Though Lie To Me was picked up for a full season, it’s not yet clear where it will air. At this point with so much information already released, I’ll just let you get to the release. Via FOX:

FOX is announcing premiere dates of new and returning series as well as revisions to its 2009-2010 midseason schedule. FOX also has ordered a full season of the sophomore drama LIE TO ME.
January starts off on a high note when the ninth season of AMERICAN IDOL, television’s No. 1 series, begins with a two-night premiere Tuesday, Jan. 12 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Wednesday, Jan. 13 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). Immediately following AMERICAN IDOL on Jan. 13 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), FOX unveils the not-to-be-missed series debut of OUR LITTLE GENIUS, a new unscripted series that features America’s most gifted kids as they are tested with some of the most challenging and difficult questions that only a remarkable little genius could answer.
A special extended primetime event on Sunday, Jan. 17 kicks off with the NFC DIVISIONAL PLAYOFF (4:00 PM-CC ET live/1:00 PM-CC PT live), which leads into the explosive series preview of HUMAN TARGET (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), the new full-throttle, action-packed drama about a unique private contractor (Mark Valley) who will stop at nothing – even if it means becoming a human target – to save his clients. The special primetime event concludes with the first installment of the pulse-pounding two-night, four-hour premiere of 24 (9:00-11:00 PM ET/PT). The season premiere of 24 clocks in for two more hours of action Monday, Jan. 18 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), and the season premiere of HUMAN TARGET airs Wednesday, Jan. 20 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) following AMERICAN IDOL (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).
On Sunday, Jan. 10, FOX presents a special SIMPSONS event beginning with the animated series’ milestone 450th episode, “Once Upon a Time in Springfield” (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT), in which BART (Nancy Cartwright) and MILHOUSE (Pamela Hayden) try to help KRUSTY (Dan Castellaneta) regain his popularity after network executives force him to restructure the format of his television show by hiring a female sidekick, PRINCESS PENELOPE (guest voice Anne Hathaway). Then, Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Morgan Spurlock (“Super Size Me,” “30 Days”) will present The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special: in 3-D! on Ice! (8:30-9:30 PM ET/PT). The documentary special examines the global phenomenon that is THE SIMPSONS and serves as the momentous conclusion to the “Best. 20 Years. Ever.,” a year-long global celebration of THE SIMPSONS that launched in January 2009.
Chef Gordon Ramsay steps out of his own kitchen to serve up a new season of KITCHEN NIGHTMARES on Friday, Jan. 29 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). Each week, Chef Ramsay will try to help turn around some of the most unsanitary and unsuccessful restaurants in New York, New Jersey, Florida and California on the verge of closing their doors forever.
PAST LIFE, a new drama series inspired by the book “The Reincarnationist” about detectives who investigate the world of the unexplained, will bow with a two-hour series premiere Thursday, Feb. 11 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and will make its time period premiere Thursday, Feb. 18 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).
SONS OF TUCSON, the new family comedy from Emmy Award winner Todd Holland (“Wonderfalls”) about three young brothers who hire a charming, wayward schemer to stand in as their father when their real one goes to prison, debuts Sunday, March 14 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT).
AMERICAN IDOL sings on Tuesdays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) when it makes its time period premiere Jan. 19 followed by the time period premiere of OUR LITTLE GENIUS (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), and 24 syncs up for its time period premiere Monday, Jan. 25 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).
After its fall finale Wednesday, Dec. 9 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), GLEE returns from its interlude with a score of all-new episodes on a new night beginning Tuesday, April 13 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). FRINGE delves into its winter finale Thursday, Feb. 4 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and then resurfaces with new cases beginning Thursday, April 1 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). Joss Whedon’s DOLLHOUSE goes out with a bang with its series finale Friday, Jan. 22 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).
[EDITOR’S NOTE 1: LIE TO ME will return to the schedule in the late spring, and ‘TIL DEATH will return to the schedule at a later date.]
[EDITOR’S NOTE 2: THE CLEVELAND SHOW takes over the timeslot previously held by AMERICAN DAD, which will return to the schedule at a later date.]
[EDITOR’S NOTE 3: THE SIMPSONS milestone 450th episode and The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special: in 3-D! on Ice! special, which were previously announced to air Thursday, Jan. 14, are now scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 10.]

Wow…lame.
