TLC confirms that this Thursday’s episode of American Chopper will be its last before riding off into the TV sunset. The series premiered on Discovery in 2003 before ultimately moving to TLC.
In a statement TLC said, “The Teutuls will always be a part of the Discovery family and we congratulate them on a tremendously successful series run.”

Good riddance.
It jumped the shark when Jr and Sr stopped talking.
kill one reality show, and five more spring up in its place!
I stopped watching the show after it moved to TLC. I had some good memories of it though, it’s a shame
Well… it’s been great guys, I’ve enjoyed the laughs, entertainment and watching your ideas come to life, Your show helped me get through my overseas tour of duty I now own a sport “cruzer”, but I surly enjoy viewing your bikes, I had the pleasure of seeing the B-2 bike in person, your work is outstanding. I surly hope you guys work things out because money and fame comes and goes. However, family is always…thanks
I remember when “wild west” shows roamed the Earth, then it was “Space” shows. Then, and for the longest time “Cop” shows. That’s still dying off, now, slowly. Nowdays you can’t stay an entire season without a dead body and a search through phantom suspects to learn the person who did it.
But are never going to see the end of the ‘unscripted’ but well-rehearsed “reality” shows? I’m just so sick of them I could PUKE.
Honestly; even a show about modern military aviation (a key enjoyment in my life) would be something to which I’d never tune in a second time. Family/Work drama, I got. Give me the escape to a well-considered tale of another world that doesn’t have ugly people yelling at each other and/or eating bugs.
While I recognize the value of this show; there are a LOT more bikers than fighter pilots, and a lot of guys like the 1910-style motorcycles than makes sense, this served a lot of people’s interest. But I’m so tired of the worn-out theme!
Rap music is the same way. Four years of disco was far too much, but coming up on 20 years of rap just isn’t quite enough!
This sucks
I think (hope) South Park is to blame (thank) for this. Remember the episode “The F Word”? Yea! I hope it kills the whole biker sub-culture!
It’s about time. I stopped watching a long time ago. got sick of the fighting and the bikes all looked the same after a while.
The old man always wanted all the fame and was jealous of his own son–what a shame-he has basically lost his three sons because he wants everything to be about him—–Good luck Paulie
@John
Please, get over yourself.
I knew it was coming but hate to see it go. I attened the grand opening and the tenth ansv. at the world HQ and it was great. If you ever get to see the bikes up close and personal, TV does not do them justice. The guys were friendly and very accomidating. It is my hope that SR. JR. Mikey and all the Teutuls recencile their differences. Family is more important than anything else. Good luck to all the Teutuls and God Bless them all.
Good riddance, that was a ghastly show, hours of watching fat rednecks making disgusting, useless bikes… Although it was slightly better than watching tattooed idiots trying to fit 30 inch wheels on a Hummer. Bottom line, Americans should not make motoring shows…
Pix, have some tea and crumpets and shut the hell up!
Well, considering the first few seasons, they did not make the bikes, just bought the parts, put them together, welded a few cosmetic pieces on then outsourced the painting, no big loss, their name has been mud on the bike rally circuit for a number of years anyway, only the rich and the wannabe’s paid them much attention
A tool company wants us to make a bike. Fight. Ok I’ll weld a wrench to the front of it. A bulldozer company wants us to make a bike. Fight. Ok I’ll weld a plow to the front of it. Coca-cola wants us to make a bike. Fight. Ok I’ll weld a coke can to the front of it. Wash rinse repeat.
Bring on the drug relapse
It’s about time. This show was worn out and tired years ago.
I’ll admit that the first 2 seasons were slightly entertaining. The bikes were a joke, they outsourced anything that required genuine skill to created, and they simply assembled the parts in the shop. But their fights were at least funny and seemingly genuine. After all, they were still a small struggling shop that was fighting to stay afloat month after month, and they were under a lot of stress. In a dysfunctional family business, you’re gonna get some fireworks. And it was funny.
As OCC got more notoriety and the Teutels were clearly becoming bloated and wealthy, the show lost the edge. That abrasive interaction between Sr. and Jr. became soft and lazy, and the few arguments that they had really felt rehearsed. The bikes were all flash and no skill. It got boring. The show should have been retired right before it was moved to TLC.
Now, they’re fantastically wealthy and have nothing to worry about. No more grit, no edge, no nothing. The only thing that’d make the show fun to watch again is if they released unedited DVDs.
Yaaaaaay a group of idiots now gone from my TV.
They had a great run and made lots of bikes and money. Hopefully the family will mend and live their lives together.
Good Guys.
