Big 12 Nebraska Texas Footbal

Note: coverage of live events like last night’s sports (College Football (ABC),  makes their numbers approximate and subject to greater than normal adjustment. See definitions below for more information on these Fast Affiliate ratings.

FOX was a distant second to the football action with its longstanding lineup of Cops and America’s Most Wanted.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

CK, because I just displayed the averaged for The Incredibles over the whole airing, you can’t really make good comparisons to those averages. Still, The Office improved of The Incredible’s last half hour (which was a 1.2 and 3.369 million viewers).

it is kind of perplexing as to why Parks and Rec does so poorly.. personally, i think it is the best comedy on TV, but i guess that opinion isn’t shared with too many other people :(

P&R’s comedic style may not be to everyone’s taste as can be shown by the ratings. However, It has become a darling of the critics and fans (including this one).

P-Ow, I’d rate the likelihood of an ESPN press release with that game’s ratings tomorrow at high. Also, we sometimes get Saturday final cable numbers on Monday. Even if we don’t get them, we will definitely see the numbers on Tuesday. Barring yet another Nielsen delay, that is.

Science101 is right: 0.3 is very low, even considering it’s a Saturday repeat on NBC.

Jon, no viewer numbers or age demos yet, but from the USA Today:

Alabama’s blowout of Florida in the SEC title game Saturday drew an 11.8 overnight rating — translating to 11.8% of TV households in 56 urban TV markets — up 13% from the same teams playing in last year’s game. That’s the highest-ever SEC title game overnight ever, and the highest overnight for a non-bowl college game since Ohio State-Michigan in 2006.

What an odd scheduling for the NBC, why didn’t they air Parks and The Office back to back?

I wonder what the mood must be like behind the scenes at Parks & Rec right now? I’ll bet there’s some finger pointing going on. They have got to be stunned over how dismal their ratings are.

I mean NBC hyped this show like no other. It was supposed to save NBC’s entire Thursday night lineup. Remember all the hype during last year’s Super Bowl?

I still think Daniels made a gross mistake not doing a direct spin off of “The Office”. I think the cast of Parks would have been perfect for a branch of Dundler Mifflin. Fans of “The Office” were psyched for a spinoff show; Parks & Rec is not what they wanted.

This just goes to show you the mistake NBC made by letting Medium go to CBS. Hell, a rerun on a saturday night wasn’t that far off from what new episodes of just about all of their dramas is able to pull for new episodes on weeknights.

Its just one of those shows that people can pick up on any episode and not be lost by not knowing what happened the previous week.
