grady, to approach her about the problem, on “Hank,” WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“THE MIDDLE” – “The Scratch” — When the Heck family goes into a cleaning frenzy in order to get the trash out to a passing garbage truck, Frankie accidentally hits Brick with a beer bottle as she attempts to toss it into a bag – causing a small scratch. But when Brick innocently informs his school that his scratch was caused by his mother throwing a beer bottle at him, a social worker is called to look into the matter – sending Frankie into a panic to give off the image that the Hecks are a picture-perfect family. Meanwhile, Bob must help an uncooperative Mr. Ehlert shoot a new commercial advertising the car lot, on “The Middle,” WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18 (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“MODERN FAMILY” — “Great Expectations” – With a history of giving bad gifts, Claire is determined to surprise Phil with an amazing anniversary present – a private performance by one of their favorite musicians, Izzy LaFontaine (Oscar-nominated Edward Norton)! However, it turns out to be unexpected in more ways than one. Meanwhile, Mitchell and Cameron call up their party-girl bestie, Sal (Elizabeth Banks), for a long overdue night out on the town, on “Modern Family,” WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18 (9:00-9:30 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

“EASTWICK” – “Paint and Pleasure” — Thrilled when Darryl arranges an art show for her work at his mansion — and invites New York art maven Greta Noa (Rosanna Arquette) — Roxie forgets that his motives might be less than pure. Joanna turns to her power to get her life back on track, but swiftly discovers that every action, magical or otherwise, has its consequences. And Kat, still unsure about how to move on from Ray, shies away from a budding romance with Will, on “Eastwick,” WEDNESDAY,

“UGLY BETTY” – “Level (7) With Me” — Daniel lets the leaders from the Community of the Phoenix call the shots at Mode, and Bennett’s promises on Daniel’s reuniting with his dead wife prompt Betty to action on ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET). She schemes with Claire on how to break through to him with an ingenious plan and finds unlikely allies in Matt and Amanda.
