Posted on 12 November 2009 by Bill Gorman

dobbs-lou
It’s not surprising that the final Lou Dobbs show on CNN didn’t get a ratings bump. The news came out so late that there was effectively no warning or chance for any casual viewers to tune in.

  1. james says:

CNN is becoming a joke in prime time keith olbermans countdown repeat squashed AC360

  2. wally says:

I nice bump at 5:00 for FNC though. Welcome back Glenn Beck.

  3. Rob says:

Again FOX’s numbers are really good. Was Larry King’s numbers a typo? Seems a bit elevated since they(CNN) only averaged 632,000 viewers??!!

  4. MarsPolarLander says:

Lou Dobbs will be sorely missed. Truths will be swept under the carpet.

  5. james says:

without larry king cnn would be crap and his viewers are fewer than rachel maddows mostly every week night in the 9pm slot

  6. Anonymous says:

LOL CNN came in **BEHIND** CNBC during prime time…whoa.

  7. Mike says:

sadly these so called news networks do not have the slightest understanding of how to Disseminate news.
At least Fox is putting it out for people to see and people seem to have wised up.
hopefully Lou will be picked up By fox News.
fox should have him run vs Larry King. Lou would decimate Larry.

  8. Corey3rd says:

Fox News – giving bogus footage to please their guest’s ego. One tea bagging event is like any other.

  9. DHall707 says:

Fox viewers will buy anything that Fox news is selling. Hannity give you fools bogus footage in DC.

  10. true american says:

Typo. Larry King had over 600,000 not over 1,600,000

  11. Lee707 says:

Bye Bye Lou Dobbs and take the hate with you.

  12. Tony says:

Hannity apologized on air last night for airing the wrong footage.
That is what an honorable man does–admits his error and apologizes.
Still waiting for an aplogy or admission Of error for:
Unemployment not going above 8 percent.
Burying the Fort Hood act of terror in a speech after giving shout outs to his buds.
Meeting with his Afghanistan Commander once since March.
Appointing communist and Maoist to his administration.
Quadrupling the debt…..I think you get the picture….

  13. guy says:

I have e-mailed Keith Dolbermann (countdown@msnbc.com) on many occasions to give him my views on his hateful broadcasting. Now he has blocked my mail and it is always returned. Do what you will.

  14. Demonjoe says:

Wow guy, that’s pretty pathetic that he can’t take any criticism from you. When Bill O’reilly gets nasty e-mail he at least reads them on the air.

  15. guy says:

O’reilly only reads mail if it comes from someone that is subscribed to his pay site. It’s something like $5 a month.

  16. Dick Sladek says:

    bbbbbbbbbb

  17. Demonjoe says:

Oh, then I guess he would get thousands of e-mail a day.

  18. Dick Sladek says:

Dylan Ratigan (Morning Meeting) has a decent show but gets crummy ratings partially because their lead-in show “Morning Joe” sux like a chest wound. Rachel Maddow has proven far lefties can get decent ratings but MJ is little more than a cafeteria style series of clashing egos insults and arguments. Joe does make a LOT of sense but his monsterous male ego causes him to dominate and interrupt his guests for fear they may get the best of him. As for Mika’s endless chirping away with “Yeah, HMmmm, Okay..,” and silly antics of a spoiled child – It’s annoying as hell. The woman has the IQ of a fence post. (There’s no way the front office can candy up this fact.) YOUR POTENTIAL VIEWERS ARE MORE SAVVY THAN YOU THINK MSNBC.)

Chris Matthews is another from one from MSNBC whose rude interruptions of his guests has put his ratings in an ever tightening swirl down the toilet. Hint to Matthews: Rachel Maddow treats her guests with respect and does not let her ego get in the way.

  19. guy says:

O’reilly does get thousands of e-mails every day. His staff goes through them and picks a few dozen. Then out of those, O’reilly picks the ones that he reads. Go to “billoreilly.com” and send him an e-mail. You can send a million, but none will get read unless you pay.

  20. Demonjoe says:

One time he read an e-mail from my town.

  21. Cody says:

even though they are liberal like the rest. But CBS needs a news channel they at least have a little class

  22. Demonjoe says:

I think if ABC got their own 24 hour news station they would be pretty good competition for FOX. George Stephanopolous isn’t too liberal.

  23. Truth! Don’t you all think Rachel would bury Glen & O’Reilly &
Larry & Dobbs in an intelligent debate?

  24. Julian says:

ABC is in bed with Fox News. Haven’t you noticed their talent appear on both channels as guest and commentators.

As for CNN. They surely need some shaking up. They have the brand and infrastructure to do something big but whoever is running the show there is failing epically.
As for MSNBC and Fox. who cares. The people championing each channel like a child or family member are making fools of themselves. How can you complain about O’Reilly and Hannity when you worship Olbermann? Same goes for people bashing Olbermann and Maddow, they’re all clowns and a shameful aspect of this country.
What I find even worse is how the cult these men create just repeat everything they are taught every night. Bech having the most obnoxious and ridiculous cult at the moment. Olbermann and O’Reilly were competing for a long time for that title but Beck came in and ran with it.

