I’m assuming people were just interested in what was going on in Lou’s spot – was he still there? Was there a new show? Did they hire a new person? etc. etc.
I’m sure Friday & onwards will be back to normal…
Glenn Beck show was outstanding tonight. If Twitter activity means anything the ratings will be very high and I expect people will be tuning in over the weekend as well assuming they replay this outstanding show!
Your right Giz, it was a great Beck show today. To bad more blacks don’t think like them.
Every CNN show looks like it was up other than the morning and poor Anderson. It will be interesting to see if its just a complete fluke.
Gleen Beck had a very good show tonight,A wonderful audience . I learned alot tonight from his audience.They are PROUD Americans.
>Gleen Beck had a very good show tonight,A wonderful audience . I learned alot tonight from his audience.They are PROUD Americans.
I know you are not typing that with a straight face, lol.
We are all proud Americans. You don’t have to watch a conspiracy filled right wing comedy show to be proud.
Its just that conservatives say things like that and think “why aren’t they all conservatives” without realizing that saying that stuff is why people don’t want to be conservatives, so they therefor help foster what they say they don’t want.
Its just that Liberals say things like “why aren’they all Liberals”
without realizing, that they’r wrong so they therefore help foster
what rhey say and do they don’t want, ruin the whole Country.
De ja vu my ‘liberal Friend’.
This particular thread gets a lot of hate filled comments and yet the same people are still able to post. I wonder why!!!
I am also interested in seeing what the numbers will be for Friday.
It was a good show, it could have been two hours, they could have cut out the part where they interviewed Charles Payne (I like him very much but really who cares that he grew up in a very bad neighborhood and got picked on his entirechildhood just because he wanted to be a business man) and they also could have introduced the changing panel on stage. I knew many of the peeps on the show as I am on facebook with them. Kevin Jackson is a really nice nice guy google him
@Tim
You do realize conservatives represent 40% of the country right?
JC, is it gallup and Rasmussn that did that poll, I can’t remember.
Mindy…if you want to see a network filled with hate
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/scott-whitlock/2009/11/13/msnbc-uses-fake-sexy-photos-sarah-palin-air-will-network-correct-apo
The country has spent the last 100 years demonizing the word liberal and glorifying the word conservative, so people are much more likely to say they are conservative then liberal. Only the hardcore liberals say they are liberals while people who are slightly right of center call themselves conservative.
Demonjoe,
Gallup did the poll you’re thinking of. I’m pretty sure. I know it wasn’t Rasmussen.
the ed show had a poll. 90 percent said having the terror trial in ny is a good idea. is it demonizing to suggest liberals just don’t see reality. even if nothing happens the cost will be enormous but in liberal land the symbolism of having the trial at the scene of the crime rules,,,,,uugghhhhh
hey
Neither conservatives or liberals see reality, both are nuts. If you agree with Sean Hannity or Ed Schultz you are out of your mind crazy.
Tim and JC,
U are both wrong however Tiom u r on the right track:
Conservatives make up 60% of the country and the far left makes up 9&
But to listen to the far lefties all the time you would think conservatives are in a hole some where. Thisd is why the ratings show what they show and none other.
The Battleground Poll, the most respected and thorough of all public opinion polls:
In August 2008, Americans answered that question this way:
(1) 20% of Americans considered themselves to be very conservative;
(2) 40% of Americans considered themselves to be somewhat conservative;
(3) 2% of Americans considered themselves to be moderate;
(4) 27% of Americans considered themselves to be somewhat liberal;
(5) 9% of Americans considered themselves to be very liberal; and
(6) 3% of Americans did not know or refused to answer.

Sorry, tired, that should say JC is closer and sorry for the typo’s.
Asking people what they see themselves as is not a good way to go about it, a much better way is to look how issues break down. Most people have a mixture of liberal and conservative views, the minority line up all liberal and all conservative.
HEY
Uhh Paul…..
I think I trust the American people to decide if they are conservative or liberal….I think I will give the American people much more credit than you do. But that really is the far left viewpoint isnt it…that the American people arent smart enough to decide on their own….That is why you far lefties hate Fox News…..You dont like the people to see both sides and decide….
But Paul, this is America…we will let the people decide!!!!
BTW Paul,
I also have a few more liberal points of view…..But I’m smart enough to know that I am considered a conservative….I believe in less government and more free market….That’s why I am one of those numbers who watch Glen, Shaun and Bill….and you are right Paul…I do not always agree with them…However I am smart enough to know that I am a conservative…
FOX RULES !!!!
