The O’reilly Factor seems to be getting a spike in ratings, while everyone else remains pretty much flat.
Whether you agree with their positions or not, it gets down to this. O’Reilly is entertaining and comes off at least somewhat “newsmanly.” He at least appears sincere in listening to other opinions/views (yes, I know his is primarily an opinion show). Olberman, on the other hand, comes off as a whiny, petty, “I’m going to take my ball and go home” child who simply tolerates other views because he HAS to to at least APPEAR somewhat open to both sides of an issue.
Bottom line. Stick to sports, Olberman. You do a great job there. It’s where you belong and where you excel.
How can Olberman or any other news station compete with Fox. Fox caters to a specific population and ofcourse they will always be on top. I mean that’s the only station that Republican dare to watch they can’t handle the truth.,
O’Reilly is now getting more A25-54 viwers than Olbermann is getting P2+. Let’s see if the trend continues.
OpinionFree, there was a Pew Research poll showing FOX news had the greatest balance between Independents DEMOCRATS and Republicans
http://pewresearch.org/pubs/1395/partisanship-fox-news-and–other-cable-news-audiences
O’Reilly got just under 5 million viewers on the day of the shootings. Even for a breaking story, thats astouding.
At least it seems FOX points out why they feel people react as they do, MSNBC just likes to riddicue the person
OpinionFree ?
Perhaps you should consider changing your name to oh let’s say lemonadedrinkingcluelessdemdong and goober smocher.
.
As far as the “truth” and the “news” are concerned , you are correct. Stuf like “I didn’t have…bla, troops home by Christmas….bla…what billing records anybody seen Vince…bla. I invented the internet….bla….love story? Love canal….bla…I didn’t know this was a fund raiser…bla. However that’s history right up there with “read my lips.”
As to current events “ there will be no lobbyist in my White house, …yadda… “God ? do what to America? In 20 years I never that……yada……will not add one dime to the debt…..yada…..ACORN?…….bla…bla…bla…wolff….wolff…..oh and what about 72 hours to read a bill and line by line review with the Rebublicrats on c-span?
What a wolffin joke.
NEWS FLASH
This just in Olberman seen bowing at the waist to President Obama..
When Fox News interviewed Mr. Olberman later that day, you know as a real “news” network MSNBS has no weekend news coverage ( I just love that Hooked: Muscle Women, don’t you?) he stated “ no I wasn’t bowing I was just checking to see if Chris Matthews lips really are attached to President Obama’s rear end.”
LOL!! Olbermann is such a pathetic joke!
He’s finished. I predict he ends up, at some capacity, in the administration during ObaMaos (lame-duck) last two years in office. Perhaps as his speech writer, or maybe as Reggie Loves roommate/companion.
The reason FOX is so successful is they not only attract Conservatives, but more and more Independents and even some Liberals. Whereas the other networks are so biased towards the hard left, they have driven away all but a few Conservatives and Independents.
The fact is America is slightly right of center country. Networks and other media that espouse hard left viewpoints will continue to lose market share and viewers/readers.
the country is/has been center-right forever
fox will always capture the masses
fox has a fair share of left-leanering viewers
while virtually no conservative can stomach keith
you may not like o’reilly but he has good guests
and asks good questions
Fox rules.
WE just have to wait for the others to stop drinking the kool-aid and wake up to the truth. This WH and this Administration is very crafty. They have been working for 8 years on bashing GWB for no reason other than hate.
One day they will wake up, hopefully not too late, when they are completely dependent on this government that has taken all of their rights and property away…. then we will be weak enough for attack form other nations as well.
wake up people
Fox is to Republicans as MSNBC is to Democrats. CNN is missing the boat by not trying to take the Independent viewers away from both.
Personally I am a Libertarian and my sanity will only allow me to watch Fox(Glenn Beck).
What I have noticed is that the majority of Democrat supporters do not have the clout(financially or educationally) to actually support a cable news channel or a liberal radio station hence the sensational attacks and attempted changes in laws.