The bickering seemed staged at times, but as we saw at the end, the family was way too disfunctional to continue. Having Junior, Mikey and Senior split up killed the show.
They went from building bikes in their basement to about 3 different shops to the point that the place became a tourist destination.
I lost interest in it a while ago, and the bikes started to look alike after a while.
Ok..well I’ll still lust after SR!! WOOF
The one thing I could never understand was – who in their right mind decides a ghastly custom chopper is a good way to promote… anything? It’s just… bewildering to me.
Budo: Several of the choppers built for companies went out on tours of places that sold their equipment. The Caterpillar chopper for one. Then, often they are sold for charity, so the company gets:
1 – An entire hour (or two sometimes) of “American Chopper” coverage, which is much better than buying commercial time.
2 – The goodwill provided by the chopper tour.
3 – The donation to charity.
It’s all about marketing. Do we really have to explain that to you?
The rest of them are custom-built by wealthy celebrities who have more money than they can spend and see the exposure and the cool bike as a nice investment.
Wait a minute! You mean this was still on? I thought it went off five years ago!
@Mickey73: I would be offended if I was British…
I’ll miss the show. I wish they would have focused more on the bike builds than the family drama. The humor was good. Best of luck to Jr and Mikey. Thanks.
I thought the tell tell segment this season was when SR went into a hysterical crying spell over his dog Gus’ medical condition. You would have thought one of his kids was dying…..oh, snap, wait a minute…. he cares more about his dog than his kids, and he exposed a huge flaw in his perspective on life.
Too Bad! Sr. forgot that it was Paul Jr. who had quite the vision for building cool bikes and Jr. forgot that it was Sr. who started the company to begin with. They needed each other to make the show work. Maybe now they can try to mend their family.
A quick note to the employees of o.c.c. You made fun of Mikey and Pauly after they left-behind their backs. They were the butt of your jokes and taking the faces off of the trailer really pissed me off. You did not build the show up to where it is now. Pauly, Sr. and Mikey made the show. You should have shown more respect as I think I am not the only one who was offended by you all.
Sorry to see the old show go, not the newer episodes.
Mike
I once was such a fan of this show I even used to buy all the dvds. But I pretty much stopped watching after Vinnie left in 2007. To me, Vinnie was the hard-working every man that everyone could really identify with – a sense of normalcy in the middle of a three ring circus. After he was gone, all you had left on the show was a bunch of goofy characters with their bizarre idiosyncrasies and rather large egos. I couldn’t relate to the show after that. Vinnie sure left the show to open his own shop at the right time because the ratings have been sinking fast ever since. In fact, I was kind of shocked it wasn’t canceled at the end of last season considering how bad it was doing even by cable standards. Its time was definitely up.
Everybody I know that used to watch this stopped after the first year or two (or just stopped talking about it). I had no idea they were still making new episodes.
I thought they were just milking the same old episodes for years on end like Cartoon Network does with their shows.
GONNA REALLY MISS MIKEY HE IS JUST TO CUTE AND FUNNY, AND PAUL JR YOUR VERY TALENTED KEEP IT UP, AS FOR PAUL SR IT’S SAD TO SEE YOU TREAT YOUR DOG BETTER THAN YOUR CHILDREN YOU SUCK……..
I had forgot the show was on till I stumbled across what turned out to be the second to last episode. it was painful – especially when Paul Sr dragged his new kids into the shop. That was about as pathetic as Scrubs: The Next Generation.
Paul Sr is bipolar
The show my chums at TLC ought to do is “The Teutels Plus Eight”… THAT would get eyeballs!
Sadly this is a lesson to us all. First every viewer that watched put their time to watching rudeness, foul mouths, arrogance and many other bad traits. It was fun to see men put a bike together with a vision.Paulie was a nice designer great ideas great scope of things however his dad is right in one way in the real world you would not be given chances on coming in late or taking time off. Meeting deadlines is a part of the real world schedules are too so are work ethics. Mikey was good for the promotion of the show and bikes.Coors girls and bud girls are used for their companies but face it these girls are eye candy not the work behind the product. Mikey was chopper /buffoon eye candy. Again this young man has bad working skills like paulie.Wonder who they learn the I don’t give a damm attitude. When vinnie was on show he was a workaholic good work ethics but not a son to yell at and he is gone…hmm wonder why all the right things in this man I pointed out as faults for mikey and paulie. What really happened was sponsors kept show alive with the people it got bills paid. Paul saw more money coming in to the warehouse/office/business building then ever before. Discovery and TLC put them on map..So you have one team working on TV show bikes another maybe smaller team on your real business.Sadly after fame paul got crazy with power with fame he did not change he got magnified. We saw it and did not like the directions everyone went it the company got too big it got out of his hand and he forgot how he got there. If he was a better father the work ethic issue would be addressed. In the end how man different bikes can you really make and not see some of the same stuff all over. The success of the show showed in their personal lives with the goodies these men have. TOO much too soon we give them the power like all reality show people we take them from no one and we evevate them and throw them away.I wonder if we will remember them 30 years from now! Lastly don’t forget the best of the show the cool bikes all the great charities that were given too, all the kids smiles and to think some thought these folks were heroes. I hope paul gets a kick in butt and makes up to his kids all of them!!!Not just paulie and mikey…AND DUDE never put a animal before family…to =be a better father you should have reached out to mikey in rehab more then worry about a dog or bike deadline. That is your family where would you be without them!!!!!