Glee not intill April what the hell
Sons in March? Wow. I won’t even bother with Past Life or Human Target.
Human Target kinda looks good
Oh poor Til Death left out of the schedule again at least Dollhouse had an airdate with its series finale.
I’m surprised Our Little Genius is getting the post AI slot, maybe Lie to Me will replace that if that show does not do well (they could put that show on Fridays if it tanks)
Interesting.
I like debuting Human Target with 24 and out of an NFC game, couple that with the Idol lead-in and Fox is putting a lot into getting Human Target off the ground, its almost as if those rumours that 24 is done and Human Target is its chosen successor are true! Moving Glee to Tuesday nights and opposite Lost will either work exceptionally well or backfire horribly. It is every inch counter programming for Lost though so there is some logic to that move.
Elsewhere its all pretty standard, not sure about this Our Little Genius show and there does seem to be unholy amount of show moving going on with this schedule.
Our Little Genius sounds like crap. I can’t believe I watch more shows on CW.
Oh I just noticed Sit Down Shut Up is still there, I thought all the episodes have already aired on that slot
Forg, on the plus side, Bill gets to hold out hope again for his dream of a July 4 ‘Til Death Marathon!
Chris, Glee was always scheduled for a long hiatus as the episodes have a longer production time I’m not sure Fox could bring it back much earlier even if they had the space.
What gets me is that they have no idea where they’re putting Lie To Me or when it’ll even air. Clearly its a replacement show for when something (all eyes on Past Life and Human Target) bombs.
what the hell, to celebrate 20 years of the simpsons they cant even have a entire sunday dedicated to them (cleveland at 9:30) while seth douchebag macfarlene got an entire sunday a few weeks ago for doing nothing
last episode of glee = december 9th
first new episode after hiatus = april 13th
are you flipping kidding me!? I thought there were 9 new episodes to air after it comes back from hiatus.. that puts it at finishing on june 8th. which makes no sense?
Robert, true, the chances for that went up a notch
So I think schedule makes the cancellation of Brothers official (or was there a press release for that I missed)
Forg – oh, wow. Yeah, guess Brothers is toast. Poor ‘Til Death…I actually like that show.
no press release that I remember, though they left a little wiggle room by not saying anything about Sundays 7p-8p at all (I assume it will be repeats, but we’ll see)
What the hell?!?! What about Hells Kitchen?
A post Idol slot to Our Little Genius? Seriously? Why would they give the plum post Idol spot to a non scripted show with kids?
Plus Glee and Idol would fit perfectly and they are only going to do it for 6 or 7 weeks? why?
I think Hells Kitchen is going to run in the summer and into the fall like it did this year. I didn’t think it was going to air this spring/winter.
Glee doesn’t return until April? That doesn’t sound too good…
Tuesday are crap on Fox
I expected more “Fringe Cringe”. Matt, if it’s like last year it will come back in late April, though its possible they will hold it so it airs completely during summer like it used to. There definitely is another season (or more) on tap either way.
GLEE will face the final episodes of Lost, wow! Interesting ratings battle
Glee vs. Lost = SON OF A BITCH!
Okay, I get shows take a while to come back after the winter break, but April is a little too late!! Come on Glee!
I don’t think Glee is competing against Lost
Lost airs at 8pm
Glee will be at 9
All signs point to Our little Genius then Fox will realize that they need to move Glee back to its regular timeslot.
I do not understand this schedule as it is written, so I have taken the liberty of rewriting it with the correct version!

Wednesday 9pm is easier slot for Glee.
It’s up against Modern family/Cougar Town, Criminal Minds and SVU.
Minds and SVU are same audience, Glee has a smilar audience with comedies.
Tuesday 9pm. Lost, Biggest Loser, NCIS:LA.
A little more counter programming against LOST. I’m not sure what audience watches Biggest Loser. NCIS:LA is going to get pounded in new year.
I’m assuming Idol will have several two hour episodes on Tuesdays so scheduling “Genius” makes a bit of sense. Personally, I’d rather Fox just air Glee repeats in that slot instead.
AV, you are wrong. LOST will air on ABC at 9:00 and Glee will air on FOX at 9:00 after AI. They will definitely be competing with each other for the last several episodes of LOST.
any news on the other networks midseason schedule?
AV, Lost is at 9pm not 8pm. So , yes Lost is competing against Glee. But it doesn’t matter what ratings Lost gets. This season is not about ratings. Glee needs to do strong.