The only time I ever agree with Liberals is on moral issues and gay marriage.
Not sure why you can take your own argument and throw it out the window when you are talking about others. I am not a liberal, I identify myself as fairly conservative yet you just called me liberal, so either the people can decide or you will decide for others.
And if you read what I said carefully you will see I never said anything about people being intelligent enough to decide what they are, I was speaking more in terms of politics. Just because people say they are conservative doesn’t mean that’s how they will vote.
I started watching Glenn Beck. At first thought he was nuts. But after watching him and realizing that a lot of times the entertainment makes you think about the point he’s trying to make all of a sudden you realize this guy gets it. The show he had Friday was excellant and should make all sides realize that most of these entitlements are.doing more harm than good, I’ve seen it in my own family.
Paul,
You cannot have it both ways…Either it is a fair question to ask people what they are and TRUST them to KNOW how they feel about the issues and whether they are very conservative somewhat conservative somewhat liberal or very liberal, OR you DO NOT trust them to understand and state their position and that battleground poll is inacurate. That is what your statement implicates. We dont have to poll the people on seperate issues then have someone decide how those decisions add up to decide what percentage of the American people consider themselves conservative. What is very clear from that poll which is totally relevent each week to these threads are that only 9% of the American people affiliate them selves with the issues that would equate them with the far left. That is why a news station that shows liberals alongside conservatives debating the issues always gets more of an audience than does those stations that fervently show only one side of the story.
Paul you said :
“Asking people what they see themselves as is not a good way to go about it”
I say that the American people are smart enough to figure out that question and it IS a good way to go about it!
I first started watching Glenn Beck some time in Feburary. He was talking about president Obama giving the prime minister of England 20 classic american DVD movies and returning the statue of Winston Churchhill that they gave us. I started watching him because of how funny he is. Then I got hooked on him when he started talking about serious things too.
Paul ,
If you are a fairly conservative I appologize for calling you a liberal….however I imagine that you have been blogging long enough to know that it is generally a liberal who would state a poll is faulty such as this one because they do not like the results. So I still leaving out calling you a liberal stand by my position that just simply asking people where they stand is rather accurate. The battleground poll correctly matches with the ratings of the news stations especially understanding that more registered Democrats and Independents watch Fox more than Republicans.
To be honest I don’t do this much at all, but I think my statement didn’t come across how I met it. I believe most of the country is conservatives, I was not trying to insult peoples intelligence. I was thinking in terms of how peoples views effect results. In that 60% of the country can say they are conservative and a chunk of them can still vote for a liberal.
That happened during the 2008 election when Barack Obama make himself look like a moderate, when in reality he actually had the most liberal voting record in the Senate.
Paul,
Great discussion. I can explain how 60% of the American people can be conservative and end up with a Barak Obama in office. 1. He ran as a moderate. 2. The liberal news media did admittingly alot of covering for him. 3. John Mc Cain who I respect, ran a lousy campaign. 4. Barak Obama ran an excelent campaign. Under the best of circumstances he only recieved 53% of the vote. 5 The conservatives did not have the excitement. 6. The Liberals did!
Now that the American people have more information he will not win again as only 9% affiliate themselves with the extreme his policy has taken. Remember the true king of the Democratic party, Bill Clinton, won his first election with 43% of the vote and had to run to the center after the midterms and only won reelection with 49 % of the vote in 96. Both because the conservative vote was split. Bush won his second term under the worst of circumstances. Barak Obama was a win that was almost a fluke and the American people are smart enough to decide that in 2012.
The battleground poll matches fine with the ratings that the news channels recieve. That is why the far left hates Fox. They know that the people given all the information will not let a far left president with socialist policies remain. The Dems are not socialist. they have let the far left socialits grab their party. So now they will pay the same consequences that MSNBC AND CNN face on a daily basis in their ratings.
I’m looking forward to 2012.
the media and people here love throwing around poll numbers.most polls i see say 600-1200 people, usually 800. are they black or white-urbam suburban-male female-old young-rich poor, with such a small sampling they mean nothing
Lots of good points but the one thing that I think should be a concern is who the republicans nominate, if they don’t nominate a solid conservative I think we will see a third party candidate split the vote and cause him to get re-elected. But being totally honest Obama is an amazing campaigner, not a good president but he could repeat 2008, unless the economy doesn’t get better then he’s toast.
