Ms. Swift was dipped in at least a little ratings gold, this past Saturday she hosted Saturday Night Live and it had season high ratings in the early metered market numbers. Via ABC press release:
TAYLOR SWIFT TO PERFORM OPENING SONG
ON “THE 43rd ANNUAL CMA AWARDS”
Additional Acoustic Performance to Follow
Only two days away, yet the excitement continues to grow for “The 43rd Annual CMA Awards.” It was announced today that four-time nominee Taylor Swift will deliver the opening performance.
A second, acoustic performance will follow later in the show. “The 43rd Annual CMA Awards,” hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, will be broadcast live from the Sommet Center in Nashville, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Swift, who won the Horizon Award in 2007, received four nominations this year with Entertainer, Female, Album for “Fearless,” and Music Video for “Love Story.” She could receive a second trophy for producing “Fearless” with Nathan Chapman. At age 19, Swift is the youngest artist ever to be nominated for Entertainer. Prior to this nomination, Wynonna was the youngest at age 22, when The Judds were first nominated in that category in 1986. Swift is also the first solo female artist to be nominated for Entertainer since 2000, when Faith Hill was nominated. The last solo female artist to win the category was Shania Twain in 1999.
In addition to Swift, performers already announced include Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney and Dave Mathews, Billy Currington, Vince Gill and Daughtry, Kid Rock and Jamey Johnson, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, George Strait, Sugarland, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban and Zac Brown Band.
Announced as Awards presenters during “Country Music’s Biggest Night™” are Dale Earnhardt Jr., Neil Flynn, Patricia Heaton, Julianne Hough, Randy Houser, The Judds, Kid Rock, Kris Kristofferson, Jake Owen, Kellie Pickler, LeAnn Rimes, Robin Roberts and Lee Ann Womack.
“The 43rd Annual CMA Awards” is a production of the Country Music Association. Robert Deaton is the executive producer, Paul Miller is the director and David Wild is the writer. The special will be shot in high definition and broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format, with 5.1 channel surround sound.

What a great way to open the show! Taylor is an amazing performer! I wish her luck!
la la la.
Ha Ha Ha…
Overrated. Don’t get it…
Boy, the media sure know how to turn you against someone in a hurry! I think if I hear her name one more time I will hurl! I saw the girl in concert and she was like a robot doing a skit…all choreographed and rehearsed and her hair slinging drove me nuts. All her fans were screechy young girls and teens! I’ve seen real entertainment and know this is not the real deal!! Come on country folks….are you so wrapped up in the latest fads and money that you would pick someone who cannot sing in pitch. Granted she may have a good personality, but hey this is EOTY for Country Music not Miss Congenality!! I believe she will fade away when the next big thing come along! Hasn’t it always been that way?
she is very talented, but she is not a country singer. she makes shania twain look like loretta lynn.
I like Taylor, she is country-pop, and there is nothing wrong with that IMO.
I’m guessing the CMA Awards would pull 8-11 million viewers with a demo around 2.8-3.2
way over rated and quickly wearing out her welcome.
I wonder if Kanye West will be at the CMA Awards? I would love to see the reaction of all of those sh*tkickers and rednecks in the audience if he ran on stage to interrupt and grab the microphone away from Taylor Swift.
Taylor is a awesome performance. A young and talented lady

Not sure what concert Gloria was watching. As a veteran of concerts both coun try and rock, I thought Taylor’s show this past summer was one of the most solid and clever shows I’ve seen ina long time. She commanded the stage like someone who has been doing it for years, related to the audience and kept the energy and variety constant. Yes, lots of teenage girls – my daughter being one of them – that doesn’t alter the quality of the show, and the fact that she is a great role model for those girls doesn’t hurt her popularity.