I don’t understand though if Glee is going into June now? I think there will be like 3-4 episodes beyond what is scheduled right? Maybe they are worried the Genius show won’t work and Glee will come back sooner?
Hum… Basically…
Past Life is toasted.
Glee: FOUR MONTHS?
Lie to Me? Where are you?
Wouldn’t it be much better to put 24 on another night (ie Thursdays at 9pm) since it has an audience and keep pairing House with Lie to Me?
A couple of Glee related notes.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see at least one ‘double episode’ of Glee with new episodes airing out of Idol on both Tuesday and Wednesday night, especially if there are indeed nine episodes to come when it returns from hiatus. If they can time it right a two part finale paired with the finale of American Idol could be a very big night for Fox indeed. Although I don’t remember if the final Idol performance show is a 2 hour one or not.
Generally speaking I think pairing Glee with the Idol performance shows makes a lot of sense, partly because those shows tend to run over which gives Glee more bleed in audience and partly because there’s more music in the performance shows and partly because if I remember rightly the performance shows tend to pull bigger numbers.
I don’t think the competition for Glee on other networks is going to be a huge deal. Its good counter programming and has the huge assist of an American Idol lead-in, it’ll do fine at the very least.
On another note entirely, what is Fox going to air Wednesday after Idol when Human Target ends its run? By my count Human Target should have finished its run by the end of March (if not a little sooner) so what exactly is Fox putting there if not Glee? More Genius or is that the provisional slot for Lie To Me in the event they haven’t pulled anything else? Or will Fringe end up moved back behind Idol? There’s a rather large hole in the schedule there…
So on the day that Lie To Me gets a full season pickup, the schedule comes out and it’s nowhere to be found. Interesting. Are they banking on one of the other shows to fail, or are they planning on airing LTM in the summer?
Bleh. I just started watching Glee…yesterday or the day before. 4 months? And they’re giving the slot to My Little Genius? Is Past Life that bad? And Gossip Girl is having an interminable break as well.
Well, Dollhouse is coming back soon (and then’ll be gone soon); supposedly it’s a marked improvement. Again. we’ll see.
The best part of this schedule is the cakewalk Modern Family is getting.
Well, seems like they decided Fringe would stay under the train until it dies for good… Can’t say I’m impressed…
surprise*
That’s pretty gutsy for “24″ to debut at 9 p.m.
Julia despite some less then stellar buzz Fox seems to be putting a lot into launching Human Target, I’m not sure how much of a cake walk its going to be for Modern Family. It’ll also depend on what replaces Human Target in March/April unless Fox has secretly ordered more episodes…?
I hope you’re being sarcastic, Ryan.
Also I don’t know why people are surprised about the length of Glee’s hiatus it was always supposed to be that long – it was originally slot sharing the post-Idol slot with Human Target and was never going to return until the end of March/beginning of April. Glee episodes just take longer to shoot because of all the song and dance numbers, I really don’t think Fox is keeping it off air for four months because they really, really want to since its hit pretty big for them without the aid of a weekly Idol lead-in.
Alex, even if Human Target does surprise, it doesn’t seem like it will share much of an audience with MF, unlike Glee which is already beating MF in female demos, and would demolish it with its Idol boost.
Simpsons 3-D on ice?
this season just got as interesting as a Princess Cruise: Escape Completely (some of us can get money for putting up ads too)
Have seen preview of Human Target. Human Target pilot is good. Too bad it is against Criminal Minds which would have a similar audience.
True Julia but if Human Target does hit (presumably mainly with men) it does set up an interesting dynamic of who wins out with the remote, men or women.
Considering the women will already be holding it during Idol….
Is Glee really that good? I keep imagining a show where every just sings the entire time. I have never seen an episode…but maybe I will when the DVD hits in December.
All I say is that with this dumb move by Fox they better lock in a season 2 of Glee BEFORE the back 9 even air.
When do shows get renewed for a season 2 anyways, on Fox?
AV – Usually in May during the upfronts. Sometime sooner (various reasons).
AV once again this isn’t a dumb move on Fox’s part – Glee can’t return any earlier because the episodes won’t be ready.
