-Total Viewers:
CBS: 8.82 million, NBC: 8.56, ABC: 5.55, CW: 4.91, Fox: 3.85
-Adults 18-49:
CBS: 3.4 rating/8 share, NBC: 2.2/ 7, CW: 1.6/ 6, ABC: 1.5/ 5, Fox: 1.1/ 4
CW had its best night of the week on the strength of the Gorman household favorite that averaged 4.9m viewers, Friday Night Smackdown! Numb3rs premiere on CBS pulled 9.17m in the 10p slot, but was off last year’s pace when it opened with 11.35m.
Here in the USA, we apparently love, love, love to watch television on Thursdays. Fridays? Not so much.
CBS took the yawner of a night in both total viewers and 18-49, with NBC second in both categories. Marc Berman notes that DVR usage might be the only winner of the night. If he meant that more people watched Thursday’s shows on Friday night, I might agree with him. If he thinks there will be a lot of DVR usage for Friday’s shows, I want some of what he’s smoking.
I’d offer up that given the lackluster night that Tom Selleck’s return to the small screen in NBC’s Las Vegas two hour premiere did OK, averaging 9.1m viewers for the two hours it ran. The season premiere of Ghost Whisperer on CBS averaged 8.7m viewers, but was off over 1.5m viewers from its 2006 premier when it had 10.3m.

The EYE network takes both total viewers and 18-49 categories on the strength of Survivor and CSI.
-Total Viewers:
CBS: 18.58 million, ABC: 14.36, NBC: 9.37, Fox: 6.37, CW: 3.80
-Adults 18-49:
CBS: 5.8 rating/15 share, ABC: 5.7/15, NBC: 4.3/11, Fox: 1.9/ 5, CW: 1.4/ 4
Thursdays from 9p-10p surely was the most watched hour of broadcast television with CSI raking in 24.9m and Grey’s Anatomy adding another 20.5m. I’ll be interested to see the DVR totals for this night once we finally have them.

ABC wins the night in both total viewers and 18-49 ratings on the strength of the Dancing with the Stars “Results Show” that had 16.6 million viewers and the premiere of Private Practice which pulled 14.2 million viewers.
CBS came in second on total viewers and NBC took second with the 18-49 crowd. Viewers are already fading away for CBS’ Kid Nation which pulled 7.6 million viewers. Kid Nation’s premier last week pulled 9.4 million viewers but the Tiffany network scores with Criminal Minds’ premier which had 12.7 million viewers.
Gorman isn’t admitting it, but I’m sure he was one of the 13.6 million watching the Bionic Woman over on NBC. [Gorman says: Nope! Too far behind on my recordings of The War]
Not a good night for Fox. Kitchen Nightmares decreased 1.2 million versus the previous week’s premeire. Giving the premiere away on iTunes? Cool for geeks like me, otherwise completely meaningless.
-Total Viewers:
ABC: 13.76 million, CBS: 11.01, NBC: 10.88, Fox: 6.14, CW: 3.70
-Adults 18-49:

Against new competition from all except ABC, NBC’s football game and adjunct shows win the night going away for both total viewers and the 18-49 demo. CBS takes second in nightly total viewers with a timeslot #1 debut for the 40th season of 60 Minutes. A football overrun, post game and its regular Sunday night series debuts put Fox comfortably #2 for the demo, and neck and neck with CBS for total viewers. ABC is staying out of the game for now, premiering most of it’s new shows in October. CW’s new opens of CW Now and Online Nation disappoint and the net was an afterthought for the night.
