Definitions:

*Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

  1. Studude190 says:

I love how consistently OTH beats Gossip Girl

  2. Chief says:

Yet ANOTHER series-low in terms of both 18-49 and total viewers for Heroes.

  3. John says:

heroes is over! there is nothing left to save

  4. Serena says:

    Studude190-

    Ditto.

Threesomes, Lady Gaga and Hilary Duff have done nothing for GG’s ratings.

  5. Julia says:

Who was saying that my guess of 2.2 for Heroes was ridiculous?

  6. Pedro Paulo says:

ihul!!! OTH beats GG even with our Lady Gaga!!!!
love OTH and I hope 8th season rocks soon…..

  7. JDF says:

If these numbers hold, Castle looks good for a third season.

  8. Schmoker says:

Any idea what FOX airing the MNF game in the Cleveland-Akron market will do to the final numbers for them?

And is that Castle number DWTS affected? Seems like a decent number.

  9. ron says:

Even Twilight guests can’t help Jay

  10. Michael says:

This is definitely going to be Heroes’ final season.

  11. Jon says:

CBS did really well last night but it’s interesting that CSI: Miami held onto 100% of the Big Bang Theory’s viewers but lost 1.3 of the demo but it was only down a tad from the hyped crossover.

Castle is doing well but it will be interesting what the final result as it may be skewed by overrun.

  12. Anonymous says:

Wow, BBT tied House in the demo on Monday

  13. mswood says:

Now if OTH would beat GG in adults 18-34 or w18-34 then you should really start being happy, until then GG will be the one the CW is more happy with.

  14. Pedro Paulo says:

well, I like Lady Gaga, also Hilary Duff, and thresomes are 10, but GG are awful this season!!!
It’s amazin to see that even with the part of main cast out from OTH, the show still have great ratings!!!

    There’s only One Tree Hill!!!!!!!!!

  15. Julia says:

Jon, CSI: Miami is the only CSI that isn’t down significantly from last year, and the crossover didn’t give it much of a bump, so it’s not surprising that it didn’t lose too much after the crossover.

Definitely want to see Castle’s final numbers. It’ll probably drop to 2.5, but if it can hold 2.6, will that be the highest it has been at in final numbers since the second or third episode last year?

  16. Chief says:

@ron I think Leno is up something like 20% from last Monday. Looks like Taylor Lautner did help indeed.

  17. Surprised House is holding its own. The last two episodes have been pretty dire. I’m hoping they’ll improve now that (apparently) House has a stable team, but…

  18. stewie says:

Any idea what FOX airing the MNF game in the Cleveland-Akron market will do to the final numbers for them?

I was wondering too, will the numbers for the finals drop?

  19. Tar says:

i thought GG would do better with lady GaGa, threesome flashbacks / after maths/ the exit of hillary duff and the introduction kevin zegers
I think GG is done with big guest stars for now (except Victoria Beckham and Kevin Zergers will be around for a while – like Duff did )

  20. Strongher says:

Well Heroes was great last monday. It’s been a long time since I didn’t Heroes sucked…

And since, even as low as it is, NBC doesn’t have anything better, that doesn’t mean the show is doomed.

  21. Matt says:

If 1.4 i all Launter can do for Leno though… Lenos toast. Sure he helped but Leno pretty much averages 1.4 anyways. If all those Twilight Fangirls can’t boost this right now, nothing will.

  22. Julia says:

Robert, I know the Tuesday results are out, when do we get to see them? :)

  23. stewie says:

Any idea what FOX airing the MNF game in the Cleveland-Akron market will do to the final numbers for them?

i was wondering about this too? will the numbers drop for LTM and House?

  24. Traci says:

Im new here. What does this mean for Trauma? thanks

  25. Julia says:

Traci, Trauma was already announced as canceled by NBC. This doesn’t mean anything for it.

  26. Michael says:

That’s 3 consecutive weeks of increase for Castle! That should count for something with ABC.

  27. Michael says:

    Trauma’s already been cancelled.

  28. Traci says:

    Thanks Julia for replying.

  29. Julia says:

Michael, I’m not sure where you’re getting your numbers. The past four episodes for Castle look like this:

    2.5
    2.4
    2.4
    2.6 (Prelim numbers, may drop)

How is that three weeks of increase?

  30. Tom says:

All that delay to find out: Everything’s pretty much static.

Lie To Me continues to be borderline – their ratings are all lead-in. Fox should pull the plug (and note: this is from someone with a massive man-crush on Shawn Ryan!).

Heroes should have that two hour series finale in Feb. Even the die-hards are giving up.

DWTS up a bit. Was that the seasonal finale?

  31. Danny S says:

Hopefully CASTLE’S numbers will hold up; last nights episode was exceptional! As usual, I’ll wait for the FINALS before I get all happy-face.

Bring back last nights Gem, “Jessup, the Locksmith who thinks he’s a wordsmith;” he needs to make a few recurring guest appearance’s! Only disappointment was no Alexis & Beckett screen time. Can’t wait for Alyssa Milano’s Guest Starring role on CASTLE, probably in January, Nathan & Alyssa have already started tweeting about it.