Olberman knows he cant be fired since NBC is owned by GE and they are willing to throw money in the hole to support the current administration. Fox is popular because people are scared of the future possibility of a socialist takeover of America.
IMHO anyone who has voted Republican or Democrat in the past 50 years deserves exactly whats happening to them right now.
P.S. you can put makeup on a lesbian but that doesnt make her a journalist. She is just another mouthpiece for GE.

Olbermann thinks he is so hot and he is so NOT! And he absolutely has NO class, none whatsoever. And Campbell just embarrasses herself! She’s is as bad as Rita Cosby and the histrionic court tv babes.
I’m curious to see how Olberman weathers his latest disaster.
I went to the Washington, DC protest. Nice people, passionate about freedom, knowing this “Healthcare Reform” is coming from the same people who made the Healthcare Problem, and seeing what’s in it, is like looking into a to-do list for a revolution.
Olberman, on the day of the shooting at Fort Hood, posed Michele Bachman as some crazy bitch with anger and inciting violence. He knows who was there; he’s aware of the situation….he just wants more viewers by being more controversial.
Personally, I think he’s a feminine health product. I enjoy seeing his ratings finding the floor.
Any fair minded person who has read through these ratings and postings MUST acknowledge FOX rules on Cable News. O’Reilly does a great job. Olberman is a twisted person who is one snort away from a breakdown. He professes to be a progressive, but he ends every night by referring to Bush’s Mission Accomplished 6 years ago. Some progressive…
Look at at the FOX people, O’Reilly, Beck, Hannity, even Greta, they are better on the facts and have way more personality then any Keith Oberbite or Rachel Madcow, CNN? They are trying to find a place but can’t be found.
This is a masterpiece.
With readers’ help, this site is turning into:
TV By the Numb3rs
Yeah, but Keith does at least another 1% in the Live+365…
The problem is Keith and the whole msnbc they callin any white person who disagree with Obama a racist whos affraid of losing there white power. That’s why there ratings r down I hate to be blunt but 98% of blacks votin 4 Obama because he black yo keith they don’t watch your show because ur white!!!!!! That playin the race card and report the news and maybe ur ratings will go up lol
Here are the numbers found from the Pew survey.
FNC: 39% Republican, 33% Democratic, 22% Independent
CNN: 18% Republican, 51% Democratic, 23% Independent
MSNBC: 18% Republican, 45% Democratic, 27% Independent
This would indicate more democrats are watching fox than MSNBCs total audience. Cant get anymore fair and balanced than that.
Lets see the libs here spin that…HOBO
Now that’s fair and balanced.
Count the White House among democrats who watch Fox News:
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-obama-fox7-2009nov07,0,7720786.story
Just because more democrats republicans and independents watch FOX doesnt mean their “reporting” is fair and balanced. It just means that the democrats, republicans, and independants watching FOX are getting unfair and unbalanced reporting and couldnt tell the difference because every one knows most of the time FOX never checks the “facts” before running with a “news” story lol
I want to be more articulate about this, after reading everybody’s comments, but this is all I can come up with. You people are insane.
Pretty inarticulate and stupid comment Chad!!
Joe, so everyone who watches Fox can’t recognize fair and balanced reporting. I am continually amazed at how many liberals like you know personally every person who watches Fox. You somehow know they are all stupid and of course racist. I guess I should get out more because I don’t know everyone who watches Fox. You liberals make such great arguments. I like your facts like “everyone knows that Fox doesn’t check it facts”. YOu know that is ridiculous but you say it anyway. Don’t let the truth or facts get in your way–no wonder you enjoy Olbermann so much.
This is also from the Pew Research Center:
“Though the percentage of Republicans who view Fox News positively is virtually the same (73 percent in 2007 and 72 percent in 2009), positive views of Fox News have dropped significantly amongst Democrats from 61 percent in 2007 to 43 percent in 2009.”
http://thinkprogress.org/2009/09/14/pew-fox-democrats/
So Hobo, who’s survey numbers are actually “correct”?