Paul Sr. is a money and fame hungry, jealous butthole! Jesse James is the real custom chopper builder.
Paulie and Mikey good luck to you both
My wife and I enjoyed watching “American Chopper”" and seeing the creation of their awesome bikes and while we are sad to see the show end we knew it was coming when Paul Jr.started messing with that dumb broad and the stupid dress boutique! I told my wife the show was doomed when she showed up! Just Like the “Beatles” it took a woman to do them in. Then you throw in a good mix of greed (including Paul Sr)and it was over! At least they had a good run. The final stake in the heart that killed it all was without a doubt outside influences.
But don’t be surprised if the show returns as a totally revamped series. It most likely had to end to keep Paul Jr. and Mikey and all the other gold diggers from taking a piece of the pie! Now Paul Sr. will most likely bring the show back as “American MADE Choppers” and start all anew. I just hope he is smart enough this time to keep his new gold digging wife and step kids out and off of the show or viewers will be just as gone as the old show!
Say what you want Paul Sr but you know I’m right!
what a bunch of grease monkey schmucks,…c ya!!
Red- A lot of people missed Vinnie- even Letterman said it recently when he had Paul Sr. on. Vinnie will be on a new show called Throttle Junkies. Check the facebook page out under Throttle Junkies TV. Maybe some AC sponsors will jump over. The show will feature three bike builders, a good cross section of styles. It will not be the same type of show as AC.
The first 2 seasons were good but like anything else money went to their heads.Paul Sr. should be ashamed af himself.Family is more important than anything else in life, when the money started rolling in they all had to have their big houses and toys and each one wants more than the other. The show was so much better when they had their little shop and some morales.I have seen some of their work and it is mostly junk compared to some other shops and they dont sit around and whine all day.I dont blame the sons for getting away from that ass of a father they have.Glad to see it cancelled since Sr. was thinking about bringing his wife on board. What a joke that would be.Hopefully they will all grow up and realize what the important things in life really are.Just another reality show gone because of greed.
This past couple of seasons haven’t been pretty …… It went about 2 years longer than it should have.
Paul Sr. is the former drunk, drug using dad who thinks he served in the military and can build custom bikes. Paul Jr. is the “my ideas are better” son and he argues with Sr. that his ideas are better. And son Mike is the fool that does almost nothing and gets paid. They say they build custom bikes, all they do is put part they ordered from other custom parts makers, weld on a few hand made parts and its a “custom made bike.” What a joke. I’m glad these idiots are gone. All the builds were the same. A company hires them to “build” a bike. They talk about how exciting the build is going to be. The guys go over to the company head quarters for a tour and talk about ideas on the theme of the bike. Return to shop to start the build. Prebuild the bike and talk about what looks right and what doesn’t and make some changes. Take apart and send out for plating and painting. When the parts are returned, they talk about how nice the newly painted, plated parts look. Assemble the bike and start it. Then they talk about how awsome it looks and runs. It is taken for a ride. Now they talk about how good it looks while riding, and can’t wait to unvail the bike. Next, they unvail the bike and the company talks about how nice the bike looks, sounds and how the theme of the bike fits in with company. Then the guys talk about how exciting it was to build the bike, and how unique the bike is. All along the build having the arguments, problems and other things that don’t have any part to do with the build.
If it wasn’t for Discovery then changing over to TLC, this sad excuse of bike building shop called OCC would of not been as successful, it might of even closed. Now that the show is canceled, I think these idiots are going to strugle to find companies to build bikes for and it will eventualy fail.
MAN IM GONNA MISS THIS SHOW. I wish you guys all the best and I hope you can get the show back on ASAP!
I agree with Joe. I will miss the show as well. Hurry back!!!!!
