  1. Lovely flag pin.

Add another one to the unemployed anchors list.

  2. That should fan the FNC and/or FBC speculative fires.

  3. Well, he didn’t exactly walk away…

  4. Outlander says:

Lou Dobbs is not coming to Fox News any time soon. He’s a tired old crank with no ratings.

Just because someone expresses conservative viewpoints from time to time (and Lou Dobbs is not a reliable conservative by any means) doesn’t mean that person is going to be a fit for Fox.

  5. Junior G, says:

Wow that definitely will fan the rumors about Dobbs moving to Fox News. But imagine if he moved to msnbc?! What disaster feud would ensue between Dobbs and Olbermann!!!

  6. AppleStinx says:

CNN had been under pressure from certain hispanic and leftist groups (Media Matters is claiming victory on this one) to silence Dobbs on illegal immigration. Who wouldn’t shup up and take 9 millions? I’d do it for 1 year. I bet there was a reasonable severance package of sorts that made CNN, Dobbs and all those ‘friends-of-the-first-amendment’ lefties happy.

  7. Bill Gorman says:

Yes, in fairness to my attention grabbing headline, it’s not as if Dobbs was leaving $9 million behind with no prospect of getting money (or whatever) from another source in the next year and a half that his contract would have run.

  8. Page says:

Dobbs has a critic on Fox News, Geraldo Rivera. Even that move would cause some friction.

  9. skillshoe says:

Who cares where he goes.It won’t make better.

  10. skillshoe says:

    It won’t make him better.

  11. What’s wrong with a flag pin? At least he’s in the country it identifies…

Some people put so much into meaningless, trivial jewelery. The nation’s on fire, but at least we’re all well-dressed, except for him. Thanks.

  12. carl says:

dobbs is a poor excuse for right leaning americans his brand of sensationalist journal has no place on a credible and reliable news source such as fox news i hope geraldo wasn’t fibbing when he said he received assurance from the bosses that they would not hire dobbs as a conservative american i am happy to see dobbs go

  13. Some people put so much into meaningless, trivial jewelery.

That is why a news reader is wearing it.

  14. Theoacme says:

Art Buchwald once wrote this about crimes that the Watergate conspirators should have been considered guilty for until proven innocent:

“Wearing an American flag pin in your lapel – wearing an American flag pin in your lapel is not a crime. It is a crime, however, to believe that anything you say when wearing it will automatically be believed.”

  15. Mike says:

He left $9 million because he wouldn’t stop talking about the birthers? What a dope, at least leave over differences about a legitimate story.

  16. Danny says:

Its shocking to me that for the fluff news we get in this country that these so called broadcast journalists are still making millions of dollars. And any legit news thats out there they are only reading from teleprompters. They aren’t even there getting their hands dirty to get the stories.

  17. Joseph says:

I guess when you have all those millions piled up in the bank (that Bernie Madoff didn’t get) a $9 million dollar incentive to stick to business analysis doesn’t really sway you. I’m reasonably certain that at the age of 64, Dobbs has enough saved to let him live comfortably for the rest of his life without having to worry about employment. He should just consider this a slightly early retirement, leave his radio show too, then spend his time with his wife and four children on his NJ horse farm – maybe put out the occasional book. My father couldn’t afford to retire and was working until he couldn’t get out of bed at age 74 and died three months later without one healthy day of retirement (and was working two jobs into his sixties). I just don’t get how spouting your political beliefs could be a bigger draw than spending what quality time you have left with your spouse and family in relative comfort. I’m wondering if you’re in that type of field if you don’t start believing you’re a lot more important than you really are.

  18. Lance says:

Dobbs did have higher ratings than both the shows before and after it, Wolf Blitzer and Campbell Brown. He also was beating Hardball his MSNBC competition at 7pm. So saying he was fired for ratings makes no sense when CNN has no talent to replace him. From what I understand though CNN is adding an hour to Rick Sanchez’s afternoon show and bumping Wolf Blitzer up an hour to cover Dobbs’ slot. My guess is Sanchez is being groomed as CNN’s Keith Olbermann and we will soon see him in CNN primetime.

I love Lou Dobbs….he was right talking about the illegal immigrants, no question about it.He is a victim of spear campaign from Media Matters. It shows that media matters supports illegal immigrants rather than our own American citizen.

  20. Scott Jensen says:

I think everyone is missing the point. Go listen to his farewell on CNN. He’s going into politics and will be running for either the US House or, my guess, US Senate in 2010. His boycotters didn’t do anything to him but raise his ratings. My guess is that he’ll announce which office he’s running for in January.

  21. AppleStinx says:

Lou Dobbs will be on the O’Reilly Factor this Monday.

  22. Chuck Amato says:

Fox News, here he comes! FNC HQ:
Roger Ailes secretary answers the phone: Lou Dobbs calling for Roger Ailes please. Yes, Mr. Dobbs, Mr. Ailes has been expecting your call, I’ll put your right through to him.
    Dobbs: Thank you.

    R. Ailes: Hello Lou, sorry to hear you got harrassed at CNN, you know I think the world of you and your honest reporting.
Dobbs: Thanks Roger, let’s make an appointment, I am anxious to strike a deal and get back on the air with FNC.

  23. Tommy Mast says:

Mr. Dobbs is laughing all the way to the bank. I’ll miss Lou Dobbs, even if it for a short time and I look forward to his reappearance wherever it is!
