Jon & Kate Plus 8 series finale averages 4.32 million viewers

While still less than half of the nearly 10 million viewers the series saw last May, last night Jon & Kate Plus 8’s series finale on TLC averaged 4.318 million viewers.  The finale averaged a 2.0 rating with adults 18-49.

While billed as a series finale and likely a finale for a show named “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” is this is the end of the Gosselins on TV?  I don’t see much chance of that.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see a Gosselin return to TLC before V and Glee return to their networks in the spring after long winter breaks.

  3. mark-allen says:

well, if you love tv and all aspects of tv…it isn’t crap programming.

i find it all interesting in it’s own way.

  4. RJ says:

Jon and Kate Plus 8 was a much better show before all the divorce stuff. Those were the days…..

  5. j says:

So that’s bigger than Sons of Anarchy, right?

  6. vsaint says:

Jon Gosselin is going to be in a show with Michael Lohan, it’s suppose to about divorced dads.
Agreed, they’ll be back on air pretty soon.

  7. mike says:

Please, Please will this bunch just go away and be dysfunctional in private like all the rest of us!

  8. Michael J says:

You gotta feel for those kids! They’ll be in therapy for most of their lives. :(

  9. Winston Smith (TruthMin) says:

“Jon and Kate plus Hate” is over. Thank God, now dont let these 2 weirdos anywhere near a camera ever again. Let them fade into obscurity the way OctoMom has.

If they are still pondering “Kate plus 8″ – STOP IT!!!! DONT DO IT!

  10. Travis says:

A Kate centric show is almost a lock mostly because Jon’s become the villain of this little drama after being the sympathetic one. Sadly, most people love seeing others fall from grace, and all of the Reverse Mullet Heads will follow their Leader where ever she goes. This train wreck is not over by a long shot. It’s a shame too because this show used to be fun to watch, now it’s just sad and pathetic.

  11. Sammie1eye says:

Good riddance. Two narcissistic, self-centered airheads peddling their children for cash was borderline creepy and just plain sick. And audiences watching this tripe were no better than the parents. This was voyeurism in the extreme. And these talentless nitwits were paid a lot of money for this junk. Here’s hoping none of them resurface.

  12. mary33 says:

Thank gawd this crap is over for now! They make me sick!

I heard about the series finale, Many said Kate did all she could to down Jon as always. At least that is what me and others have read on the internet. You know, It was Kate Gosselin all along that wanted to be gone from the children and Jon. Seems like one day she will grow up to know that she put her family through hell and the children will know the same one day. When that day does come, Kate’s hell now will be even worse then. But, she don’t care-she is just after money and the best way she can use the children to make it for her so she can live the high life and all while she is not home to be mom! Sorry person is what she is! Good bye wicked witch! Hey Gosselin children, google Kate Gosselin and Jon and Kate plus 8 so much hate. You will see the stories your mommie told you are lies, she did not take the high road. She used every opportunity she could get to trash your daddy and said he was wrong for everything. Um, not true-keep googling. Google Steve -Kate Gosselins body guard, google Kate is demeaning to Jon. Google Kate Gosselin made the dogs go away! Google Kate Gosselin told Jon to stop breathing. Yeah, much more to come. Kate, still want to make the children work for you, do you still want to be on tv-keep it up more to come! Stay tuned for the Gosselin children go to seek help from life of working for mommie!

Get off your high horses people. I am so sick of people who only know about this show from what they see on supermarket tabloids acting so judgemental and high and mighty.

Firstly, those of us who have seen the show from the start know what it was before: a fascinating look at a very ordinary all-American couple’s struggle to hold together a family of 8 kids.

Secondly, there are lots of kids on TV. What about the kids on Supernanny? Intervention? Hoarders? Wife Swap? 18 Kids and Counting? etc etc. What about child actors on sitcoms who maybe don’t really want to be there but are pushed into it by pushy stage moms? Either you want to ban all kids from TV, or you don’t.

Thirdly, what shows are you watching? PBS documentaries? Who are you to judge whether or not someone “has no life” for watching this show or another? Maybe I think you have no life for watching the crappy shows you watch.

The show is over, people. No need to be so high and mighty anymore. Get off your high horses.

    I wish the family well.

  15. Shelley says:

Thank God it’s over. Unfortunately I think Robert is right. There will be a new Gosselin production before V and Glee return. I’ll never understand why people watch this garbage!

  16. Ian says:

    Alan:

First off, you cannot seriously compare the kids on J&K+8 to those on Wife Swap, Supernanny, hoarders, etc. Because they’re on TV once!, not for the first 5 years of their lives.

If you remember the beginning when it was about 2 average people trying to raise their kids then I’m surprised that you aren’t more crestfallen over how the parents have degenerated over the life of the series.

