Ratings predictions for V

Posted on 03 November 2009 by Robert Seidman

V 2009

At long last, V finally airs tonight, and I will re-watch at least the first 9.5 minutes just to see the opening on the big screen in high definition.  I liked the pilot, but I’m not expecting much from the next few episodes that follow based on the reported turmoil with show production.

The good news for V is that ABC did give it a bit of promotion.  We weren’t pelted with it for 3 months like we were with Flash Forward, but I saw lots of promos for it on ABC and ESPN.  More good news, there’s no World Series game up against it or NFL football.  It does face off against the beat that is Leroy Jethro Gibbs NCIS as well as The Biggest Loser and So You Think You Can Dance, but,I suppose it could’ve been worse.

I always seem to predict too conservatively, and this might not be an exception. With that caveat, my guess is 9.25 million average audience and a 3.2 adults 18-49 rating in the overnight numbers.

  1. Knope Knows says:

I’m feeling like this could be a big show for ABC. Emphasis on could be. Though I wasn’t the least bit interested in FlashForward, I have this odd intrigue about V. (And I tend to not care for science fiction).

I’m almost thinking this one could premiere to 11-12 million.

  2. Matt says:

    12.34 million 3.9/10

  3. Christopher says:

    I’m gonna go with 8.75 million and a 2.8

  4. Derelict Zombie says:

I have been watching the original series on Syfy and am extremely pumped about this new show. Not to mention how much I like Morena Baccarin and Elizabeth Mitchell, I really hope it’s great and does well.

  5. usedtolovecoco says:

I predict 8 million but I hope that you guys are the ones that are right. Go Morena! Morena so awesome.

  6. Samantha says:

    11.38 million 3.7 18-49. And as a bonus, 9.72 million and 3.3 18-49 for next week.

  7. Christopher says:

I loved the original and I am hopeful for this, but I watched the first 9.5 minutes and wasn’t impressed. I felt very underwhelmed.

  8. johnthemon says:

I’m guessing in the 3.6-4.1 range.

  9. johnthemon says:

as for viewers I’m gonna say 9-11 million, I think it will skew fairly young.

  10. Parenthood says:

Hey Fringe premiered with 9 million! I think this could be ABC’s next Lost.

  11. Jared says:

    10 million-ish. 3.0

  12. Marcos says:

    3.6 A18-49
    10.5 million

  13. G says:

I’m going to guess 8 million and 2.5 demo. Probably way off. :)

  14. Julia says:

I’m guessing it’ll be lucky to hit 3.0. I see it at 2.7.

  15. Tommy says:

I’m going to be optimistic and say 10.5 million total viewers and a 3.8 Demo

  16. Victor Hugo says:

Wow! I hope at least 10 million but my prediction is 10- 13 million viewers and 3.5-40 (18-49)

  17. Mib815 says:

This is the hardest guess out of all the newbies but I will go with 10.2 mil and a 3.3 18-49

  18. Vitor Fernando says:

my guess is very close to your`s. my guess is 9.50mil and 3.4 in the demo.

  19. melbye says:

I predict big numbers first episode, but then it fail week to week

  20. RJ says:

    6.83 million / 2.2 demo

  21. CK says:

It think it has overall similiar appeal and awareness as FlashForward. V should have just a slight tick higher in total numbers due to nostalgia: 12.5 million total. The demo (many of whom were barely alive in 1984) will be about the same as FlashForward: 4 million or so.

  22. TinoFlux says:

    9.80 milion

P.S. I think that ratings will drop because of long hiatus.

  23. Cullen says:

    2.9

  24. Bfan says:

It’s so not about this week, but next week.

With that, I’ll give it a 9.1 and 2.7 (and I think I’m being generous).

  25. azguy says:

    3.2

  26. The1337 says:

    I’m guessing 10 million and 3.5.

  27. Tom says:

I will really go out on a limb here and predict 15 million viewers and a 4.8 demo rating.

    Its likely gonna be lower…

10m and 3.0 demo is a safe prediction, but I say it does better because:

    1) A huge marketing blitz by ABC. Is there anything other show that’s been promoted so heavily?