The simple fact is that Glee takes longer to shoot episodes, the pre-production is longer because they have to clear using the songs, choreograph and rehearse the dance numbers on top of sometimes re-arranging the songs and making sure the cast knows them and then records them. All of that is on top of the usual pre-production that goes into an hour long drama. Shooting takes longer as well because of the song and dance numbers.
Personally I’d suggest you get used to long waits, my guess is Glee isn’t back until mid season for its second year.
But Julia don’t forget the men have just watched Idol with the women folk, therefore they are owed!
Brad, Glee is really great. I highly recommend it. It’s so good that I’m considering watching it live over Lost when it returns even though Lost will be in its final season and Lost has been my favorite show on TV for years.
Gosh I just have a feeling Glee’s ratings will sink badly, I don’t even watch Lost but I know about it and how dominating it is.
It just gets me nervous. I just hope no matter how bad it is they renew Glee for season 2.
I do think once Human Target finishes it’s run that we may see back to back nights of Glee to fill in for those 3-4 extra episodes.
AV Lost isn’t the dominating show killer you think it is (its ratings have slipped every year) and its hard to see much overlap in the audience between Glee and Lost. If I remember rightly Criminal Minds held up brilliantly against Lost (and Idol) last year and it didn’t have the aid of a huge and perfectly match American Idol lead-in. Glee will be absolutely fine regardless of the hiatus.
(burst of static) (querulous computer beep)
(Sgt. Mike Zetelli, NYPD, 12th Precinct, street patrol) – You know, Greenwich Village is one of the greatest places in New York. Mind you, anywhere in NYPD is damned good – one week, I worked with Detective Beckett – nice detective, but needs to dress better…
…the next week, a hot homicide, and I got to eat dinner at the best place in New York with Purley Stebbins and Inspector Cramer – I never knew exactly how fat Nero Wolfe was…
…oops – we’ve got a brain molesting 459 in progress – man, my new XTerra patrol car is sweet!
That’s Lieutenant Belcker – never could stop wearing that cap – what’s going on, man?
(Lt. Belcker, Major Case Squad) We’ve got this scumbag dissing John Walsh…
(Joss Wheedon) – The more child molesters there are, the bigger Dollhouse’s audience becomes. I wish I could (beeeeeeep!) Adam Walsh!
(sound of 28 service pistols, 8 shotguns, two machine guns, a crossbow, a farrowing sow, all to Slim Whitman’s “Indian Love Call”)…
…
…
Zetelli – …well, it appears that CSI has determined that Slim Whitman killed the perp here, so we’re off the hook, and Inspector Harris is buying us all Chinese…
(sound of grown man, with a life-sized Eliza Dushku blow-up doll, both sobbing) “You murdered the greatest genius in television historee…”
“Zetelli! Call the Twinkie Mobile…”
“Hey, Inspector Harris! Good call!”
“Thank you, Mr. Castle…”
Zetelli – …confidentially, Castle had Inspector Harris proof his latest novel…and “Blood on the Badge” is getting another reprint order as well
Wait, i tough Til Death Would Return on January 4th or something like that, right after it airs on Christmas. Am I Wrong???
Delighted with the LIE TO ME full season pickup. Excellent show.
Were is CBS mid season?
…if “right after Christmas” means Independence Day marathon, then yes, RJ, you are not wrong
Independence Day marathon??? Then what will air on Christmas?????
R.J., there’s plenty of unaired episodes for both holidays.
The plan was to put two new “Til Death” episodes on Sundays at 7pm starting January 10. But FOX has NFL playoffs on the next two Sundays, and by then it’s February sweeps. Plus, FOX has The Daytona 500 the Sunday after the Super Bowl.
This still cant be good look at what Glee is competing with
NCIS, which right now gets over 21.4 million viewers an episode
The final season of Lost which has the answers people have been waiting for 5 years.
I just want Glee to survive and get a season 2.
…I rather suspect, since Christmas Day is a Friday any leftover episodes of MadTV, a second or third-tier bowl, or the “Best Scenes of Dollhouse That Joss Wanted To Show But Rupert Murdoch Banned”…
…or else a Christmas edition of COPS / America’s Most Wanted
…all of which would get better demos than Til Death…
…I wonder if they were trying to combine Green Acres with a show about a mortuary, and called it Till Death…
…but someone called Brad Garrett, and dropped an “l”…
When is FOX going to wise up?
Fringe can be successful given the right time slot and it seems appropriate to put it into the slot occupied by the X-Files (successfully) for so many years.