Additionally, If I’m watching something on the National Geographic channel, and most other people are watching “American Idol”, does this mean that “Idol” is supplying superior insightful knowledge?
Point is, “ratings are highly overrated”.
db, who said i was a liberal? your just assuming i am because i believe Fox is not fair and balanced…and their viewership of democrats have dropped dramatically between 2008 and 2009… and who said all fox viewers are racist? have u been watching fox to get that information as well? The only fair and balanced person on fox is shepard smith…atleast he admits when he doesnt cover a news story fairly and apologizes when he doesnt…and he isnt run by fox and other propaganda staff members at fox…he has his own mind and is the only guy i watch at 3 or 7 if i have the time….
Observations:
1. One organization is asking tough questions of/about THIS administration (not the previous administration) – Fox.
2. One organization is doing “everything I can to help this administration succeed” (paraphrasing Olbermann).
One question: Which is ACTING more like a check/balance on the administration on behalf of the American people at a time when the administration is focused on issues that are NOT the first priority of the people?
Now, why is it that one’s viewership is growing and the other fading?
If you’re not drinking the kool-aid, there’s very few people in the media representing you today.
Oh, and a postscript:
For any who are fans/supporters of Mr. Olbermann, I submit this test:
Can you name three “tough” questions he has asked of/about THIS administration, challenging their views/policies/etc.?
Anyone else notice on the graph that after Obama won the election that Olbermann started to fall in the ratings? Probably because he now has nothing to complain about. The Democrats have everything!
How can you even compare Fox to MSNBC.. Fox is offered Free or in the Basic Packages, and to get MSNBC you have to pay extra for it.. Since we are all Digital now I bet most people only want to pay or can only afford to pay the bare minimum for TV Service.. So right there Fox has an advantage.. It is not fair to compare the two.. unless you make MSNBC Free to everyone too… which would be nice.
We didn’t get MSNBC untill we got our first cable box for Comcast, but maybe you only have to pay extra to get MSNBC when you have Comcast.
Cami/Demonjoe – the data includes the number of households where both Fox (96.26M) and MSNBC (92.64M) are shown. So not much difference, yet Fox is consistently crushing MSNBC.
LostInTheWeeds, thanks that good to know. Now there’s no other reason to say why MSNBC always loses to FOX other than that MSNBC sucks.
Fox is on top because everybody loves to see a train wreck.
I’m white, so I know what white looks like. Just look at any Fox sponsored event of recent months. It’s almost blinding. i actually think my auto-level TV dims when scans of the crowd are done. It thinks the brightness setting is too high.
Olbermann is often overbearing and pompous. It’s called oneupsmanship.
I have to agree with ufos8mycow: You can put lipstick on Maddow, but she remains a PIG.
As for Keith Overbite, I love hearing about the emails Mark Levin gets from women who have dated Keith. I guess one date is all a woman can stand before she drops him like a hot cake. Do you suppose he has bad breath from the crap that spews from his mouth?
HHmmmm……Yes Mr. Olbermann is a lefty …….and fox news is to the far right….What does that have to do with anything…..Fox does not report truth….that’s what we are talking about….they make up fictional shots of rallies to make it look like their attendance was outstanding….like they didn’t know the difference in the crowds….And if they truly didn’t know the difference in the crowds why should anyone trust them with the news….Ratings don’t mean you deliver the truth in news….I watch fox so I can see how crazy Glenn and Hannity are…Everyday I just wait to see when they are going to really lose it….like now they are getting closet and closer and closer…or if I want to feel smart …..then I watch Glenn….He can make the dumbest person feel smart….and if I know someone that feels bad about their life I tell them to watch Hannity……He is angry everyday….aren’t you glad you don’t have his problems….he misunderstands things all the time…like he misunderstood what the president said about the insurance people “NOT” doing these things because they are evil…..so if you want to feel smart watch Beck…and if you want to feel better about your life watch Hannity…