    2) A built in audience (albiet a much older one as I was only 8 when it came out in 1984, and at 33 yrs old, can’t wait to see it)

    3) There are several good reviews already.

  28. Jason says:

    For million…I say between 8 and 10 or 11 million. For rating…I say between 3.0 and 4.0

  29. Tom says:

You people seriously think it will do that poorly? Flashforward had ~12 mil with a 4.1 for the first 45 mins (the last 15 was higher, but it could have been Grey’s so I’m not counting it), WITHOUT any nostalgia component.

13 mil, 4.0. And it could easily be higher than that.

    Next week, 3.0. Maybe.

  30. lethargic says:

I predict a 0.0 in Nashville since our ABC affiliate won’t be showing it.

  31. Quinn says:

I think the show will get some significant sampling. Has pretty good buzz, no world series game tonight, and Elizabeth Mitchell. I’m going with 12.5mil Total Viewers, and a 4.1/12 in the demo. Probably at the higher end of its potential range but I think the stars are lining up just right for it.

  32. Chris says:

    Slow sports night so:

4.6 demo with 13.7 million viewers

  33. RM89 says:

    12.56 million viewers
    3.3 A18-49

  34. Bill Gorman says:

It’s got to start higher than a 3.0 rating, ABC’s average this season is a 3.0. If it premieres at a 3.0, it’s probably in big trouble. FWIW, Eastwick debuted with a 3.0.

I will guess a 4.0 which was FlashForward’s premiere rating.

  35. Tom says:

Julia and RJ, perhaps u should change your screen names to Debbie Downer and Bob Bummer. Woah woah woah!

  36. spotupj says:

    8.01 m, 3.0 A18-49

  37. Lester's Fan says:

    13.5 million 4.4 A18-49

  38. Eastwick had a nice lead-in for its premiere, I’ll be very surprised if V premieres as well as Flash Forward, but I will not be at all surprised if it premieres somewhere between that and my 3.2 prediction. On its side in addition to no World Series or NFL vs. Flash Forward is the end of Daylight Saving Time, but that applies to all its competition at 8pm as well.

  39. the128boy says:

    3.3 premiere

    sub-3.0 next week

    mid-to-low 2s by week 4…

  40. Scott R. says:

Did anyone else watch this show a decade ago, you know, when it was called Earth: Final Conflict?

  41. kariato says:

    >lethargic says: November 3, 2009 at 3:20 pm
    >I predict a 0.0 in Nashville since our ABC affiliate won’t be showing it.

I believe that ABC should drop kicked WKRN out of the franchise. They won’t but stupidity like this should be grounds for voiding a franchise. I’m sure that another UHF channel would love to have that franchise.

  42. Scott R. says:

Anyway, low viewership night, but that also means low competion. I’m going to go with a conservative 3.8/11.

  43. Sean says:

I think that it’ll get around a 3.6 rating and 11.1 million viewers.

  44. Charles says:

    9.56 million 3.2 demo

  45. Steven says:

    10.05 million viewers and a 3.1.

But after it comes back next year I expect a ratings plunge followed by cancellation.

  46. Parenthood says:

15 million because it has better reviews than FlashForward did. Also, some people will be watch who otherwise don’t watch tv because of the nastalgia factor.

  47. Altair says:

I guess it’s going to be about 8.50 ML with 3.4/9 on 18-49.

  48. dj says:

    14.53 million. 8.5 households rating

  49. Harold says:

Scott R. says at November 3, 2009 at 3:37 pm:

“Did anyone else watch this show a decade ago, you know, when it was called Earth: Final Conflict?”

Or the decade before that when “Earth: The Final Conflict” was called “V” and “V: The Final Battle” with the addition of reveals like Diana eating a guinea pig in “V” and the reptile baby in “Final Battle?” Nothing remotely that interesting in “Final Conflict.”

Lots of talking in “Final Conflict,” though. Almost as much as in a non-Abrams “Star Trek” movie. The true “Final Conflict” was falling asleep vs. staying awake when it was on.