They would have a stronger 8 o’clock hour with The Simpsons and Family Guy leading into Fringe at 9 o’clock.
X-Files also suffered originally when it was in the Friday night slot but when it was moved to Sundays the ratings improved. It’s too bad FOX runs into local news at 10 because with Leno on NBC now they would have a real shot at picking up ratings in that hour.
Guess they’re not going to change FRINGE’s time
Little confused about Human Target, so the “Series Preview” is airing after the NFC Playoff game on the 17th at 8pm. Then they are re-airing the same episode again on the 20th in it’s normal timeslot?
I already knew that FOX was extending their primetime window in the 17th to air 24 from 9pm to 11pm that day.
I heard Human Target is only 12 episodes, so it’s probably going to run out of episodes by April.
I am pleased with the scheduling of Human Target on Wednesday. Finally there will be something on the night I can muster some interest in. On the other hand, if Fox thought Fringe was weak on Thursday, wait until they see what Past Life does. Now there is a show that’s DOA, if ever there was one. What a completely moronic concept.
Fox, please don’t burn through all the episodes of Til Death, just use the 4 for The Christmas Day marathon, after that in January it should be renewed for a 5th year, Fire the daughter and just let the Son-In-Law move in the house, then him and Brad Garrete can have a new series of adventures.
With 40 plus in the can plus at least another 13 that will make it where Fox can air another 7 episodes and pick it up again
“Til Death” is still scheduled to ruin Xmas with four episodes.
Ibwill be going through tough Glee withdrawls.
I’m guessing Lie to Me’s back 9 will timeshare with Human Target in that Wednesday post-Idol slot. I don’t see anywhere else they’d put it.
I’m surprised they moved Glee to Tuesday. And either it’s running into the summer or they reduced the season order, which would make about zero sense. Although they may be anticipating Our Little Genius getting yanked early, then they can bring back Glee earlier. But still, a post-Idol slot is a post-Idol slot and Glee’s already-strong ratings will probably grow even more with such a compatible lead-in.

Are you kidding?
No chance in hell they’re changing the Animation Domination lineup, and Fringe wouldn’t do any better with an incompatible lead-in and a timeslot that’s not that much easier (vs. Desperate Housewives, Celebrity Apprentice).
They’re not going to torpedo 3.0’s for the Cleveland Show and American Dad for 2.0’s with Fringe. And Family Guy won’t be leaving that 9:00 time for years to come.
Face it, Fringe is toast.
Glee will do well by default. Why? It’s airing after American Idol on the same network.
Mumbo, having The Simpsons lead-in to the X Files worked. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work with Fringe.
NCIS is on at 8 pm and NCIS: LA doesnot have as high a viewership as NCIS.
Fringe is done, I hope for the fans sake the writers end this season as a possible series finale. A new timeslot was it’s only hope. I honestly can’t blame FOX for not moving it to save it, it is probably one of their more expensive shows so it should be able to compete in a hard timeslot. And with it not being produced in house they don’t really have any motivation to save it at this point.
“Glee” resumes production in January for 9 episodes. It is hard to believe it would not be ready a couple of weeks earlier than April 13. I cant believe FOX is so stupid as to air the season finale of Glee in early June…it makes no sense……unless they are genuinely afraid of blowing the “Glee” season finale against the series finale of “Lost.” Both “Glee” and “Lost” have huge appeal to young, demographically desirable upscale audiences, so I believe the overlap is huge, but these are the same people that have DVRs and know how to use them. No one need worry that “Glee” will not see a Season 2….I can think of no other freshmen series other than “Modern Family” that is a firmer lock for renewal.
24 premiere ending at 11pm?
Has fox ever done this before? What about the news!?!?! (I dont care about the news, but Im sure the affiliates do).
Also….are they actually going to be airing reruns of sit down shut up next year? The shows finale is this weekend.
So can anyone tell me exactly which shows are up against Glee? Theres murmurs of Lost and NCIS?
^ ABC – Lost, NBC – 2nd hour of Biggest Loser, CBS- NCIS: Los Angeles.
Sons Of Tucson premieres March 14, so American Dad will be back on the schedule March 21 or 28 most likely.
Thanks forg, its tough competition but hopefully Glee will do fine. It should anyway.