Polls predicted the 2008 election almost perfectly, I say they work.
i just saw that rassmussen was closest and he was still off by 3 or 4, besides an election between 2 people is a lot easier and in the end provable than gauging the mood of the whole country
Paul,
I have to agree with you 100%. If the republicans run a horserace for a primary again instead of finding a good candidaate I am afraid of a repeat of 92 and 96 and a third party candidate giving it back to Barak Obama. However with Fox on the tail of the far left I believe firmly that the Democrats having let the socialist side of their party will lose them congress and I just have to have confidence that the Republican party will get it together in two years when we begin the 2012 election. Yes folks by the end of 2011 we will be starting the 2012 presidential election and the positions of Barak obama only reflect 9% of the American people and we have two years for the other 90% to see the facts.
You know I just had a thought…the best thing for Obama would be the republicans taking the house back, he’d be forced right back into the center, it happened to Bill Clinton, because of health care, sound familiar? and he got a second term.
Mark:
If you notice Mark here:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/general_election_mccain_vs_obama-225.html
Most of the polls were either dead on or with in one point so I dont know where you get ur Rasmussen result. Rasmussen had 52/46 and the result was 52.9 45.6 so what you saw was faulty.
Mark,
If you are far left, and since you do not state that I will not assume, you prove my point. Thank you. If the poll doesnt state close to what you want to believe the poll is faulty.
The battlegroundf poll is :
“the most respected and thorough of all public opinion polls”
Fox is the network of hate. People need to speak up against them and they should be taken off the air. They incite people against the president and call him a racist. He was elected by the people and they can’t accept it. They are anti-american. Lets put a stop to them people!
@domenjoe
Its the Gallop. And its been that way since its tracking.
@walter
Its funny how you don’t watch Fox and yet you judge. Sure, you’ll say you do, but we all know your source is from mediamatters and MSNBC.
I guess you don’t mind a news organiztion callin opponents of Obama racist and protesters wanting a revolution. MSNBC even went as far as saying the 9/12 march was about hating black people. Lets not forget Mr Angriest man in the world spent the last 8 years calling Bush a fascist and telling others to “shut the hell up”. And don’t even get me started on the disgusting childish sex jokes about protesters, or how Maddow laughed on air about a conservative at a town hall who got his finger bitten by a SEIU thug. Or Gerafelo coming on Olbermann saying that the tea party goers are “dumb racist teabagging rednecks” who’s “brains aren’t as fully developed”. Keith just laughed and talked about how “dangerous” the protesters are. Or the time when MSNBC intentionally edited a video of a black person carrying a gun to protest gun restrictions to where you couldn’t see his skin color, then called the protesters racist.
See, unlike you, I provide examples of MSNBC enciting violence. All you have is out of context quotes from smear groups like mediamatters.
Walter, name one hateful person on FOX news.
Walter, sadly, you are wrong.
Do you not see that the WhiteHouse controls CNN and MSNBC and ABC et al?
They are afraid to say anything other than what this administration tells them to. They get their talking points every day, several times a day. Trust me on that.
This WH administration is very VERY difficult to work with.
I work for DOD (as a contractor) and I can tell you, unless you outwardly show complete devotion to this WhiteHouse, your days are numbered. Axelrod and Rahm Emmanuel are slowly and surely weeding out the ones that do not fit their protocol and replacing them with
I cannot tell you anything more than that, but trust me, it is true
pardon, I did not finish the sentence above, my kitty was getting into mischief and I had to intervene.
They WH is encouraging/pushing people they do not want working in DOD and replacing them with their choices.
Trust me. I know.
Once again, distraction.
The WH basically forces folks to “RETIRE”
they want them OUT so they can “fix” things.
Let’s face it, FOX News has the better personalities, you can’t honestly say that MSNBC has anybody better than Fox, Matthews, Madcow and Overbith don’t even come clost to Beck, O’Reilly or Hannity, plus let’s face the facts, FOX news has the babes, MSNBC has Madcow? As for CNN, they don’t don’t have a view of what they want to be.
I am looking forward to Fridays ratings…
stilllllll waiting.
