No numbers here, but I think this is a pretty good idea for Disney Channel, which since it’s not advertiser supported could presumably change its schedule more easily than networks that are. Certainly much more interesting for fans than, say, Fox filling Christmas Night with a 4 episode mini-marathon of ‘Til Death.
Disney Channel viewers will determine the network’s New Year’s Eve programming lineup by voting for their favorite episodes and music videos at DisneyChannel.com, beginning Friday.
The winning programs will air Dec. 31 from 6 p.m.-12:30 a.m. in a block entitled “New Year’s Star Showdown.”

Pretty good idea there, but is there anything good to watch on this channel anymore?
@Brent
Phineas & Pherb: It’s a show done by one of the former directors of Family Guy.
So that means Hannah Montana will be aired from 6 – 12:30am then right!!
lol @ kyle.
I agree.
This is good way for the Disney channel to gage what the kids are really crazy to vote for. Sort of like how mtv used constant feedback from thier viewers to decided what music videos to play back in the day.
Disney Channel Brazil did the same thing here last year. But instead of TV series, ir aired movies.
Correcting: it aired…
There needs to be a section so I can write-in Dollhouse for this! I really think Dollhouse’s audience could expand if only it could be exposed to a larger audience, and what better place than the Disney Channel for that! I truly believe that Dollhouse is the sort of show all children and preteens should be watching, not those awful “Hannah Montana” and “Wizards of Waverly Place” shows! Sure, Dollhouse includes a lot of sex and violence, but children should really learn the truth about the way the world works ASAP! When a seven year old asks his parent, “Mommy, what’s a prostitute?” she should have the good sense to sit her son down in front of the TV and let him discover the answer from Dollhouse!
Dollhouse! Dollhouse!! Dollhouse!
There should be no option for them crappy teeny-bopper live action shows they have on there. The only ones that like them are kids who are too STUPID to have taste in good television.
I say they should only give us options of cartoons. Including the older Mickey ones.
I stopped watching this station when they axed KyleXY
Elaine,
Not to sound snarky, but you obviously never watched Disney Channel if you stopped watching them because they cancelled KYLE XY. KYLE XY never aired on Disney Channel. KYLE XY was an ABC Family series.
Hasn’t Disney Channel been doing this for New Year’s Eve for a couple years now?
If I had my choice, it would be Raven non-stop all night. The TV show, too.