Back to the subject, I have no guess, but ABC seems to have reached its sci-fi saturation point by now. It already has its hands full trying to keep “FlashForward” interesting, and it’s not doing a particularly good job of it.

  50. Parenthood says:

Robert, would you be surprised if it got 15 million why or why not?

  51. Tom says:

    27 million. 10.8 18-49

    YEAH!

  52. Terry says:

    i expect at least 10.5 and a 3.8

  53. Josh Emerson says:

    11.1 million viewers, 3.8 demo

  54. Parenthood says:

Harold, V is a less complicated concept than FlashForward. The trouble with FlashForward is it has too many twists and turns that are too comlex that no one can make heads or tales out of it. That’s what lead Heroes to it’s creative freefall. Just based on the concept alone, V is less messy than FlashForward or Heroes.

  55. Sausageroll says:

Some people seem to be forgetting the mainstream public don’t really go crazy for outright science fiction with aliens and spaceships.
The cancellation of “Invasion” is still fresh in my mind however.

  56. RJ says:

QUOTE: Julia and RJ, perhaps u should change your screen names to Debbie Downer and Bob Bummer. Woah woah woah! END QUOTE

The show looks awful IMO, so I guessed low. I watched that 8 minute preview, and I don’t want anymore.

  57. Paul PT says:

    9.79 3.2

  58. ABCHasProblems says:

    8.76 million and a 3.1 demo.

I wish ABC would’ve aired the pilot episode of V after the season finale of DWTS and air the remaining episodes after the Olympics. A similar strategy has proven to be a success for FOX and Glee as that show already has an established fanbase and receives consistent ratings every week.

  59. Tony says:

13.42 million viewers and demos around 4.0

  60. Parenthood says:

RJ, a lot of the tv critics gave V high praises

  61. imkeh says:

I saw the pilot at Comic-Con and people were so excited but that may have been just general Comic-Con delirium. :)

I didn’t think V was anything to get excited about. I loved Morena Baccarin but man that pilot had a lot of tweaking needed. I’m going to watch just to see the difference.

This is the first time I’m doing this. We’ll see shall we?

    13 mil, A 3.8

  62. IWIN says:

    14.5 million 5.1

  63. daniel patrick says:

    10 mil and 3.8

  64. Mark says:

    14.82 million

    4.1 18-49

  65. thedemonhog says:

I don’t know how things are going in the States, but here in Vancouver, Canada, I have never seen more bus stop advertisements for a single thing than all of the ads that I have seen for V. Driving home just 3.5 kilometres or two miles yesterday, I counted nine.

Did anyone else read the reports about how ABC had planned to promote V with the sky images, but pulled out because they were afraid it would start panics? Anyway, they must have used that money to promote it heavily through other means, so I think that Lester’s Fan had a good guess. How about 4.3 and 13.076 million?

  66. 3.1

Nashville gets “V” at 12:06 after Jimmy Kimmel.

    Yes, next week too.

  67. Jeff says:

Couldn’t argue with the expert, those numbers sound like they’ll be exactly right – unless they have a Heroes-like premiere and pull 15 million… but that just doesn’t seem likely.

  68. Victor Hugo says:

    My final prediction :

    13.42 and 4.1/13 (18-49)

  69. forg says:

9.8 million and a 3.1 demo. I hope its higher but it’s up against NCIS

  70. Nick says:

    10.11 with a 3.6

  71. Stacy says:

    12.04 3.9

  72. So Cal says:

    11.20 with a 3.6

  73. j says:

Reviews indicate the show to be slightly worse than Southland. Though quality does not = viewers (i.e. Mad Men) so who knows.

  74. Kermonk says:

But whatever happened to Stargate Underwhelmed?

  75. johnthemon says:

@Parenthood, yep reviews are what matter. Because that’s what saved Pushing Daisies, Life on Mars, Dirty Sexy Money, Kings and Southland.

  76. Mumbo says:

Although I don’t want to sound like I’m ripping off the article, it’s pretty much what I was thinking.

3.3 and 10 million just so it’s not exactly the same.