Allow me to be the mandatory fan to explore what this schedule means to Chuck:
So Fox moved the Simpsons specials to run up against the Chuck premiere, stretching from 8:00-9:30, right through Chuck’s 9pm start. Bah, the Simpsons started its deep downward slide in quality over a decade ago, but it still may hurt that they’re running the Simpsons special right through the beginning of Chuck. Hope those audiences don’t overlap too much.
And the next week, they’re running the second half of the 24 super-premiere against Chuck. Bastards.
The rest of the season, it’s House just like last year. That worries me the least, oddly.
Does anyone think Glee could get hurt by this despite its glorious lead in?
Glee’s competition in the spring:
CBS- NCIS: LA
NBC- Biggest Loser (2nd hour)
ABC- Lost
CW- Probably 90210 reruns
What about NCIS, wouldn’t that be Glee’s competition as well?
No, Ren. CBS does not air two shows at one time.
Does anyone think the ratings for Glee will stay the same they have been or will they increase with the Idol lead in?
Haha I know that, but there are so many mentions of NCIS being Glee’s competition. I guess I got confused between NCIS and NCIS: LA. Thanks!
@AV I’m thinking they will increase, but I think we’ll just have to wait and see.
Ugh, lame. I looked up dates and I’ll have nothing to watch from about 1/16 to 3/7. Top Model’s next premiere is early March, Dollhouse is ending January, Glee is returning April, and Gossip Girl is returning early March after a flash in January.
What kind of February sweeps are these?
On the bright side, next week I get four hours of TV: Glee, Gossip Girl, and 2 hours of Dollhouse.
Glee’s up against some tough competition, but it’s got the best lead-in it could ever hope for. It’s done well with weak SYTYCD results as its lead-in so far, so with Idol – a very similar audience – I only see it growing. Maybe it’ll hit 4.0’s.
Even if Past Life bombs, that still won’t save Fringe. Crappy ratings are crappy ratings.
“What kind of February sweeps are these?”
I hereby christen them the February sweeps of Winter Olympics avoidance!
I thought sweeps had been moved to March because of the Olympics? *shrug* Guess I heard wrong. They were there last year because of that DTV transition bull.
But yeah the Winter Olympics should put up big numbers this year, since with it being in PST there will be a lot of live events in primetime.
Glee is going to be fine Tuesday, i just think it can do better Wednesday.
LOST got around 4.5 last year.
Biggest Loser gets 3.5-4.0.
NCIS:LA gets around 3.5.
Glee gets 3.3, but it’s guaranteed to get 3.9-4.1, like last year.
Once IDOL comes back it’ll dent NCIS:LA and it’ll be in 4th place.
Glee and Biggest Loser should both compete for 2nd.
LOST should win the hour.
Past life looks soooooo bad.
I’m not usually a person that wants a show to fail, especially one that I haven’t seen, but god I hope Past Life bombs, hopefully around the 1.4 range. That’ll show Fox that they can’t Move anything into Fringe’s timeslot and expect better.
Is Bones produced by FOX? Why don’t they switch Bones with Fringe? Bones has been rock solid at any timeslot, Fringe and FlashForward share the same audience so Fringe would eat away at ABCs demo
Its kinda messy!!!
they give old shows a break to premiere a new show then bring back the old show for new episodes after the new show’s finale.
And a long break for Glee!!! Seriously! I’m not a big fan of the show but cmon April 2009!???
Thats not right giving glee the spot after American Idol other shows need that spot more LIKE FRINGE and they r just leaving it to die on Thursday
Little Geniuses? *shudder* Its during the Olympics, right? Because I’d rather watch 24/7 of curling . . . .
Looks like Fox is all set to replace whichever of the new shows tanks the worst with Lie To Me . . . .
What on Earth is “Our Little Genius”? It sounds like a bad TLC show…lol.
I do watch Kitchen Nightmares but not on FOX but on BBC America.
I need a flow chart, flash cards and Cliffs Notes to make heads or tails of all this.
Very bright of FOX (and Ryan Murphy… “Eat Pray Love”… really?… that couldn’t wait?) to put that musical thing on a four-month hiatus. They keep on taking that one off for months at a time and bouncing it all over the place, they’re soon going to find its fickle teenage girl audience doing what fickle teenage girls do best — moving on to the next flash-in-the-pan fad.
Any news yet on the other networks midseason schedules being announced yet? I’m more intrested in ABC, especially because most of the shows I follow are on ABC.