This camping out at the computer waiting for Monday’s number crunch is tiresome, I’ll be back tonight – Happy Numbers Hunting!

  32. Samuel says:

I expected House to be higher since it was Cameron’s last episode…

As for Heroes, well, this time its not creative, review are fairly good these times, still, they made to many mistakes in the past. Still 2.2? It’s Fringe’s demo and with less viewers than Fringe… Can’t be good.

  33. Wendy says:

Soo happy for TBBT! Monday’s episode was full of Shenny interaction and I’d be surprised if that episode isn’t Jim Parson’s & Kelly C. Emmy tape because they both nailed it! Up until this episode, I actually felt TBBT was better last year compared to this one.

Ouch to Heroes! I’m getting a bit worried about Chuck’s ability to pull in decent ratings when it returns to Mondays in 2010 because House is just a machine…destroying other shows with a 25% margin is impressive after so many years. Out of curiousity…where can I see ratings versus this time last year? People are saying Heroes is dead but I seem to recall Chuck pulling in a low 2.2 at least once last season and it got a reprieve this year…if Heroes is hitting those lows and is an in-house production, I think the show might still squeak out one more year with NBC.

  34. Chuck Tranberg says:

Doesn’t “Heroes” usually get a boost when dvr use is added in both the 18-49 demo and total viewers?

  35. Sara says:

mswood – If The CW is more happy with GG than OTH, then they are the fools we all perceive them to be. A drama in its 7th Season with missing main cast members should not be outperforming in total viewers. The demos are still good enough for OTH that The CW should be thanking its lucky stars that its still around.

  36. Julia says:

Sara, total viewers DO NOT MATTER. GG is the more successful show for CW, since it performs better in the demos that matter to CW. That doesn’t mean that OTH is on the verge of cancellation, it just means that GG is the better property for CW to sell.

  37. Michael says:

Julia, i’m not sure what the finals were, i’m just going by the headlines that i remember reading on here, last weeks was originally reported as having gone down but it was said that it actually increased. I tried to go back to the week before on here but i couldn’t but i was pretty sure i had reaad that it had gone up that week too and then this week would make three. But I most definatley could be wrong. I try to follow Castle’s ratings as much as i can cause it’s one of my favorite shows.

  38. Rufam says:

I am new here too. Is this good for HOUSE?

  39. Saruma says:

Heroes is really frustrating me. It is one of my favorite shows, and I think the current season is actually better than it has been in recent times.

The biggest problem is that the story lines, while good, are so dense and pretty much require you to have been following since the beginning of the series. This creates a huge barrier to entry for new viewers. So what happens is you get a situation where you get very few new viewers and all your left with is long time viewers. If those long time viewers miss a few episodes they too get lost and are less likely to come back.

This may not fully explain the drop in viewership, but I think it has something to do with it. It may be too late, but if they could find a way to maintain the episodic nature of the show while at the same time making it easier for new viewers to get up to speed, they may have a shot at stabilizing the ratings.

  40. Lee says:

It would be great if Castle’s numbers hold up but I’d be happy even if it fell to a 2.5 in the finals. That’s still better than the 2.2s it was getting in the beginning of the season.

DWTS hasn’t played much of a factor with Castle’s numbers this season but since it’s getting near the end it might have this time.

  41. hasu says:

    @Saruma

When was Heroes ever an episodic show that it has to “maintain” its episodic nature?

The show has become convoluted and impossible to get into for new viewers because it decided to jump through hoops to 1) keep “shocking” audiences with the “deaths” of some main characters, but 2) ALSO keep those popular main characters on the show as not to lose their fans. (I’m talking about Adrian Pasdar and, in particular, Zachary Quinto.) You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Heroes has no balls anymore.

  42. Pedro Paulo says:

Julia, that’s why CW is so ridiculous……
OTH is so more better than GG, the cast perfoms so much better, the audience is bigger and that’s all….
I think that share and numbers don’t matter, There’s more people watching OTH than GG. Point.

  43. Devorak says:

I expect House numbers to drop a little after this disaster of an episode.

Pulling people out-of-character to make a ridiculous plot work has always been a very bad sign from the creative team.

I’ve enjoyed House for 5 seasons. Really liked the start of this season until this episode. Last Monday’s ep will always be considered the final of the series in my video library. Like “V” last week, House is dead and gone for me. Life is way too short to waste time on shows which sabotage themselves (like “Sanctuary” and “Chuck” have done).

  44. Filokkz says:

    GG sucks.. that’s it

  45. Pedro Paulo says:

I don’t think that GG sucks, but OTH is SO MUCH BETTER than it.

  46. Toby says:

    I Love OTH!!!!!!!!

  47. Aaron says:

Where did Monday Night Football air in the Baltimore market? ABC? If not, a 2.5 for Castle is likely.

  48. pisher says:

Castle had a HUGE drop at the half hour.

The gap between the last half hour of DWTS and the last half hour of Castle is enormous.

I’d call it a timeslot hit, but those ratings don’t remotely qualify it as any kind of hit.

  49. Julia says:

Pedro, it doesn’t matter what you think. The fact is that total audience numbers do not matter. This has nothing to do with CW or any other network. Advertisers pay for certain demos and don’t care about anyone who falls outside of the demo. There’s no differing opinions on this. It’s a fact.

  50. Traumagrl says:

@ Julia…NBC never said the show was cancelled, they said they’d only air 13 episodes, I think if there’s a strong enough outpouring we could get them to commit.

I dunno wth they were thinking putting it up against DWTS.

  51. Julia says:

Traumagrl, NBC said they would not be ordering a back 9. That’s canceled. Feel free to waste your time and money on fan campaigns, but the sooner you come to terms with the fact that NBC canceled the show, the better.

  52. MichyGeary says:

Julia, I believe Castle got a 2.8 in one of the last three episodes last season, and I think it maintained it or increased through the finale.

  53. Tar says:

no need to fight over GG /OTH i’m 99% sure they’ll BOTH be back next season

  54. Alex says:

@ this point, if this is the last season of Heroes, id be Okay with it. Its 10 x’s better then last season. I still consider it my top show, I want another season, but its ok if it doesn’t get one.

  55. Jam says:

OTH is so more better than GG, the cast perfoms so much better, the audience is bigger and that’s all….
I think that share and numbers don’t matter, There’s more people watching OTH than GG. Point.

    TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!!!!!

Julia sorry IT DOESN’T MATTRER WHAT DO YOU THINK TOO! And that’s not a fact. OTH is better than GG. POINT. Who cares about 18-49 or 18-34!!!

  56. Dario says:

    jam @ CW CARES!

  57. Lee says:

Pisher, what were the second hour numbers for Castle?

  58. Julia says:

Oh, poor delusional fans of a show that’s guaranteed another season anyway. What does it matter that GG is doing better than OTH for CW? You still will get another season, so why do you refuse to understand the way the TV biz works? I don’t care at all about the quality of either show. I’m talking numbers only.

  59. Tar says:

paulo Gossip Girl has younger audiences , much more of the target young women it also gets alot of DVDand online viewings much more than one tree hill
I also did a poll on which CW shows do you watch and got about 10,000 votes and Gossip Girl wiped the floor with One Tree Hill (more than 2x the votes)
    http://www.spoilertv.com/2009/11/which-cw-shows-do-you-currently-watch.html

  60. Pedro Paulo says:

welll, I’m not saying that you’re wrong Julia. And like Tar said, both shows will be back next season.
It’s just a thing that I don’t understand. The story, the characters, the writters, the creator, the hole world involving OTH is so much more well done than GG. GG is not a bad show, I do not watch it every week, but it’s nice. The point is, how CW invest so much in a show, and put the real ONE by side.
OTH is in 7th season and still have great stories to tell, and GG is only in it 3rd season and need guest stars to help the story.

  61. Pedro Paulo says:

Julia, like I said, you’re right. I don’t wanna say you wrong.
I hope you understand what I’m saying.

  62. rodshooter says:

Castle’s ratings were good and stable, I’m just worried how it does on its own.

As people say, The CW’s best shows right now are OTH, 90210, and Vampire Dairies.

  63. Liam says:

Pedro is right. One Tree Hill has beaten GG every single night for the past TEN episodes in the ratings. It’s clearly just the better show.

  64. Jam says:

@Dario I know.. But OTH is a miracle. They lost two of the main characters and after all they still have good ratings. The CW should be happy. Oh GG will never have the longevity of OTH. OTH has a super perfect cast. and they were able to renew season after season. I absolutely loved the first and second seasons of GG but is beginning too disgusting, is so superficial and fake, unreal and slimy. Sorry GG fans.

@Julia Give us a break! OTH deservs another season btw

  65. Julia says:

Jam, I never said it wouldn’t get one! In fact, I said it WILL! Who cares which has been around longer or anything behind the scenes. All I’m talking about is numbers, and the numbers that count put GG on top. I’m sorry if you have a problem accepting the fact that a show can still be renewed without being the number one show on the network.

  66. Carol says:

I don’t get the controversy between Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. The numbers posted above show the same demo for both in 18-49 year olds. So how is Gossip Girl doing better than One Tree Hill? (I don’t watch either of those shows).

  67. Jam says:

@pedro: One Tree Hill has beaten GG every single night for the past TEN episodes in the ratings. It always has been. ALWAYSOTH has loyal fans.

  68. Carol, though the #s are not included above, Gossip Girl is doing better with women 18-34, which is the CW’s primary target demographic most nights.

  69. Pedro Paulo says:

welll, I said what I had to say.
I hope Julia understand what I said.

Just for your consideration, this situation is not only in USA.
I’m from Brazil, and here the marketing from GG is huge comparing the OTH.
The 6th season just started here, and here already have the 3rd from GG.

It’s a shame, cause OTH is D-E-F better then GG.

  70. rodshooter says:

I don’t buy those demos spins when it comes to GG, OTH is clearly beating it every week and I mean beating it and its been out for like 7-8 years.

  71. The Other Tony says:

I wouldn’t be so sure that Heroes is done after this season. I think it’s ratings compared to other networks aren’t good but for what NBC has it’s still one of it’s top scripted shows and does well in DVD sales and overseas sales. I don’t think it’s a slam dunk at all. I personally wouldn’t mind if it ended. I think this season has been strong than the previous 2 but I’m totally ok with it ending if it’s done right. I just don’t think NBC is ready to gut everything from it’s lineup for next season.

I love that OTH continues to do better than Gossip Girl. GG is the most over rated over hyped poorly rated show in TV history.

I think Castle will survive to next season but I would like to see it aired on another night or following a weaker show to get a true read on how strong it’s audience is.

How much longer will CBS hang onto HIMYM? It’s still an ok performer but is it starting to run it’s course?

  72. Jam says:

Yeah u’re right. OTH was never prometed so much…

  73. Jam, and Gossip Girl is promoted a ton in Italy? C’mon.

  74. Pedro Paulo says:

I hope next season they do some kind of big promotion for OTH, Supernatural and 90210. GG is the lovely show for CW. And now they only have eyes for Vampires……kkkk

maybe they can do some crossovers between Supernatural and Vampire.. will be huge…. and OTH and Life Unexpected….

    dreams….. dreams….

  75. Lester's Fan says:

For a while there, I thought I was at TVBYDELUSION.COM

  76. UH says:

Jam … I do not think that matter here is which show is better ( personal taste) but which show is chosen by the people the Network care of ….Of course in this case the discussion is a waste of time since it looks like both shows will renewed anyhow :) . of course you can always states that OTH is better of GG but GG performs better by the network standards …that’s it

  77. FaLCo says:

You know i feel For Julia. She is the only one with the logical argument while rest of you are just ranting about how good one tree hill is. We get it. OTH is better. Enough with that already

CW mostly cares about the Women 18-34 Ratings. It is true that in Adults 18-49, both OTH and GG have similiar ratings (1.2) but in Women 18-34, GG is ahead of OTH. Nobody is saying that GG is better than OTH. It’s just that from CW’s targeted audience point of view Gossip Girl has higher ratings.

BTW i think For CW shows we should have the 18-34 Women rating separately as well to avoid all these arguments :)

  78. Jam says:

@ Robert. Yeah actually GG is promoted a lot here in Italy, and OTH has never been so promoted, but OTH is followed by more persons than GG in Italy. GG is a total failure

  79. Elyk says:

Heroes is dead. The only thing keeping it alive is that NBC is a bad network already, so a show with its numbers is good for them. Also the DVD sales are pretty good.

Can’t believe TBBT beat House in viewers.

  80. Julia says:

FaLCo, I hope it’s just a language barrier thing and it’s not that certain posters are just willfully not getting it. ;)

  81. Matthew says:

Nathan and Haley are basically the only reason I’m watching One Tree Hill. I’m not as attached to Gossip Girl and I find it to be a lot more exciting and interesting as far as the whole show goes. It seems to me a lot more balanced and I don’t get disappointed with it like One Tree Hill where my favorite entertainment couple get horrible storylines.

Gossip Girl gets the higher W18-34 rating which is all that matters for the CW.

  82. Lucy says:

I’m confused. Mediaweek, citing as their source “Nielsen Media Research” is informing different numbers for Heroes:

    NBC – Heroes
    Viewers: 5.42 million, A18-49: 2.3/6

  83. Julia says:

Lucy, that’s for the first half hour. The second half hour fell to a 2.1 in the demo, making it an average of 2.2.

  84. Lucy says:

    Ok! Thank you!

  85. Jackie says:

It think One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl both peaked in terms of ratings. I wonder what the ratings will be after the winter hiatus. I’m guessing terrible.

  86. Kareem says:

    @Studude190

Because Gossip Girl isn’t very good this season.

  87. Ken says:

WOW, if Heroes is getting more viewers than Jay Leno…There is no saving NBC!

  88. UH says:

    jam ,

1- In Italy we have the use to consider the total audience and not the demo ( maybe Nielsen give demos data only to the advertisers ) .

2- OTH and GG went on air on 2 different network and GG got the private Italia 1 that normally advertise its product a little better than state TV.

3- Gossip Girl premiered on digital pay tv MIA and THEN on Italia 1

So I would be carefull to say that GG was a failure in Italy :)

  89. Jam says:

I think the whole issue of W 18-34 is just an excuse to say that GG beats OTH. I know that W18-34 rating is all that matters for the CW. Even Supernatural and Smallville have better ratings than GG, but GG beats both in W 18-34. What does it mean? It doesn’t make any sense. Only Melrose Place is worst than GG on The CW.

  90. It doesn’t make any sense that people from Italy weigh in on how much GG and OTH are promoted in the US and by the way of OTH isn’t getting any promotion in Italy, but GG is, that’s the Italian networks choosing and has nothing to do with the CW. While I doubt it is even true, to complain about lack of promotion for OTH vs GG in Italy is funny. I imagine neither show gets watched very much in Italy.

Here in the US, The CW focuses on W18-34 (particularly Monday-Wednesday). That OTH has more viewers doesn’t mean much of anything to its revenue potential.

  91. FaLCo says:

    @Matthew

I agree with you. I used to be a die hard fan of OTH. One tree hill Season 4 eps 9 when they win state is still one of the best tv show episodes imo. Definitely in top 3. But ever since they had a 4 year jump from high school, the show started to go down the drain. Now most of the dialogues and scenes seem cheesy to me. I was praying in the last season that this show should be cancelled so at least i would have a good last memory of the show. But they’ll definitely bury any good thought any one had for this show.

Gossip Girl on the other hand is different. I was never a hardcore fan of this show. So i still watch it and sometimes enjoy it. Overall OTH might still be better , but comparing to first 4 seasons, it is the worst thing that you can do to such a great show

  92. Jam says:

Yes you’re right but GG has been very successful only when it was aired in the afternoon. And OTH had 0 promotion!! I agree with you in Italy GG was really successful. But in the USA 2 episodes so far hitting below the 2 millions.

  93. Kay says:

I enjoy Heroes very much and think this season has been great. I hate trying to figure out the ratings mess for this show. I just think Monday is a tough night. Also, I did watch Heroes but wonder how many fans went ahead and used their DVRs to view the show later while watching the Prisoner miniseries on AMC. I skipped V on Tuesday to catch the final 2 hrs. of The Prisoner on AMC, knowing I can watch V later.

    SGA

  94. FaLCo says:

    @ Jam

Don’t you think most of the tv shows of cw are targeted for women? 90210, melrose place, gossip girl and one tree hill . don’t you see the similiarity? smallville and supernatural are not the true cw shows. they were WB channel’s shows and cw got them after the merger and kept them on due to better ratings

    @ all the italy people

who cares about ratings in italy. they don’t affect the decision making process of renewing/cancelling the shows

  95. FaLCo says:

btw oth was also a wb show

  96. Jackie says:

Oth is a old WB show, but the audience is mostly female.

  97. Sara says:

The Heroes numbers are breaking my heart. That is all :-(

  98. FaLCo says:

    from wikipedia:

    :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

The “CW” name is derived from the first letter of the names of these corporations (CBS and Warner Bros.). The network features a lineup of shows that, according to its President of Entertainment Dawn Ostroff, “appeal to women 18 to 34-years-old” [1]. The network currently airs programming 6 days a week: Monday through Friday afternoons and evenings (in prime time), and Saturday morning children’s programming.

  99. Julia says:

Wow, it’s like talking to a door.

  100. I am closing the door :-)

  101. Dirk says:

    Strongher,

The reason Heroes didn’t suck last Monday was because it was set in season one – when it was an awesome show.

I don’t care about Heroes anymore, it needs tagging and bagging at this point.

    Such a shame.

  102. good grief says:

CW should be happy with OTH they spend nothing to promote it and it still does ok by comparison to its other series

  103. Jam says:

Heyy it’s the door!! Joke, everyone has different opinions. That’s all! :)

  104. Julia says:

There are not opinion on facts. There are just facts. Last time I’ll say it.

  105. Jam says:

@ good grief That’s what i’m talking about!!! finally someone agrees with me

  106. kelly says:

I know it doesn’t matter, but I love that Trauma got more overall viewers than Heroes again.

  107. A5J4D X says:

omg my heart is bleeding for heroes :(

  108. Sausageroll says:

    Heroes! NOOOOO!
    Its so good this season!
    D’:

  109. average viewers don’t matter. Not to advertisers, so not to the CW. Only to the fans, and apparently, in this case, only fans who can’t actually watch the CW anyway.

  110. jam says:

Why did you delete my post?

  111. K.H says:

Can “Its not promoted well in Italy” be included in the next series of Fan Excuse BINGO cards! Lol!

  112. Lana says:

I can’t believe that a great show like Trauma is on the endangered or even cancelled list! In my opinion, this program should have never been put opposite DWT. Why doesn’t NBC move the show to another night? Does anyone agree with me or is there something I’m not getting? We love the show and one of the reasons is because of the fact that it’s completely different from others. We love the fact that it’s filmed in San Francisco. The scenery and photography is unbelieveable. The acting is great and the characters, so diverse. What can we “little people” do to change this?

  113. Joe D says:

@K.H – good one! Maybe we can add “it got a 0.0 like 30 Rock in Germany,” too.

  114. kelly says:

Lana, I’m right there with you! I also feel like it’s the kind of show that would translate well overseas and do well in syndication. Poor Trauma.

  115. UH says:

Hum kelly , Lana … maybe you missed the news about Trauma cancellation …sorry

  116. Traci says:

NBC needs to get rid of that mess called The Jay Leno Show.

  117. Brian says:

Heroes DOWN on the night after perhaps the biggest Sunday Night Football game of the season and one of the greatest games to boot? All that promotion didn’t help? Wooooooooooow.

  118. carmen says:

I’m surprised that HIMYM does as well as it does in this time slot. It could get ratings around 2 1/2 men and BBT if it was on in their time slots. Going against House and DWTS really hurts it. I’d like to see how well shows like ‘Old Christine and Modern Family would do at 800 Monday

  119. Brad says:

    Poor Julia :(

  120. Dario says:

    ARE THIS THE FINAL NUMBERS???

  121. Robert Marino says:

Oh My God! Almost 13 million people were watching House, and then, as soon as Lie To Me came on, over 5 million of them changed the channel! Doesn’t bode well for Lie To Me.

  122. jessé says:

Sara, total viewers DO NOT MATTER. GG is the more successful show for CW, since it performs better in the demos that matter to CW. That doesn’t mean that OTH is on the verge of cancellation, it just means that GG is the better property for CW to sell.
Julia CW cares for 18-35 i’m sorry =D

  123. jessé says:

IT’S A FACT TOO THAT CW IS MORE HAPPY WITH GG BECAUSE IT’S VERY SUCEESFULL, NOT BECAUSE OF THE RATINGS! PEOPLES TALK A LOT ABOUT GG, OTH IS NOT LIKE THAT SORRY IS A FACT =)

  124. jam says:

    this week:

    GG: 2.25 (1.2/3)
    OTH: 2.62 (1.2/3)

    [tvbythenumbers]

    GG:”Gossip Girl” (2.2 million, 1.5/2)

    OTH:”Gossip Girl” (2.2 million, 1.5/2)

    [zap2it]

    Whom should i believe?

OTH is still better than GG even without a lot of guest stars, threesomes and gay kiss! Sorry that’s my opinion.

  125. jam says:

    Sorry i meant:

    ”Gossip Girl” (2.2 million, 1.5/2)

“One Tree Hill” (2.6 million, 1.7/3)

    [zap2it]

  126. SciFiGeekNJ says:

Wow I’m amazed that Lie to Me still pulls in over 7 million viewers against the highest rated show of the evening (not to mention another established power house of Two and a Half Men) and people are stating it should be cancelled.

  127. Julia says:

Jam, zap2it is using household ratings, not demo ratings.

  128. jam says:

Oh thx Julina ;) Are u still mad at me?? ;) Joke

  129. aznfratboy says:

They really should’ve found a better night for Trauma, put it together with Mercy, it would’ve made more sense, now Trauma is dead, Mercy will die once may rolls round, 2/4 of the comedies NBC has are dead, NBC is screwed, they really need to rethink their structure.

CBS should rethink cancelling Accidently, after all, if someone were to watch How I Met Your Mother, it’s unlikely they’re going to change channel, they’ve missed half the episode of House/Dancing/One Tree Hill/Heroes already…

I hope Castle gets a third season, I really like it over here in Aus.

  130. Tommy says:

SciFiGeek, it’s not total viewers that count when it comes to cancellation/renewal, it’s all about the demo. And Lie to Me isn’t competing against the other networks, it’s competing against the rest of FOX’s line up. Lie to Me loses almost half of the demo leadin from House. That’s not working in it’s favor. But it’s demo average is slightly above the networks average, so for right now it still looks like it’s ok. It’s close to borderline, but for now it’s fine.

  131. UH says:

I’m more surprised we had only one post from pisher in the Castle day :)

  132. ileandromp says:

Castle up!, yay!, this show deserves more credit then what they get. i love that show.
    TBBT’s episode was HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!

  133. House Addict says:

Yay! My two favorite shows rule the Monday! TBBT was awesome, one of the best episodes ever. House wasn’t it’s usual brilliance.. but still great of course. I mean, it’s House we’re talking about.

  134. bob says:

Castle will stay mondays at 10 for the remainder of season 2. It will have the bachelor for a leadin soon, so we will c the ratings then, and most likely that will decides Castles fate.

After this season, if castle survives, I think ABC will move it to an 8pm slot somewhere, like tues or wed. Keep it away from thurs cuz people already watcxh bones, which is very similar. But we will have to wait til may to c.

  135. marenamoo says:

    Castle (58 minutes)
    - 10.528 million viewers
    - 6.9/12 HH
    - 2.5/7 A18-49

    final

  136. UH says:

To whoever can reply , maybe you already said a plenty of time , but in the renew/cancellation index , do you take in account the week by week rating or the avarage ?

  137. Julia says:

UH, the index is based on the average, but sometimes shows will be highlighted in a color that doesn’t match with their index due to recent ratings. Like FlashForward is currently at 1.00 on the index, but it is in orange because the past two episodes rated 2.6, which isn’t a very good number for ABC.

  138. Tammy says:

Eventhough Heroes dropped for a 2nd straight week(2.2, 5.06 million viewers), it does get a 30%increase with DVR viewings. IF can’t say anything nice about Heroes, don’t say anything at all. It is as good or even better than season 1. I expect one more season.

  139. Becki says:

Are the final numbers out? They are usually posted on this site.

  140. UH says:

    Thanks Julia

  141. forg says:

Bill, Robert, if possible, I hope you make a separate post about the final numbers for easy reference.

HIMYM is holding up really well, very pleased with its performance.

  142. Tim says:

Now that Mohinder is back on Heroes and he and Parkman are both alive and well I predict Heroes will drop under 5 million viewers for the next original episode. Keeping those two useless characters around is going to cause more fans to bolt! LMAO!

  143. JaySin420 says:

Heroes was actually really good last night but I wonder how many people turned it off when Mohinder showed up. That guy is the Heroes version of kryptonite.

  144. vsaint says:

Lie To Me isn’t a very good show, there’s a reason it’s gotten 13 episode orders in both seasons. It got additional few this year.
Plus with a huge HOUSE lead in, they were hoping for something like what Fringe got last year, 80% retention rate, not 55%. It’s borderline.

Last Year HOUSE ratings were down, i know alot of people didn’t like 13, Taub and Cutner. They got rid of Cutner, personal decision not creative one. I think they learned something and reduced 13 and Taub roles early this year.
This year the brought back Chase and Cameron into more full time roles.
Let’s see next week if ratings fall.

  145. tvmegafan says:

NO HEROES YOU WERE DOIN SOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD.What happened. I love this show.

    ***

The CBS comedies all fell down but at least TBBT still managed to get 5.0, matching House’s demo,.

DWTS is up and looks like it could crack 20 million viewers and a 4.0 for its finale next week

  147. tdot says:

the big bang theory is gonna make a killing in syndication

  148. Kate says:

House just lost Cameron permanently and probably many of her fans will leave now. And it looks like the rest of the show is a repeat of season 5, which was the worst season yet. I expect House’s numbers will keep going down this season now.

NBC will probably keep Leno because it’s so cheap to produce compared to a scripted drama.

It looks like Castle is going to be the sleeper show, like NCIS was.

  149. Tony says:

wow. TBBT beat House in viewers and HH. and tied in Adults 18-49

  150. Fennerbender says:

Poor pisher Castle numbers go up and the latest “War and Peace” audio book is narrated by Gilbert Gottfried. Its a sad day in pisherville.

  151. girl says:

i don’t understand how TBBT tied House. TBBT is Ok at best but this epi was the worst ever. the whole pot thing was stupid and unrealistic. as for HOuse i don’t think the ratings will drop because for every one who stops watching due to her exit people who did not like her (and there are more of them than you think!) will start watching again. I like this epi of house and thought they handeled her exit very well and teh epi was very interesting.

  152. H.B. says:

Without the big media hype and constant undeserved promotion from the CW each season Gossip Girl would be nothing. So many people buy into the hype of that show it’s ridiculous. One Tree Hill, however, is in it’s 7th? season or something now and CW barely pays it any attention (as usual) and it is still a strong performer each season. It either matches GG’s ratings most nights or outperforms them, that isn’t a fluke. OTH has devoted fans and the writing has remained strong considering all the changes the show has undergone over all these years. I’m not hating of GG but let’s give credit to OTH. GG will never last eight seasons. But of course they’ll BOTH be back next season so we all win there! :)

  153. Skouse says:

How is House and TBBT tied?
House is 5.1/13 where as TBBT is 5.1/12
house is 13 where as TBBT is 12
dosn’t that mean that house got the higher demo?

  154. Julia says:

Skouse, the 12 and 13 are the share. They really don’t mean much when you are comparing things that air in different timeslots. More people watch TV at 9 than at 8, therefore a 5.1 rating is a slightly smaller percentage of all the people watching TV at 9 than at 8.

  155. Dan says:

H.B. – well its obvious why CW doesnt promote OTH. ITs an older series likely to end soon while Gossip Girl is still young and a CW original that the network wants to grow and become a OTH. OTH may seem safe for 2010-2011 but like Smallville by May 2011 both veterans will be gone. EVen a few weeks ago I thought it was possible that Smallville may get dumped by May 2010 and OTH would be slid to the Friday night 9:00 “WB veteran drama final season dump slot”

  156. Kate says:

    @girl

House has been losing audience hugely over the past year because of the focus on Thirteen and Foreman and people getting fed up with how badly Huddy is being written. Since Cameron was barely on last season (in less than half the episodes and only significant in 3 of them), it’s doubtful that dropping her entirely is going to bring as many viewers back to the show as those who will stop watching because she’s gone, and those who will give up on the show being as good as it was in the first seasons.

The TBBT episode may have been a bad one but House has had a string of bad episodes over the past two seasons. There isn’t a single major review who hasn’t been complaining of it.

  157. Silku says:

I would say there is certain pattern to BBT episodes this season. The A story with Sheldon is very funny and B story with either Penny/Leonard, Raj/Howard or like last episode Leonard/Raj/Howard are most of the time mediocre and just not that funny.

In last night episode i found Sheldon/Penny part of the story very funny, worth an A in my book, while the other story was cringe inducing – so D worthy.

While last 2 seasons i didn’t quite understand why Sheldon gets so much praise, as for me while he was often very funny, almost as often he was just annoying and obnoxius, to the point i didn’t want to watch his part of the story. But this season they toned down his bad side, so he became my favourite character.

