All in the name of ratings! Hey, if the Weather Channel can air The Wizard of Oz, James Lipton can interview musicians rather than actors.

BRAVO’S “INSIDE THE ACTORS STUDIO” KICKS OFF ITS 16TH SEASON WITH LEGENDARY ROCK BAND BON JOVI

Superstars Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan And

Tico Torres To Guest On Monday, November 16 At 8 PM ET/PT

NEW YORK – November 5, 2009 – In a rare, intimate appearance, the members of Bon Jovi grace the stage of Bravo’s “Inside The Actors Studio” Monday, November 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.  Instruments in hand, the New Jersey natives reflect on their illustrious 26-year career together, each discussing their personal struggles along the way and describing how it was the band that ultimately held them together. Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan, and Tico Torres answer all of James Lipton’s probing questions, pausing only to demonstrate their musical skill with a few of their greatest hits from the past three decades.

Bon Jovi has sold more than 120 million albums and has played over 3000 concerts to over 32 million fans in roughly 50 countries. Yet many of their greatest hits came from the partnership of Bon Jovi and Sambora working together in the basement of Richie’s mother’s house. The musicians reflect on the strong friendship they have developed over the years, as well as the individual side projects each is committed to.

“was the first television service dedicated to film and the performing arts when it launched in December 1980.”

The key word is “was.” Inside the Actors Studio is the last remnant to the old Bravo. No musicians who act were available?

  2. Bill Gorman says:

Dingo, I think the show has become “Inside the Famous Person’s Studio” ;)

  3. KK says:

LOL! “Studio” jumped when they had “The Simpsons” on to discuss their “craft”. Bon Jovi has even less acting merit than the cartoon.
If they’re going to go this route, might as well have Megan Fox as a guest and other upstart young actors. Personally, I’d love to see veteran character actors guesting but that probably wouldn’t translate into large audience numbers.

  4. Joe Bua says:

Jon Bon Jovi is the NBC-Uni artist in residence, maybe that has something to do with this, but I’m still not buying.

Sheesh, when does David Leisure get his ITAS episode. Or Courtney Thorne-Smith, Andrew Shue, the first red shirt guy from the original Star Trek … or Evan “Joe Millionaire” Mariott?

  5. Jeff G says:

It would appear to me that they are now ratings whores instead of a legitimate “actors” show. Go ahead and bring on all the reality show “actos” while you are at it.

  6. Chuck Collins says:

Michael Zaslow would have made a wonderful and fascinating interview due to his long and varied career in television that was cut short, not by a phaser beam, but by ALS.

  7. None the less, Lipton is fun to watch. I have his interviews with Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie on my hard drive. The one with Angie was fun. She holds nothing back. The bit about both the Simpsons and SNL “assassinating” him was funny.

Musicians in rock bands are mostly actors, anyway, so it’s not totally unreasonable. He could do a useful interview with Shirley Manson who acted for the first time on TSCC; it would be useful to aspiring actors to get the experiences of someone who is tossed in the deep end without any training.