NCIS and Biggest Loser, no lead-in, and ABC’s Tuesday night being the equivalent of CBS’s Sunday night mean it won’t be ginormous. But it has had a very nice marketing push, so.

  77. Aquat1c F1sh says:

I’m going to guess 11.57 million viewers and a 3.7 in the demo.

  78. Adam says:

    15 million and a 4.2

I hear a lot more people around me talking about this show then Flash Forward.

  79. romo says:

    V will beat Leno…lol.

  80. Dan says:

    12.97 million viewers

  81. Dan says:

    4.1 in the demo

  82. forg says:

V’s premise has more mass appeal than FlashForward though and with the marketing push it could get huge numbers but then again what’s keeping from predicting a higher ratings is NCIS.

  83. Aquat1c F1sh says:

I’m going to guess that NCIS and V appeal to different viewers… Though just how different is the question. :/

  84. Kenny says:

I think the show will do good in premiere these is my prediction:

PREMIERE EPISODE 12-14 million viewers == 4.0-4.5 DEMO
SECOND EPISODE 10-12 million viewers == 3.5-4.0 DEMO
THIRD EPISODE 8-9 million viewers == 2.5-3.0 DEMO

I like the plot, but first of all it’s against NCIS, and as we all know that show is a little famous, and maybe the concept will get slow as flash forward, but I hope the show does really good

  85. Scott R. says:

    Forg-

How is it that Sci-Fi has a broader appeal than Action-Thriller? I think the opposite is true.

  86. Dan says:

V could perform well now but its large break doesnt bode well for the series performance.

  87. shelly says:

I have to go with Julia on this one – no way will it get such high demo numbers when it’s going up against NCIS

  88. shelly says:

I accidentally hit enter before finishing my post, sorry for spamming. I don’t see V and NCIS having vastly different demographics at all. NCIS might skew somewhat older than V but it’s still quite the demo beast to contend with. My guess is V will get a large number of viewers but won’t do significantly well in the demos, somewhere around a 2.7 to 3.0 if it’s lucky.

  89. aznfratboy says:

    I’d say around 12.5m and a 4.0 demo

  90. cool says:

    12.85 million
    4.7 A18-49

  91. BrianM says:

I’m not good with the numbers, but I think the premiere will be huge, as the original was on NBC. But where can it go from here, plotwise? Can it be anything other than a never-ending insurgence against the aliens? That’s what doomed the series version of the original. I know there were similar worries with “Lost,” that it would be a dramatic version of “Gilligan’s Island.” And those guys have been brilliant in turning out something never before seen.

  92. It’s a very rough night, but I’ll say what I want V to reach:

    16 millions / 4,5 18-49

I hope there will be the nostalgia factor.

I Know it’s been the end of the networks era and the big numbers like the first season of Lost, Desperate Housewives & Grey’s Anatomy, but I expected this drama to be the sensation of this season.

  93. veritas says:

Obviously it will do well. It’s a huge brand-name and has been promoted out the wazoo. If it was on the Syphilis Channel that alone could keep it running for five years. On ABC though how it does after the premiere will tell the tale.

  94. Lucky says:

Because this is my kind of show and I like the stars, I will guess and optimistic 13 million w/a 4.5. I think it will play well to 18-34, teens, older demos that like the original, male viewers and Juliet-LOST maniacs-like me. Also, you can’t under estimate the power of the Disney marketing machine, even if they did dump the sky writers.

  95. Parenthood says:

The best pilot of any tv show in a long while!

  96. 1PartOfA3Some says:

I think 11 million with awesome demos but sadly I think it will drop off fast for the second show. It will maybe hold up good enough for a full season but I’m not expecting much. Lots of people I like on there so unless it’s terrible I’ll be sticking with it for a few weeks for sure.

  97. cool says:

ABC shows always premiere well (Eastwick, FF) so I can see hitting good numbers and since when NCIS is younger skewing?

  98. scott says:

    10.50m – 3.0 18-49.