This part of the website is always slow on weekends.
scott—i am not far anything–i conceded in my post that a race between 2 people can be polled, not the mood of the people, i believe the avg person is not a way out lib but they keep winning, so i guess the polls and me are either wrong or the silent majority are lazy on election day
Mark,
Glad to know however the polls are not wrong….I explained how we ended up with Mr Obama when the country is not in line with his poliies in my post at November 14, 2009 at 7:31 pm. If Barak Obama had been honest with the american people about how far left he was he would have NEVER been elected.He ran as a moderate as I explained. However now the American people have seen the truth. He has lost 40% of the Independants that elected him. He has a controlling majority in congress and even in the strong house barely passed his health care in the senate losing 40 dems. He will lose in 2012 unless a third party candidate splits the vote as in the 92 and 96 elections and the dems will lose seats in congress.
Beck was awesome on Friday. His audience hit it right on the nose – liberalism creates an underclass, not liberates from one. Beck and Fox are the only news organization to back their comments with actual facts.
“We are all proud Americans. You don’t have to watch a conspiracy filled right wing comedy show to be proud.”
See, Dobbsonian, people are expressing THEIR OPINION about Glenn Beck and you have to start with the hatred and smearing. Typical liberal…you do not like someone so start the smear campaign. It’s getting really old and tired. Why not just hang out with Keith Olbermann and wash his back in the tub.
Well said, Brad! And Beck show on Friday was awesome!
Is Keith Olbermann the biggest jerk you’ve ever seen on TV? He needs to do something else cause his show sucks.
Don’t you idiots have anything better to do? There hasn’t been a single person who commented yet that’s sounded intelligent or well informed. It’s all knee jerk opinion vs. knee jerk opinion. Reading this back-and-forth reminded me of watching monkeys throw poop at each other at the zoo. What a huge waste of time.
MORONALERT::
Then why did u read it? Or did you? The conversation was highly inteligent and many facts were given and sourced. We will let the readers decide. It is much easier that way.. But think what you want. I believe you must be a part of the 9% of the American public that considers themselves far left and not part of the 60% that considers themselves somewhat or rather conservative as stated in the battleground poll, the most respected and through of all polls:
In August 2008, Americans answered that question this way:
(1) 20% of Americans considered themselves to be very conservative;
(2) 40% of Americans considered themselves to be somewhat conservative;
(3) 2% of Americans considered themselves to be moderate;
(4) 27% of Americans considered themselves to be somewhat liberal;
(5) 9% of Americans considered themselves to be very liberal; and
(6) 3% of Americans did not know or refused to answer.
I don’t know what a “through” poll is. Maybe it’s something that only exists in your mind.
Anyways, you proved my point about people commenting here being dumb. You offered up a bunch unverifiable numbers without citing where they came from. If this was an eighth grade english essay, you would fail.
Furthermore, none of those numbers had anything to do with my point. Maybe you forgot what you were talking about midway through writing, or maybe you didn’t understand what I meant when I said before that this was a stupid discussion. What I meant was: this is a stupid discussion. That doesn’t have anything to do with demographics, or how Americans consider themselves politically.
You might as well have posted Greg Maddux’s win/loss statistics over the last ten years. That would have been just as relevant of a response.
So, in the future, if you want to respond to me, go ahead. But maybe you should try responding to what I actually said, not some random topic that you feel like spouting off about.
“Don’t you idiots have anything better to do? There hasn’t been a single person who commented yet that’s sounded intelligent or well informed. It’s all knee jerk opinion vs. knee jerk opinion. Reading this back-and-forth reminded me of watching monkeys throw poop at each other at the zoo. What a huge waste of time.”
There is nothing to argue with you about, all you did was compare a bunch posters to monkeys. I’ve read some of these posts, there has been intelligent debate on this website.
moronalert:
I will explain for you how this ALL fits together. Its actually rather simple infact. The reason Fox News woops you know what every day is not because all you hear is the conservative viewpoint, it is because one can turn there and hear both sides of the issue. The far left doesnt like to hear both sides of the issue, they want the opposing view to be quiet or be silenced. The far left only makes up 9% of the American population according to many many polls including the Battleground poll which is easily accessible and is considered like I said to be the most respected and through of all polls and is conducted by 10 of our most respecte universities! You can look that up!
You didn’t add to debate instead you berated the debaters. This is a tactic that I have seen often by those on the far left. Those people also happen to be the same people who berate Fox News. If everything that Fox News is a lie who cares? TURN IT OFF! NOOOO you guys want to turn it off for everyone, yet you make up only 9% of the population.
So Moronalert it all ties together and while you guys including the White House proceed to berate Fox News you just have made them stronger. More than 1/2 of those numbers you see up there watching Fox are Indepentants and Democrats.