Go Glee though!
craigward writes, “Sons Of Tucson premieres March 14, so American Dad will be back on the schedule March 21 or 28 most likely.”
LOL. “Tucson” is bad, but not quite that bad.
But bad enough that I’m sure you’ll someday be seeing it on UniversalHD’s “Rediscovered TV” right alongside reruns of “Greetings from Tucson.”
24 premiere ending at 11pm? Has fox ever done this before?
every Sunday, 1989-1993
every World Series game
FringeFan, I agree that Bones is pretty solid, but I doubt they’ll put it up against Grey’s. Bones & GA share a similar audience, and Bones would probably take a sizable hit during that battle. I’d be surprised if FOX would want to hurt an established performer like Bones, to potentially help out a struggling sophomore show.
@FringeFan
P.S. – The procedural fans that watch Bones might also watch CSI, and that would be another group of viewers that the show could lose. Bones is good, but not House or 24 good, that it can take on all-comers.
PAST LIFE – Reincarnation? Ill pass.
HUMAN TARGET? No reaction on that at all. One problem is he can never get killed. Sort of takes the suspense out of it. And if he had dead clients, odds are he would be out of business pretty fast. Again, takes the suspense out of it.
The worst of the lot: OUT LITTLE GENIUS – more annoying smart ass kids. No Thank you!
“24″ – will watch that, though its getting long in the tooth. Im still waiting for “24: Jacks Day Off” that goes like this:
“12AM – 8AM” (First 8 episodes we watch Jack sleep, dream, talk in his sleep, in episode 4 he gets up and goes to the bathroom mumbling _ I knew I shouldnt have drunk 6 beers before going to bed”.
“8AM – 9AM” – Shower, shave, breakfast of scambled eggs and bacon while watching the news on TV”
“10AM-Noon” – Jack goes to the mall to shop.
“12PM – 1PM” – Lunch at a local Chinese joint where he meets Chloe for lunch. They decide to see the movie “2012″
“1PM – 3PM” – Jack and Chloe watch “2012″ commenting how unreliastic the plot is and how Jack could easily have prevented the whole mess from occuring in the first place”.
“3PM – 5PM” – Jack goes home and watches 2 episodes of BONANZA while doing the NY Times Crossword Puzzle.
“5PM – 6PM” – Jack watches Glenn Beck on FOX News while eating an entire large delivered pizza.
“6PM – 7PM” – Jack pays his bills.
“7PM – 8PM” – Jack takes a nap.
“8PM – 10PM” – Orders up DIE HARD on Pay-per-view and comments how he cold have taken out all those Eurotrash terrorists in half the time.
“10PM – 11PM” – Cleans out his refrigerator and drinks a six pack of beer.
“11PM – Midnight” – Jack snores, then at 11:59 PM, the phone rings……. Jack says “Son of a b—-”!
i guess they changed their minds about moving American Dad to 7:30. Still, I hope they bring it back without too long of a hiatus.
Well, you can say this about FOX:
If they were thinking of canceling Fringe, they would have announced it had been moved to Fridays. Kitchen Nightmares is a reality TV show that can run whenever. But if FOX wants to pull the plug, even though they have a full season order, they would have moved the show to Friday.
THE FOLLOWING TAKES PLACE BETWEEN JAN AND MAY:
Smarrt move FOX…putting Human Target Between Championship and Priemere of 24…the countdown to 24 begins!!…Hmmmmmm?… and part 1 is late in the evening – looking forward to it…. (insert clock effect here)
What is heck is “THE SIMPSONS 20TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL: IN 3-D! ON ICE!” all about?
WINSTON SMITH…..LOL ……..Literally Hahahahahahaha – that’s the funniest thing i read on this site… love the 2012 & Die Hard comment the most …………..and I’m still laughing as I type this!!!
Finally is right, and FOX is using Our Little Genius to air post Idol Tuesdays, thats odd. Anyway, my prediction of Bones encores airing fridays in Jan was right and my prediction of Kitchen Nightmares seasonmairing fridays replacing Dollhouse was right too. And smart for FOX. Its good FOX ordered more Lie to Me, but something tells me the series will air fridays. When it returns spring. It looks like when Sons of Tucson airs, American Dad will be preempted rather than airing at 7:30. My thought is wheres Til Death? I cant believe FOX isnt airing it 7 and 7:30 and their likely to do what they did last season.