Are you seriously trying to imply that Kate is the same Kate? Its not even close. She’s turned into a diva whose kids are the device by which she enjoys fame. Not to mention Jon, who I do feel more sympathy for, as I really do believe that he did not want his whole identity to become ‘the dad from J&K+8′

So as for people and their high horses, please dismount yourself and then address the peanut gallery

    Cheers.

  17. ragz says:

Who cares about them!!! Just go away…

  18. Alan says:

Yes, I agree that the show got too big. The mansion, the celebrity appearances, the huge estate, the lavish trips.

Actually, I like Kate better now than before. Before, she seemed like a one-sided nagging shrew but now she’s showing other sides to herself and she’s admitting her weaknesses. Jon, I like far less now. Before I thought he was just a sweet guy who was a little bit henpecked. Now, he says he doesn’t want a show, but he parties with celebrities in Manhattan and is suing TLC for damaging his show biz opportunities? Er…I thought he didnt’ want show biz?

    Here’s what I have a problem with:

    1. I have a problem with people who say “Get a life!” to people to watch a show they don’t like. There are plenty of shows on TV that I abhore and despite, but I won’t tell you to “get a life!” for watching a show I don’t like.

    2. I don’t understand why every Jon&Kate article is filled with comments like “why don’t they just go away!” or when it’s already been made very clear that the show is ending. They didn’t ask to be on People magazine every week and on Entertainment Tonight every night. The tabloids only cared about them when their marriage went sour. Their overexposure is not their fault.

-Finally, I really really have a problem with the LEVEL of viciousness being directed towards Kate in particular. How can you despise someone that much when you’ve never met them? When all you know of their life is what’s on US Weekly or what’s on highly edited 30 minute TV shows? I just don’t agree with the level and language of extreme anger and hatred.

  19. Alan says:

PS: Why don’t people have a problem with the Duggar Family on 18 Kids and counting?

Because Mommy Duggar is (unlike Kate) quiet and submissive?

I have a bigger problem with a show about members of a extremist ultrareligious Christian sect (the Quiverfulls) who believe that a woman’s only purpose in life to be continually pregnant from puberty to menopause.

No comments about the fate of the poor girls of that family? Oh, that’s because the Duggars aren’t on People Magazine this week so nobody hates them.

  20. GLH710 says:

I’ve never seen the show but my wife is addicted to TLC (The Ladies Channel) so I always have to hear from her about this dysfunctional couple. Maybe now I won’t have to hear anymore about these two…and if the posters always complain about the show, why the hell are you watching it?!

  21. robert says:

Anyone who exploits young kids for their own personal gain are, in my book, complete losers. Anyone who thinks they did the show “for the kids”, are just as bad as the parents. Get a life, you don’t need a crappy tv show to raise or learn how to raise children. If you do, please don’t have any. My point is this type of bs programming does nothing but churn out losers like jon, and people that watch it need to find more to do with their lives. these shows are not entertainment, it’s called exploitation.

  22. robert says:

oh, and I never watched, nor would I..Anyone who watches the news, or has internet has heard of the train-wreck. And maybe you need to turn your wifes tv off, or not listen to her. Just a thought

  23. Alan says:

Wow. You’re incredibly judgemental of a show you’ve never seen and incredibly hateful towards people you’ve never met.

Admitting that you’ve never watched this show that you bash is not a great way to solidify your point of view.

  24. aok says:

    Alan writes:
Thirdly, what shows are you watching? PBS documentaries?

Yes, as a matter of fact I do. If people spent a little more time watching The Newshour and other gems on PBS we’d all be better for it. Who are YOU to judge?

  25. bruce says:

Bill O’Reilly on Fox News draws just as big an audience. Stick a fork in ‘em, they’re done.

  26. Monique says:

I think that it was a beautiful show, people loved it because they watched it from the beginning. They watched these kids grow up. And to tell you the truth, the show ending, was like the kids dying, for the simple reason of, we cant see their beautiful faces on their show anymore. Now, i dont understand how you can watch kids grow up for 5 or however many years, grow up, and then let them go with no sadness at all. That is why regular people make such a big deal, and for those of u who dont understand, its like watching your own kids grow up.

  27. R.G says:

I want to adopt those kids, so I can punish those douchebags who are their parents.

  28. Paul 80 says:

People who watch reality shows are people who think their to good to watch wrestling.

  29. Marsha says:

So many of the comments I have read are negative but you all might be singing a different tune if you were the ones trying to raise eight kids. The show has enabled them to get the help they need to do things other people take for granted. As a grandmother of 21 month old twins I realize how difficult it is to go places alone with two small children. Tasks that everyone can accomplish without batting any eye; going to the grocery store, going to the doctor, getting a haircut, etc. take a great deal of energy when you have multiples. I have empathy for Kate and am disgusted with Jon. He put himself before his family – he is a selfish, childish person. I hope to see Kate and her children back on TV.

  30. sally says:

i am actually very sad that this show is over
i thing that it shouldn’t have been cancelled because of the egoistical father who had an ephinany right after he got fired from TLC that his kids shouldn’t be filmed