  25. Corey3rd says:

Hannity only admitted this after he was caught lying on the air. “an inadvertent mistake” used to mean heads rolling, but nothing happened besides a Jon Stewart was right shout out. guy didn’t notice the trees went green? really? he used the bogus footage to support his bogus crowd size, but he’s not a journalist so I guess that’s all permitted on a news channel.

  26. HOBO says:

“Truth! Don’t you all think Rachel would bury Glen & O’Reilly &
Larry & Dobbs in an intelligent debate?”

Wouldnt know, she hardly ever debates on her show. Much like Olbermann, just has folks who salivate over their oppinions.

The two times she had someone on the right debate her, she got her clock cleaned. It was embarrasing to watch. I almost felt sorry for her. Nahhh, i loved it.

I think they put that debating thing on the back burner for her.
If she had rove or gingrich on her show, they would bury her. It would be end of her oh so liberal show, showing just how wrong her side is with middle america.

    HOBO

  27. Abe says:

LOL. Madcow didn’t even know that the constitution had a preamble, fail.

  28. russc says:

Welcome back Glenn.A man thats UNAFRAID.Most the things he is shareing
with the American people at this time i believe will come to pass. The American people has to wake up & speak out. There is people out there who wont to DESTORY America as we know it.Also Rember what i’m saying GAS will be $5.00 a gal.by this time next year,Groc.& Elect will be out SITE.Do we really wont this?”

  29. Frankie D says:

Anybody realize the Magnetosphere is collapsing?

  30. MikeB says:

    J. Chalmers Gunn says:
    November 12, 2009 at 7:13 pm
Truth! Don’t you all think Rachel would bury Glen & O’Reilly &
Larry & Dobbs in an intelligent debate?

Are you serious?!?! I laughed so hard after reading that I almost pissed all over myself!

Truth is… a 4th grader could out debate and pounce all over Madcow.

  31. DGL says:

Which is worse bogus footage in a montage or KO claiming his show is number one in the ratings?

  32. JC says:

    Which is worse?

MSNBC comparing tea party protester to someone rubbing their scrotum on anothers face or MSNBC deliberately manipulating footage to make tea party protesters look racist by zooming in to a black NRA man carrying a gun so you couldn’t see his skin color?

  33. Page says:

    DHall707 says:
    November 12, 2009 at 4:39 pm
Fox viewers will buy anything that Fox news is selling. Hannity give you fools bogus footage in DC.
    ____________________________________________

Would have to say this is not as bad as MSNBC lying about WHO was carrying that gun at that rally this summer. Zeroing in on the gun strapped to the guys side and calling this person a gun toting white racist at an Obama rally. Turns out the guy was African American. They knew it too, because they edited the footage to that spot.

  34. D.J. says:

Larry King’s Wednesday number looks strikingly similar to the previous night’s number. Then again, Carrie Prejean was booked, so that might have something to do with it…

With that said, you can’t justify bleeding a 1 million-plus share. “LKL” no longer makes sense as a lead-in to “AC360″.

  35. Demonjoe says:

I saw the video with the black NRA member with the gun on Glenn Beck.

  36. mark-allen says:

as far as rachel m in a debate, thats too funny…she can’t and dosen’t even begin to hold her own on meet the press when she is on the roundtable…she is an embarassment.

  37. AppleStinx says:

D.J. wrote: “Larry King’s Wednesday number looks strikingly similar to the previous night’s number…”

Larry King’s P2+ number is off by 1 million; it should have been 633,000.

  38. Bill Gorman says:

Have corrected the Larry King P2+ typo.

  39. bruce says:

Rachel Maddow is a complete buffoon, which is why her ratings are laughable.

  40. Laurenz says:

That ‘Madcow ‘ on MSNBC makes me almost throw a Chair on the TV Monitor to demolish it.
Can’t stand her hihanded, flippant Excursons into total offhanded
Remarks, she has no clue, what she is really talking about.
And she thinks, she is helping the chaotic leftwing OBAMANISTAS in
their run, to ruin the freedoom in America. sad sad sad…….
Hope, the Rest of clear headed People in America bring this Nightmare
soon to an End and vote socalled “Liberals” [Marxist] out of Office.

  41. cat7722 says:

A Rachel Maddow debate??…..depends what she is debating……if she was truthful and was debating her (and the lefts) desire to make America into a socialist country where wealth is distributed by the politicians then it would be interesting…..I wouldnt agree with her position but it would be entertaining.

Any other debate she took part in would be laughable…..it’d be like watching someone trying to debate against 2+2=4. The reason I’m so “anti-left wing” is because they are disingenuous in their intentions. Obama and the left ARE trying to change America into a european style, socialist, government run country. At least if they admitted it I would have the smallest amount of respect for them….

