CBS ORDERS MORE EPISODES OF FRESHMAN COMEDY “ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE”

On the heels of last night’s broadcast which matched a series high adult 18-34 rating, CBS has ordered an additional five episodes of its freshman comedy ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE, bringing its season order to 18.

ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE is averaging 8.04 million viewers, 3.1/07 in adults 18-49 and 3.7/08 in adults 25-54 in its Monday (8:30-9:00 PM) time period, according to Nielsen most current ratings.

Last night’s broadcast, against game 5 of the World Series, matched its series high in adults 18-34 (2.5/07).

ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE, starring Jenna Elfman, Ashley Jensen, Jon Foster, Grant Show, Lennon Parham and Nicolas Wright, is produced by CBS Television Studios.  Claudia Lonow, Lloyd Braun, Gail Berman and Gene Stein are executive producers.

  1. Tony says:

    : )

Ive been waiting for this anouncement!

  2. Dan says:

I knew it, I said today the series would get additional episodes 17-20. The order of 18 episodes is likely due to make room for Rules of Engagement which returns March.

  3. Trent says:

Pretty much what I have been saying the last 3 weeks. The order was just 5 when I thought it would only be 3.

  4. Dan says:

I didnt think it would be 3. Worst Week was 3 extra eps but it was more expensive to produce and had a set storyline. While Accidentally has a similiar pregnancy story line, its cheaper so CBS could keep it on for a little longer and then its in with the Rules replacement.

  5. Shena says:

    I love this show!

  6. David Spade Rules says:

So what does this mean for Rules of Engagement seeing as the new CBS comedy didn’t tank? Is it going to be running over the summer or will it slot in during breaks in the schedule when new episodes of HIMYM, TAAHM or TBBT aren’t on?

  7. Trent says:

Rules of Engagement is going to air starting in March. It will air pretty much 13 consecutive episodes.

  8. Dan says:

Trent – if AOP airs 8 straight new episodes from January 4-February 22, Rules can return on March 1 and either air 13 consecutive episodes or if their are repeats or premptions air a couple of new episodes in place of Gary Unmarried repeats like last year.

  9. Riff Rafferty says:

David Spade Rules writes, “So what does this mean for Rules of Engagement seeing as the new CBS comedy didn’t tank?”

It means it’s probably the last season.

  10. Fritz says:

Glad to hear this. Great show. Funny cast and writing.

  11. Rusty says:

Why would anyone watch this show, it’s horrible. How can you sit through this mess?