  99. starmud says:

ABC has been making a huge push in the last 48 hours to seal the deal. they’ve had ad’s running on all the major websites over the last day up to its premiere.

a lot of print ads have gone up in the last few days as well.

overall it seems to have gotten a good amount of hype, more so than any other new show that has debuted this season. i’ve seen the show pop up as a topic with a lot of different people and within very different social circles.

i cant see how it dosent at least break 10m+ viewers.

much of the initial buzz online from east cost viewers seems to be very positive.

  100. forg says:

Scott R: Base from the trailer, yes the show is sci-fi but the concept of alien invasion is more appealing people if I base it on movies about aliens that did well in the box office and the teasers for V were blockbuster movie-like. The concept of FlashForward is a little bit more complicated compared to aliens. So initial interest I think is higher for this one.

NCIS is mostly older skewing but it’s still pulling a 4.5+ demo, so still impressive on today’s TV and a tough competition for V. And there’s also Biggest Loser but I think V’s premiere could beat it like how FlashForward beat Survivor when it premiered.

  101. baqinardo says:

    I think it’s around 4.2 with 11.34 M.

  102. Nehalem says:

    4,8 – 5,2

    17 millions

  103. Tim says:

I can’t believe some idiot dropped the ball and preempted programming of V for a Titans interview/recap show in the Nashville area. It will be shown at 12:05 but it’s still gonna hurt the numbers here.

  104. Shem says:

    12.69 mil- 4.6 A 18-49

  105. Cimmer says:

Nostalgia will rule the evening; 10.5 million.

  106. R.G says:

    11.2 million; 3.3 rating

  107. Junior G. says:

No offense Robert, but I think that number is too underrated. 11.476 million to 12 is my guess.

  108. usedtolovecoco says:

“Some people seem to be forgetting the mainstream public don’t really go crazy for outright science fiction with aliens and spaceships.”

Agreed, but, the promos have all emphasized the human aspect. Lots of reaction shots like boy looking at girl, girl looking at boy and smiling, Scott Wolf with that interview… so, it may be sci-fi about aliens, but it’s not really being sold that way. I think it’ll pull in way more people than the standard Star Trek type shows.

  109. Hurley's Dad says:

    I’ll go 10.9 and 3.8 18-49

LOVE the opening homage to LOST….Elizabeth Mitchell’s eye opening is a good start to help bring us Losties in.

  110. derrick says:

With nothing on the other channels but NCIS

    I say 14.2 million

  111. Joe Jackson says:

It is up against a 400 pound gorilla (NCIS), I’ll go with 7.876M

  112. Sylvia Knowles says:

Very Cool show! I hope it’s a success.

  113. thedemonhog says:

Anyone who thinks that being against NCIS hurts its chances needs to remember that NCIS has been against American Idol.

  114. Aeralon says:

Just saw the pilot and i am very interested and excited for this show now. I wonder why ABC doesn’t see potential in it?

  115. ABCFanatic2009 says:

    12million viewers

  116. Saltysails says:

What a FANTASTIC show! I can not wait until next week. Only wish it were two hours long…..one is not enough.

  117. Chris Biscan says:

that was pretty awesome..It got me better than FF did.

    I change my prediction.

    14.5 mil viewers.

    5.1 demo

  118. daniel patrick says:

so mad! i missed it cause of some dumb dinner party
are they gonna show it again on friday or saturday or do i have to watch it on hulu?

  119. igotid88 says:

I’m hoping for double digits. 11-15 million

  120. Tory says:

I’m going high and will guess 14.42 mil with a 3.9 demo

  121. Shouzheng says:

My guess is 11.25 million average audience and a 3.7 adults 18-49 rating.

  122. Chucksmom says:

    3.0
    11 total

  123. John says:

I’m gonna say 11.5 million viewers with a 3.7 demo

  124. Tks says:

While I enjoy most scifi. I was a bit dissapointed. It seems they let the lizard out of the bag a lttle early. Where is the susspence from the first one and the big reveal. I’ll still watch but dontt think it’s going to be a huge. Sucess. I was hopeing something a little more gritty bsg style

  125. asander says:

    10.5 mil 3.1 rating

  126. Dixie says:

I predict the overnight ratings will not be as good as hoped, because it was preempted in more than one market by local programming. With the show airing at midnight instead. This will continue for the first three episodes in the Nashville, TN market. It was also preempted in a Wisconsin market for a local program.