  42. cat7722 says:

Oh, and sorry to see Lou Dobbs go…..any last bit of credibitiy leaves CNN with him. Damn shame, now CNN is that much closer to being a MSNBC, socialist, rhetoric machine.

  43. beckgirl says:

SO GREAT TO HAVE GLENN BACK!!

I HAVE HAD MY E-MAIL READ BY BILL O. AND BELIEVE ME, I DID NOT PAY!! HOW SILLY

  44. eugene says:

Sad to see Lou Dobbs leave. Only time I watched CNN. John King replaces him, another left wing softy when interviewing. I do not see the ratings going up anytime soon.
I also get tired of Fox sometimes since they can be a little slanted like they all can. What happened to true journalism?

  45. carl says:

madcow would totally decimate oreilly beck larry and dobbs because they are limited to a little thing called facts while madcows talking points are unlimited because she works with theorys

  46. cheers says:

John King is no lefty, he is a pretty down the middle guy. CNN will soon fade away, at least Dobbs attracted a few racists to his show.
CNN is proud to say they have no bias, they also have no ratings!

  47. Steve says:

Rachel would get chewed up and spitten out by either O’Rielly or Beck…..her and Hannity would try to out-opinion each other and she would win because she’s so filled with hate and venom, whereas Hannity is just a partisan.

  48. Hoppy says:

Right, left or center – the numbers speak for themselves. Comments are interesting, not for their content, but for what they say about political, philosophical and economical debate in today’s America. It appears that the most popular buzz word these days is “hate.”

  49. GaryD7310 says:

The Only thing Madcow can debate is trying to decide if she has to shave her face before or after the show.

  50. skillshoe says:

I don’t know why Hannity apologize. He didn’t disappoint anybody because we expect that from his show and all of Fox Fake News programs. He just prove Pres.Obama point that Fox is not a news organization.
Now Lou Dobbs can go to his dream job at Fox where he will fit right in to spread his hate propaganda and his racist and radical views.
He have a lot of people he can partner up with over there.

  51. Thinker says:

If people cannot see that Obama and his administration are taking this country down the tube on purpose, for their own greedy socialistic agenda, then they are not smart enough to be watching FOX news. Every network has egomaniacs, and FOX is no exception, but news is news, facts are facts and truth is truth. FOX is the only channel that provides those qualities. The rest are bought out liberal mouthpieces afraid to report the real news in America as it might offend their idol icon Obama whom they were largely responsible for putting in office. As for the morons on MSNBC there is not enough class or intelligence among them all to even land a job on another. network.

  52. Corey3rd says:

Is this the same FoxNews that had no problem with us burning a trillion dollars invading Iran under false pretenses? Is this the same Fox News that spent 8 years reminding us what a genius George W Bush was? This the same Fox News that told AARP that if they started advertising on the channel, they’d stop having Pat Boone and Art Linklater pushing a rival organization on Cavuto’s Show?

I spend enough time each week dealing with the paranoid, the delusional and schizophrenic. Oddly enough, they all swear they get messages from Fox News anchors.

  53. Kathy says:

    Tony-
    He can’t apologize for:
Unemployment not going above 8 percent.
Burying the Fort Hood act of terror in a speech after giving shout outs to his buds.
Meeting with his Afghanistan Commander once since March.
Appointing communist and Maoist to his administration.
Quadrupling the debt…..I think you get the picture….

He’s too busy apologizing to other countries for America’s past deeds.

  54. skillshoe says:

When Bush was in office we were losing over 500,000 jobs a month, going into a false war that was not paid for and now it’s costing taxpayers 4 trillion dollars,Pres.Obama got a over a trillon dollar bill for the deficit, etc….
Yes we have to apologize for leaving Bush in office for 8 years.

  55. Dick Sladek says:

I give Obama about a 33% chance of being re-elected despite a poor first year performance.
    * He falsely claimed under his HC Bill illegal aliens would “not be covered.”
    * We have not yet received the “transparency” he promised.
    * His HC Bill collects money for the first 3-4 yrs but coverage does not kick in until sometime in 2013.

Clear evidence that Obama’s clout has sharply diminished (20 point drop in approval since January) was when he campaigned for Deeds and Corzine in VA and NJ. Both were soundly defeated in Democratic states despite Obama’s crusade to get them elected.

  56. Golden Rule says:

Is interesting, I look at the ratings on & off and always seem to see Bill Gorman, noting some reported stat was wrong but the Larry thing took the cake.

I stopped watching Larry King during the elections.

  57. Dick Sladek says:

US Congressman Joe Wilson correctly pointed out that Obama “lied” when he claimed illegal aliens would not be covered under the HC plan. But President Barrack Obama’s claim that “I will not sign a HC Bill that costs even one dime” was a true WHOPPER.

    Obama Home of the WHOPPER
    Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm
