So I read press releases where Networks cite their respective shows winning this demo, that demo, or total viewers. They all seem ecstatic to win one, all, or both? In reality? Forgetting the spin? Which matters most? Which do they want to win the most or does it matter because they are going to spin it regardless?
And for the second straight week noboody care
Oh, Jim, it seems as if someone cares. Cares enough to post about it, yeah? That makes 3 people that care, apparently.
Wow, this is 2nd week in a row that ABC is making a big deal about still bad number, and its not even close to being honest spin.
JKL comes on at midnight, he should have a higher audience than Fallon and Ferguson who start 30 minutes later.
ABC must be hiring NBC’s spin crew.
Well of course. Jimmy Fallon is horrible.
Kimmel must have an uncle Vinny or something that owns the network. How in THEEE hell is that hump still making television shows? The crowd only woo-hoos after a bit is over, any laughs are clearly sweetened in post and the host looks like he’s in mile 39 of the Bataan death march. Dreary, unimaginative and just plain done.
Come on ABC – go get Jon Stewart to seamlessly dovetail out of Nightline and stop the Kimmel madness before it kills another viewer!
You hate on Kimmel (which I don’t have a problem with, to each his own) but then support the dreadful Jon Stewart? What is this world coming to?
Cucumber! I’d watch a fat guy dropping a deuce for an hour before I’d ever watch Kimmel again. I just think because Nightline is doing so well ratings-wise with its political stuff, Stewart would be a nice fit for after…
But I don’t care who/what they replace krappy kimmel with. As long as he’s replaced. I just don’t get how he’s a celebrity.
Jimmy Kimmel is better than Leno, Conan, Ferguson, Fallon and Daily. All of you haters are just jealous that Jimmy got a piece off Sarah Silverman. Jimmy Kimmel Live is as good as Letterman in 1983. If you don’t see that then you are an idiot.
Personally never got the Silverman thing. I think she looks like an ape and radiates zero sexuality. But as far as comparing ANY show, let alone one that has never gotten any real buzz behind it, to Letterman circa 1983, is just silly.
Kimmel has never averaged above a 1.6 for a season. There’s just no real reason to watch his show and when I have, I am stunned how it stays on the air. It’s just a big snore fest and he’s really unappealing to look at.
heep, no one is forcing you to like it, he’s doing a great job and his show is one of the funniest things on television right now. If you don’t see that then it’s your own shortcomings in recognizing humor. Perhaps you may like the lameness of Jay Leno.
JK – nobody watches the show. It barely beats reruns on the wb. Its all ripped off from talk soup and not necessarily the news. What’s there to like? Nobody would care if it were canceled, because there’s zero buzz about it. I just think that with the recent returned success of Nightline, ABC would want something after that had some appeal and not the same 4 jokes every night.
Do you work there or something?
Yes, Conan, Leno, and Letterman are all funny, but compared to Jimmy Kimmel, they’re all about as funny as a terrible fire at an elementary school. The Jimmy Kimmel Show is, without a doubt, the funniest late night talk show on right now. heep, I have to agree with JK about your comedic shortcomings. If you can’t find humor in this show, you’re probably extremely boring. And no, I don’t work there, although I would love to…
I dunno fellas, numbers don’t lie over 6 years. ABC would be glad to replace it if they werent worried about giving that time back to the affiliates. The show hasnt made money, or done anything in award land – usually good indicators that it’s a quality show.
Im done arguing. Lets agree to disagree.
By the way…I’m the EP on another late night show, so I am biased. And funny.
Omg I luv jimmy kimmel!!! Ferguson is just flat-out annoying, so is carson.
IMO, money and awards are NOT good indicators of a quality show. All of the late night shows, aside from Jimmy Kimmel’s, are just doing the same tired crap that has already been done for 20+ years.
Have you seen the custom advertisements that have been playing before the start of the show lately? Even though I skip traditional commercials with my DVR, I actually watch these commercials because they are actually interesting and funny.
And while the other shows bring in very boring, traditional mainstream music acts and allow them to play on a tiny indoor stage, Jimmy Kimmel’s show has a huge outdoor stage and exposes viewers to new, interesting music.
If you are the EP on another show, I can only recommend to start taking some cues from this show. Hell, just steal a bunch of these ideas, that’s what your writers have already been doing for a while now.
heep
what r u the ep of? Let’s have some real late night wars! Yay!
