GOOGLE CELEBRATES SESAME STREET’S 40th ANNIVERSARY
Sesame Workshop and Google Join Forces in Creation of Original “Google Doodles”
Featuring the Beloved Sesame Street Muppets
New York, November 4, 2009 — In honor of Sesame Street’s 40th anniversary on November 10, Google, an innovator in the world of technology, has partnered with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, to create original “Google doodles.” Starting today, Google will feature photographic depictions of the Sesame Street Muppets with the Google logo on its home page from November 4-10.
The popular search engine has been creating “Google doodles,” modifications to their official logo pegged to national holidays, major events and famous people’s birthdays, since 1998. The partnership with Sesame Street will be featured on the Google home page in multiple countries.
Web users who click on the Sesame Street doodle will get search results for “Sesame Street” where they will be able to link to the series’ popular website, www.sesamestreet.org which features games and videos for kids, content for parents as well as content that celebrates the premiere of the show’s 40th season.
“What an incredible way to head into our official anniversary,” added Gary E. Knell, President and CEO, Sesame Workshop. “Sesame Street transformed the television landscape and Google has done the same in the world of technology.”
“Google doodles aim to celebrate events and anniversaries around the world, while reflecting the personality, interests, and spirit of Google employees,” said Marissa Mayer, Vice President of Search Products and User Experience. “We’re excited to celebrate Sesame Street’s 40th anniversary by featuring their well-known characters on the Google home page this week. Sesame Street is a wonderful partner, sharing our values of education, diversity and accessibility.”

I love your Google Doodles; your artist is very creative. I go into Google everyday; so whenever I see a change in the logo, I have to check what the special event is. So I love the fact that I can click on the logo and go to check on the event. You’ve helped expand my knowledge base. Way to go, Google!
