			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: left;">For the first time since we&#8217;ve been compiling these numbers (since 9/07) a prime-time broadcast show had more than a 50% increase over its Live audience in Live+7 viewing as CW&#8217;s <strong><em>90210</em></strong> had a 50.4% increase over its Live audience in Live+7 viewing. Rounding out the top 10 for largest % increase via DVR viewing were <strong><em>Office, Heroes, Lipstick Jungle x2, House, Gossip Girl, Grey&#8217;s Anatomy, America&#8217;s Top Model and Private Practice.</em></strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">For the week of October 27 - November 2, ABC&#8217;s <strong><em>Grey&#8217;s Anatomy</em></strong> yet again had the largest audience via DVR viewing with 4.089 million viewers via DVRs. CBS&#8217;s <em><strong>House</strong></em> was second with a DVR viewing audience of 3.776 million. Rounding out the top ten for the largest DVR audiences were <strong><em>Office, CSI, Desperate Housewives, Heroes, Survivor:Gabon, Criminal Minds, NCIS and The Mentalist</em></strong><strong><em>.</em></strong></p>
<p align="left">Although we know now that <a href="http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/10/16/dvr-viewing-past-airdate-meaningless-to-tv-revenue/6355">DVR viewing past the airdate is entirely meaningless to the show&#8217;s advertising revenue and likely its ultimate success</a>, we like seeing the trends regardless.</p>
<p align="left"><em>Note: Due to inexplicably missing LIVE data, the Wednesday night half hour Obama paid ad on NBC, CBS, Fox and Univision does not appear in these tables.</em></p>

<p><strong>Definitions:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Time Shifted Viewing</strong> – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day <strong>(Live+SD)</strong> and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day <strong>(Live+SD)</strong> include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">For the week of October 20-26, ABC&#8217;s <strong><em>Grey&#8217;s Anatomy</em></strong> again had the largest audience via DVR viewing with 3.941 million viewers via DVRs. Fox&#8217;s <em>House</em> was second with a DVR viewing audience of 3.494 million. Rounding out the top ten for the largest DVR audiences were <strong><em>CSI, Office, Desperate Housewives, Heroes, Fringe, NCIS, Survivor:Gabon, <span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-style: normal;">and</span></span> Criminal Minds</em></strong><strong><em>.</em></strong></p>
<p align="left"><strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">NBC&#8217;s </span><em>Office</em></strong> was the top show for percentage increase over its Live audience, increasing 42.5% in Live+7 viewing. Rounding out the top 10 for largest % increase via DVR viewing were <em>Privileged, Heroes, Lipstick Jungle, Fringe, Gossip Girl, House, Grey&#8217;s Anatomy, Smallville and Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles.</em></p>
<p align="left">Although we have found no evidence that <a href="http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/10/16/dvr-viewing-past-airdate-meaningless-to-tv-revenue/6355">DVR viewing past the airdate is meaningful to the show&#8217;s advertising revenue and likely its ultimate success</a>, we like seeing the trends regardless.</p>

Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day <strong>(Live+SD)</strong> include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.</p>

<p><strong>Time Shifted Viewing</strong> – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day <strong>(Live+SD)</strong> and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day <strong>(Live+SD)</strong> include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.</p>

CBS&#8217;s <em>CSI</em> was second with a DVR viewing audience of 3.598 million. Rounding out the top ten for the largest DVR audiences were <strong><em>Heroes, Office,</em></strong> <strong><em>Desperate Housewives, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Survivor:Gabon, Bones, <span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-style: normal;">and</span></span></em><em> Two and A Half Men.</em></strong></p>
<p align="left">Yet again, the CW&#8217;s <strong><em>90210</em></strong> had the top show for percentage increase over their Live audience increasing 43.4% in Live+7 viewing, it&#8217;s top level of the season. Rounding out the top 10 for largest % increase via DVR viewing were <strong><em>Heroes, Office, Grey&#8217;s Anatomy, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Lipstick Jungle, America&#8217;s Top Model, Life, Prison Break and Chuck</em></strong>.</p>
<p align="left">Although we know now that <a href="http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/10/16/dvr-viewing-past-airdate-meaningless-to-tv-revenue/6355">DVR viewing past the airdate is entirely meaningless to the show&#8217;s advertising revenue and likely its ultimate success</a>, we like seeing the trends regardless.</p>