  127. Adrian UK says:

I’d expect about 10.5mill based on it is past. A lot of people after watching the first episode are complaining about the rushness of the episode ie: Hello we’re aliens, 3 weeks later. But then i suppose we all kinda know the plot anyhow.

Personally i liked it, nowhere near as good as the original, but lets forget that and give this one the chance it deserves.

  128. aok says:

It might start off strong, but let’s be realistic, the original only lasted one season. It was because of this coupled with the fact no other redo in recent years has worked I wondered why they picked V of all shows to try to redo.

  129. vsaint says:

V was similar to FLashforward. Seemed rushed alittle, ok but nothing great.

  130. Connor says:

    10 Million round about.

  131. Mumbo says:

“But then i suppose we all kinda know the plot anyhow.”

Yeah, that’s on purpose. They’re trying to get through the material we all know about quickly so they can get to their own story.

Pilots for a show like this are always pretty crammed, I’ll watch all four episodes and then make a verdict.

  132. jocor says:

    13.24 and a 3.1

  133. grr_argh says:

    11.5 mill with a 4.0

  134. Ali says:

    My guess would be 10.25 Million and a 3.5 – 4.0 Rating

  135. Tar says:

    14.5 Million viewers

  136. Mickey says:

    I think 12.092 and a 3.6 rating.

  137. Michael J says:

    8 million with a 3.1

  138. Samuel says:

    11-12 millions, 3.5-4.0

FlashForward did way better than expected, my guess is V could do the same.

  139. Nando says:

    8.5 million scoring a 3.0

  140. Bryan says:

    I guess over 15 million and 4.2/11

  141. skylar says:

    12 million, a 3.9

hoping for that or higher, as I really enjoyed the show. My favorite new show of the fall.

  142. Andy says:

My guess, 10 people total. Who gives a rip about more crap network shows!

  143. RViewer says:

    9.97millions and a demo of 3.3

  144. cougarman says:

hope it will last more than 4 episodes.

  145. cougarman says:

    Rviewer
is that the real ratings and demo?

  146. Michael K. MacGonegal says:

9,000,000 is a fiar estimate. But, the real question should be not what ratings this show gets. Rather, how long will it take for our own Anna and his minions to yank it off the air? This considering the plot relations to our own annointed one – a sudden appearance then whole-hearted worship, the prettiness of the package, and even promises of a single payer health care system. The possibility of this show being cancelled suddenly is very real as our own nation’s Anna does not like critical opinion nor do his minions. But, being it is not on GE/NBC, it might last a few weeks.

  147. Jeff Sorensen says:

Finally, something on Tuesday other than the Senior Citizen show that is NCIS.

  148. Ricardo says:

2.7 and about 9 million. Hope I’m wrong and it has 3.5 or more.

  149. Elaniel says:

    I think it will get 11.2 million viewers with a 3.6 18-49.

  150. Mike says:

    18 million total viewers

  151. Jasterisk says:

    15.7 million 3.8 share

  152. Mike says:

“Preliminary ratings for V premiere have arrived: The ABC reboot opened big, finishing a strong No. 2 to NCIS. More to come..”

    http://twitter.com/EWAusielloFiles/status/5420883150

I was really hoping for a #1…Oh well

  153. RViewer says:

    to cougarman:

    No, just my guess :)

  154. forg says:

Can’t wait to see the numbers. I wonder why Ausiello didn’t give numbers on his tweet.

  155. Seppy says:

Ill say 9.45 million for the first 1/2 hour, 8.99 for the second 1/2 hour. Next episode will be in the 7 mill range. The ratings will fall consistently week by week and cancelled after this season, possibly renewed but wont last a full 2nd season. A harse prediction, but I couldnt get into it. It was just mildly interesting. I certainly wasnt blown away by any means. The poor sci-fi genre. My favorite genre, and no one can do a really great show with it anymore. I think its cause all ideas are used up. Bringing back a old idea probably isnt going to work.

