Legend of the Seeker fans, sorry, but it will be a while before the ratings are available

Posted on 08 November 2009 by Robert Seidman

Legend of the Seeker

I know the fans of Legend of the Seeker are very interested to know how the season two premiere did.  But because of the way syndication works (different areas air the show at different times) there are no overnight ratings for syndicated shows.

I expect we might see some ratings information (ratings points) in a few days.  But we will not likely see the viewer averages for the premiere episode until Tuesday, November 17 since syndicated show numbers take a week longer to produce than the numbers for broadcast and cable shows.

We will post whatever information we see, as soon as we see it.  I’m sorry there isn’t anything to report now, but…there isn’t anything to report now!

    bummer

  2. thedemonhog says:

Is the music in this show really that good? I have never seen it, but I know that it won the Emmy for original composition this year.

  3. Kenny says:

I didn’t know about this series
how did it do last season?

  4. Abby T. says:

Do you have any number for Friday Night Lights season 4 on The 101?

  5. jessie says:

@thedemondog, yes the music is fantastic, Joseph Loduca is a GOD

@Kenny, the show did well enough to get renewed for another season :)

  6. RJ says:

Never seen an episode of LOTS, my local affiliates dont air it.

  7. mark wood says:

The score isn’t bad at all, though in fairness its something that television producers have almost given up on, so for any show to really treat the score seriously is always nice.

  8. Chad says:

So glad to have it back. With SGU becoming a trite soap opera, I want something entertaining in the realm of sci/fi or fantasy.

The second season premiere was a rampaging delightful mess, and loved it.

  9. RJ, what are your local MyNet and CW channels?

  10. igor says:

I am interested in the numbers for LOTS from last year especially the season finale I can;;t find it anywhere?

  11. igor, I know of nothing comprehensive. If you go to Wikipedia and find the episode dates and then comb through all of the weekly syndication reports you can probably dig up most of the ratings (HH ratings) but not viewer numbers.

Not a small project, and not one I will take on, but you might want to give it a whirl if you’re motivated…

I watched Legend of the Seeker for the first time last weekend, before the premiere and even without knowing much about the characters or the story I found it very enjoyable. This evening the aired the season premiere with the finale from the first season. It was like a 2 hour movie.

A few comments back, Chad said:

This is exactly how I feel. A lot of my favorite sci-fi/fantasy shows are now gone, but we’re finally getting something back that is worth watching.

  14. Vetinari says:

I had no idea season 2 had premiered yet or was even due to soon. Don’t they have an advertising budget?

  15. RJ says:

Im pretty sure dumont posted them on pifeedback. :)

THIS SHOW QUICKLY , became one of my favorite shows, I was searching for something to watch one saturday after noon and little did I know this little show that I mistook for a movie would become such a favorite of mine…I never expected to like it, I left it on my DVR for weeks and then finally watched it when my other shows were done, I watched it and never missed an epsiode after that, it gets better and better, I LOVE LOTS!!!If you havent seen this show please give it a chance, I bought the season 1 dvd and my Familly has been watching it alll day, they are actually watching it right now. :) Just watch it if you havent yet, you wont regret it!!!

  17. spin or no, way easier than combing through B&C! thanks for the link. Not much in the way of viewer numbers, and I will make a point to post them in the future for season 2, but they will always be delayed by at least a week (Syndicated viewer averages for the week ending 11/1 won’t be available to us until Tuesday).

  18. Jeff says:

It’s interesting to see the way they adapt it from the books. I love the books, but I also think that they’re doing a great job with the show. It’s only a loose interpretation, but even Terry Goodkind says to just enjoy the show for what it is and not expect the books on screen. GREAT JOB!!

  19. Samuel says:

Ratings for LOTS season 1 premiere were 4.1 million viewers and 2.5 in the demos. I think, but I’m far from sure that the ratings for the season were pretty steady. So good ratings.

  20. pal says:

Syndicated shows like LOTS really have it rough in getting viewers, checked a few random zip codes while checking for air time in my own area and found that LOTS aired in a different time slot for every one. The 1st airing on 1 CW affiliate actually starts on midnight saturday.

LOTS does have the advantage of being aired twice on most stations though, hope that helps.

  21. RJ says:

I ended up finding LOTS on WGN at 4pm in my area.

  22. Mandi says:

@RJ- Me too. Took some searching though.

I think it was really smart of them to air the S1 finale along with the S2 premiere. I also watched some of the LotS marathon on Syfy last week. I hope that brought in some new viewers.

Great premiere and glad the show is back!

  23. Rhiannon says:

I absolutely LOVE this show! Can’t wait to see how well it did for the premiere!

  24. Matt says:

Anyone get this show in HD by chance? I watched season 1 over the summer on Hulu and recorded Season 2 premier on Saturday, but it was unfortunately in SD (yes, I’m an HD snob now ;p ). I even checked with my local CW station, and they said it is distributed in SD only.

  25. Riff Rafferty says:

When I sampled it last season, it was in HD (on WPIX in NYC) for the originals but SD (and cropped) for the repeats. Next time I see it, I’ll tell you what it is this season.

  26. Matt says:

I really enjoyed the 2nd season premier; I watched the first season, enjoyed it, and was curious so I read the series. They’ve done an artful job adapting (as opposed to transcribing) the novels, and keeping the spirit of the books intact in a non-serialized format. I REALLY hope it does well and we get all the way through the last book :-)

  27. Dave says:

I’m really liking this show as well. I am along with many of you growing very tired of SGU and how boring it is. LOTS is a breath of fresh air. Great job to the cast!

  28. ChicagoZak says:

Thanks for letting us know the expected info date! Keep up the good work.

Awesome show. I hope it keeps being successful and builds a strong following. The quality cinematography often surprises me.

  29. Samuel says:

    Still no news?

  30. Rhiannon says:

Well said Matt! I definitely agree!

  31. Holly says:

    @Samuel,
Because of a power outage at Nielsen, all the numbers are delayed. We’ll know more at 4 pm Eastern, but no guarantees that we’ll get the ratings then.