<p><strong>Time Shifted Viewing</strong> – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day <strong>(Live+SD)</strong> and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day <strong>(Live+SD)</strong> include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">For the week of September 29 - October 5, Fox&#8217;s Fall 18-49 demo king <em><strong>House</strong></em> had the largest audience via DVR viewing with 3.583 million viewers via DVRs. NBC&#8217;s <strong><em>Heroes</em></strong> was second with a DVR viewing audience of 2.903 million. Rounding out the top ten for the largest DVR audiences were <strong><em>Desperate Housewives, Fringe, NCIS, Survivor:Gabon, Bones, Criminal Minds, Two and A Half Men <span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-style: normal;">and</span></span> CSI:Miami</em></strong>.</p>
<p align="left">The CW&#8217;s <strong><em>90210</em></strong> had the top show for percentage increase over their Live audience increasing 41.1% in Live+7 viewing. Rounding out the top 10 for largest % increase via DVR viewing were <strong><em>Heroes, House, Privileged, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Fringe, Prison Break, Gossip Girl <span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-style: normal;">and</span></span> America&#8217;s Top Model</em></strong>.</p>
<p align="left">Although we know now that <a href="http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/10/16/dvr-viewing-past-airdate-meaningless-to-tv-revenue/6355">DVR viewing past the airdate is entirely meaningless to the show&#8217;s advertising revenue and likely its ultimate success</a>, we like seeing the trends regardless.</p>

<p><strong>Definitions:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Time Shifted Viewing</strong> – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day <strong>(Live+SD)</strong> and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day <strong>(Live+SD)</strong> include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">In the first week of the new broadcast season (September 22-28), the season premiere of ABC&#8217;s <em><strong>Grey&#8217;s Anatomy</strong></em> had the largest audience via DVR viewing with 4.339 million viewers via DVRs. Fox&#8217;s <strong><em>House</em></strong> was second with 3.825 million DVR viewers. Rounding out the top ten for the largest DVR audiences were<strong><em> Heroes, Office, Fringe, Desperate Housewives, NCIS, CSI: Miami, Bones <span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-style: normal;">and</span></span></em><em> Two <span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-style: normal;">and</span></span></em><em> A Half Men.</em></strong></p>
<p align="left">Once again, the CW&#8217;s <strong><em>90210</em></strong> had the largest increase from its Live viewing via DVR playback increasing 42.5%. The season premieres of NBC&#8217;s <strong><em>Office</em></strong> and <strong><em>Heroes</em></strong> were numbers 2 and 3 with increases of 39.9% and 36.9% respectively. Rounding out the top 10 for largest % increase via DVR viewing were <em>Fringe, House, Privileged, Gossip Girl, America&#8217;s Top Model, Prison Break, </em>and <em>One Tree Hill</em>.</p>

<p align="left">The % Time-shifting table ranks which of the Top 150 broadcast shows [by Live+7 viewers] had the <em>largest % increase in viewing</em> between Live audience and Live+7 audience numbers from viewers watching shows later on their digital video recorders (DVRs).</p>
<p><strong>Definitions:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Time Shifted Viewing</strong> – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day <strong>(Live+SD)</strong> and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day <strong>(Live+SD)</strong> include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: left;">For the week of September 15-21, Fox&#8217;s <em>House</em> had the largest audience via DVR viewing with 4.064 million viewers via DVRs, one of the largest DVR audiences we have measured to date. In fact, Fox had the top 5 biggest DVR audiences including <strong><em>Fringe</em></strong>, <strong><em>Bones </em></strong>and <strong><em> Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles and Prison Break</em></strong>. Rounding out the top ten for the largest DVR audiences were <strong><em>B</em></strong><strong><em>ig Brother, America&#8217;s Top Model</em></strong>, two <strong><em>America&#8217;s Got Talents, 90210</em></strong> <span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-style: normal;">and</span></span> <em>Kitchen Nightmares</em>.</p>
<p align="left">The CW&#8217;s <strong><em>90210</em></strong> had the greatest percentage boost from DVR viewing, increasing 40.8% from its Live viewing. Rounding out the top 10 for largest % increase via DVR viewing was <strong><em>Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, America&#8217;s Top Model, House, Prison Break, Bones, Gossip Girl, Fringe Smallville, <span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-style: normal;">and</span></span></em><em> One Tree Hill.</em></strong></p>
<p align="left">It shouldn&#8217;t surprise anyone that Fox and CW shows dominate in both lists. The other broadcast networks had yet to premiere their new fall shows during this reporting week. Next week we will have Live+7 DVR numbers for the first week of the new 2008-9 season.</p>