  156. Ron Roberts says:

Michael K. MacGonegal, you SERIOUSLY brought politics to this discussion?

Well, okay, let me counter your insipid post with a casual reminder…

In the prior administration, the news media was “spun” to have us believe we had to engage in a conflict we actually didn’t have to; we were ‘encouraged’ to shop and spend “or the enemy wins” after 9/11; we had millions “frightened” to the polls in 2004 or the spooky gays would marry and take over society with their sick, wicked, sinister ways. We watched while they used FOX News as their personal information channel, meanwhile blackballing any network who dared to question them. Contrary opinion was supressed, labaled as “unpatriotic, un-American” and frankly, had we had MORE “un-American” dialogue, we mightn’t be in Iraq spinning our wheels going and getting nowhere at $30 billion per month.

But I’m SURE you see it differently.

Back to topic – saw the show, thought the premise was cool, but also thought the story actually moved along a little TOO fast, for me. I mean, really… an FBI agent discovers what she did and instead of working within her agency’s confines, she’s already set to put together a “resistance?” This is a show that the ‘BSG’ mindset would/should have been asked to pilot, I think. Handheld cameras, less operatic music, etc., to me would’ve made the show feel more “real” than it did.

I don’t think this will be much of a hit.

  157. X-R.G. says:

How about a BIG FAT “0″…at least where we live…they PRE-EMPTED “V’ (or cancelled it) – Lame-o local Affiliate have these stupid Interview programs during football season with Titan Coach Jeff Fisher…every Tuesday at 7pm (we’re in Central time)…these Ya-hoo’s in Middle Tennesee (and south Kentucky) just eliminate ANYTHING Sept-Dec to interview JEFF FISHER – who has only won ONE game this year…This area is so caught up in their friggin tiny Cow-poke enviroment that they have no concept of what is going on outside their own back yard…

  158. JR says:

NCIS was new last week- and, come on, we couldn’t expect it to getr as high as NCIS (which has gone as high as 20m-21m this season).

Hopefully it cracked 10m at least. I liked it (I also liked the 80s mini-series and less-stellar weekly series).

  159. Mike says:

I still say it’s got to be about 18 million. The tweet did state it opened big and finished a strong #2 to NCIS. So it could be about right.

  160. X-R.G. says:

60 minutes with jeff fisher – s-i-x-t-y minutes…?????? I think we need the “V” aliens to take up the ding bats that run these local affiliates…AND FOR CRYIN OUT LOUD can you sync up the sound with what they are saying…it looks like i watch a bad dubbed chinese monster movies EVERY NIGHT!

  161. X-R.G. says:

How will it affect the ratings if ALL OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE & SOUTH KENTUCKY didn’t see it or get the option to EVER see it???

  162. Jane says:

According to the first numbers, V will be between 11 and 12.5 million viewers. NCIS is down to something between 18 and 19.5 million.

  163. Alex says:

    7.88 Million/2.9

  164. pisher says:

Premiere ratings test the promotional campaign.

It’s the ratings after that that test the show itself.

    ;)

  165. Chris says:

NCIS could of gotten 19 mil with a 4 demo

    while V gets 13 mil with a 4.5 to 5.0 demo.

I think they need to have FF and V on the same night…

  166. DrDrew says:

I have family from South Kentucky who get their ABC out of Lexington which is Northern Ky if you did not know. They got V last night and thought it was very good. I watched it and could tell very easily it was a BBC thing because it just had the same kind of feel Doctor Who has. Kind of tough to describe. You can tune in and anything can happen. They really do not have to follow a certain plot because anyone can be a V. Personally I think around 17 million with a 3.8 rating is probably what came of it but I really enjoyed the show about the only one on ABC I watch.

  167. Probably too many. ;-)

My wife was really into the original so I’ve had to put up with “Joan Collins Writes Star Wars” for the last few days – I keep escaping to the bedroom, but you can’t do that all the time.