  158. R.G says:

OTH is going to beat Heroes next season if Heroes continues to be as confusing and boring as Lost is.

  159. jessé says:

H.B. – well its obvious why CW doesnt promote OTH. ITs an older series likely to end soon while Gossip Girl is still young and a CW original that the network wants to grow and become a OTH. 160. Nottherebutnotthere says:

Castle UP! YES. I think Castle has a good chance of getting a third season. Like someone said, its a sleeper show. Not break out hit but a steady show. ABC doesn’t have too many of them. I’m glad cause its one of the only shows I make time for in the week, everything else I watch on hulu.

  161. david says:

How can Heroes be going down when the shows get better and better as the season goes on? As NBC should know, Monday is NOT the best night for a SCI FI type show to be on. It should move it to Saturdays when there is NOTHING on TV and I bet it gets just as good of a rating if not better

  162. sierra says:

I love how people act like GG does SO MUCH BETTER in the demos than OTH…some weeks they’re actually tied in the demos, and every other week GG is only like .2 better. the network looks at the W18-34 demo PRIMARILY, but that doesn’t mean over-all viewers and the other demos mean absolutely nothing. With all these things combined, the CW is really thick-headed if it doesn’t value OTH over GG. GG doesn’t have consistent fans, as is obvious by how many people have quit watching now that it’s so bad, but OTH will always have a loyal fanbase that will come back as long as the show is on.

  163. Ray says:

I think, honestly, it might be time for the CW to rework its schedule!
And honestly, maybe it’s the end of Gossip Girl
If I was making the CW schedule, i would do as follows:
I would put Gossip Girl BACK on Tuesday’s at 8PM,because that is where it was more succesful… followed by Supernateral at 9. Supernatural is more likely to get renewed, and gets better ratings…but it could also help GG..
I would move the Vampire Diaries to Tuesday at 8, for no other reason that it coule help 90210. 90210 should be put back at 9. Vampire Diaries is usually the number one CW show (sometimes loses to ANTM tho…). While it is doing well on Thursdays, i think it is less competetive for it to air Tuesdays at 8, and it could provide the right lead in for a ratings improvement in 90210.
Wednesday night I would keep America’s next Top Model on at 8 oclock, and have Melrose Place follow it at 9. I think Melrose really needs a lead in. Even though 90210 gets good ratings, I too think it needs a lead in. The two shows are very similar, so it might have been a mistake putting them on the same night. I know MP might get canceled, but if it is renewed, ANTM is the right lead in for it.

Thursday night should be devoted to launching new shows next year. They had success with new shows on Thursdays before, so if any new shows come next year…This is the night for them.

Smallville should stay on Friday nights. Ratings for it still might not be great, but they seem to be stable. One Tree Hill is doing good this season, but putting it on fridays at 9, after Smallville, could ultimately boost the ratings, and then let them level out with an increase.

Any left over timeslots could be filled with repeats, as it is already done now. That’s just what I think the CW should do to give their shows more support in the ratings.

  164. Ray says:

NO i meant i would put Gossip Girl on MONDAYS at 8. NOT Tuesdays. Sorry for the typo.

  165. Eavesdropper says:

My prediction is that House’s ratings will start dropping quite a bit over the next few weeks and into next year. They’ve introduced a ridiculous, unlikely plot line, with one of the two main characters (Cuddy) having a relationship with a very weak, much disliked one. Since the relationship between House and Cuddy was the focus of most fans, there is huge anger, even outrage, amongst them. The fans feel betrayed, a fact which has been made worse by leaked story-lines that show the disliked relationship going way into next year. The producers could salvage this by re-writing their bad plot, but I doubt they will.

  166. Julia says:

Oh how I love when shippers think ship outrage translates into declining ratings.

  167. Jarrett says:

Clearly Julia isn’t a House fan. They’re a really different bunch, and the “Huddy” thing — as they call it — is a very big deal to them. We’ll see if Eavesdropper or Julia is right.

  168. Eavesdropper says:

Julia seems to be saying that a stupid plot-line can’t sink a show just so long as it involves a ship. That doesn’t sound very smart…

  169. Julia says:

I haven’t watched House in years, but it seems to me that you are saying this storyline is stupid because it’s not Huddy. And on the internet, the Huddy camp may be strong (though I’ve heard more about the House/Wilson shippers), but that has nothing to do with real life.

  170. OBloodyhell says:

Heroes is up against House this season. There’s no surprise its numbers suck. What will be interesting is what happens when it gets moved back to its old 9pm time slot later on, and isn’t up against one of the top shows on TV.

  171. john says:

castle and liet to me both hanging in there , they are only 2 I watch on monday

  172. N says:

What is wrong with you Internet “House” fans? Cameron leaves and you act like it’s the end of the show? The show is called HOUSE for a reason. The show is not called CAMERON or CHASE or (thank goodness) FOREMAN. It’s called House. The show is about House. This year they have been focusing on HOUSE. House’s numbers are actually up from the end of last year. Stop with all this Cameron leaves the show is done crap. She has a part to play. So does everyone else. Get over it.HOuse’s numbers will go up and down, just like any shows.
