Season To Date Ratings

As good as Fox’s luck was with the baseball ALCS games, their luck with the World Series might turn out much better. If the Phillies can win Wednesday, and force a game 7, Fox might hold onto the adults 18-49 and 18-34 leads for the rest of the season (it’s a given they’ll take them when American Idol appears, regardless). A huge week of baseball and football (through November 1, 2009) stretched Fox’s lead in adults 18-49 and 18-34, and closed a bit of the gap with CBS in adults 25-54. CBS is well ahead  average viewership and I don’t think even a seven game World Series can close that gap in a week.

Season To Date Ratings

Good luck with the baseball ALCS games and a fall season programmed with more than throw away shows has Fox on top of the important season to date adults 18-49 ratings (through October 25, 2009). The competition is used to getting left in Fox’s ratings dust in the spring when American Idol appears, but with a seemingly good World Series matchup, could Fox hold the lead from here on out? That sound you hear is CBS’ Les Moonves sulking.

Fox also has a commanding lead in adults 18-34, while CBS is well ahead in adults 25-54 and average viewership.

After 4 weeks of the broadcast primetime season (through October 18, 2009) CBS still holds the season to date lead in the important primetime adults 18-49 ratings as well as adults 25-54 and average viewership. CBS has had the good fortune to get 3 NFL football overruns out of 4 Sundays this season. That has helped their average tremendously (although don’t look for their PR to reflect that). Fox’s youth targeting this fall continues to pay off as they continue to lead the adults 18-34 ratings.