I have to say I find it ironic really. The original premise was that the show was supposed to be about a Nazi take-over of the US. Then it was changed to be aliens. So it goes from being a warning about Nazis to becoming Nazi propaganda of the type Goebbels would have been proud of (foreigners – in this case aliens – can’t be trusted, they have secret conspiracies to take over the world, trust your base instincts about people who look different to you and I, etc, etc.)

I really have no desire to watch the remake as allegedly it’s all of the above with a bit of “They’re a bit like Obama, aren’t they my teabagger friends?” mixed in. I’d love to be told differently though.

  168. JR says:

Why exactly are some outlets not showing it? I read one review that said it could be cntroversial (because of terrorist commentary and the Vistors being here for years in the guise of humans? That part is different from the original).

  169. MRWood says:

    I’m guessing 10.25 mil viewers and a 3.8 share

  170. batman says:

chants … bsg replacement for my schedule bsg replacement for my schedule bsg replacement for my schedule bsg replacement for my schedule hazzah hazzah hazzah :D .

  171. MRWood says:

Does anyone know when it will be available on Hulu?

  172. Rob in Tampa says:

This show is a joke. They stole Kenny Johnson’s creation and turned it into a mockery. Read his new book to see a great new generation of V. I turned the channel half-way through, because it is such low grade quality, like watching tons of low-budget sci-fi stuff on the sci-fi channel. Boo, hope this fizzles out soon to spare us the suffering.

  173. X-R.G. says:

I just called the local affiliate that didn’t air it- this is how out of touch they are…they said

it’s online NOW at ABC.com…(wrong again – they air it Sat with Commentary so I don’t even know if I see it w/o commentary)!!

It will air the next 2 weeks at 12:05 am and they sent Memos out to let everyone know… (what…? MEMOS??? well I didn’t get that memo…do you send them out to all your viewers?????)

They posted it on their LOCAL NEWS 2 web site (wrong AGAIN Cow-patty, -I was there to see when you would run it and it was not posted…not last night AND NOT NOW!!!!)

Her final response…okay well they said it was but I’ll let them know it’s not up…. (WHAT ???- you have to let them know they didn’t put it up!!?? – they SHOULD already know!!!!) lame!!!! Get me outta here – how did YOU people get to run an ABC affiliate? ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  174. Mel says:

Why do you HOPE it fizzles? Some of us actually like the show. If you don’t like it, then don’t watch.
Are we still predicting or is 11-12.5 million already established?
I’ll guess 13-15. It was a great pilot IMO, much, much better than flashforward.

  175. Mel says:

    8 p.m.

CBS: “NCIS” (19.4 million viewers, 11.7/18 households)
    ABC: “V” series premiere (13.9 million, 8.5/13)
NBC: “The Biggest Loser” (8.5 million, 5.3/8)
FOX: “So You Think You Can Dance” (6.4 million, 4.0/6)
    The CW: “90210″ (2.1 million, 1.5/2)

    18-49 leader: “V” (5.0)

  176. Michael K. MacGonegal says:

Ron Roberts above makes my point most succinctly. The worshipers who would appear and do appear in a crisis turning the mundane and programmable situation into a religeous experience do exist in our society. As a political scientist and Sci Fi fan the existence of this latest iteration of the “V” topic will be interesting to watch. Again, will the sensitivity of the present annointed president cause the network to cancell this series prior to numbers requiring a cancellation due to the fact the plot comes too close to the White House as it stands in reality?

  177. Joe says:

Michael: The Obama/V parallels seem overblown to me. They also said thta the V had been “starting unnecessary wars,” which was obviously a reference to GWB. So I think it’s just building from our present world, including what’s gone on in the last 10 years and what’s going on now (mortgage crisis, etc. were mentioned as well).

  178. JayS says:

5.0 rating for adults 18-49 and averaged 13.9 million viewers, lol

  179. Bruce says:

Thought it was very well done. Moved along very fast but that was probably due to it being a remake and the surprise of the aliens being reptiles is no big surprise to anyone.

The parallels to Obama and the media were very amusing to say the least right down to universal healthcare and Anna saying not to portray them in a negative light. But I am not the only one saying it…