Paul Sr. goodbye. Seen Paul Jr’s future father in law. He looks about 40 years old. This gold digger he is going to marry must be 19 years old. He is about 35 yrs old.
I quit watching after the first few builds. They wanted publicity and fame. They build one bike for three companies three different ways. Just look at the WW2, stelth and B52 bomber bikes. The same idea with a different body and paint. How about the Snap On, Craftsman and Kobalt tools bikes. Except this time the company gave them free tools. I’m going to open my own shop. Then I’ll try to get it on tv. Build a one off ride for a company like Matco, so I can get a whole lot of free tools. Then get GM and build a custom Escalade, and they will give me a free Cadillac. Later build a ride for MAC Tools and get even more free tools. Then Toyota will want a of a kind full custom Lexus that they want me to build. They will probably give me a free Toyota or Lexus. These companies will later auction off the rides.
The Discovery network does not belong in the automotive department. The shows that have to do with cars or bikes don’t last. Remeber Motor Cycle Mania and Monster Garage. Both with a real bike builder named Jessie James. Also don’t forget about Overhaulin’ and American Hot Rod. All these shows were on Discovery or TLC. They had there short run then pulled. I think the current reincarnation of Monster Garage called Howe and Howe tech will not last because it’s already been done. Street Customs won’t last because West Coast Customs had there run on MTV.
iTS A SHAME TO END THE PROGRAMME BUT IT WAS NOT AS GOOD AS IT HAS BEEN SINCE THE FAMILLY SPLIT. GOOD LUCK TO MIKEY AND PAUL JR
AND AS FOR THE COMMENTS THEY DONT MAKE A PROGRAMME AS GOOD AS THE BRITISH WHAT BULL I AM BRITTISH AND TOP GEAR IS NOTHING MORE THAN TWO BIG HEADS MAKING FUN OF ONE NORMAL ENGLISH GUY AND NOT A LOT ABOUT CARS. JUST FULL OF EGO, WHICH IS WHATS GONE WRONG WITH PAUL SR
The show went downhill with PAUL SR started bringing all the outside help people like JASON the man that cannot keep his lips off Paul Sr ass. I guess that is what he needs him happy. Paul Sr also thinks his bikes look better than Paul JR but he is wrong . THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE SHOW OFF !!! PAUL SR IS THE BIGGEST AHOLE I HAVE EVER SEEN TREATING HIS FAMILY LIKE SHI- AND SLAMMING THEM EVERY CHANCE HE GETS WITH HIS BUTT BUDDIES FROM OCC.
It would seem there are to many opinions to answer or address them all. Business is business and contracts are based on time is of the essence. One cannot show up when they feel like it and doing what it takes to save a company these days is no easy task. I like to see people succeed and also appreciated the time OCC spent with charities very much. That meant allot to allot of people. Discovery told the family to play it up from the start, but you still have to do what it takes to fulfill contracts at the same time. A family business is tough enough without everything out there for the public to see and pick apart. I hope the end was play up just as in the beginning. I have seen some of there bikes in person and honestly were not that impressed. I have built a few bikes in my day too and am a motorcycle fan. 40+mpg with a hot rod bike. But! I do like to see people succeed and wish all well and we may see season 8. I did miss the last 3 or 4 seasons so I was a little surprised at the ending or lack of one. None of us really know what or if there is any truth 100% to the family feud thing because they were directed to play it up for ratings. However, In this economy I wish everyone well. I admire Sr for saving his company from bankruptcy too. Live to ride hard!!
I’m glad its finally done. It is painful, yet very embarrassing for Paul Jr. to “redesign” a grill, then the dog park. And the boutique. Just sad, sad, sad. OCC will probably go bankrupt with that HUGE new building. And what company will go to OOC to build them a bike now? Man, that nice home gone. Without the TV money, even with it, the company almost went bankrupt already. Oh well. Later all.
I was watching a repeat of the Barrett Jackson 2009 Auction which was held in Palm Springs.
A “brand new” OCC chopper (2005 title) with 85 miles (which were all OCC test milage) was auctioned. They stated it was a special build for a major retailer.
It sold for 23K. I would imagine the company paid in excess of 60K to have it built.
Brand new OCC Chopper selling for 23K? Yikes. That’s worse than resell value for a Yugo.
All you haters just dont know what it really takes to make a hit show like they did.Lets all remember that it was paul sr who started this whole thing and he is the boss. His son thought he was the king of the caste, coming in late all the time, leaving early all the time he did not follow rules and if you own a business no matter who you are these rules must be followed for others to set a example