I was reading the LA Times article on the Fox schedule and they say that Hell’s Kitchen starts January 29th
@Devdog–I think you’ve hit the nail on the head about Lie to Me. I think Fox is expecting one of the new shows to fail, and fail pretty quickly, which means they can bring it back sooner than announced.
@Dan–Fox is trying to skew the American Idol audience back to a younger crowd by scheduling a family show like Our Little Genius after it. It’s a smart move if it works.
“What is heck is “THE SIMPSONS 20TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL: IN 3-D! ON ICE!” all about?”
Documentary by Morgan Spurling (the “Super Size Me” guy) about The Simpsons over the years.
Thanks J.R. Herbaugh. I dont really count sporting events when I think of TV schedules.
So basically, Fox has not aired regular content past 10pm since 1993? What prompted this change? Is this part of a grander test? Is fox looking to add an hour or two of content every week?
@Meli: the LA Times might have said Hell’s Kitchen (though I doubt it, I didn’t look to confirm) but it is Kitchen Nightmares, not Hell’s Kitchen which will be on Fridays effective 1/29. I don’t see Hell’s Kitchen as ever being a Friday show.
I really wish people would get over the length of Glee’s hiatus, Fox isn’t keeping the show off air because they really, really want it to have a four month hiatus. It was always scheduled to come back in April for a reason, its production schedule the turn around on new Glee episodes is relatively slow.
Lost Lost Lost
Really Fox? Really? They totally put Glee in the same timeslot as Lost in an attempt to destroy the final season ratings. I doubt it’ll work, but looks to me like Glee is getting dumped to DVR.
And Melrose Place is going to get pounded even harder than expected….against both Lost AND Glee AND American Idol (in the first few months).
Kitchen Nightmares was a good choice to air fridays to replace Dollhouse. Its cheap and good do OK fridays. Hell’s Kitchen may end up airing post Idol once Human Target finishes. My only concern is where the remaining Lie to Me episodes will air and where Glee’s remaining 3 episodes will air.
Dan my current guess is that Fox will air all of Glee’s back nine out of Idol, which will mean a couple of ‘double episodes’ Tuesday and Wednesday – I’d say a double episode the week it comes back and a double episode for the finale. Having said that I’m more interested to see if Fox moves Glee out of the way of the Lost series finale or not.
With that in mind whatever lands in the Human Target slot from April will likely find itself pre-empted at least once if not more often. I’m thinking that Lie To Me will get the slot and run through to June at least maybe with Hell’s Kitchen replacing Idol to act as lead-in for it.
I’m gonna miss “Dollhouse”. FOX really did set it up for failure since the beginning. Atleast they were kind enough to give us a second season. . . . even if they didn’t promote it.
When the heck is ABC going to reveal its mid-season schedule?
Winston Smith, Superman was nearly bulletproof and that worked as a storyline for a successful comic book.
J, I’m guessing it’s just a special presentation. I would bet that FOX has done it a few times since 1993. (What prompted this one would be the need for a good spot for the premiere of “Human Target.”) Sometimes movies (and award shows) run longer than two hours.

@Mumbo–Fox has never aired a 10 PM show. At 10 the programming goes back to the local affiliates.
While we’re fretting about shows having long layoffs and the like, let’s remember that Fox begins its fall season earlier than the other networks. The newer, untested shows tend to go on in early September while the big favorites (like House or Fringe) get a late September start. Actually Fox has kinda written the book on a ‘year-round season’, considering they never premiere 24 or American Idol before January.
They did on Sundays for a few years.

As for the star of Human Target being unable to die, that pretty much holds for ANY action show – except Spooks, which appears to regularly kill off its characters (and Sanctuary killed off Ashley Magnus, which I really didn’t like although she went out with a bang).
By definition, the suspense of Human Target comes from HOW does he keep from getting killed every week.
Alex – I think Glee will air against Lost’s finale. Glee has AI to help it out so it wont be much effect. Plus GLee is a lock for a second year anyway.
Hells kitchen wont air until summer i think they didint have a lot of viewers of Hells kitchen 5
I Think that they should air American Idol in The Summer
Tye – Nooo, FOX needs Idol for Winter. Idol aired in the summer for its first season well though.
Big Fan – FOX has 2 Hell’s Kitchen seasons so it may air as early as April.
